We visited Broomhall Castle and restaurant for a nice getaway. We were not dissapointed. First of all, from a former director of food and beveridge. I want to give my gratitude to Sam the owner of the restaurant, who was totally bang on point. I thought he went from execution to delivery in perfect form. The quality of the food was beyond five star! To the degree we are planning another stay for my birthday in June. Also big shout out to the servers in the restaurant. The bar staff in the hotel and the reception staff. They were amazing. Love you Broomhall See you soon

Staying close by, we tried the Castle View Restaurant at the weekend. Saturday nights are advertised as 'Steak Night', which includes 2 Steaks plus a Bottle of Wine per Couple for £38. The Steaks - we upgraded from Rump to Sirloin - were excellent, cooked to perfection. The bottle of Wine was of choice - not a cheap 'Plonk'. We followed the Steaks with Sticky Toffee Pudding, again very good. Will definitely be back and will try the Sunday Lunch Menu soon.

On balance I am giving Broomhall Castle a very generous two rating. We stayed for 5 nights and on the plus side the staff are all hard working and friendly. Courtenay in particular was such fun at breakfast time. On the negative side this “castle” is in need of a huge dose of TLC. Returning to our room after our first day it had not been made up. In fairness they did that while we were at dinner and gave us drinks on the house. We were impressed. After that their idea of servicing our room was to throw the duvet back into the bed without straightening the base sheet; and that was all they did. The coffee cups and glasses were never cleaned or replaced. The towels were left as they lay. The arrival biscuits were replaced just once. Our room was never cleaned. All the surfaces were thick with dust and the furniture looked like it all came from a charity shop. Our final bill was just being told how much we owed with no paperwork or breakdown !! Despite its somewhat dour outlook this could be a good place to stay particularly as all the staff try so hard but the owners were never seen during our stay.

This was our Son and new Daughter in law's wedding. We had the entire castle from Friday mid afternoon until lunchtime on Sunday. This was the perfect venue for location, service and friendliness of the staff and quality (and quantity) of the food provided. It was obviously a very special day for both families but made even more special by the service we received. We can't thank you enough.

Had both dinner (extra) and breakfast (included) at Broomhall Castle and both were okay. The roast pork I had for dinner was a bit on the dry side and could have used some more gravy but as the dining staff appeared to be short-handed, I never had the chance to request more. There was a good number of options on the breakfast menu as well as a variety of items available that weren't on the menu. When our toast got to the table it was a bit on the cold side but I think that was also due to short-staffing as I only saw one server tending to all of the tables.

The hotel is very clean, the beds comfortable, the room was big enough to swing hundreds of cats! Hot water took a little while to put in an appearance but great when it did. WiFi only available in communal areas downstairs. Terrific venue for celebrations, particularly weddings. I would give it a good rating for the hotel itself but very good for the staff.

Went for buffet on New Year's Day with the family (18 of us), when we arrived we were told just to find a seat. There were none, and there were 18 of us. We ended up at separate tables. Staff were extremely unhelpful & left us standing in the room. They tried to squeeze an extra table in between two others & when I refused to sit squashed in, the man in charge almost threw the table in the middle of the floor. The last straw was a soaking wet table cover, to which the waitress responded there were no more. The food was ok, but nothing was labelled so we didn't know what we were eating. Won't be back.

Buffet food which we did know about but we had to Q for 30 minutes to get food. Food was only warm, not hot. Wouldn't recommend, won't be back. It's a real shame as the venue has so much potential! Exceptional local produce went inti the well cooked and presented main dishes but what went wrong with the starters? Chowder was terribly bland with only corn and potato no langostine or crab, not even essence! Very poorly seasoned as well. Wifes Roulade pudding was poor and my christmas pudding was good.. All a shame as the setting is great and if standards were raised for all cooking to the main course level you'd get a 5 star rating.Unfortunately very underwhelmed. Add in big tables which can be good but for 2 dining way to big...

I stayed at Broomhall Castle hotel for 1 night when I had to travel to Stirling on business. After a 8 hour drive I was greeted by friendly staff who booked me in quickly and showed me straight to my room. The room was in character with the hotel with a large comfortable bed.The bathroom had a deep roll top bath with shower with plenty of water pressure. There was clean hand and bath towels provided. The food was fantastic and we'll presented in the large dining room. After dinner you can chill out in the lounge which resembles a gentleman's club or a old library with a drink from the bar.I would recommend this hotel if you want a quiet break without any loud music or any distractions, not the sort of hotel for families with children although the hotel had high chair's for babies, but I think toddlers and young people would find it boring.I would definitely book there again if I need to go back to the area.

Really like the "castle", there are some scuff marks on the wall and the shower could be cleaner but it's a good 3 star hotel, staff are friendly and attentive and the location is good and quiet, unless you have an arguing couple next to you, then you realise the walls are quite thin! The window in our room was permanently propped open with a wedge of wood, which was fine and welcome as the days and nights were warm in the summer, but this could not be closed without asking for assistance from a member of staff as the mechanism on the sash window was broken. The breakfasts were good but could have been improved with the option of fish. I would recommend as it's a nice character building with some really nice staff, especially the one that kept telling us he was wheat-intolerant :-)

Arrived late at 8.40 to be told the kitchen stop serving at 9.00 so we had to travel into Sterling despite arriving before 9.00! No offer of light refreshments was offered! There is no reception so we had stood at the front hall for 5 mins before someone walked by. No lift so this is not the hotel for a disabled person or those unable to walk a lot of flight of stairs. Room 1 was not an expected, it had not been cleaned properly and had sweet wrappers under the bed. The reason we found these? We found them when checking the room for a spider that had taken residence in the room and it was clear from the cob webs on the window pane that the cleaning was not up to standard! We did find Mr Spider and escorted him out of the room as it was rather late and no one on reception due to there being no reception we decided to leave the matter until check out. There was no guest information booklet in our room so we did not know to ask for a hairdryer! The television did not have signal to pick up channels and wifi is no existent luckily I don't mind speaking to my husband! All was mentioned to the kitchen staff who had to check us out after I could not find anyone. Overall the room was very disappointing and I would not recommend. Very over priced for what it is. Needs updating and introducing staff that greet guests at an actual reception. The introduction of a few cleaning products would also be a good investment.

We stayed over for one night in a double bedroom with en-suite. the room was very comfortable, the bed was very comfy, it was nicely decorated. The en-suite was lovely, shower creme/soaps were provided. The tea, sugar and coffee were provided in little glass jars which was perfect as those small individual packets are never enough, there were also biscuits and a chocolate mint. Staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was beautiful. We had Salmon which was perfectly cooked, we also had desserts which again were lovely. Portion size is good and the presentation of food was really nice and obviously made by a chef who clearly loves their work. The menu has something to offer for everyone. Breakfast was also delicious, there was a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, fruit juices, tea, coffee, herbal teas and or a cooked breakfast which you could have a boiled, poached, fried or scrambled egg, black pudding as well as bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms and what we call a hash brown - certainly a hearty breakfast. The main ingredients are matched with sides that delightfully complement them....for example, my lamb shank came with leek mashed potatoes and veg. It was amazing. The cheesecake souffle was great. The cheeseboard was generous both in choice of cheese and quantity. My starter for my meal on Easter Monday is simply the best starter of chicken terrine I've ever had. Half the reason I booked a night here was so I could go home with the right to say we "slept in a castle". Here is what I found. The bathrooms were great - with a big tub in each of our rooms (we had 2 rooms) and a shower. The rooms here were way bigger than any room I had in a Novotel. The family room had two big beds, plus a couch, dresser, tv, spacious bathroom... And for the most part, all you could hear were the people walking in their rooms above you and not anyone in the halls outside your room. The staff were friendly. Also not, they don't have a reception desk. Just go in and find someone at the bar or in the dining room to help you get checked in.Breakfast was also well prepared. You go to the dining room, you make your selection from a menu, and they bring it out. They also have your cereals and stuff if you don't want to take advantage of the cooking.I'd drive back to Stirling and stay here again before I stayed at any hotel in downtown.

We arrived on Tuesday afternoon to be met by a member of staff who proceded to tell us one staff member was off sick and another was on a day off so he was here on his own but it was ok as the "owners wife" was coming in to help him. We had booked dinner for that night and went to the bar for drinks, only to be told after being served the drinks there was no ice as they never had a delivery.(how difficult would it have been for somebody to nip to the nearest supermarket and purchase a few bags). The owner or "owners wife" did come along have a chat and served us dinner and made sure i had something other than what was on the menu as im a vegetarian and did not want the vegetarian haggis which was the only option. Meal was ok but nothing special. On the Wednesday afternoon arrived back at the hotel late afternoon to be met by the same staff member who asked if we wanted dinner that night, we declined and his reply was oh thats good that means ive only got one in tonight. Breakfast was good both mornings but i do not want to hear staff members talk to each other across the dining room arranging a night out. The room was stunning a few little things like curtains not fitting properly and the location is fantastic its such a shame you have to walk through all the discarded cigarette ends at the front door. When paying the bill at the end of our stay i was given a total, i asked for a breakdown of the bill and discovered they had tried to overcharge me for drinks. This could be a wee gem of a place but it lacks an eye for detail and staff need to be trained to a higher standard. This was a few nights away for my husband 60th so a bit of a let down.

Apart from bragging that you've eaten in a 'castle', the restaurant itself wasn't anything special. The meal choices are limited, although everything we had was beautifully cooked and presented. The problem is lack of staffing. This means there is no one to answer your phone calls and no one to greet you on arrival. More importantly it means you have to track someone down if you want a hairdryer or alarm clock as these are not supplied in the room and have to be requested. In our case we even had to ask for towels. When, within 5 minutes of sitting down to breakfast, we asked to swap tables we were told this would not be possible as staff were "too busy" to lay knives and forks at the other table. Also the wifi only works in the bar - not in rooms. While the outside looks great I'd suggest looking at it . . then moving on to somewhere else to actually spend the night.

My wife and wenter here for our valentines meal and what a decision it was .I chose here as I thought it would be a romantic gesture as we had got married here only 6 months earlier and the decision was right . The food was amazing and the fact that everything on the menu was different made it a hard decision to choose , we both ordered differen things so we could try each others both equally as good as the other . I thought it was a great menu giving you something different from the run of the mill ones you normally see if I wanted just steak and chips or average food (like 1 couple who decided to complain and wouldn't try something different) I would have gone to a run of Mill restaurant. Each and everything on the menu was something you wouldn't cook at home which is what eating out is all about (even if your working class lol). The little touches of your name on the table and a rose for my wife and Yorkie for me and it was same for every guest was a nice gesture ,the warm welcome you receive as usual was there as was the service 1st class . I have read on another review they complained of no reception desk , bad reception of tv in room this place is different from everywhere you probably have stayed your not treated as a guest your treated as family by all who work there nothing is too much of a hassle for them . My wife and I decided that we won't look around again for valentines we will return every year as again we loved every detail of our experience .

O lugar é simples e acolhedor. Mas o que vale mesmo é estar num castelo!!! A comida é ótima. O prato de Pork Belly é impressionante! O pessoal é atencioso e o custo benefício é adequado.

We held our wedding and reception at Broomhall, and can honestly say we couldn't find more character or better customer service anywhere. The place has an excellent atmosphere and was absolutely the perfect location for our wedding and we were genuinely sad to leave when it was all over!

We've eaten at "The Castle" twice now at least. The first time we went for an evening meal. The food was great as was the service. Staff not too attentive (some places just hover over you all the time to the point of annoyance) but available when we needed something. The second time we ate as at a mass breakfast after my wife's significant birthday bash last year. Since it was a function I guess we were all served a full breakfast at the same time with lashings of coffee and everything else required. I'd probably put that down as one of my best breakfasts ever.

as a little girl I always imagined getting married in a castle and in July 2013 I did rod and his team were amazing, from the day we visited to book until the day of our wedding 2 and a half years later they made us feel like old friends and made us top of their priorities whenever we were there, the rooms (of which our friends and family filled) were stunning, traditional and unique and the whole wedding experience was exactly how we wanted, relaxed but just the right amount of formal. The wedding meal was delicious, as all my friends remarked on, and we couldn't have been better looked after xx

We have eaten at Broomhall many a time! Favourites have been the night before our wedding & on our first wedding anniversary but the best was on our wedding day back in April 2010, we sat down with the chefs & planned our own Menu & to this day our family & friends say it's the best food they've ever eaten at a wedding! From goats cheese tart to venison to the famous Broomhall cheesecake…presentation is always beautiful & portions are just the right size, could go on & on!

food, service and rooms were second to none. Alister was the waiter/barman/receptionist. He was professional and very complimentary about my partner. Our Fillet steak and Monkfish was beautifully cooked and presented and tasted amazing

We were up looking over Broomhall Castle as a possible venue for our sons wedding and decided to have dinner in the restaurant which was a great decision. My son and I decided to start with pigeon breast, sorry we were that impressed when it arrived we both scoffed them up before I thought of getting a picture, oops. The two starters were simply amazing, both dishes were perfectly cooked. Our mains, two Ballotine of Chicken for the ladies, a Loin of Venison for my son and Roast Monkfish in a shellfish bisque for myself, I must say the fennel and tomato pancetta croquettes were delicious. Everything was once again cooked to perfection and nobody had anything but praise for all of the dishes as could be witnessed by the cleared plates.I don't often have a desert however as there was a Highland and Continental Cheeseboard on the menu I just had to go for it, great choice oh and great chutney too. There was also two sticky toffee puddings, or should I say two sticky toffee slabs, what a large pudding which seemed to go down very well, the Raspberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake was also a winner. The service was efficient and friendly and to be honest we couldn't fault a single thing about the whole meal.Praise must be given to the chef who I believe was called Grant?Just to update you about the wedding, we were all so impressed with everything that we have booked Broomhall Castle for our sons wedding, in fact we have booked the whole castle for the entire weekend, which is great as we get more chances to try the delicious food.

Our stay at Chateau Broomhall was the highlight of a recent working trip to Scotland. The staff were bright, attentive and friendly, the surroundings quirky but comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. The restaurant was spacious and served some particularly good food.We couldn't fault the place, and would definitely come again. The biggest thrill for me was having my own tower to stay in for the night.

We arrived rather late and decided to eat at the castle. The food came in large portions and varying quality. The chef definitely puts more heart (and spices) into the meat and fish dishes than into the vegetarian options. The dining room feels somewhat underfurnished and there was a tiny crackling stereo blaring out music at the end of the room, which felt pretty odd. The service was friendly but slightly unfocused. When we ordered coffees and moved into the other rooms, they said they would bring them to us - and then they promptly forgot all about it. It was the least impressive and most expensive dinner we had during our four days in Scotland.

We've been here for the second time, and again the food was very good. The setting of the castle and the dining hall also adds a certain atmosphere. There was only one person of the staff present for checking people in, serving people in the restaurant and attending the bar, but that didn't affect the service at all! Always friendly and very helpfull, we even got free updates of the football match. The food was fresh, looked and tastes fabulous. Next time we're in stirling, we will pass by for sure!

Slightly tired inside, lift out of order a year apart from each visit. Breakfast good, meal not bad, banter with one of the managing partners who was a chef was most amusing. go for it, great place to visit. Will be going again for the great atmosphere..

Great portions, excellent service and some of the best food I ever had! The staff did everything that my guest's that i had invited asked for, and made sure we were comfortable during our dinner, but did not intrude to much. In fact we had a hearty conversation with one of them during dinner as we ate and we had a good laugh!

Good rooms but do not have phones, irons or access to wifi because of the thick walls. A little creaky as well so can hear people in nearby rooms moving about.Staff are very warm and welcoming but hard to find on an evening when you want a drink from the bar or if you need help with something and since there are no phones in the rooms you have to lookup the number and call from your own mobile.

I was lucky enough to have two meals in two nights at Broomhall Castle while there for the wedding of two friends. The food was top notch and great value, I wouldn't hesitate to return. The chicken, black pudding, fried bread stack was obviously calorie packed but very much worth it, absolutely delicious.I also got a good look around the various parts of the hotel over the two days and I was very impressed, the rooms were of a generally high standard. Overall, a lovely venue in a quiet location with really friendly staff. Brilliant.
