Family visit varied menu with something there for everyone decent prices they do certain meals like steak pie/fish +chips from noon to 4pm every day for £5.95 and it's a decent enough portion size but overall the prices for all the meals are not too bad at all. They also have a few specials on to choose from which add to your choice. There is nothing too fancy on the menu but it's decent homely tasty food as our plates we're all clean.Small delay getting the food out took about 30 mins which is more than my 20 minute rule otherwise it would have been a 5. Well worth a visit if your in the area folks !!

Went with friends who stay within walking distance, arrived at 7.30 ordered drinks and asked for a menu, told they stopped serving at 8. And kitchen closed. Wright enough nobody in place eating. Yet it says on billboard food served till 8pm !! An older couple came at our back and he had walking difficulties, just walked from sauchie (next village) took him half an hour but he knew he would make it there before 8 o'clock ! The tables were still layed out with cutlery ! Both the tiered old couple and my company of five had a quick chat about service and left after our drink. The staff asked on our way out if we not staying for the quiz ? I replied we were here for food and if they had made us a meal we would have stayed for more drinks and there quiz. The gentleman just shrugged his shoulders !!! Sorry I have no comment on food !! Ps lovely cold pint of magners if that helps !!!!!

13.00 on a Sunday and no diners was a surprise. The restaurant within the pub lounge was set-out and waiting but only a few came over the next hour or so. Service was handled by the barman who was pleasant and efficient. Two roasts were available, lamb and chicken. We started with soup which was excellent and set us up in anticipation for the main course which although adequate was not exceptional or exciting. Pudding like the soup was very good. Had there been roast potatoes and had the yorkshire puddings been less crisp the main course would have have scored higher. That said, overall it was good, reasonably priced food. The pub is easily accessible with its own car park and well positioned if you are visiting the area or touring through the little towns by the Ochils or simply visiting the furniture retailer in nearby Tillicoultry. I would go back but I wouldn't rush back. Another plus was the good access and space for disabled wheel chair customers.

I have just visited the Ochilview for a Saturday night tea. At 7pm there were no burgers, only flat lemonade and rude staff. I won't be going back. There is a burger section on the menu so my son ordered a cheeseburger, but the waitress came back a few minutes later to say there were no burgers. She did not bring him the menu to make another choice. He also had a lemonade which was flat. When I returned it I was told "she's just gone to get some". I assumed she meant from a storeroom. My son had finished his food by the time "she" returned from Asda! I said we didn't want it anymore and was told "she" had gone to get it for us, as though we are the only people who drink lemonade! How rude. They have just lost a customer.

Visited The Ochilview on Monday lunchtime and have to say I can't find any fault with the service we received. We were greeted upon arrival by the manageress and seated promptly. Drinks and food order were taken in a timely manner. While waiting we were encouraged to make use of the jukebox which is free to use during the day on weekdays. Our food arrived a short while later and I'm pleased to say it certainly didn't disappoint. Very filling lunch and great fresh ingredients used. Pleasing to see many others diners come and go while we were in. I'll definitely make a return visit soon. Hopefully to try out the Friday night curry night or Saturday night steak night. Great effort from The Ochilview team - keep it up guys!!!

It was my brothers 15th & my aunties 50th. We book 'The Ochil View' two weeks in advance as we had a table of 15. Now as we arrived the first thing the manager informed us when we walked in was there was no burgers or desserts... (I mean two weeks notice, 15 people, no stocking up). Then we all ordered, 6 steaks, fish and gammon and steak pie. Two steak pies arrived and looked nice, then the sirloin steak arrived, all were suppose to be medium or rare, but in fact were cremated, every single one. No steak knife were given as they had none, so hacking into a carbon coated steak with a butter knife was the delicacy of the night. All steaks arrived on a plate when on the menu it said they came on a sizzler, once confronted the manager said it was a typo. Only half of us got onion rings with our steaks for some unknown reason (probably ran out) the mushrooms that came with the steaks were also awful and all the sauces were just plain cream and crushed pepper granules. All the steaks were returned and we all refused to take anything else. In the end we complained excessively and we only got charged for two steak pies and a fish. Terrible experience. Having a take away for my aunties 50th.

I popped in late on Sunday afternoon (around 16.30). I was quite surprised that the Sunday lunch was still available so plumped for this. The roast beef lunch was cooked very nicely, was a good portion size and the veg was obviously fresh and very tasty. The licensees and waiting staff were pleasant and polite and went to every effort to make my visit/meal enjoyable. My desert of choice was apple crumble........absolutely delicious........and unlike many establishments in the area they actually have a decent draught lager on offer (Stella Artois) which rounded the meal off nicely for me. I will definitely go back soon.

For a friend's birthday, we all went up to the local for a meal and drink. The food was great, everyone was happy with their meal. My only gripe was the service, why ask a customer how they want their steak if you're not then going to actually cook it that way. A couple of the meals were on the two for ten pounds offer, which we pointed out when the bill was wrong. They did adjust the bill, but then asked in future for us to claim the offer beforehand as it would have been smaller portions. (No mention of that on the offer leaflet). Sort out the service and the Ochil View will be great.

Having been there a few years ago and enjoyed it, we decided to go for bar lunch. Walking in to a near empty restarant and a look of boredom on the waitress behind bar was not a good start. Meal was a disaster (as Mackeroo has already said, in the same party) so I wont repeat. The main thing I will write was about the attitude of the owner, almost scared me when I said 'i wouldn't pay £8 for this' he glowerd at me saying 'what were you expecting'. Not a good response. He finally agreed that we didn't have to pay.The owner would benefit from a course on how to speak with customers.

We visited this pub last summer for a bite to eat and couldn't fault it. Sadly the same could not be said for today. The 'Angus' burger was half the size of the roll and had clearly just come from the freezer. I could not cut through mine and sent it back only to be told that was the last one and did I want anything else. I picked macaroni cheese and when it came, it was swimming in grease. Not nice. The kids meals were all fine especially the chicken nuggets which were made from real chicken. Unfortunately the whole experience today left a lot to be desired and we will not return unless steps are taken to make improvements. Such a shame as it could be really good.

I was so surprised reading the 1st time reviewers reviews of this place that I had to double check we were reviewing the same place!!Me and 3 others went just last week for a bar lunch and it was a terrible experience. The venue was cold which didnt help and the radio was blaring although in fairness to the nice waitress she did turn it down after we mentioned it. The food was really bad with the exception of my mothers fish and chips which she said was nice. Macaroni cheese was in fact a plate of cheesy pasta, the cheese and pickle salad we ordered arrived as ham and pineapple and when the error was pointed out, it was clear all they did on return was pick off the ham, not great for a vegetarian. We also didnt think it was worth the money, lots of shredded lettuce, a teaspoon of pickle couple of tomatoes My chicken burger was soo dry i could even cut through it. When we initially made a complaint the owners attitude was verging on being aggressive. He brought out the chef who was approachable and who apologised for the chicken and also agreed that the salad wasnt of standard. After much resistance from the rude owner he finally agreed that we shouldnt pay full price for the meals we complained about. Will never go back whilst current owners are running/ruining this place

Went in with my wife for an evening meal and a pint on Monday 15.10.12 whilst travelling around Scotland. Ordered the fish cakes and Lasagne for both of us. What a suprise, the fishcakes were home made and delicious, the Lasagne was excellent with meat from the local butcher, there was only 1 waitress on duty and she also tended to the bar, she was quick and efficient, a credit to the place. We met the young lady who cooked the food and it was obvious that she is committed to producing good food, this is a standard of food and service well above what we have come to expect in most Pubs/Inss that serve food nowadays, a place well worth visiting again.

Went for a family meal with 18 people. The starters were good (who can go wrong with nachos). We waited at least an hour for our mains to come out. They came out at all different times. Every steak/mixed grill that came out was well over done, a burger came out that had to be scraped of the black charcoal before it was edible. Someone was meant to get boiled potatoes, they received chips also ordered peas that never arrived! Two portions of cheesy garlic bread never made an appearance either. We had a baby of a year old, her dinner came last at 9pm after numerous chasing of the waiter. When it came it was actually raw! To finish the meal off, there was a daddy longlegs actually cooked within someones onion ring. Some of the kids had kids meals and their ice cream also never came. To add insult to injury we were told we had to pay a portion of the bill!!!we also never received an apology, safe to say we will never be back!

We visited the Ochil View because it was the nearest to the caravan site we were on and it was one of the worst rainy days for a long time. What a brilliant surprise. We had the excellent carvery, £8.95 for two courses. The food is expertly cooked, nothing fancy, just good old fashioned Sunday roasts. The slices of meat were above average size and there was a good choice of veg. The staff are amongst the friiendliest we have met for a long time. The new owners are doing a great job with both prices ans atmosphere. Next time we are over that way we will make it our mission to return. Thank you for briinnging the "good" back into good food. Or bill came to under £25 for two courses, one large glass of wiine, for me, a soft drink and a tea and coffee. Great value!!!!!

The Ochil View has to be the best place to eat in Clackmannanshire/Stirling at the moment. The food is consistently good, whether it be off the full menu or the Sunday carvery. The prices are great - again off the menu or for the carvery. I paid £13 for a 12oz sirloin steak with chips/onion ring & tomoto...it was fantastic and cooked really well. The next day I went to Hendersons Bistro in Stirling and ordered a 6oz sirloin for around £14/15....the Ochil View beat it hands down in terms of quality of meat, and they way in which it was cooked. Would thoroughly recommend this place. You can eat in the pub itself, or in the seperate function room through the back (where the carvery is served, which we often visit!)
