The Woodsman Restaurant in Clackmannanshire

Lovely restaurant - always visit when in area. Nice selection of dishes at reasonable prices. Tonight we had Balmoral Chicken (stuffed with haggis), baby potatoes & veg. Then today’s special for dessert - Lemon Meringue Sundae - absolutely delicious! All served by lovely waitresses who were friendly, efficient & very welcoming. Well worth a visit! Can’t wait to come back!

Hadn’t booked but we were accommodated with a table for two by a welcoming member of the waiting staff. Just fancied a quick bite and we were not disappointed with a great selection and our choice was not disappointing. We wanted to stay on for drinks and you should be warned the space for drinking clientele was limited, but we did manage to fill the only non-eating seating in the place. Good selection of whiskys and guns and the staff were fabulous. Will definitely be back.

Very neat lay out of restaurant, cosy and light. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. We were celebrating a birthday and they helped with this. The service was efficient. The food was excellent value for money. We all had different dishes from the menu and were all tasty and enjoyable. Will be back

My parents eat here frequently and have been impressed every time they visit but I didn’t really anticipate quite how good the food was going to be. We popped in midweek and enjoyed it so much that we booked onto the campsite for the weekend so we could back on the Saturday. Every dish we ordered over both visits was gorgeous - well cooked, flavourful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The FOH staff were wonderful - especially Graham and Morag. The fact that every seat was taken on a sub zero mid January evening is testament to how great this place is. Already planning next trip.

Burger not great, overseasoned with garlic and dry, patty too thick causing meat to dryout. Partner had steak which was well cooked. Would come again but avoid the burger

fabulous food and service, menu isn't extensive but I like this as it helps keep the quality high, elderely parents love the fish & chips, if you are in the area, pop in, you won't be disapointed.

Works Christmas Lunch. Easily accommodated and cared for 10+ in our party. Even accommodated for a late arrival without fuss. Food was stunning! Hot when delivered, portion size was very good, and tasted absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed their starter and main course. I would love to have tried a sweet, but honestly, I didn't have the space. Staff were friendly and checked back regularly. I will definitely be back for 3 courses.

Ate in resturant 36 of our SWI members. We had The Best Time, food, fun and full tumms. Staff couldnt be more helpful, no complsints just lots of compliments. We even managed our Santa visit, some wild raffle prizes and a wee quiz ! Most of all lots of chat! Thank you everyone at resturant.

Excellent food and great service! Could do with a bit of a refurb as in furniture / curtains etc. Very old fashioned looking. HOWEVER - The most important thing - the food and service - was spot on.

Our son, his wife and our two grandchildren (who had never visited the Woodsman) could not believe the very high standard and presentation of the food they ordered along with myself and wife on 25/10/23. We all had a wonderful evening with good service. My wife and I have visited the woodsman on many occasions and never had cause for complaint so we have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to others where the staff really look after your every need.

Called in as we were staying at the site next door. They were busy, but accommodated us no problem. We'll worth it. The food was fabulous and we sat for a couple of hours at leasure. I would highly recommend if you are in the area.

A wee hidden gem. We were served by friendly staff, who were happy to chat and give recommendations about the local area. They advised booking in advance for evenings and weekends. Great choice of dishes and a specials menu to suit all tastes and smaller portions available. Only wish we'd had room for dessert.

Husband had fish & chips and i had steak pie, steak was tender and succulent and fish was moist and served 2 pieces- lovely restaurant and attentive staff - will definitely be back

We were staying in a lodge at neighbouring site. We ate in here Friday,Saturday and Sunday night Food was first class with great portions. Staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. Thanks again

excellent food and spotlessly clean restaurant. Great portion sizes my only criticism was itold off for not presenting gift voucher quick enough bit one of the waitresses despite a sign saying present voucher at time of ordering on the wall . it came across as a bit abrupt "next time present the voucher as soon you arrive". it just could have been said a bit more nicer. that said i would be back

While staying at the neighbouring campsite, my wife and I went for dinner. The quality and quantity of the food was top notch. The special pate, chicken and whisky, was especially tasty. I honestly cannot say enough about the staff. For our entire visit; we also visited a few how’s earlier on route to a walk, there was only two staff on front of house. It was especially busy for a Wednesday evening out of holiday season. They never complained, always had a smile on their face, and always happy to give recommendations. Two absolute gems. All round it was a great evening and we will definitely be back to the neighbouring campsite, partly due to this establishment.

We were staying at the caravan park next to the restaurant and didn't want to travel far for dinner after a long drive. Our waitress was so attentive and thoughtful. My husband and I had dinner with our one year old daughter. The restaurant was so kind to serve a side of vegetables for our daughter without the garlic butter (at our special request) and a plastic cup with a straw. We were so impressed with the cleanliness and fantastic staff. Our waitress was so wonderful, she is a real asset to this restaurant. The food was also so tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed dining here.

Stopped here for dinner on our travels through Scotland and had a great time. Beautiful restaurant with lots of fresh options. Got roast chicken and a leek and potato pie; both were delicious. Nice selection of changing specials. Great place to take the family for a nice meal if travelling through the area.

A lovely restaurant located next to the caravan park we were staying on, so handy for a drink and a bite to eat. We sat outside with the dog and luckily the weather was kind to us. The staff are so friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us. We ordered 3 meals on a bank holiday Sunday when they were busy and all meals came out piping hot and on time. Would highly recommend and would not hesitate to return if we are in this area again.

The staff were very helpful and couldn’t do enough, our order for food and drinks was taken and we were informed the burger would take longer than normal to cook it was a wait but not a problem The food arrived all OK until I was eating the burger on its own which was as dry as dry can be with a third being left on the plate. I’m not saying don’t go I’m saying don’t have a burger

Don’t let the three star review put you off if you’re dogless. We thoroughly enjoyed our food which was fresh and well cooked. The women serving tables were friendly - even to our doggo. So what’s the problem I hear you asking - well although the lovely women clearly loved all the dogs attending we were sadly banished to the beer garden. The beer garden is well kept although too close to car parking area and if you’re not offended by plastic foliage in a fantastic woodland location it’s fine. But what really got my goat was not being allowed to take my dog inside. This policy prevented us from going there when the Scottish rain was pishing down. It’s not only that, it’s the fact that every table has a no smoking sign which was roundly ignored by about 50% of patrons who did not either read the sign or remarked - oh no were vaping that’s okay. Sorry folks - I can’t enjoy my wine inhaling the sickly vapes of my fellow alfresco diners. So to sum up, lovely location, good food, poor welcome to dogs, especially the ones that don’t vape.

Good food in a great location. Staff are brilliant. The crowd tends to be a wee bit older, and the atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing. I've been a few times and doesn't disappoint. The food is good but not great.

We had a table booked for 12 people for my grandma's 80th birthday at 4pm which was booked weeks in advance. When we arrived we were told that we had to be out by 6.15pm which wasn't a problem for us since we don't tend to hang around. The food was overall not bad, but we were made to feel unwelcome. Our server was Courtney and we felt it took a long time to get attended to which made it very stressful since we knew we had to be out. We wanted desserts and therefore while some of us were still eating dinner, we asked if we could pre order so we would have time to eat it. The response was that they couldn't put the order though until everybody was finished but she would write down everybody's orders and put it through the second we were all finished which we agreed was a good idea. However, our waitress then disappeared outside with another member off staff, at one point she was in her car and then spoke to other staff and children at the bar. Since 20 minutes had past and we only had half an hour before we were told to leave, we decided to go to sweet spot in Sauchie for dessert. Courtney didn't ask us for our desert order until the table was cleared and she was very taken back that we no longer wanted anything else. I will mention there was another female, blonde but I couldn't get her name who was lovely and asked us about getting the kids food first which was appreciated. We all agreed that we have never made to feel so unwelcome.

This restaurant is situated a stone’s throw from a motorhome and caravan park site. The vast majority of the campsite users own at least one dog. It is such a treat to have a restaurant so close by and not having to take the car...

What a lovely place to eat stayed at the woods caravan site next door short weekend. Booked woodman pub as friend said book for weekend as its fully booked so we did. We cant fault it food fantastic staff great full house parking hit or miss but we had visitors to caravan site so they parked on site

This is our go to restaurant when our family meet up. Despite there being ten of us the service from the cheery and efficient staff was fantastic. The food is always delicious, with a wide choice at reasonable prices. What’s not to like!

Staying on the adjacent campsite and called for a drink and dinner. A cool pint of Magners and a lamb shank and balmoral chicken really hit the spot. We had our dog with us so sat outside on the deck, but the interior looked good....

Ordered a burger and chips for lunch and sat outside in the sun. Best quality meal we have had in ages (and we eat out a lot). Burger, chips and salad were all lovely and would recommend this 😀

Lunchtime visit,...... located next to entrance of caravan park, plenty parking to front and side of building. Was pleasantly surprised on entering this restaurant, very modern and well laid out. Food and service was excellent, a good selection of lunchtime meals. Will definitely be calling in again in near future to sample the dinner menu.......

Main meal was lovely however very disappointed with dessert, ordered pavlova and what I got was a shop bought meringue with frozen fruit in a puddle of water from the frozen fruit and whipped cream. Highly disappointed with customer service after hearing staff talking about a member of our group and his request to make a change his dessert.

This is a restaurant of a very high class. Meals were excellent, my lamb was literally falling off the bone. Ice cream with red berries was heavenly as well. Little pricey, but it's not something you eat every day.
