Popped in for lunch as we were staying in Birnam & we saw the the place was very busy which is always a good sign & as it was dog friendly it met our requirements. The usual fare on offer , soup, toasties, paninis etc and what we had was nice enough.

We were looking for a light lunch but were told the kitchen was shut today. I had the last piece of quiche, which was very dry around the edges. My husband had the last steak pie and a scone. They had "run out" of jam so he got a small half portion of jam with his scone. Ironically, they sell jars of homemade jam in the cafe 🤔! Staff were lovely and friendly though!

Sat down and waited 15 minutes, no service, then staff took the orders of other people who arrived subsequently. Not a big cafe and it’s easy to see who is due to be served next. Not good enough at all. Maybe as there’s nowhere else to eat on a mon/tue in birnam they think they can behave in this way. However, it’s really unacceptable.

So disappointing today. We were here in late December when the cafe was full of stranded travellers held back by flooding and blizzards on the A9, and there was a great can do attitude from the very busy staff willing to help everyone. Stopped by again today on long drive south, taking time off route because of previous great experience. Web listing said open till 4pm, we arrived at 3pm. Person in charge, who was sat eating, said they closed at 3, and that 4pm closing only applies in week. Such a difference in attitude to our last visit. Be great if you can update web listing. Will leave rest for you to sort.

First time visit whilst having a wee walk through Birnam, its The Post Office, wee shop and the tea room. Very busy inside and outside on a sunny autumn morning, very popular with locals, cyclists and visitors like us. Friendly welcome from staff, order taken, 2 coffee's a cheese and ham toastie and a cheese and ham panini, one with crips the other with a tasty coleslaw and salad. We sat outside, its a luvly wee place, to sit at and njoy your food etc. We njoyed tasty cappuccinos with a frothy chocolate topping and our sandwiches. Enjoyed our visit, would recommend a visit if visiting the area. :)

We went in to this busy place got acknowledged and seated as soon was viable. You could tell this little tea room had outgrown its self and I’m not surprised! After contemplating a panini we went for afternoon tea !! Well what can I say. We could pick any finger sandwiches which were delicately later on the top tier. Moving on because let’s be honest no one has afternoon tea for the Sandwiches!! The cakes were amazing! All home made there was scones, vic sponge, tiffin, meringue and more. And full size none on this miniature nonsense! £15 a head, it’s nothing for that amount of cake! I subsequently looked at other places nearby to compare what we had and found that it was a minimum of £29 elsewhere. Top it off we could park, the toilets were clean and despite being very busy the staff were happy and helpful.

We have been here a few times and we were looking forward to the same scottish cream tea service. It took a while to be seated and then we were asked if we wanted the menu. We did we had the afternoon tea booked. The waitress did not really understand what was involved with the afternoon tea service The sandwiches and cakes came out, and for 5 people the sandwiches were really poor and not enough. For £15 per person,it is shocking. We had 2 to 3 cut peices of bread with filling. For that price it should have been more. No refill offered etc. Would not recommend. Shame as we have been here a good few times.

Second time I have been here. Last time it took over 20 minutes to bring a cake and coffee, both of which were average. This time I ordered a toasties which still hadn't appeared after 30 minutes. So I paid for my coffee and left. The server was abrupt, not apologetic and I felt guilty for coming at a busy time (2pm). Apparently it is all because the kitchen is small. That was the excuse last time too. Can I suggest they enlarge the kitchen and be a little more welcoming please, though I doubt I'll be back. Unfortunate as looks a good place with great potential.

As a local I have been having my breakfast here for many years and up until this year really enjoyed using the place but to say it’s gone downhill is an understatement, pre cooked food not even warmed back up properly, cold hard fried egg with brown base, cold sausage, slimy mushrooms basically inedible and if it looks like getting busy the staff put reserved signs on empty tables and just turn customers away it’s so sad as this was such a welcoming place once.

Nice wee cafe however found it fell well below the basic standard perhaps because they were so busy. No napkins, no cutlery no salad with food. Sausage roll cold in the middle. When I went in to speak to someone to ask their was a massive queue so left it. Disappointed and out of pocket. A shame folk are paying hard earned money for such terrible service and food. Maybe it's nicer on a quiet day, feel like we paid the pice or going on a busy day.

Pretty below average sandwiches and toasties, but nice scones and home made jam. Service pretty average, and all staff could do with smiling or acknowledging customers ( Been in three times, and service always the same. ). I want to like this place, as it is independent, so with a bit of improvement ,it could be fab ! )That said, after a day on the hills, worth stopping for a scone ( treacle, apple and cinnamon or plain ), and homemade jam.

Good herbal tea selection, the treacle scone was a delight, it came with three different jams and absolutely delicious lemon curd. Lovely odd pieces of china, sweet, sweet place! Loved every minute I spent there!

Great scones... Only problem is they're too big for your plate!! Reasonable prices too and good for breakfasts.

This has to be the most friendly and stunning wee place in the world!........ we only nipped in for some coffee and tea but ended up have some of the best home made scones and probably the best jams in the world....... (and I kid you not). The lady who served us outside in the sunshine took time to talk to us and get the wee pixie guy fresh water and she fussed over him "which the wee guy likes". Anyway, give this place a try and I'm sure you'll not be disappointed. Martin & Heidi....... (oh, and wee Pixie)

In town centre parking all around.Served quickly and friendly. Nice menu we both opted for the steak pie. Which didn’t disappoint tasted delicious and good portion size. We even greater ourselves to pudding - sticky toffee to be exact served with ice cream - absolutely delicious.£25 for 2 x 2 courses and soft drinks good value.Defo recommend.

The location, the restaurant, the staff and the food are all excellent. My partner and I had a truly wonderful Sunday lunch and each dish (cheese souffle, John Dory and blueberry pana cotta) worthy of 10 out of 10. scores. My only concern is that the 25% increase in the price may deter future customers.
