The food was perfect, the staff were lovely, we all sat in and the waitress went above and beyond, my favourite fish and chip shop won’t be going anywhere else .
Called in Friday 18th April mid morning after the Gym on the off chance of getting a table and we were met with smiles and a table for two. The food is healthy, the Coffee is great.
I will definitely be going back, I gave the girls a good tip as they deserved it.
Keep the good work and consistency up.
Thanks Neil
Went here for a quick bite and wasn't disappointed. We only had a bacon roll with coffee and that was fine. Nothing startling, just fine. Could'a had more bacon, could'a had butter but can't find any real fault with what we had.
got served by a new very friendly highly skilled waitress Iona. very personable and a credit to the establishment she lifted the standard of the evening.
Popped in here for some bottles of water and ended-up getting a treat for the dogs and a can of local soft drink too (Paisley Drinks Co.). The shop / cafe seemed pleasant enough and the staff were welcoming but I couldn't comment on anything past that as I was simply a passing customer and didn't stay / sit-in for food.
I had a quick browse at the fridges and noted the meats and fresh foods to be local (smoked salmon, milk etc) which would be a dream to a local, and someone who liked fish. I do have to comment that two of the three items I bought were actually from over 300 miles away (water from Wales, dog treat from Reddish, England).
A nice wee shop that I will visit again but I will be checking what I buy next time.
*I've rated food 3 stars purely because I didn't have any so it must be a neutral rating.
This would definitely be a five star from us in the past, however we are a little concerned now that the hotel has been taken over by a larger group of hotels.
We have been coming here for over ten years, and the hotel and owners have always made our stay very special. They were a tough act to follow. We were a little concerned knowing they were planning to leave, so on our most recent visit enquired as to what the current situation was. The staff are all the same and so is the chef, so thats good, but there were quite a few little things missing that we had noticed. In addition, on one evening a course was not available ( even though the hotel was quiet ) plus three different wine choices were unavailable. This never happened with the previous owners.
Sadly, when a group take over a hotel, it loses the personal touch, and we are concerned the bean counters will change it a bit more over the coming months.
We will keep an eye on here for updates and other comments before considering our next visit, but sincerely hope it stays unique.
Went for their (monthly?) 5 course tasting menu, left thinking 'is that it and why did i expect more of somewhere in Falkirk?!'
But I really don't want to let that be the branchmark for Falkirk. Most people that are from here think you have to go to Edinburgh and Glasgow for a nice meal, that shouldn't be the case.
The menu didn't flow, it wasn't presented with any knowledge or passion, it didn't flow and link together and the staff didn't 'sell' or buy into it. There was a description with the wine pairing but literally nothing with the food that was presented.
I don't know if it is a food or service quality issue but certainly we werent made to feel really welcome and the food was fine, but far from great.
What a fantastic place to eat, drink and relax. We were returning from a wedding in Glencoe and decided to stay here for one night on the way home and we are so glad we did. Everything about our short but sweet stay was perfect. Sitting outside having a drink, enjoying the sunshine then up to our well appointed room, really nicely done with comfortable bed and nice, modern bathroom.
We'd booked a dinner, bed and breakfast stay and the food was fantastic as was the service. It has a wonderful friendly, family atmosphere and we chatted away to the owner a couple of times and we felt right at home.
If we are passing that way again we'll stay without hesitation, I can't recommend it highly enough.
