Jim Jack's Fish & Chips - Dunfermline in Fife

Visited Dunfermline for the first time today. Dropped in for a bite to eat, absolutely fantastic. Very friendly, pristine clean and great service. What an amazing chippy.

Normally really good but on this occasion wouldn't recommend. Fish was brown under the batter.

We popped in for supper during our first visit to Dunfermline. We ordered haddock and chips for 2 to share with mushy peas, coleslaw and a ginger beer for £14.95 in total. Compared to what we're used to in Southwest England we couldnt believe the price and the quality, one of the, if not the best fish&chips we have ever had. We will definitely be back for more.

I go there all the time, staff is amazing especially fiona she goes out her way to help you the same for jim to, fish&chips is really good. My friend has the marcorni cheese which it's really nice as well, everybody is helpful and it's definitely the best place in town. - Once again we were at jimjacks today 21/9/24 amazing fish tea and steak pie my sister had that she said it was nice and tasty as the same as my fish tea was very good, must say Fiona and Amy were really helpful and happy to see us, I feel the atmosphere is excellent best place ever also thanks to Jim and also Jack as well, I will definitely going back because they are happy to see the regulars or anybody because they are definitely the best fish bar we'll done guys 5/5.

Once I went back to jim/Jack's fish chipbar in Dunfermline. Today I had fish tea absolutely brilliant just melted in my mouth so nice and the chips were nice to. My sister had steakpie and chips and she said its the best shes had well done there. I feel jim/Jack's are the best fish and chip shop in Dunfermline we would definitely recommend it to anybody, have to say my friends were in for a fish tea and pizza supper and they said also brilliant. Have to say thanks to Fiona she is really helpful and makes you laugh when you go there. Also would thank Amy our server really good, as well as Jack and also Jim, thanks to all definitely going back we would give it 5/5 for everything thanks.

Wonderful ambience, fantastic service, wonderful GF option every Tuesday and Sunday. Highly recommend this wonderful service. 100% I've never felt happier coming home with a hot, amazing Chippy. Also their fresh fries are just top tier.

Went to Jim and Jacks for a fish supper a single haggis and a tub of mushy peas. Brilliant. Really enjoyed it. Got quality food. Decent price and efficient friendly service.

First time in the shop since the new owners. All I can say is superb in every way! Got the fish supper the fish was so fresh the batter light and crisp and the chips had no grease and crispy, also the price was very good. Also the owner served us and he made all the difference as he was so pleasant and had a smile and conversation while we waited for our fish to be ready. Would recommend you go here if you're in Dunfermline, you won't be disappointed. Just an update as it's awhile since I posted the review, went in for a fish supper to share was served by two women who couldn't have been nicer and the food was crisp dry and tasty it was more than enough for two people. No wonder this place is so popular.

There are a few fish and chips places nearby where I live that are closer to me. However after reading the reviews for Jim Jacks. I decided to walk a bit further and try this place out. I can say with full confidence that this place is worth the extra commute and one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Fish is very well cooked and the right amount of batter. Chips are perfectly cooked on the outside and a nice fluffy texture on the inside. Ordered both curry and gravy and would highly recommend either sauce. Staff are very friendly and they have a seating area. They can do takeaway or dining in. Will definitely be back and is now my go to place for fish and chips in Dunfermline. Thanks!

Friday night fish and chips, which were excellent.

It reprised Alari's sit in. That can never be a bad thing to do.

Food was lovely as always, staff friendly and helpful. Particular mention to Jill and young trainee Amy who were a delight.

Amazing food! 2nd time here and just as good as the first! The fish is thick and batter is crispy & delicious! Sausage is smaller than the traditional from a chip shop but with a choice of 1, 2 or 3 it’s probably more efficient than struggling to eat 2 large ones! Chips are perfect and because the shops is always busy everything is fresh to order. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Simply can’t fault this place at all. Staff friendly and accommodating. Easily one of the best fish and chips in Dunfermline and beyond. For me it’s not quite Anstruther level, but it’s not far behind. Not sure the reasons for no delivery but can’t mark them down for this. Always been a positive experience and fairly priced as value for money! Keep up the great work.

Best fish and chips I ever had so far. This place has it all. The service is super friendly and nice. Nice moist fish, not too oily not too much batter, so you just enjoy the taste of the fish. And the prices are very reasonable.

It had been a wee while since I had a fish supper. However while checking local restaurants noticed that this chip shop does gluten free food Tuesday & Sunday. When we went in, first impressions was good as a few people waiting for orders & a small tea room at the back which was full. Got said fish supper and have to say fish was delicious & and the batter nice and crispy. What is really good is that they also have gluton free vinegar & sauce. Obviously owner has really thought about their food. Would recommend if gluton free.

This is called Fish and Chips and is located in Chalmers Street Dunfermline (directly opposite the entrance to the car park). I was recommended this by a local as a 'MUST go to' place. Although I stay outside Dunfermline, it is well worth the journey into the town. I am a very fussy eater who enjoys FRESH fish. I am never disappointed when I visit. The food is cooked to order. The fish is a substantial size that you can actually tell it's fish. Like all their food, the chips are also cooked to order. The taste is amazing. I've recommended this place to many people and all state how impressed they have been with the standard of food. There is a small restaurant to the back and it is very popular. The cost of the food is a lot less than you would imagine, for the quality that is served. I may be wrong but I believe that they are the cheapest in the town. For me, if it's good food, it doesn't matter the cost. Smaller portions are available, so great for families. Fish and Chips closes at 9pm, so be early if you want a taste of great food. I think they are closed on Mondays. Check their website! Daytime parking is in the car park opposite, for which there is a charge - until after 6pm, then it's free.

Best chip shop. The woman behind the counter is a delight to talk to. Regularly travel down to Dunfermline and always stop in, highlight of the trip. Need to come to pitlochry to show them how it's done.

The BEST chippy in Fife by far !!! I would even say its on par if not better than with the one in Anstruther !!! Very friendly staff as well. The regular HADDOCK fish supper was beautiful...not a single bone to be found and the batter was light and crispy. Thank you guys 😊 I will definitely be back soon.

Gluten free with no fuss. great service from the ladies taking the order to the guiy wrapping the food up - perfect. fish was well cooked, GF and mufggle batter was crispy, cooked through (hate soggy raw batter inside). great place, really happy to have found it on our doorstep!

Absolutely by far the best chippie we have on offer in Dunfermline. The food is as fresh as can be, with a large menu to select from. Also a treat to see Red Pudding offered somewhere south of Perth! Very reasonably priced chippie, also with a small sit in section available for those who fancy something a little bit different. They also provide a gluten free menu on certain days of the week. Can't ever look past Jim Jack's! I think I need a chippie again for tea tonight...

This is the best fish and chips for miles around the Dunfermline area. I have been using this fish and chip shop since it opened. The haddock is all trimmed by hand and never had a bone in over two years. Tastiest haddock with first class chips and great value for money, especially when sitting in. The staff have all been coached in customer satisfaction by Fiona who always has a nice hello when she sees you. Jim works tirelessly behind the counter, cooking to order for every customer.

Popped in here for a family meal. The food was top notch! Haddock, king rib, fish cake, smoked sausage and chips. All divine! The batter was perfect, and the chips! Haven't had chips as good as these in years! Everything was freshly cooked. Lovely, helpful staff and the restaurant was spotless. Highly recommended this hidden gem.

Out of this world fish and chips. Did the dine in option, very busy little place and I can see why. The food is amazing , had a mini fish supper with curry sauce. Chips were incredible, very little residual oil. The fish had a really light and crispy batter and the curry sauce has a light kick with plenty of flavour. A gem of a place to eat. Thank you

We go regularly and every time the staff are super friendly and efficient, the dining in area is spotlessly clean and the Haddock is best anywhere that I know of. Good options on portion size. My wife is coeliac and needs the gluten free option, which again is the best that can be found.

As chippies go. You won't find much better anywhere. Fish tea- Breaded fish, chips, mushy peas, pot of tea, bread and butter.

Supberb fish n chips 😋. Everything is delicious, Jim & Fiona are so friendly. Defo give it a try. I only ever have fish n chips but others dishes everyone enjoys & keeps coming back every week or even more than once a week.

We stay near golden chip and never use it as its vile. In fact most of chippies in dunfermline are poor. But jim jacks wow. Weve been 3 times now and its yummy. Had a small fish supper can of juice and bread and butter for £8.20. They do a large fish tea for 11.20 and its huge. Always busy so you may wait for a table. Service is really good too really friendly. The only chippy il go to now. Definately give it a try

This place is the bane of my life. Since it opened up across from my office, it is a constant temptation. There are good chippy's in Dunfermline. This one is the stand out best of the bunch. Food is cooked to order, but you're rarely kept waiting long. Eat in, or take away you're assured a decent meal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Gluten free menu available on Tuesday and Sunday I think. Check for confirmation. Premises kept very clean. And if you ask nicely, they will do you a bag of batter bits, or scraps. Or whatever you call them where you come from. As I write this now I fancy a fish supper, but sadly I am stuck in the East Midlands for a few days and I cannot face the horror of the fish down here. Can't wait to come home and get the real deal.

Tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday. We went for the traditional options on the menu ( haggis supper and macaroni and cheese ). These came with a choice of options as well as bread and butter and two pots of tea. The portions were excellent as was the food. The menu contained a wide variety of options. We couldn't fault the service as we were warmly greeted and very well looked after. The toilet was very clean and well maintained. We will certainly be back and I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

Everything is cooked to order the place is very clean and tidy sitting in is great and it’s good value for money in fact they don’t charge enough for what you get. I have been a few times none and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Get the haggis pie! You won't regret it!

We were there on a Saturday night around 7pm. We walked in (there's no booking) and were quickly seated. The eating area was clean and tidy and well presented. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. We ordered a small fish supper, a breaded fish supper, a spicy haggis supper and a red pudding supper. All were tasty and the portions were great value for money with the supper coming with a drink, mushy peas and buttered bread as part of the price. Each dish is around £7-£9 which is very good for a sit in chippy tea. The service is quick and the food is excellent. If you haven't been served your food within 15 minutes, ask about it as the only reason that will happen is if your order is lost!! 😁

First time in tonight. Phoned ahead as not sure when sitting in restaurant closed. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and said she would keep us a seat. Which was very kind. Once in and seated we were introduced to Sophie who would be taking our order. And it was only her 2nd night working. She was a great wee waitress. The fish and chips and mushy peas were lush. And portion size was big. Well worth the money. The restaurant was lovely. Very clean and inviting. Staff friendly and accommodating. Reasonably priced. We will defo be back. Thank you again.

Fantastic to have such a great sit down fish and chips restaurant back in Dunfermline. Excellent food at a reasonable price, very clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive, the footfall inside the shop told you everything you needed to know about this place as it has already made it's mark with the public and will undoubtedly be the success it deserves to be.

Fish and chips looked so amazing that there was hardly any left to take a picture of by time we took our first breath. Lovely service and atmosphere as well!

We visited this cracking fish bar whilst we were in Dunfermline for the FC St. Pauli friendly. I had chips and mushy peas which were probably the best I have ever had; so good that I had a second portion. The staff were really friendly too. A gem of a chippy!
