Really enjoyed our lunch here, it's a small restaurant with a very personal feel. Service was smooth and friendly. Could not resist the seafood hamper to start, a real array of tastes. Herb crusted Halibut for main was perfect, fresh, cooked superbly, tasted great . The Pear & Amaretto Cheesecake with Walnut Ice cream also very, very good. Good to see all tables full for the lunch service, cosy atmosphere, and everyone with a smile on their face. Had not been here for awhile but will be back again soon. Very good value for money.

Absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish, the setting is amazing with stunning views and the food…exceptional. We honestly can’t recommend here enough, miss it and seriously miss out, we will be back!

Fantastic little gem. Utterly charming little place that offers stunning views. We had the hampers and they were absolutely delicious! Everything inside was just yummy! I especially liked the warm home made bread that we were served as well as the scallops. I also had the house Rose wine and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Excellent value for money and service was polite, friendly and very efficient. All in all a simply wonderful place that we will definitely be visiting again!

Such a gorgeous place! The family are so friendly and make you feel so welcome. The food is out of this world from the starters of Scallops, the mains of Seabass and Crab Linguine and the desserts! I had the Rhubard Crumble Cheesecake with ginger ice cream, My Husband had the Maple Apple Tart. All enjoyed with excellent service and a perfect view across the Forth. We also stayed overnight and again, we were so happy with the room and the continental Breakfast provided....enjoyed with a nice cup of tea and proper coffee. The sun was shining and you could see for miles. A perfect morning for us.

Great food as long as you love seafood and waterside location is lovely. I would walk down from the car park next time we visit though.

We dropped in on the off chance of a nice lunch with a scenic view. We got the view, the lunch was quite average. The dining room is roughly the size of a lounge in a 3 bed house and quite tired looking. We were seated and served promptly and we went for the hamper of starters to share. This was well presented and for the most part tasty but the tomato and goats cheese "tartlet" was literally tomatoes and cheese atop something similar to a mini cheddar and although flavoursome, is something that any amateur can put together. The lobster bisque lacked any shellfish flavour, more of a smoked paprika and tomato soup, which again was tasty but not what I expected. The salmon was delicious and there were plenty of crevettes in the cocktail. Scallops and fishcakes were what you would expect. I opted for the crab and chilli linguine (as the crab, pea and blue cheese risotto on the website had been recently substituted by this, although not sure why, its not exactly seasonal) and it was again, as expected. Ample crab flavour and well made linguine. My wife and son both had fish and chips, we were expecting a smaller, cheaper portion for our son (13) as it says they can cater for kids at lunch but he was given a full size fish which he didn't finish as he said the fish was very oily and the chips were crunchy, I tried a few of the chips from both my wife and sons plate and they were indeed undercooked and still had a slightly raw texture to them. They need to blanche the potatoes maybe rather than cook from raw. Just before our main came out, the other two diners in the room left so we had the room to ourselves and from that point on we were made to feel very uncomfortable by the lady server that kept coming into the room every 2 minutes or so just to rearrange a bit of cutlery here, a plate there and as soon as my wife and I had finished she appeared to take our plates and asked if our boy had finished to which we replied no. Approximately 3 mins later she was back again and she came over to our boy and said "can I take this now?" and we felt like we were being hurried out of there so they could finish a very quiet Friday lunch service. We declined dessert and asked for the bill, which came to us in under 30 seconds and within another 30 seconds our server was stood by me with card machine in hand before I'd even got my wallet out. We paid what we thought was a high price of £71 for the starter and 3 mains, 3 soft drinks and left. It's a tricky place to get to, well off the beaten path and possibly damaging to smaller cars. It is a great view however.

We had dinner here, ordering dinner already at lunch time (an obligatory choice to avoid having food waste, but then you can always order something more). The restaurant overlooking the beach has a few tables, gathered in a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The dinner was truly excellent, far above our expectations. The starter basket collects their best starters, fantastic! Everything else was also really excellent, the fish is absolutely their strong point. The price below what we expected

Wonderful setting, Anna collected us and returned us to the train station. It’s small and intimate and the food is just delicious. We had the hamper starter which allowed us to have samples of all the starters. So fresh and well presented. We had the monkfish and the half lobster. By far, the best monkfish main I have ever had. The lobster was served with mac n cheese and truffle fries. Delightful! They also made the best spicy margarita I have ever had. I cannot recommend this gem enough !!

Enjoyed a birthday celebration with my family. Food excellent. Lovely staff, very helpful. Owner, as a courtesy picked us up at the local train station and dropped us back their at the end of the evening as the road to the restaurant is very steep & narrow. Would definitely recommend

Having visited the restaurant several times a year for around 10 years and never been disappointed, today the kitchen absolutely excelled itself. It was the introduction of the festive menu and it was luxurious, beautifully presented and delicious. The hamper of starters is deceptive in how filling it is but what a treat to have a wee taste of everything. Salmon en croute with hollandaise and fondant potatoes really made me feel christmas has started. I'm actually tempted to go again while this menu is available...well done team

Birthday dinner here with nearest and dearest. The nights are darker at this time of year so we didn't get to enjoy the view as much as last time but this dining room has such a gorgeous location. We all enjoyed a three course meal and every single bite was perfection. Service was good and the ambience is relaxed. For sure we'll come back here again for future special occasions. Such a lovely treat.

A wee bit tricky to find, Sat bag took us up a dirt track & we parked & tried to walk down a steep hill to the restaurant to be met by the owner in a 4x4 picking up patrons at silver sands car park, now I ignored the option on the web site when booking, but would recommend parking there and asking for a lift, makes life easier and the owner is happy to do it! Regards to the food, absolutely delicious, we had fish cakes, then salmon & prawn rigatoni, and struggled to eat any more, but managed the blackberry I’ve cream sandwich, Wow, I love ice cream and this was one of the best I’d ever had, followed by really tasty coffee & shortbread! A quick care ride back to the car was appreciated. Highly recommended

The food was sensational. We ordered the hamper which was essentially a taster of all the starters. Just WOW!! Without doubt the best starters I have ever tasted. Every single mouthful was fabulous. The mains I ordered the prawn and chorizo rigatoni and my wife ordered hake in a bed of risotto. Just superb. Dessert again hit the heights. This is a hidden gem even though it was quite expensive, I think it was worth the price.

As a seafood lover I have visited many of the top seafood restaurants in Edinburgh and can't believe I have missed this gem on my doorstep. This restaurant beats all the places I have visited in the city and at a fraction of the price. The setting is idyllic and the quality of food is outstanding. If you appreciate seafood this place must be visited.

Excellent location with great views. Staff are attentive and helpful. The food was fantastic and well presented - recommend the hamper as a great starter. We ate outdoors. Overall the place looks s bit tired and some of the outdoor tables and the areas around them need a wee tidy up. The drive down is pretty tight - take them up on their offer of a lift.

First visit following numerous recommendations. Food and experience exceeded hopes. Food is first class - without the Michelin pretentiousness. Dining room is a former sitting room, so contained, and pine tables indicate the informality of the dining experience. Hannah - the proprietress - and her staff were all efficient and friendly. A dining experience to be recommended.

What a special place this is. A scenic short walk from the town leads you to this lovely hotel where we received a friendly welcome. The weather was fine so we had pre dinner drinks in the garden looking out over the estuary and harbour. All the staff were very professional and helpful. The quality of ingredients and how they were prepared and presented was excellent, including little extras that make it extra special. We were given a table at a window with a view, the atmosphere and decor in the restaurant were perfect. I’d definitely recommend to friends and would come back if in the area. The whole experience is exceptional value for money.

If you want to dine fresh sea food around Edinburgh this is the place. Make sure you do reserve a table as indoors there are only a few tables plus some outdoors. The food was very nice and the service impeccable. To reach there by car you need to drive a bit steep road. It’s doable if you are careful. If you dont want to risk use the large parking nearby and walk down for a few minutes. The the pasta or the sea bass. And look on the window…

We enjoyed a lovely evening at Room With A View last night. The food, wine and service were all exemplary. We were welcomed with some fresh bread and butter and an amuse-bouche compliments of the chef. We then had the starter hamper to share which had a lovely range of tasters deliciously prepared. The portions were perfect and beautifully presented. Our main courses of lobster and sea bass were top notch. The lobster came with a delicious side salad and lovely chips whilst the sea bass came with seasonal vegetables and was perfectly cooked. We were given a delicious passion fruit sorbet to prepare us for our desert and we finished our meal with the torched rhubarb desert which was served with honeycomb icecream and yogurt. A great end to the meal. We can’t wait to come back again. The quality of the locally sourced food as well as all the little touches and of course the view, make this a very pleasant dining experience. One I would highly recommend.

Food was good once we sorted out a table. Booked a pod . Arrived, no pod available. Didn’t take pod bookings after all??? Benches didn’t have fully enclosed cover to shelter from wind No car parking at restaurant. Misinformed re car park attendant letting us use car park instead sent down steep hill where there was no customer parking. Good to be honest from outset and would happily pay £2 for parking (if aware of no actual parking at restaurant) and not expect a pod after booking one. Won’t rush back. Beach cafe a much easier option . Did explain all above to staff.

Had lunch here on Saturday for the first time and it did not disappoint. Beautiful food, perfectly cooked, in a lovely setting. I lived in Aberdour in my high school years and was taking my own 'late teens and early 20's' sons to show them around, and thought, as my husband and I had walked the cliff walks many years ago, that this would be a great stop off. Can't recommend highly enough. Only think I would say is that the service was a little slow, but they were busy, and then later that day, I realised I'd had an email regarding 'pre-booking' to help reduce waste/be more sustainable etc, and unfortunately, I'd not seen it. So as well as helping on those fronts, had we pre-ordered, it might have made a difference to the service too. I'll know the next time - and there will definitely be a next time.

Best seafood in Fife, beautifully cooked.

Visiting Aberdour Castle for the morning and happened across this gem as we looked for somewhere for a quick lunch. One look at the menu put the taste buds into overdrive and we weren’t disappointed. Food and service of the highest quality. If you like fish, cooked to perfection, with a host of complementary flavours and brilliant scenery, then this is for you.Chef(s) = genius!

Room with a view restaurant was outstanding. Food was top class fine dining standard and the service was so welcoming and efficiently served. The ambiance with the small sized dining room made it a special occasion. The complimentary transport was particularly welcomed as the location is a bit off the beaten track. Wonderful seafood in the restaurant

I contemplated writing a review because this is the kind of special hidden gem you want to keep secret so the masses don't destroy it. I have lived in Fife for 9 years and my friend who joined me has lived his entire life in Scotland. Both of us never heard of this place. I decided to leave a review anyway because I believe the owners to be very humble and want to keep this place special. With 24 seating they could easily monopolise and add more especially outdoors but that would spoil the experience. They also could advertise on all the typical tourist places but they haven't. Living in St Andrews where all the restaurants crumble to tourism I found this to be very refreshing. It says a lot about the owners and that they want to protect such a special place. Hannah was very kind and accommodating to my requests. We had lunch here but what I really mean is we had a food 'experience'. The chef has such amazing talent. Everything we had was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. You can taste the freshness of being locally sourced. We sample tried every starter that was on the menu. We had Surf and Turf for main. Chocolate Delice and Apple & Caramel Mille Feuille.Also to note-the staff were attentive and friendly.I can't wait to go back. We spent just over £150 for the two of us but that is because we ordered so much. The prices are extremely reasonable we could have just had fish and chips for £14. The price does not matter at a place like this because the experience is priceless. My friend described it best- "This place is like my Birthday and Christmas all in one".

Was back at Room with a View for the first time in a few years and continue to be blown away by the excellent food and amazing customer service.I dined with a large party and everything our party ordered was delicious. The staff were very attentive and the views were just as spectacular as I remembered!

We were recommended "A Room with a View" in Aberdour by our lovely hosts at Cardinal's Folly. Lots of lovely seafood to choose from and I struggled to make a choice. We were required to make our food choices the day before. Eventually I decided on scallops to start, followed by seared tuna and a blackberry parfait to finish. My vegetarian husband started with goat's cheese and beetroot, followed by mushroom linguine and the cheese platter to follow. My brother selected the steak ciabata with chips and the caramel mille-feuille with apple sorbet. If choosing the seared tuna I would suggest stating just how cooked you would like your tuna to avoid it being over-seared. I prefer mine just a minute or two either side and nice and pink in the middle. This turned out to be a learning experience for both of us. We were given the option to eat indoors or outside in one of the pods and opted for outside where we enjoyed stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat. Staff were friendly and helpful and even checked what the cheeses were on the cheeseboard when asked to identify them. All in all a lovely experience and we would be happy to return next time we are in this part of the world.

I always love coming to Room with a View at the Forth View hotel. The menu changes regularly and is always first class.

We were a demanding family of 8 but our every whim was attended to efficiently and pleasantly. The staff were extremely friendly yet remained professional at all times. The food was varied, delicious and plentiful. The hake was my personal favourite; the butter and shrimp sauce was so complimentary. Thanks again to Hannah, Tim and the team for looking after us so well, we felt so special.
