Celebrating a family birthday meal. Beautiful food. Awesome scallop starter, followed by a sirloin steak - yumster, thanks to a French chef on top of his game. Suzie took our order and looked after the whole family throughout - what more can I say? You can trust the Boar's head with your special family event.

Had a wonderful meal between Christmas and New Year. Suzy who served us was brilliant - great service, really attentive and even shared the recipe for the lovely Scottish Garden cocktail I had. We had the scallops, smoked trout, sirloin steak and venison. All was really stunning but the chicken skin crumb on the scallops made them the best I’d ever tasted. It was busy (rightly a very popular spot) but the service was prompt and all of the team were really welcoming. Amazing to find somewhere that is dog friendly with such great food, setting and staff. We will be back!

We went to the Boar's Head as we had heard good reports about it. The reports were correct and our group of 5 enjoyed a lovely lunch. The food and the service was excellent. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed but professional. Our server Susie looked after us well and there were no delays with all courses arriving promptly. We all ate different things but agreed the food could not be faulted. Very happy to recommend and we will return.

Went along to The Boar's Head for Sunday Lunch (4 people + 1 dog). The restaurant area is nice and cosy, exactly what you'd expect from a good pub. The food was fantastic, really simple and well cooked with good, local ingredients. Suzie our server was great and we couldn't fault the service - really attentive without being too fussy. Would highly recommend. We were £200 all in for 4 people for 3 courses incl drinks and tip which was good value for the quality of food and good portion sizes.

We went to Boar's Head restaurant last week for a traditional Sunday roast. We are discovering local places and we were really impressed by this one. The location is lovely, in the evening hours the area looks like some shots from Outlander (and actually is not far from an actual Outlander's filming village of Falkland). The restaurant itself is cosy, warm and just feels right for Small Scottish village. They have real fire! Food? Delicious! Beef was tender, veggies were perfectly cooked. They didn't overcooked a single piece of greens. Top notch! (There's nothing worse than overcooked vegetables which are served in most of the places). The chef know what he's doing. Horseradish sauce was so good I had to ask for second portion. And on top of that we had a cherry on top - the service! Suzy and Ross! Can't remember the last time I was so impressed by service. They are so good at what they do. They make you feel homely, welcome. You know these type of people that you just met but you feel like they're your long time friends? That's them! Suzy answered all my questions, making my choice of roast easy and straightforward. Ross made me fantastic nonalcoholic amaretto sour, and we chatted about the Scottish whisky and it's geographic characteristics for good few minutes. Again! Right people to do these jobs. #localdiscovery #braw #feedmyface #whatayorkshirepudding #omnomnom Will definitely visit again!

Having visited this establishment on two previous occasions for Sunday roasts which were very good, I booked it again for a family visit for my wife's birthday. On arrival, there was long waiting times to be served. As it was busy, I understood this although it was a bit frustrating. After the starter was finished, another long delay waiting on the main course which was for Sunday roasts and one burger for my grandson. The roasts were lovely although very small portions. I noticed my grandson stopped eating his burger and left the table to go outside. I turned his plate around and saw that the burger was bright red and raw under the surface. I called over the waitress and showed her this raw meat burger which had not been properly cooked. She took the plate away back to the kitchen. The rest of the party finished their roast beef meals and by this time my grandson had returned to the table. I caught the attention of another waitress serving(possibly the owner). I explained again what had happened and informed her that we had all finished our meals and yet there was no replacement burger for my grandson. She went away to the kitchen and came back with a new burger and some chips. This time it was properly cooked and we all sat about waiting on him eating his burger and chips main course (which was £32 including the soup starter that was also left). There was no offer of a discount or no charge for this grossly overpriced burger and chips. I paid the bill and we left the premises extremely disappointed with this visit with what was supposed to be a happy birthday occasion. I am afraid that the Boar's Head have let themselves down quite badly with their poor cooking and greedy attitude.

A picture says more than a thousand words. These are the remainders of a piece of meat which is sold as ‘Special Beef’. The eatable bit tasted like an overcooked pork chop. No price listed on the menu, but the invoice showed a whopping 38 pounds, 50% more than the most expensive dish with a price on the menu. But the feeling of a rip-off already started with the 3.5 pound for the appr. 10 almonds as a first bite. Or the grey-green duck liver pate, which was throwed on a plate with some greasy bread. And no, a ‘discount’ of 8 pounds for the terrible meat didn’t change things. The only star is for the friendly service, but that is no reason to visit this place.

Anyone who doesn't give this place 5 stars is absolutely not worth your time or the light of day. We went here on Sunday 15th September for the 3 course menu for £38 per person and it was just an utterly incredible meal. We booked because it was my birthday weekend but we already knew about The Boar's Head from the recent Courier Food and Drink Awards where they were rightly crowned as Restaurant Of The Year! We also work in hospitality and have owned licensed cafes for 10 years, so we know how things work and how hard it is right now for anyone in the business in 2024. The team here know exactly what they are doing and - MOST IMPORTANTLY - they know who their customer base is and they make their customers feel special when thay are on the premises. Without those two things it's just not going to work. Thank goodness for like-minded hospo people that know how to make local, seasonal ingredients taste their best for a price that doesn't bankrupt you and leave you feeling cheated. The portions are huge, the service is friendly and extremely well timed, the price is spot on, the quality is exceptional and the flavour is out of this world. Book now because fairly soon they are going to be working to a waiting list so get in first before it's unobtainable. #highlyrecommended

On my last visit under the previous chef I couldn’t have recommended the Boars Head enough. My most recent visit, with chef Reekie as the new head chef. I won’t be back. The food was well below par: flavourless, soup was tame and barely warm, pâté starter was fresh out of a packet, main course was a complete let down and tasted like a reheated meal. Had the female service staff not been so incredibly warming, friendly and incredible service - we would have complained. However I thought best to leave and simply not return, but on reflection I feel this is one of the most overpriced meals for sub standard food I have paid. Please visit for a trip to the bar and for some lovely service, think twice about ordering food - you’d be better with a m&s meal for two.

An extremely poor experience! Menu was very limited to three dishes including 1 vegetarian and sole relaced by cheap coley (Pollock). Beef option was sold at 'market price', essentially a cheap gristly and small sirloin type steak which turned out to be priced at £38.50. Venison was on the menu but none of that left either. Felt cheated!

My 2nd time here. It's one of the few places in Fife that serves a Sunday Roast so it's worth a visit for that. We all had the roast beef with all the trimmings. Also had potato soup with bacon. a perfect starter, missus had the pate. Nice pint of Neck Oil IPA too.Just an awesome meal, served by people with smiles on their faces. That in itself is hard to find these days. Highly recommended

My experience was okay at the Boar’s Head, but I wasn’t wowed as I had hoped. The food was good and evidently ingredients were of high quality, but I do think there were elements to the dinner service that let the experience down. Didn’t ruin the meal, but I felt were quite amateurish mistakes? Firstly, the starters arrived before any drinks did. I was told that’s because I ordered a cocktail. My fault? Sorry. Then, the bottle of wine arrived with its cork already removed. We didn’t want to cause a fuss so we just drank it, but I really do feel that bottles of wine should be opened table-side, I think that’s just good practice. Then, my dessert wine was served in a chipped glass. I raised this and the waitress apologised and offered to replace it which I declined. I totally appreciate these are just small things. But I do think they make a difference to the experience, that I would want to know about. The waitress was nice and friendly. And I appreciate the commitment to sourcing local ingredients. The chefs are evidently talented.

What a great find while cycling south through Scotland. Arrived late evening to find it was a gastro pub. We were made welcome despite our grubby appearance and the landlord sorted us a meal from the lunchtime menu. We were even recommended a quiet place to camp overnight. A great pub and will definitely visit again.

Had a fantastic lunch with my grandmother and siblings for her birthday. They were very accommodating of my dietary requirements. Staff were friendly, attentive but not intrusive. The main was lovely however the dessert was divine. Katie, our server, was a credit to the establishment - couldn’t be more helpful or cheery. Will be back!

So disappointing. The humous was totally tasteless with wet, soggy decor... (the pansies were pretty ). The pivithier filling was bland, tasteless and overprocessed. Overpriced, mean portions, sold under the guise of " fine dining ".

Wonderful warm welcome & great service continued from there on in (your waitress does a great job). Had lunch with the family & everyone of us was suitably impressed with every course, delicious. Wine & beers a great choice if in the area again would definitely head straight to the Boars Head once more. Quality. Thank you

Absolutely delighted to find this gem in the heart of Auchtermuchty, it was simply brilliant from start to finish. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent (we had Sunday lunch), and the restaurant has such a great feel. Very dog and child friendly, we will undoubtedly be back.

The worst dinner ever.......the pidgeon starter came after 40minutes on a cold plate and had a burnt boney carcas and foot with HALF a breast!!. The venison main course was smaller than the starter again served on a cold plate with a jus that was a teaspoon of marmite mixed with a tablespoon of warm water. The buttered parsnip wasnt buttered and being now out of season was totally tasteless. The carb on this dish was a postage sized wafer of burnt potato. Absolute disgrace

Lovely restaurant, good atmosphere and nice buzz about the place. Booked for a table of 4 for Sunday lunch. Everything was good. The only faults I can say was the Plum and Custard tart was the pastry was underdone and could not taste the plum, also the ice cream could have been a bit bigger scoop but thats just me. Would highly recommend and will be back.

Fabulous easter lunch! After hearing some great reviews from friends, we decided to give the Sunday lunch a try. Safe to say it was one of the most memorable and filling dinners we’ve ever had in Scotland. Between is we had the Beef, Lamb shank and Venison and were soon stealing morsels from each others plates. Finished with a plum custard tart and creme brule’s and washed down with a bottle of the house red, we left ready for a nap on the sofa. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other items on the menu.

Booked lunch for my son's birthay. Delighted to discover we had a private room with a lovely fire to warm us up. The menu read well with the choice of desserts a particular delight to me. All the dishes we had were really tasty and beautifully presented. The price of the three course lunch represented excellent value for money and the wine list provided a good choice without breaking the bank. Highly recommend you pay The Grange Inn a visit soon - we shall certainly be back
