This is the second time we have celebrated Christmas together at the Boar's Head. Food was fantastic and the atmosphere and service wonderful. Susie was amazing and we loved hearing her stories of her yachting days. Happy Christmas to all at the Boar's Head.

We went to the Boar's Head as we had heard good reports about it. The reports were correct and our group of 5 enjoyed a lovely lunch. The food and the service was excellent. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed but professional. Our server Susie looked after us well and there were no delays with all courses arriving promptly. We all ate different things but agreed the food could not be faulted. Very happy to recommend and we will return.

Repeat visitor to The Boar's Head, and as before a fantastic meal. Friendly and efficient service from Susie. Christmas menu was on offer today, with non-festive offerings if preferred (though the turkey was great!). Dog friendly (with dog free areas too). We will be back to this wonderful local eatery.

The Boar's Head Fife is Fantastic. They seated our party of 12 straight away. Drink, beer and cider selections are great. The food menu is short but unique. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Everyone in our party loved their selection. The risotto was excellent, cod was fresh and delicious. The soup was good as was the fish and chips. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen closes at 8pm so get there early. Save room for the creme brulee.

The one negative thing about Scotland is we genuinely don’t produce good Sunday Roasts, however the one at the Boars Head was 10/10. The prices are affordable and the produce was amazing. Staff were perfect, polite and well trained. From reading some of the reviews which are negative about this establishment is really surprising as I had and amazing experience. It’s really good to see the owner of the place replying back to the nasty fake reviews ! Keep it up, we will be back 😂🙌🏽

Great food at this sole pub in Auchtermuchty. Great staff on the bar and serving at the table. Good beers. A bit isolated in the snug, but perhaps it helped protect the pub from our group of 7. Having visited this establishment on two previous occasions for Sunday roasts which were very good, I booked it again for a family visit for my wife's birthday. On arrival, there was long waiting times to be served. As it was busy, I understood this although it was a bit frustrating. After the starter was finished, another long delay waiting on the main course which was for Sunday roasts and one burger for my grandson. The roasts were lovely although very small portions. I noticed my grandson stopped eating his burger and left the table to go outside. I turned his plate around and saw that the burger was bright red and raw under the surface. I called over the waitress and showed her this raw meat burger which had not been properly cooked. She took the plate away back to the kitchen. The rest of the party finished their roast beef meals and by this time my grandson had returned to the table. I caught the attention of another waitress serving(possibly the owner). I explained again what had happened and informed her that we had all finished our meals and yet there was no replacement burger for my grandson. She went away to the kitchen and came back with a new burger and some chips. This time it was properly cooked and we all sat about waiting on him eating his burger and chips main course (which was £32 including the soup starter that was also left). There was no offer of a discount or no charge for this grossly overpriced burger and chips. I paid the bill and we left the premises extremely disappointed with this visit with what was supposed to be a happy birthday occasion. I am afraid that the Boar's Head have let themselves down quite badly with their poor cooking and greedy attitude.

A picture says more than a thousand words. These are the remainders of a piece of meat which is sold as ‘Special Beef’. The eatable bit tasted like an overcooked pork chop. No price listed on the menu, but the invoice showed a whopping 38 pounds, 50% more than the most expensive dish with a price on the menu. But the feeling of a rip-off already started with the 3.5 pound for the appr. 10 almonds as a first bite. Or the grey-green duck liver pate, which was throwed on a plate with some greasy bread. And no, a ‘discount’ of 8 pounds for the terrible meat didn’t change things. The only star is for the friendly service, but that is no reason to visit this place.

Anyone who doesn't give this place 5 stars is absolutely not worth your time or the light of day. We went here on Sunday 15th September for the 3 course menu for £38 per person and it was just an utterly incredible meal. We booked because it was my birthday weekend but we already knew about The Boar's Head from the recent Courier Food and Drink Awards where they were rightly crowned as Restaurant Of The Year! We also work in hospitality and have owned licensed cafes for 10 years, so we know how things work and how hard it is right now for anyone in the business in 2024. The team here know exactly what they are doing and - MOST IMPORTANTLY - they know who their customer base is and they make their customers feel special when thay are on the premises. Without those two things it's just not going to work. Thank goodness for like-minded hospo people that know how to make local, seasonal ingredients taste their best for a price that doesn't bankrupt you and leave you feeling cheated. The portions are huge, the service is friendly and extremely well timed, the price is spot on, the quality is exceptional and the flavour is out of this world. Book now because fairly soon they are going to be working to a waiting list so get in first before it's unobtainable. #highlyrecommended

Chef Reekie went out of his way to make sure we all had something delicious to eat. Everything was absolutely perfect and I'd thoroughly recommend any item on the menu. I personally had a langoustine starter and a steak for my main course. Both were to die for. Due to our allergies my family and I don't often go out to eat and the team at The Boars Head really made my brother's birthday something special! On my last visit under the previous chef I couldn’t have recommended the Boars Head enough. My most recent visit, with chef Reekie as the new head chef. I won’t be back. The food was well below par: flavourless, soup was tame and barely warm, pâté starter was fresh out of a packet, main course was a complete let down and tasted like a reheated meal. Had the female service staff not been so incredibly warming, friendly and incredible service - we would have complained. However I thought best to leave and simply not return, but on reflection I feel this is one of the most overpriced meals for sub standard food I have paid. Please visit for a trip to the bar and for some lovely service, think twice about ordering food - you’d be better with a m&s meal for two.

My experience was okay at the Boar’s Head, but I wasn’t wowed as I had hoped. The food was good and evidently ingredients were of high quality, but I do think there were elements to the dinner service that let the experience down. Didn’t ruin the meal, but I felt were quite amateurish mistakes? Firstly, the starters arrived before any drinks did. I was told that’s because I ordered a cocktail. My fault? Sorry. Then, the bottle of wine arrived with its cork already removed. We didn’t want to cause a fuss so we just drank it, but I really do feel that bottles of wine should be opened table-side, I think that’s just good practice. Then, my dessert wine was served in a chipped glass. I raised this and the waitress apologised and offered to replace it which I declined. I totally appreciate these are just small things. But I do think they make a difference to the experience, that I would want to know about. The waitress was nice and friendly. And I appreciate the commitment to sourcing local ingredients. The chefs are evidently talented.

Fantastic food as always. Staff very friendly and atmosphere lovely. Nice gesture that the mum's got a posy of daffodils as the bill being paid. :)

This was a feast of a lunch with impeccable service. It’s only half hour away from me so looking forward to eating my way through the Devine menu.

Great to have such excellent food (almost) on my doorstep. Have been 3 times so far. As a carnivore, I thoroughly enjoyed the vegan option on my first visit! Dog friendly is a bonus, though we've only taken them once. First choice for any special meal out.

Difficult as to know where to start…..staying locally for a few nights before heading further up north. Town fairly quiet but the reviews on Boars Head tempted us. Oh My I am so glad they did. From walking in, the welcome was delightful. Treats for the dogs and a water bowl straight away. Choice of drinks very good and served well. Met a couple of the locals who were very chatty and hospitable, just a nice place to be and chat. Met the staff and the owners who were all very hospitable and friendly. Our table for the evening was set very nicely …starters fabulous and then the main course came and was fabulous too…what more could we ask for. If we were wanting a half way stop for further up north would not hesitate to look at staying local to here so we knew we could get such an amazing night with very very good food.

Had a brilliant meal in The Boars Head last night. The food was amazing. I started with the steak tartar something I have never tried before but would certainly have again. This was followed by the beef, cooked to perfection, served with potato terrine that I just loved and a big crunchy onion ring. Pudding was the custard tart that was a great finish to the meal. The sea trout, venison, and chicken were all big hits with the rest of the family. A special thanks to our servers Paul and Ross. Already thinking about what I will try when we next go back.

Lovely restaurant and food was delicious. Some good menu choices and a chance to try something new. My husband had the wood pigeon after watching chefs cook it on tv, it lived up to its reviews. Staff very friendly too. Well worth the trip to Auchtermuchty.

A fabulous find! Came here for lunch & delighted to find a great combination of great food & good service. The kiln smoked salmon starter was delicious, followed by a great risotto This meal was excellent value given the quality & presentation of the food Just disappointed it’s taken us too long to find it. We’ll definitely be back; Sunday lunch looks amazing. Thank you to the whole team for a lovely lunch.

The food was incredible, I've eaten in a few choice places in St Andrews and enjoyed the food however the meals here are on another level and well presented. The local waitress Izzy provided a great service.

The Boar’s Head is our local and we’ve enjoyed several meals here as a family over the last couple of years. The food and service is always excellent but this time we came away with mixed feelings. The prices are now really top end and losing the cheaper pub classic options like the fish and chips and burger I think is a mistake. It’s really hard to justify the cost now, despite the quality of the food and cooking. I expect that the overheads for a small business like this are just going up and up so it may be somewhat out of their hands but we’ll have to really think hard about visiting again sadly. I really want the place to thrive. There’s so much to admire about what they do. The quality of the food is without question but there is a ceiling and for first time we’ve come away a bit in doubt if we can justify a future visit.

Disappointing compared to previous visit. Ordered bread and olives for nibbles. After 25 minutes had to chase up order. Starter arrived 1 hour after ordering. Main course 1.5 hours after ordering. My pheasant starter was lovely and my sole main course was tasty but a very small fillet of sole. We had just finished our starter and a waitress appeared asking us we wanted to look at the dessert menu. I had to let her know that we had not yet been served our main course. My Wife’s venison was very over cooked. We gave feedback to the waitress and she shared it with the manager but no apology from the manager. The young waitress was apologetic. First time in years I have not left a tip because the service was so slow. I have to say this experience was a big contrast to our last visit when the food was exquisite and the service was excellent. I’m not sure we will be back.

Booked lunch for my son's birthay. Delighted to discover we had a private room with a lovely fire to warm us up. The menu read well with the choice of desserts a particular delight to me. All the dishes we had were really tasty and beautifully presented. The price of the three course lunch represented excellent value for money and the wine list provided a good choice without breaking the bank. Highly recommend you pay The Grange Inn a visit soon - we shall certainly be back
