Lovely restaurant, good atmosphere and nice buzz about the place. Booked for a table of 4 for Sunday lunch. Everything was good. The only faults I can say was the Plum and Custard tart was the pastry was underdone and could not taste the plum, also the ice cream could have been a bit bigger scoop but thats just me. Would highly recommend and will be back.

The dinner exceeded our expectations. Amazing food, friendly service. We traveled around Scotland, we ate in other restaurants, but the food in this restaurant was top class😋thanks to the hosts and the great team🙏

Fabulous easter lunch! After hearing some great reviews from friends, we decided to give the Sunday lunch a try. Safe to say it was one of the most memorable and filling dinners we’ve ever had in Scotland. Between is we had the Beef, Lamb shank and Venison and were soon stealing morsels from each others plates. Finished with a plum custard tart and creme brule’s and washed down with a bottle of the house red, we left ready for a nap on the sofa. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other items on the menu.

This is a hidden gem. The food is spectacular. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

This was a feast of a lunch with impeccable service. It’s only half hour away from me so looking forward to eating my way through the Devine menu.

Great to have such excellent food (almost) on my doorstep. Have been 3 times so far. As a carnivore, I thoroughly enjoyed the vegan option on my first visit! Dog friendly is a bonus, though we've only taken them once. First choice for any special meal out.

Difficult as to know where to start…..staying locally for a few nights before heading further up north. Town fairly quiet but the reviews on Boars Head tempted us. Oh My I am so glad they did. From walking in, the welcome was delightful. Treats for the dogs and a water bowl straight away. Choice of drinks very good and served well. Met a couple of the locals who were very chatty and hospitable,just a nice place to be and chat. Met the staff and the owners who were all very hospitable and friendly. Our table for the evening was set very nicely …starters fabulous and then the main course came and was fabulous too…what more could we ask for. If we were wanting a half way stop for further up north would not hesitate to look at staying local to here so we knew we could get such an amazing night with very very good food.

A fabulous find! Came here for lunch & delighted to find a great combination of great food & good service. The kiln smoked salmon starter was delicious, followed by a great risotto This meal was excellent value given the quality & presentation of the food Just disappointed it’s taken us too long to find it. The food was incredible, I've eaten in a few choice places in St Andrews and enjoyed the food however the meals here are on another level and well presented. The local waitress Izzy provided a great service.

The Boar’s Head is our local and we’ve enjoyed several meals here as a family over the last couple of years. The food and service is always excellent but this time we came away with mixed feelings. The prices are now really top end and losing the cheaper pub classic options like the fish and chips and burger I think is a mistake. It’s really hard to justify the cost now, despite the quality of the food and cooking. I expect that the overheads for a small business like this are just going up and up so it may be somewhat out of their hands but we’ll have to really think hard about visiting again sadly. I really want the place to thrive. There’s so much to admire about what they do. The quality of the food is without question but there is a ceiling and for first time we’ve come away a bit in doubt if we can justify a future visit.

Disappointing compared to previous visit. Ordered bread and olives for nibbles. After 25 minutes had to chase up order. Starter arrived 1 hour after ordering. Main course 1.5 hours after ordering. My pheasant starter was lovely and my sole main course was tasty but a very small fillet of sole. We had just finished our starter and a waitress appeared asking us we wanted to look at the dessert menu. I had to let her know that we had not yet been served our main course. My Wife’s venison was very over cooked. We gave feedback to the waitress and she shared it with the manager but no apology from the manager. The young waitress was apologetic. First time in years I have not left a tip because the service was so slow. I have to say this experience was a big contrast to our last visit when the food was exquisite and the service was excellent. I’m not sure we will be back.

Proposal!! As we use the pub regularly and our relationship has grown around the pub I decided to use the venue to pop the question to my (lucky?????) Other half, I asked the management if this would be OK and they went above and beyond to make it amazing, letting the kids hide so they could come out and surprise my partner as well as gifting us champagne to toast the deal! And a hand decorated dessert plate!Once again amazing service! Thanks the happy couple!

Really delicious food. Beautiful, fresh ingredients. We visited with our wee dog and had the set lunch menu which was great value for money. Both food and service were very good.

We have been to the Boar’s Head half a dozen times post-Covid and they continue to get better on every visit. When we first visited the dishes were good, but now the meals there are excellent. Most recently we went for Sunday roast, and we had the pork belly. It was delicious! Portions were hearty, seasonal vegetables were nicely done, Yorkshire pudding impressive, and presentation was inviting. The wine list is decent in offerings and price. Beer selection is good too. The ambiance is warm, cozy, and often bustling, which can make conversation hard to hear. The wait staff are friendly and attentive, and the kitchen always manage to get orders out in a timely manner even when the place is busy. I look forward to returning to check out their new offerings, even if parking can be a little tricky to find!

The Boards Head was a birthday gift for my husband's 70th birthday, we went for lunch, which was wonderful. The decor was tasteful done and keeping with the building. The food was amazing and the staff was very informative and friendly. I have given 5 stars for most but only 4 for the atmosphere because it was very cold in the restaurant even though there was a wood fire on.

Just amazing! I’ve been a few times, but after sampling the new menu I’m compelled to do a review. Wood pigeon to start and venison saddle main was simply some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Great to have such a local asset.

Couldnt fault how good this place was. I had pigeon for a starter and sole for main. Both tasted absolutely delicious and presentation was beautiful. Cocktails went down a treat too. We had been told by friends and family that it was somewhere we should visit. We visited just after Christmas and we were not disappointed. The food and service was exceptional. In particular, for desert I had Textures of Chocolate which was a sensation! Bravo! It has a wonderful, cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Just what you need on a cold December night. Always have the most fantastic time here! The expresso martinis are out of this world. The food is fantastic and the staff are always welcoming and even came up with a custom cocktail as I was missing Thanksgiving in America when I visited once. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Fife!

Decided to come by and have Lunch, really very good. Staff very friendly food is excellent could have just had the soup 2 or 3 bowls easily, the turkey dinner was the same, turkey was moist, honey roasted carrots and parsnip(really7 tasted the Honey)cranberry sauce biggest berries and tart cuts through the roast and gravy. Could not complain one bit with the service. Staff were fantastic 👏. Bar manager came to explain the cocktails. Meals tasted great ,let down slightly on mash portion, and also the gravy was slightly watery. The atmosphere was good however a bit of a mix on the music. 100% recommended, though. 👌

We went there after visiting Lindores Distillery, looking for a dog friendly place to have a latish lunch. Food was excellent as was the service.

Wife & I had a lovely 3 course dinner. Starter of scallops or mushrooms on sourdough bread was delicious. Main courses were Aubergine with a black garlic butter mash as well as venison with sautéed potato and berry jus was superb. Deserts consisted of nutmeg crème brûlée and chocolate fondant. Both were delicious. A very impressive choice of locally picked produce made it all even better knowing you, the customer is helping local, reliable businesses. I cannot tell you in so few words how fantastic The Boar’s Head is. Three of us dined here on Wednesday night. We were greeted by friendly staff and patrons and quickly sat down at our table surrounded by fantastical country decor. I opted for a delicious Ossian Stout while my parter and our friend selected non- alcoholic drinks. Our servers were delightful and the treats kept coming! A warm bowl of crispy potato skins (just while we decided) followed by an indulgent Gougères to amuse our taste buds. This was before the food we actually ordered!! We all opted for mains (although the starters were extremely tempting - seasonal and local and all sounded delicious). I had the Aubergine main (Wow!! Pack a punch in the flavour department!) my parter went with the pork (amazing!!) and our guest selected the fish and chips (crispy, succulent and in his words ‘unbeatable’). Dessert was to die for - I had nutmeg creme brûlée (!!!) while our guest opted for the chocolate fondant. The chef had an issue with the fondant so sent out a refreshing raspberry sorbet with tiny lemon balm sprigs while the fondant was re-made. (I should note - the chef didn’t send the first fondant. What love for the food and perfection) The level of detail, passion for food, comfortable welcoming surroundings. Brilliant atmosphere, delicious & exciting food, great drink…. Is it the best restaurant in Fife … maybe?!
