After searching for somewhere nice to have coffee and cake with our dog obediently following us, we stumbled across the Coffee Stop (across from the Rothesay Castle). This was a treat! The mother and daughter running the cafe were so nice and welcoming, and greeted our Cockapoo like an old family member. We both had the Lemon Drizzle cake , which was excellent. One touch I liked was the Americano coffee , where the basic coffee was given to me alongside a jug of hot water so I could dilute it according to my own taste . Excellent visit, and will definitely go back on our next visit to Rothesay.

We got off the ferry and relied on google maps to find somewhere for lunch our little boy was so excited to find this little coffee shop with a view of the castle and was in and sat down before we had got through the door but what a find it was. We were welcomed in like old friends. The food was tasty and so reasonably priced. We had toasties and cheesecake which was homemade and delicious. The mother and daughter duo in the shop were so friendly and chatted away amiably with us especially our little boy who has asd and felt so comfortable here which isn’t always the case. They made recommendations of things to do around the island as well. All in it was a lovely lunch, in a lovely setting and I can not recommended The coffee stop enough. In the words of my little boy the best place in Scotland it will be a must visit for us next time we are here.

Two of us had the homemade lentil and vegetable soup which was delicious very tasty, the other had freshly made to order roast beef, salad and mustard sandwich. Our star of the show is the homemade cheesecake which is absolutely fabulous. You need to taste it to appreciate how delicious it is. All served with a generous size pot of tea. Great value for money. The Coffee Stop is used by both locals and tourists alike. The locals and staff are very welcoming. This little cafe is definitely worth a visit. I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
