Driving along Loch Lomond admiring the wee beautiful places like Aldochlay, Luss and Inverbeg. We started to feel a little hungry, it was early morning, sun was out with a wee bit of rain, we stop at the Tarbet Tea Rooms. It was like being in someone house very welcoming and the people were just great, we all (Three of us) had a breakfast of eggs, bacon, black pudding tattie scones, mushrooms and baked beans with a nice pot of Earl Grey tea, presentation was great and the staff could not have been more friendly, the price was reasonable, I would have paid more it was worth it. Then we were on our way over to Loch Fyne and visit the Clan Campbell castle at Inverary. Great Day.

I think this small tea room is more than excellent. The teas and coffees are always delicious and the range of hot and cold snacks would surely satisfy most tastes. You're sure to receive a warm welcome the moment you step in the door and the service is remarkably quick. A terrific place for a short break when en route to or from the Rest and be Thankful or travelling alongside Loch Lomond but it's probably worth bearing in mind that it closes mid-afternoon when things are quiet. I plan my journeys around the tea room and wouldn't stop anywhere else.

We stopped mid morning for a hot drink. The cafe is quaint but any cafe using tablecloths needs to ensure they are washed and changed regularly. Ours had numerous small stains and crumbs on it.One of the tea cups on our table had a clear tea ring visible. The lid of the coffee pot was also greasy. The tea and coffee were good but the whole place, including the toilet, needs a thorough clean. Sitting outside may be a better option on a good day.

Although it didn't look much from the outside, the place has a comfortable, quirky feel about it, and the lady who served us was friendly and chatty.More to the point, the food was lovely - much better than the appearance might have suggested. We didn't go for anything fancy - a bacon and brie panini, and a roll and square sausage - but everything was tasty, and the ingredients were good quality. It's like an elderly lady's living room. The loo has modern wall boards but looks like it's been painted in the dark!!! It had magazines that you can read which ironically seemed to be mainly interior design publications. The first thing I noticed was that it smells really greasy when you walk in, which put me off a little. However we stayed and had soup and a sandwich. We have an annual charity cycle from Glasgow to Oban and we break the journey at the Tarbet Tea Room. We have been doing this over a 10 year period and have always enjoyed the experience. We have had every thing from the breakfast to the scones and coffee. All have been great and the friendly staff offer a first class service. The ambience of the place is good too. If I am in the area I will always stop and there is ample car parking at the tearoom.

Lovely staff always cheery and welcoming. Food is great, been a regular customer for years. It's the best place to go for breakfast in the area. Great for families as children can pick and choose- very accommodating to dietary requirements/issues.

Myself and my wife popped in for a tea and coffee and some cake. We did not enjoy it from start to finish. We had a dirty table which no one offered to clean and also for a tea room there cakes were very basic and not nice. Won't be going back unless standards are lifted..

Stopped for a late breakfast and had lovely freshly made bacon and egg roll and an enormous pot of tea. The tea was served in lovely vintage cups. The staff were very friendly and served with a smile. Will certainly stop again.

Lovely cake here - highly recommend the millionaires cake! Pleasant staff and a nice time. We arrived a bit later in afternoon and it was a little messy around (floor and tables needed wiping) but this was probably just after a very busy service and otherwise, a charming place to visit.

Agree with other comments. Looks good from the outside and they probably justify the higher than average prices by their strategic location at the crossroads. Coffee from an instant machine was okay, tray bakes were fine. Service was offhand, confusing I think just who was doing who a favour. Worst point was the "aircraft taking off" style noise from the drinks cooler. We often drive up to Inverary and wont call here again.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

When open (it has now closed permanently); it was a great wee eating house! We went there often. It will be sadly missed, used by many locals, tourists and organisations as an affordable restaurant.
