The best restaurants serving British food in Scotland

Before you order any food, just check the catering staff will stay longer enough. I booked a table here on a Friday evening at 7pm. It's like a large hall with kitchen tables & chairs with a bar at one end. The staff were welcoming. I ordered from a limited menu and the food was good and value for the money. Before 8pm I tried to order a sweet only to be told the catering had gone home! I know I was the only one in the pub (some sat outside), but it would've been nice to be informed the staff were leaving early.

Average drink and no charging point. The stuff asked me to sit next to a bin to charge my laptop. Really nice customer service and won’t come back again. Hope they understand the meaning for a cafe is to let people sit down and enjoy their drinks not sitting next to a bin.

Didn't have any food but this place was a useful haven from the torrential downpour. Had a decent Belhaven pint while the weather calmed down

Absolute joke of a place! It took over 2hours for a delivery and when I called to enquire how much longer I only got a poor reason. Called again and I could only talk to a young girl as the owner wouldn’t speak. Food was just warm and no apology was given by driver either. Will never recommend!

This is the first bad review I have ever written. The people are lovely but the somebody has redesigned the service system. It is the worst and most inefficient system I have ever seen. You will wait a v long time to get served. Somebody should take responsibility for this disaster.

Nice bar, nothing too exciting for me. It was dead and didn't really feel welcome. Maybe I missed all the excitement. Not sure what to make of it.

Amazing service from staff that are so friendly. Drinks were good and plenty of places to sit. The animals were all a bit random, although interesting to look at.

Best scone I’ve ever tasted! They have such a variety of different types of freshly made scones from plan to fruit. After a tough decision, I chose the rhubarb and ginger - wow! What a flavour mixed with the fresh cream and strawberry jam! They are so large that sadly I struggled to eat it all. The garden centre is worth a visit as well with such a variety of items for the home and garden, but I would highly recommend the trip for the scones alone !

Started off nice after the new ownership but sadly its back to being rotten.The pizza crunch was soggy & dripping with grease and the chips had a horrible oily taste.I thought the italian sausage on the pizza would be something better but its just plain pepperoni.The pizza was also very thin and could have done with another 5 mins in the oven.very disappointing

Stopped by on a road trip for a light lunch. Baked potato with mozzarella and roast vegetable filling and a cheese and ham sandwich. We had hot drinks to accompany the food. We both enjoyed our food, no complaints. Staff were pleasant and professional. Not downplaying the older staff, but I will compliment the younger members in particular. They provided service with a smile and with professionalism. Quite often a younger person is not really engaged with being in the hospitality industry. No hint of that on our visit, so we commend you. Also, to the older members of staff well done on mentoring them. We may try the pensioners lunch specials on our next visit, they seem a good deal on paper and seem to be popular by the number of people in the queue. I just hope I qualify, I may not. (The cakes looked good too.)

Food was disgusting, I’m sure it had been cooked the day before and reheated. There was a cleaner with an industrial cleaner washing the carpet while we were eating. The barman said he didn’t know we were coming although they had confirmed the booking online. We weren’t offered a discount after complaining about the food. We will definitely not be back.

we are regulars here and have always enjoyed it, unfortunately things have changed. I understand prices have to rise but the new menu isnt a patch on the old one. eggs benedict has gone to be replaced by tasteless wraps. not impressed sorry....
