Great food at reasonable prices, also the animals and kids playpark are great. Waiting staff friendly, cheerful and helpful. Only issue is you are unable to tip the staff via card payment which is annoying when very few people carry cash and some people like to show gratitude towards the waiting staff.

Right on the WHW so it was a timely place for me on my walk…hit it at 11:30. Comfortable place, friendly staff. Ham and cheese sandwich was forgettable…meanest little slice of ham, very cheap. The Guiness hit the spot.

I was traveling with my horse from Gartocharn via the backroads past Croftamie down to Killearn smiddy then on that West Highland way. We had a pitstop at the Beechrtree Inn then followed the West higland railway line towards Milngavie at Coult Brae we turned right towards the Carbeth Inn which is now a drive through refreshment area. We turned of the stockiemuir road to follow forestry tracks up towards Jaw Reservoir.

Stopped here for lunch after visiting Glengoyne Distillery which is about 5mins drive away. Got seated immediately and served quickly. Food was very good and was not disappointed. Saw lots of hikers which is an ideal stop for refreshments. Also has an animal area where you can feed and see the animals. Plenty of car parking space.

Not a reliable stop for walkers! Arrived at 5.50pm on a Saturday night looking for a quick bite to eat before the 7pm closing time. This was peak season - late June. We were told the kitchen was closed and we couldn’t be accommodated (despite the sign outside saying last orders 30 mins before close). We got a packet of crisps for dinner!

This restaurant is very tired and requires a total renovation. There is a stale smell throughout and the food is below standard and definitely not home made although you get the impression from the signage and menu that the food is freshly made. On a positive note, the staff were very nice and friendly and the food did arrive incredibly quickly. This is the first stop for many west highland way walkers and could be a gem to return to but the owners need to give it some TLC and maybe reduce the menu so that what they serve can actually be home-made.

Arrived there after walking from Milngavie. The first thing we’re we greeted by is the tacky signs outside. Went inside and asked for two pints only to be told there is no draft beer. We asked for two bottles, the service was dire, slow and very disorganised. Went outside to be greeted by a menagerie and a play park. Several people around us were complaining about the service. This once great hostelry has lost its identity. Is it a pub/restaurant A Zoo Of a Fun Fair I won’t go back if you paid me.

Such a disappointment. The plethora of shouty signs on the way in should have warned us, but we duly queued up. There were only two people in front of us and it took 20 minutes to be served, by which time the queue behind us snaked out of the door. Filthy toilets (or toilet, only one was working), rude staff (as we got to the front of the queue they started serving the people behind us?) and ridiculously expensive, £2.50 for a can of coke without even a glass! Keep walking on by until you get to Turnip the Beet.

Go to Costa coffee or Gregs the bakers in Milngavie before starting your walk and get two lovely cakes and coffee for half the price . My advice would be to walk on by

We have not visited for quite a number of years and the dark dreary setting upon entering did not provide a warm ambiance and when ‘greeted’ by the manager immediately knew we had made the wrong decision. We requested a table for 3, she asked if we had booked. Now, if you make a booking surely you mention that, don’t you ?? No ‘hello’ no smile, she huffed and said it would be 30 mins for food, we said that was fine. Thereafter she started ordering the young staff around, being quite rude and abrupt, quite embarrassing actually. Once seated we were provided with grubby menus and there was a strange lingering smell in the dull room we were shown to. We left, will not be back and am surprised this place is still open, although probably running due to tourist trade.

Chicken strips where handmade, but the batter was doughy rather than crisp. It did not adhere to the chicken, which was dry and over cooked. Had zero flavour, and was doughy in texture. Fries where also overcooked. Overall the dining experience was poor. Our server was overly attentive, to the point we’re we were interrupted mid bite several times. To their credit when we brought up the issue with the kids meal it was removed from the bill. The animal attraction was very limited and not worth the drive. Will not be visiting again.

We live locally and have visited for meals a couple of times in the past year - both times the food was disappointing. I enjoy pub grub, but the food on both occasions seemed to be re-heated rather than fresh, and overpriced for what it was. The setting is lovely to sit outside on a nice day, and the animals are nice for kids to look at. I would come back for a coffee and maybe a bowl of soup but not a proper meal. I suspect a lot of their trade comes from tourists as unfortunately I have never heard locals speak well of it (I was hoping for this to be proved wrong by giving it another chance, but sadly not).

Disappointing first impression as it smells fusty and looks very dated. Was so looking forward to a fresh cooked Sunday lunch. Heart sank when I saw the large laminated menu & no pub roast, but plenty of choice. Ordered the burger... arrived with cheap looking, over cooked, tasteless fries.. burger was clearly cooked from frozen (as most of the dishes looked) and was cold and awful. Waitress was lovely and brought me soup instead . Not homemade ! Thick, processed tasting and gloopy from a tin I suspect. Yuck. Nothing fresh on the menu which was so disappointing. On the plus side, great for kids as there’s an outside large area with animals and caged birds and you can buy feed for the goats etc. This place could be so much better if it offered fresh food but you’ll pay £12-15 for processed frozen food reheated/deep fried.

Went on an ITISON lunch deal for two.... disaster! Main course - the 'Special' of the Day - was roast half chicken. Two legs on the plate were black on the outside and stringy dried up meat inside. Chips were Ok!! The other main meal - Buffalo lasagne - looked and tasted like it had been cooked a year ago, frozen and served up as a supposedly tasty meal...it was awful, almost dry inside. Garlic bread was Ok!.

Took my daughter and granddaughter and hubbie. We booked ahead and had a lovely evening. Great pub food and family friendly between the garden , the food options and the relaxed atmosphere. I had lovely chilli , nice and spicy!! Great family tea!!

I called in for a light lunch while walking the West Highland Way. I was greeted at the bar and ordered broth and a cheese hoagie. It was a nice day so I sat outside and the food was brought out promptly. It was decent pub food and the price was reasonable.

I remember this being somewhere we went for a beer at the weekend! Now seems to be very focussed on the West Highland Way travellers. Food was good as was the service and prices.

Three of us visited The Beech Tree after taking a tour at the distillery close by. It was the nearest eatery and appeared fairer priced than the next nearest pub/restaurant.

This was a fantastic stopoff at the start of the West Highland Way! The caramel shortbread was delicious and they also dropped off one of my girlfriends shoes at the next village after she accidentally left it. Very friendly and very much appreciated, thank you.

We visited here one rainy night last week and were one of only two occupied tables which was a pity as the service from Liz Robertson was excellent and the food was very good! The menu is quite varied and very clear on what is home cooked and what is bought in. I had salmon and spinach in a cream (and something?!) sauce and it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his meal too. We were in something of a rush so didn’t have pudding but they looked lovely too. We will return.

Beautiful country restaurant with lovely food and drinks, friendly staff and stunning view of the Blane valley and Dumgoyne. Will always go back here. Perfect for a first stop when walking the West Highland Way. A++

My burger was terrible - bread was old and cold, meat was small and cold, and my fries were old and it was hard to eat them. The service is extremely over-priced and the food is terrible.

We highly reccommend The Beech Tree for it's excellent food and lovely staff. The children love going too as the food's ideal for them (and for us, as kids eat free!) and they love to feed the animals and to play in the play area afterwards. Can't fault The Beech Tree for families, and for walker of the West Highland Way. Great atmosphere!

Good food, good prices, good service. My husband never gives 10/10 but they got it! Definitely worth a visit

Tasty and generous meals in a comfortable, traditional setting. Friendly staff and seemed to be well used by the local community.

Stayed for an overnight on the way back to Glasgow. The evening before we were told there were grilled sandwiches available all day. Returning for breakfast at 9.15am we were then told that only coffee was available. We purchased this £3 for a cold coffee from a flask with a disgusting spoon that had clearly been sitting for hours. When I asked for a clean one and commented I was told I could get my money back in a very aggressive manner. Knowing that there was nothing else in the area I felt very intimidated as I was with a group of females the man clearly had an issue. Then going for a shower to experience faeces up the walls on the main floor and toilets that couldn’t be used. I would not recommend!! The staff on the previous evening were great and having been many times before with other friends and family. This place has clearly been taken over and went right down hill!! If you want a relaxing break away AVOID !! Many other amazing places in the area that accommodate a lot better. Definitely not recommended for females only.

Visited for lunch - we were well looked after from start to finish and the food in Sanja was absolutely excellent.
