Food is delicious and very well cooked, environment is very calm and peaceful, love to enjoy meal at TAY FRY INN.

Food was amazing. Fritters and fish were freshly cooked and very tasty! The delivery man was also so polite, just a shame I didn’t have cash on me to tip him.

Best Chippie in Dundee by a country mile, food always tasty and staff are always nice when you pop by, highly recommended 👌

the chips were cold so i think the chippy needs to wrap delieverys in tin foil to keep them hot. good food overall .

Waited two hours for order and it arrived cold!

Waited 3 hours for no delivery to turn up, made multiple calls lady on the phone first said it was out for delivery and then tried to say it was delivered however cctv shows not a single car coming in my street, never mind approaching my house.

Had another great takeaway from the Tay Fry Inn, so far this spot has consistently been my favourite chippy in Dundee. Food was cooked perfectly and was great value for money with the supper costing just over £6!

Have not had a save lot for years and it was brilliant will be passing on you to my friends, as we have been trying to find a chip shop that did saveloys it was great will be back

Fishcakes were excellent but chips and steak pie not so much, both quite tough and seemed to have been prepared a while ago not cooked to order.

Over an hour and 45 minutes late, called to say something about a road closure which was nonsense. Then had the cheek to ask for cash tip on arrival! Will not be ordering again.

I ordered the deep-fried pizza and chips with cheese. Both tasted good, but the portion of chips and cheese was too small for the price, and the cheese-to-chips ratio wasn't great. Overall, it was okay, but I’m unsure if I’ll return due to the small portion size.

I’m not a complainer but feel I must , I waited near enough 2hrs for a fish supper and a pizza supper I’m only 2 miles away a 7 min drive , i get it’s a Saturday but cmon,now down to the food my daughter got more chips in her pizza supper than I did in my fish supper and what I got was maybe 6 normal chips and the rest scraps which got binned , fish was half decent but only half decent,again I’m no Karen but just feel so disappointed especially waiting all that time

Fish supper arrived cold, fish rubbery, inedible. Box not wrapped in paper, just in paper bag. Chips n curry sauce barely warm. This was wrapped in paper, not sure why this was but fish supper not. At least delivery person apologised for the delay.

Food was really nice. I always struggle to find a good chippy in Dundee but I was pleasantly surprised with the food. Was all fresh and delivery was fast, very friendly delivery driver. I will deffo order from here again.

Fish was so greasy the batter stuck to the paper , fritters were tiny and so skinny I thought it was just batter with no potato

Very tasty fish and chips. The fish tastes like harbor and I've rarely had such good fries that go perfectly with the fish. My recommendation.

Easily the worst food I've had in Dundee. Fish was cooked to mush, fritters were bland and soggy, mac and cheese was grainy, overly greasy, and tasted off (I felt awful throwing out the whole portion but I was afraid of what it would do to my stomach), peas were the best part of the meal even though they were overly sour. Overall overcooked and bland food. Very expensive for the quality you get! I ordered half an hour before closing, which was my bad (I read the closing time wrong) so I still appreciate them even bringing me the order. Unfortunately I was really really disappointed with the food, and I recommend you try someplace else if you are looking for a fresh, hearty and satisfying meal.

order 2 fish suppers and smoke sausage supper and paid £30 for it be basically raw fish and batter and frozen chops

Over 2 hours for a delivery, guy on phone said it was on way 30mins later turned up freezing and missing a whole supper, lying bumping C@@s

Ordered two fish suppers, fritter roll and scampi, incredibly dissapointed. Ordered on Friday night which is normally best time to order fish&chips however all of it was undercooked and soggy. The batter on the fish was still white and well undercooked and the fritter was hard and uncooked as for the scampi my brother in law didn't finish it nor did my sister finish her fish. A word of advise to Tay fry Inn owners take pride and make an effort in what you do.

I only leave reviews is if something is really good or really bad! Just stopped here for a bite to eat! the fish here was lovely and fresh cooked to perfection as were the chips! Battered pizza and sausage was great too! Will come back. would definitely recommend!

Usually really enjoy food from here. Chios weren't great....canna really have a chio shop with rubbish chips. Still scored it reasonably as it is usually good. The chips this time were stale, hard, and you could taste a chemical oil taste, maybe needed new oil in the fryer.

We ordered food for 4 of the family. It arrived in good time and cost £35. Unfortunately it was absolutely terrible! The chips looked old and were cold. The fish batter was soggy and the fish was tasteless. The chicken breast was dry as dust and the batter was soggy and smelled weird. This used to be a good chip shop but our meal was a disaster. I wrote to them about it but nobody responded.

Orderd white pudding supper and a pizza supper when got my oder I got the pizza and chips but got chicken nuggets instead of white pudding phoned then had to wait about 30 minutes for my white pudding supper

Paid a visit to tay fry inn as I was on Perth Road. Food is cooked with beef dripping giving it that traditional taste. Unlike some chippies . Had the haddock and chips and would highly recommend . I would suggest a visit if your down that way.

Just thought I'd save some folks the call by saying the chips are cooked in beef fat so there's not even chips for us vegans and vegetarians! I had been eating here for a while without even considering this'd be a thing! So it turns out we'd been eating chips cooked in beef fat for months. I'm so angry and disappointed I hadn't thought of the possibility sooner and that they never made it clear! It makes me feel sick to think about! Don't make the same mistake!

Excellent fish n ships better then Tailend and less expensive. I highly recommend the breaded fish, with pickles on the side. Viva la frittura! 😋

Was disappointing again - fish freshly fried, but chips were lukewarm !! Would be so much better if all elements were same/similar temperature !!!

Has to wait over an hour over and above the expected delivery time. Even after phoning and being told it was on its way it was another 35 minutes.

Usually have a good meal. Tonight it was cold took it back but to be honest was still not good. Lost my custom I'm afraid....

Excellent Fish n chips: we had one battered and one breaded with peas and added a few fritters --- VERY Tasty indeed. Will definitely buy again. Cooked fresh and nicely served. Highly Recommended. Give it a go and you won't be disappointed. Social distancing clearly shown - excellent. Will definitely use the "Sit In" restaurant when it re-opens [sadly closed due to the terrible Corvid 19 situation] Thanks for reading my comments.

No small fish & didn't tell us that they only take cash even when i asked to pay the over the phone by card. Poor customer service for me.

Recently placed an order through Just Eat to receive what could only be described as the most appalling home delivery received. I could hear the gentleman making the delivery shouting down the street outside on his phone, before he proceeded to bang in my door loudly and then shout asking why I “hadn’t answered the phone?”. When I explained my wife and I had just welcomed our newborn son and I had apologised (not really overly sure why me answering the phone mattered anyway) he proceeded to storm away, slamming the gate to the entrance of our house at such force it woke out two other young children up. Great to see I paid £3 for that delivery. Some manners go along way and if this is the sort of person you have making your deliveries, why bother offering the service? Disgusting. I did leave a voicemail as to be called back but seeing as the person making the delivery didn’t have any form of decency and appeared to be the manager by the way he was dressed, I very much doubt I’ll hear back. My kids said thanks for wakening them up by the way 👍🏻

I placed an order with just eat at 7:18pm...was told it would arrive by 8:10pm...i thought that was ok...Friday night it'll be busy...anyway 8:10pm came and went no food arrived...8:40pm came and went and still no food...phoned back to cancel order then had to phone just eat to organise refund...gotta wait up to 7 days to get my money back...definitely won't be ordering from here again

Do not order from here .food does not get delivered on time then doesn't arrive. Had to cancel order and ring just eat for a refund. Worst ever

Very poor. Only people in the shop. Waited 15mins while they did on line orders. Staff came in from the rear kitchen, showed no interest so we walked out.

Stumbled in here on Hogmanay because all the highly-rated chippies were closed. Had a fish supper, which came with only one fish that was as dry as a camel's bahookie and re-heated chips you wouldn't throw to the pigeons. Two stars for the extremely pleasant boy at the counter who couldn't stop smiling - probably because I was stupid enough to buy this muck.
