Table dirty. Asked 2 members of staff to please wipe it. Eventually at 6thattempt it was.2 meals arrived. Only 1 was one of the 2 ordered. Other was for another table, who got ours. Swapped over. Items missing from this meal. Spoke to manager, who said he'd get item down. 10 mins later still no item so husband took what he had back saying if would be cold by time everything was available. Time passed meal did arrive " complete". He took it all back as we'd gone in to have a meal together. Which didn't happen. I'd had to eat mine, as it was only look warm when it had arrived, otherwise it wouldn't have been worth eating at all. People who came in after us were served before us, although they had ordered same as my husband. Service Was DISGUSTING. Staff couldn't have cared less. Won't be going back.

Well I can't pay a compliment to this place, well maintained, I noticed that there are two different groups of people who work there, one in the morning, and another in the evening, the kitchen on the upper floor where I also saw a large bathroom always kept clean, and I was able to delight my palate in combining the eggs Benedict, with a wonderful veiled covering of really tasty hollandaise sauce, an exceptional combination with the haggis which particularly gratifies me every time. my whole group came every morning for the duration of the festival, and I honestly have to say it will be one of my go-to spots for the next time I come to Dandee!!!

We asked the waiter to clear our table very politely. He said I will at some point but I am very busy then walked back towards the bar or kitchen area empty handed. Any reason for this? Was he not going towards kitchen or bar anyway to collect next order where the used crockery and glasses needed to be washed? My friend subsequently decided to pick up this crockery and glasses and placed them on bar, he shouldn't have had to do this. I hope the manager reads this and replies personally and in fact addresses this.

Awesome and attentive staff, stayed the night in Dundee to drop a friend off. I used to live here so naturally I came straight to the Counting House for our evening meal and drinks. I had the espresso martini, which was utterly vile. The staff were really accommodating and offered a refund immediately, no quibbles and very understanding. The food arrived promptly and was better than most Wetherspoons tbh. It was a good night, and a nice welcome "hame" :)

A Saturday trip to Dundee had us starving for some good food, so naturally we decided to hit up the local Wetherspoons. The staff were pleasant, the building was lovely, the bar was not too loud, the service was prompt, and the food was as awesome as always at a JD Wetherspoons. The only downside was that our seating area up on the platform was a little dim with lighting. We would’ve sat downstairs had there have been room but we didn’t let this little issue ruin our experience. Will definitely be back here when we’re next in Dundee. Thank you Counting House :)

The same kind of rowdy, dirty, Dundee bar just with a Weatherspoon's logo. Today is our last visit. After going there a few times, we are convinced that the old bar manager woman with the coloured hair HATES customers. She is consistently rude with a bad attitude and a chip on her shoulder & loves to say NO to everyone, except some of the OAP old-timers that she obviously knows. The place is also very dirty, I'm not sure the floor is ever cleaned, the tables are stacked with dirty dishes and the place is not cared for. Our last visit - we can spend our money at a nicer place and be treated better. GOODBYE COUNTING HOUSE...

Don’t really know what I expected from a Wetherspoons to be honest. It was very quiet for a Saturday so I kind of expected a pleasant morning. Ordered a breakfast with coffee and juice (Nearly £13). No sooner than I’d say at my table the breakfast was served. Which was super quick, so you can imagine my surprise when everything except from the toast on the plate was either overcooked or burnt. Yet the entire thing toast included was cold. Staff had absolutely no interest in their guests or getting feedback. I’d recommend that the chef spent their time in the kitchen rather than propping up the bar. I lost certainly won’t be back after this. There are places that do free better quality, choice and service for less than I paid here. Safe to say that a lesson was learned.

Ordered a beer and a Caorunn Gin and tonic, pretty sure it wasn’t Caorunn that was served out of the bottle, had one drink and left, got to be the worst one I’ve been in. Absolutely disgusting excuse for a steak. If I could give less than one star definitely would. Supposed to be 8oz sirloin of which at least 3oz was fat and grizzle. When mentioned to staff member was informed "we get produce pre packed", which I understand, but surely the (chef)/griller/cook, if they can be called that can see before they prepare food to go out to the table it is not up to standard and send said prepacked steak back to supplier before cooking and serving to customer. Staff just not interested even a fast food like McDonald's/ KFC etc is better quality than what gets served here. Disappointed does not even begin to describe especially when being charged over £11. Wrote a review about this establishment just yesterday and interestingly it has entirely disappeared, despite not having violated any of Tripadvisor's guidelines. I detailed a terrible experience here during which a friend and I were subjected to discrimination and bullying from the young manageress despite the fact that our behaviour was neither unruly nor antisocial. We were not drunk. The young woman in charge could not really provide me with a satisfactory explanation for why she had targeted my friend and I for discriminatory treatment and insisted that we 'sit outside'. My friend was Irish and I myself and Polish. It was 5pm, and I still cannot fathom what we were supposedly 'doing wrong' in this lively venue. The most horrifying thing is that when my friend and I obliged and moved to sit at the outdoor seating, the young manageress (perhaps 22 years of age...? Not sure), stoked up a crowd of people also seated outside who were presumably her friends. My friend and I had sat chatting quietly, already shocked by our experience to be honest. What made this so much worse was the fact that when she came outside to collect glasses her 'friends' broke into a round of applause (I didn't realise collecting dirty glasses merited a round of applause, but ok), and after my friend and I stood to leave and hugged goodbye - having caused no disruption - the same group of people (none of whom I knew at all, but whom were clearly familiar with the manageress), booed and jeered at my friend and I as we left. It was especially terrible as my friend spent many years of her early life in Dundee, and this was her first time back in several years having moved to New Zealand. I could not understand what we had done wrong and this was an atrocious experience for her as a 'welcome back' to Dundee. It was awful. This was the most disturbing, bewildering and upsetting experience I have had in recent times and now I see that the review I left yesterday has been deleted. It's a pity that the establishment in question will not address what happened to my friend and I and it looks like they have been so reluctant to do so that they have had my comment removed. I will continue to share what happened to me at this establishment, not just on this platform. The manageress appeared to be very young, perhaps 22. I politely asked her at one point what the issue was and she could not give me a satisfactory answer. Beyond failing to address why she demanded that my Irish friend and I 'sit outside', when I asked her to clarify what precisely we had done, she simply walked off. Horrific. I feel worse for my friend. Truly I have never experienced anything quite like it.

Markets itself as a as a fairly well to do venue however it very much is not. We were a group of 11 for my fathers birthday. We had to order in advance which I imagined should have allowed for a smooth fast service, it wasn’t even close. The mains for whatever reason started coming out with the starters, we sent the mains back. Starters were mediocre. Mains arrived 50 minutes later having obviously sat under the hot lamps of the kitchen pass for the duration so were very much dry. When raised with the server they said they would report it to the kitchen… nothing was done. What was edible was eaten and we waited another 50 minutes for desserts which were also mediocre. We were in the restaurant for 2.5 hrs which is an obscene amount of time for a 3 course meal never mind one that’s be en ordered in advance. The price of the dishes was at the very high end for what they were. It wasn’t busy at all there were around 15 other customers soon no idea what took so long. The place lacks atmosphere. The decor is naff and the choice of furniture is poor for a restaurant, getting in and out of the chairs around the table is difficult and the servers a forced to either lean over you or hand you the plates. The place could do so much better.

I am not a moaner by nature, always looking for the positive. Staff were great and welcoming, as were the surroundings and ambience. Limited menu, in my eyes is a good thing as you expect quality to be focussed. However, after two courses came away hungry- I am not a big chap, 5’ 9” 12 stone, normal appetite. My posh prawn cocktail was great, the crispy skin chicken wings, not crispy. Your local chippy would be embarrassed to serve you the smallest piece of haddock I have ever seen, I mean come on Apex, where is your quality control, don’t you want repeat clients? Coffee, what is so difficult about having a hot cup of coffee? I returned it, as it was luke warm, the replacement was also luke warm, why doesn’t anybody warm the cup, I like to enjoy my coffee at leisure, not gulp it down before it freezes over. The waitress kindly discounted the cost, I spend a lot of time in Edinburgh and I have to say, I have a far better dining experience there. Come on Apex, put some effort in and put Dundee on the map. Oh, did I mention £9.50 for a glass of house wine? I never tip when being ripped off by wine cost. Lets get real shall we?

I ordered the deep-fried pizza and chips with cheese. Both tasted good, but the portion of chips and cheese was too small for the price, and the cheese-to-chips ratio wasn't great. Overall, it was okay, but I’m unsure if I’ll return due to the small portion size.

For a chain restaurant, it does not bad. Ok the place is a bit cavernous and can feel cold. Nice staff, although a wee bit distant but polite. The food is nice . I have had the sausages and mash, the lasagne and the pie and potatoes on different occasions. All were perfectly acceptable and very nice. The sizzling dishes are very good. Good deals to be had. All in all, one of the better eateries.
