Thugs pub. People asleep slumped over tables, gangs of loudly swearing women. Worse still bar service serving people not in order of arrival but by how vocal and agreesive they are. Single lady next to me at the bar didn't have a chance. Tried to reasonably voice that we were near. Two drunken men were extremely aggressive and were rewarded with immediate service. Lots of great alternative pubs nearby.

Still same food good staff friendly always nice.

I had the slim burger (with salad, not chips). The roll was burnt - had to cut some off. 12 hours later I have food poisoning like I have NEVER known before. Was seriously considering hospital attendance overnight…

worst Wetherspoons I've been in. Arrived for dinner. Selected the mixed grill, went to the sticky bar and was told no meat, pork steaks etc as the grills were out of action. Apparently broke for over a month!! So I ordered fish and chips which was eatable. Chose a Stella, sold out as were about five other beers! A shambles of a pub. Staff all looked bored, and the place itself is in desperate need of a face-lift. Dreadful.

Attractive building originally opened as a bank in 1856. Usual decent Wetherspoons food and enjoyed the caledonian burger with haggis which we can unfortunately never get at home in England. Excellent range of ales and particularly liked the Lurcher stout. Friendly helpful staff.

Wrote a review about this establishment just yesterday and interestingly it has entirely disappeared, despite not having violated any of Tripadvisor's guidelines. I detailed a terrible experience here during which a friend and I were subjected to discrimination and bullying from the young manageress despite the fact that our behaviour was neither unruly nor antisocial. We were not drunk. The young woman in charge could not really provide me with a satisfactory explanation for why she had targeted my friend and I for discriminatory treatment and insisted that we 'sit outside'. My friend was Irish and I myself and Polish. It was 5pm, and I still cannot fathom what we were supposedly 'doing wrong' in this lively venue. The most horrifying thing is that when my friend and I obliged and moved to sit at the outdoor seating, the young manageress (perhaps 22 years of age...? Not sure), stoked up a crowd of people also seated outside who were presumably her friends. My friend and I had sat chatting quietly, already shocked by our experience to be honest. What made this so much worse was the fact that when she came outside to collect glasses her 'friends' broke into a round of applause (I didn't realise collecting dirty glasses merited a round of applause, but ok), and after my friend and I stood to leave and hugged goodbye - having caused no disruption - the same group of people (none of whom I knew at all, but whom were clearly familiar with the manageress), booed and jeered at my friend and I as we left. It was especially terrible as my friend spent many years of her early life in Dundee, and this was her first time back in several years having moved to New Zealand. I could not understand what we had done wrong and this was an atrocious experience for her as a 'welcome back' to Dundee. It was awful. This was the most disturbing, bewildering and upsetting experience I have had in recent times and now I see that the review I left yesterday has been deleted. It's a pity that the establishment in question will not address what happened to my friend and I and it looks like they have been so reluctant to do so that they have had my comment removed. I will continue to share what happened to me at this establishment, not just on this platform. The manageress appeared to be very young, perhaps 22. I politely asked her at one point what the issue was and she could not give me a satisfactory answer. Beyond failing to address why she demanded that my Irish friend and I 'sit outside', when I asked her to clarify what precisely we had done, she simply walked off. Horrific. I feel worse for my friend. Truly I have never experienced anything quite like it.

Helpful polite staff and the burger was very nice and well presented. As always could of done with a few more chips. It's a spoons with a Scottish accent.

We've been here before and all was fine. Went on Sunday, pub packed, tables left uncleared, customers actually taking dirty dishes to the bar so they could sit down, and we're told they had sold out of our choices. We chose something else and were very disappointed but put it down to it being busy. Returned the night after and we're told the grill was broken (our choice from previous night were from the grill but 'sold out') so again we chose something else. Food was ok, but again even though pub wasn't as busy lots of dirty tables left uncleared, customers having to take dirty dishes to the bar so they could sit down. Not impressed, the worst wetherspoons I have been to. Won't be eating there again.

The food was fkn disappointing I paid 11 pound for a shabby wee bit of chicken Tikka curry, plus chips it was cold and disgusting, you guys need to get you staff and the kitchen sorted we will not be back.

On our travels again,and went to the Spoons as we weren't sure where to eat . As usual, it didn't disappoint. Can recommend the chicken wings and the Caledonian burger.

I've worked all over the uk many in Scotland, the worst ever is the counting house, Dundee beer atrocious (the decent ones unavailable) the price horrendous, not saying anymore, but don't go.

Manager doesn’t know how to run a ba,r not professional. Does not handle handle customer request's. sStaff aren’t properly trained to handle situations and argue back.

Have visited here a few times for lunch through the years. Not much has changed in between visits. The food was good, as was the service, especially for a lunchtime service.

I went to toilet before deciding to stay for lunch. They were disgusting so made a quick exit and had lunch elsewhere.

Absolutely freezin no heating on in entire pub. Place is manky as well. Toilets are a disgrace. Staff look totally bored.

After being here quite a few times, we received our 1st bad meal, my fish and wife's scampi were over cooked or put into very hot oil as the breadcrumbs and batter were rock hard, saying that tho it's still a good place to go to.

It is a normal Weatherspoons pub. In a nice place. But not really outstanding. We didn't have food so can't comment on the meals. Okay place for a quick meal or drink.

A typical spoons pub. Plenty of drinks selections at very competitive price. It’s on a great location in the centre of Dundee and looks out onto the McManus Galleries. Staff here are all pretty fast at serving and there’s plenty of seating available. Nice and warm inside even on freezing cold days.

Would not recommend, The Sausage and Mash, was absolutely dreadful, was not told you get a free drink with meal, the Mash was some kind of dehydrated substitute,the sausages,where tasteless, will not be back.

Wetherspoons is my go to for dinner and has been for years BUT what is it with these 3oz burgers ? I can't order the 6oz with an extra 6oz I can only order a 3oz with 2 3oz which is stupid, get us back the bigger burger I don't want tiny 3oz burgers on my plate I'm not a kid.

Very disappointed with this pub, most beers advertised as being on tap were not available!! The staff were ok, although one or two need to attend a charm school or customer service course.

The one thing you get from Wetherspoons is consistency. Food was great, atmosphere was excellent, and you can order from the table. Great place.

Went in for Breakfast with my toddler High Chairs were Sticky Dirty and still had food on them from previous use Drink menu on table was 🤢 defo hadn't been cleaned in a while Then a Lady member of staff (team leader ) was really rude and unfriendly Hopefully Things Improve

Typical wotherspoon's - 2 x classic beef burgers and 2 x ciders - busy but friendly - table needed a wipe - dealt with quickly - ambience noisy!! - overall warm and dry on a rainy day!!

The bar staff who were on duty had no clue what they were doing, took forever to serve people. A young girl had been standing in the queue for nearly 20 minutes while two 16 year old boys were serving behind the till. The girls friend came over and said her friend had been standing there for aged and a man and woman began to verbally abuse the two females. Shouting swearing and uttering threats. One of the bar staff young girl said if they didn't stop arguing they wouldn't be getting served. Now this young girl was standing behind me in the queue for a long time. One of the girls went back up for a few shots but they wouldn't serve her saying because of the trouble these two young girls were lovely I had spoken to them. Should have been the man and woman who were kicked out for threatening other punters considering the man threatened to punch F***k out of the girls. No man should threaten females absolutely appalling

Dreadful pub, takes forever to get served, people accusing others of queue jumping, men threatening women. Underage bar staff being unsupervised absolutely horrendous place.

Good food and cheap drinks, RESULT!

Took forever for the bartender to acknowledge my existence, and it wasn't very crowded. Ordered "The American Burger" for £7. Bread is stale and the patty has clearly been sitting in a freezer for a very long time before being over-cooked. Plus the burger and chips portions are extremely small. For similar prices you'd have gotten twice as much food from any chip shop. When it comes to food, avoid this place like the plague.

Consistency and temperature of hot chocolate were fine, richness was perhaps a bit lower than standard, and froth was minimal. However, the hot chocolate is served for the extremely low price of £1.25 and is refillable. 4/10

We visited on Friday 22nd in the evening. Dirty glasses everywhere across the bars and all the tables. Tables dirty and not being cleaned or cleared. Manager walking around with his head down.... very poor in comparison to previous visits

After having a journey from Carlisle to Dundee I was really ready for lunch. I had a pint of cider then decided to have lunch. I tried the AMERICAN BEEF BURGER WITH A pint of cider £7. Great value and great service. The staff couldn't do enough for me.

Edit. Super staff in the Counting House managed to send the two meals we ordered to a completely different table which the single person on his own happily accepted and munched through. The staff ordered us replacements and only one meal turned up. Got our money went across the road to the Old Bank(Green King Pub) and had a couple of meals in there.

We went in for breakfast 2 adults and 4 children as the hotel we stayed at didn’t have a breakfast offering First problem was the place was dirty, sticky floors, unclean tables with dirty breakfast dishes and a crazy amount of flys buzzing about the place The counting place didn’t realise we’d entertain us and the kids by counting flys until we were got what resembled breakfast We were going to leave but because we had limited time before our train we thought best to get something….BIG MISTAKE should have gone elsewhere! We ordered a cooked breakfast, scrambled eggs on toast, 2 bowls of porridge and 2 plates of pancakes with syrup The porridge (10mins after ordering)was the only thing that was ok and that’s being generous, goldy locks and the three bears wouldn’t even bother! The cooked breakfast came out stone cold (15 mins after being ordered)then we waited 25 mins in total for microwaved pancakes and scrambled eggs to arrive after ordering which to add insult to injury the eggs came out stone cold too. We had to ask staff twice where our food was and met with blank expressions. What makes this worse is the place was quite when we ordered! Save yourselves and avoid this place like the plague

Great place to visit for a quick bite to eat & a few beers

Waited in queue for 5mins or so. About to be served when supervisor/manager told young assistant to stop our service and take an order to the outside tables. No apology, just walked away and left us flabbergasted! We were eventually served by previously mentioned supervisor/manager, but again no apology was forthcoming! Enjoyed the Ale but very dissapointed with the service!!

City centre spoons. Dirt cheap dunks and food prices in particular the drink/meal combos. Large beer garden opposite the old library next to the huge Robert Burns statue. Mixture of clientele from students to old men playing cards in the corner. Plenty of staff to serve you fast.

Under cooked toast for breakfast and 1 spoonful of beans haha they forgot the vegan sausage lol, and it cost £13 for 2 breakfast after all, and table was sticky, asked the girl to spray and wipe it, oops prob why I got under cooked toast haha 🤣

Only two serving a busy pub at lunchtime they tried their best. Don't like to stand in a queue to get served my pint.

It's a wetherspoons, some are better than others, this one was good. Nice central location, staff were great.

Regular to wetherspoons on our travels and rarely an issue. Sadly on this occasion the quality of food was disastrous. Gourmet steak came burnt to a crisp even though it was requested as medium rare. Replacement came over cooked but more edible than the first but with a single random raw mushroom this time. Not sure if a message from the kitchen. 1/3rd of the meat was fat but partner had already finished their meal by now so tucked in for the best. Table staff couldn't be more apologetic and accommodating so big thanks to those. Will stick to the microwave meals in the future.

Typical JD branch offering very good value for money. Food is fine and varied. There is no finer place for cask ale with a good stock of other drinks. Coffee and tea comes from a machine though they use a well known coffee company who are hard to beat. Currently, the place looks a bit tired and could do with some tlc but still a big favourite.

Quick service good food nice place

This will be the last time we will go. If I am perfectly honest it needs a bloody good clean. The carpets and chairs are grotty and stained. There are finger prints on the doors and it just feels dirty. It took longer than usual to serve the food and the cutlery was also dirty. Nope.

I cant believe I'm back here after Nicolle dragged me into this establishment for a second time. From the moment i walked through the doors the chaos ensued, crazy uncivilised people shouting loitering and gossiping in the nastuest showcase of humanity's dark side. I couldn'tcope suffering heart palpitations at the sound of glass being violently struck against the table ledge. My friend was encircled by little girls in the bathroom stalls who were cowardly in their mannerisms. The amount of alcohol and sheer volume of human noise struck me as an unprecedented marker of societys regression into a rowdy uncultured group. The fries were textureles and flavourless and the dimly lit environment serves to hide the evidence of lack of cleanliness. I am left traumatised haha. Bye

Would like a option to chips with most things.

The place is nice. I like that you can order and pay via app and just have the food brought to the table, you don't have to queue at the bar. The selection is large. The only downside is that the place is large and rather noisy at busy times, it's hard to have a conversation.

Standards have dropped. Empty tables not cleared. Food not as good as other Wetherspoons. Louts sitting around because of cheap alcohol. This should be a restaurant, not a howf. Not a welcoming sight once in the door but we were hungry, disappointed with lack of food on the plate.

Spoons has always been hit and miss with food, but you could forgive this because it was cheap. Was cheap. Now it feels like a false economy with rubbish food - small fish TINY, over cooked and oil filled batter, and cold strangely sweet tasting mushy peas. Gins state they are served with "insert garnish here" but never arrive with said garnish. Yes the price of everything has gone up, but other pubs at least try to maintain quality which is what's letting spoons down badly in my opinion.
