The Caledonian in Highland

Nice bar, nothing too exciting for me. It was dead and didn't really feel welcome. Maybe I missed all the excitement. Not sure what to make of it.

Such a great, fun spot. Popped in for a snack and beers—phenomenal, friendly, above-and-beyond staff. Will return at evening time!

Stopped off for a few nights and popped in for food. Good menu friendly staff and good prices. Would definitely recommend

El ambiente era perfecto — todo el personal, especialmente Mark y Michelle eran tan servicial y amable (incluso dejar que uno de mis amigos servir su propia cerveza!). La comida era deliciosa! Ojalá hubiéramos tenido más tiempo en Inverness para visitar de nuevo. Lo recomendaría para cualquiera en la zona.

Staff are great food was on time food tasted great drinks were good and the seating was good toilet could be closer but that’s okay hahaha

Went twice. Am allergic to onions so asked about a side salaa, to leave it oit because it had onions. First time brilliant, with a young waitress, was offered chips instead. Second time this was just forgotten by the waiter and also lost garlic bread because it sat on top of the salad with onions..where it's not meant to be anyway. So smaller dish for me although to be honest the garlic bread was awful, spongy on the first night and dry and hard on the other. Partner took chicken tikka Masala which was also a bit weird with odd small naan bread... This was definitely too little and too sloppy for over 30 pounds with drinks, have a feeling it's just microwaved. They really should not be allowed to ask for tips beforehand when you pay on ordering in these kinds of places. So not deserved on the second time. Never again.

Paramos aquí para nuestro almuerzo cuando llegamos por un par de días en Inverness. La comida era encantadora y la señora del bar era agradable y charlatán, el lugar era tan frío pero estaba vacío, así que entienda que no quieren calentar un lugar grande para nadie.

Gran lugar para ir. Buena comida. Gran selección. Personal amable y un gran servicio. Siempre limpio y cómodo. Gran ambiente

Gran pub. El equipo directivo Mark, Michelle y las chicas son brillantes. Siempre una sonrisa de bienvenida y conversación amistosa. Las hamburguesas son spot on y a un precio muy razonable, incluido con una cerveza también. He estado en Inverness por unos 5 meses y este lugar se ha convertido en mi guarida más regular. Admite mascotas. Los deportes siempre están encendidos, la música también, cálida, buena comida barata y cerveza decente. El mejor pub de la ciudad.

Arrived yesterday at lunchtime. Found a table and sat down ordered our lunch and waited. Staff were sitting at a table next to us having a meeting in an iPad it was so loud everyone could hear the team meeting ie profits, who was the best pubs, and who needs to pull their socks up. This was really poor practice from staff. Meal arrived and it was terrible.. dirty fries were fries only! Toastie was that flat it was like a frisbee my partner had a burger and chips that was also poor. My opinion was McDonald’s across the road would have been better.

Wondered in fancying a bite for lunch, lovely friedy welcome and the food was delicious. I had the lasagna but it was a tough choice! Noticed the cocktail menu...so coming back to try that out....will definitely be recommending to visiting family

Outstanding service by the owner and manager. If you want to enjoy a good beer or a whisky and also a food do not hesitate to visit this place . If you’re a sports fan and you want to watch sports definitely a good place to do it .

The menu is amazing, we found it hard to choose what we wanted because everything sounded amazing! I chose the bbq mac burger and it was incredible. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. The drinks menu is also amazing, we can’t wait to come back for some drinks!

I come here regularly to have lunch as I'm in Inverness for a few hours every other Saturday and the food is absolutely amazing! It's so decently priced and the staff are absolutely amazing! I've never spoken to anyone who isn't really friendly and they always have big smiles on their faces and are happy to help with any query you have! It's my favourite place to eat in Inverness! I've also been here in the past on a weekend it's one of my favourite places to have a drink on a Saturday night too!

We dropped in and had a wonderful meal. We were greeted by the hostess who seated us even though the kitchen was about to close. Finley served us & she was wonderful, charming & we will return again. We tried to stop at other restaurants but most required reservations so this worked great for our first night in Inverness.

Got my order wrong. The place is run by some serious silly Billys. The girl who took my order clearly hates where she works and where she is in her life. A bit of a shame to be honest. Maybe she should find a new profession .

rough pub at the best of times. Lots of drunks in the pub at lunchtime so be warned. Unfortunately we had ordered drinks before we realised so drank up and left. Sadly, staff more interested in drunks than us.

Went for birthday drinks and were treated fantasticly by Kaitlyn who gave me a birthday shot. Which to be honest was the only bar in Inverness to do so.

We went to Inverness for the day to celebrate our friend’s birthday and landed up in The Caledonian. Nina and Jordan made our visit really enjoyable, nothing was too much for them. Very polite and chatty. Would highly recommend going here if you haven’t already

Vi havde bestilt bord, men da vi kom var der ikke helt klarhed over hvor vi skulle sidde. Bestilling foregår i bare, og da vi var 5 personer skulle der bestilles en del mad og drikkevarer. Menu kortet er fra England, så de har ikke alle de øl mærker der er på menu kortet. Da vi før fik serveret øl og mad, så hyggede vi os. Vi kunne se Champions League. Det er bedre end at være på McDonalds!

Omg this is the best restaurant ever! Absolutely outstanding quality of food and quick service. The manager and staff are really helpful and welcoming. I definitely recommend to have food you will not be disappointed. I came here with the family and we had the best service from the Scottish bar. We definitely will be back. Had a lovely experience in the Caledonian last night! The food was great as well as excellent service and conversation from the staff.

Visited Inverness a few times since lockdown and popped in for a beer as I knew the barman Gary had moved from another site and he was working we had a good catch up and he suggested the fish and chips of the food menu which wasn't a disappointment. The other barmaid on kaitlyn was very friendly and chatty too. Would highly recommend here for some good beer, food and banter.

Travelled from Birmingham to see loch mess and busted Inverness for the day. Stumbled across this lovely little place for a bite to eat. The staff where really friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely meal and drinks. Mark was very friendly and even gave me a free pudding for eating all my food . Would highly recommend for nice food and drinks .

Excellent value, really decent food for the budget, lots of variety, including vegan options, lovely staff, and great building with a pool table. We were only in Inverness for a couple of days, but we ate here twice!

Disgusting poverty stricken hole with the most rude bottom of the barrel staff they could drag off the street to work behind the bar. I'd rather find out I had aids than go back here.

While visiting Inverness, I was looking for a good selection of Scotch and ended up staying for dinner. I had the "Go Cheesy On Me" Mac'n'Cheese and finished with a serving of Cookie Apple Pie. Both dishes were rich and flavorful. Although I did not catch any of my server's names, I do want to call out the fantastic service I received. These folks worked hard and quickly.

Had lunch with our son and his family while visiting from Ireland. Food was very tasty and the service was brilliant. Some problems with ordering the via the app, but Claire looked after is brilliantly and we all got what we wanted. Would visit again.

We were served by Paul, Rachael and Archie today for a lunchtime meal. They were all very helpful and moved us to a table because we were initially placed by the garden and a bit drafty. However there was no problem and our food was prompt and hot. The restaurant was a basic but decent place to eat, where tue staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Had a great night out in the Caledonian. The drinks were great and service was excellent. Our server Archie was amazing and made our night. 10/10 would go back here again

My god where do I start. We headed up Inverness after lockdown to have a wee night out with a meal and some drinks. We went to other restaurants beforehand and was meet with atrocious service but when we got to Caledonian the service we were meet with was outstanding never felt so welcomed in my life. Made our night and will forever go back from now. Mark was the man's name and he was just the best.

Great food, had the chicken wings and they were delicious! Yum! 😋 Our waiter Cameron was very kind and was very attentive

Today I visited the Caledonian bar, as soon as I arrived with my partner we were welcomed very well and made to feel comfortable. We were spoken to politely and asked several times if we were okay for drinks and satisfied. I was shown the various types of gins ( 77) and I was also given some testers to try at home. Still here at the moment and having a great experience. Staff member at front door welcoming us, very friendly and made welcome by him. ( Mark )

I popped in here for a couple of beers. Staff were great, with one of them putting on a football match that I requested. They couldn't be more helpful and accomodating. Will be back here next time I am in Inverness.

We were thru shopping in Inverness and decided to have some food, we had always looked at this pub but had never been in. So we gave it a try. Well the food was fantastic, I had ‘dirty’ Mac and cheese and it was one of the best Mac and cheese I’ve had! The staff were so friendly and super helpful, especially the manager Mark. We felt safe (covid wise) it was clean and well distanced. Tables were cleared and cleaned very quickly after people left.

Totally disappointing-sitting there eating and drinking and at the biggest hype of the Scotland/Serbia game after 7 penalties were taken the TV was switched off and we were all shoved out of the door even though licence is until 10:30pm

Taken in by Mark, who was amazing all night! Very lovely and looked after us making sure all was good, food arrived hot, and in good time! All staff were lovely! Only fault was 9.99 for a pornstar martini!! considering it was poured from a tap and not actually made and shaken, that is on the more expensive side, I know because I work in a cocktail bar! Otherwise, was a good meal and we will be back next time we are in Inverness!

Amazing service from linzi, weapon on shots, baby Guiness pouring mistro, pure rain of sunshine and The Big Si was brilliant with the dad bod. She was absolutely sound as! They even do elbow touches. WEAPON.

Had a few drinks to relax on our weekend break and although it was quiet had great service from Archie the young bartender,highly recommend this pub if your in the area.

First time in Inverness, forgot we had to pre book a table due to covid. The staff at the caledonian were extremely friendly and helpful, we got a table and enjoyed a lovely meal. The bar staff are really friendly and helpful. Defo recommend it.

El personal es encantador. La comida es deliciosa.Mi único aspecto negativo es que cuando se les pide a los clientes que hagan el seguimiento y la localización, a cada persona se le da el mismo bolígrafo para usar. Una persona permanentemente en esa mesa pidiendo los detalles, o animando a todos a completarlo en línea sería una mejor opción.

Llegué hoy 03/08/20 para comer un poco, actualmente sentados aquí nos dieron un pedido incorrecto y luego nos dijeron que teníamos que comerlo, ya que eso pasó por la caja registradora, pidió mayonesa y sal todavía esperando. . . no se ofrecen cubiertos ni servilletas. . ir a wetherspoons o el servicio de plataforma 8 fue mucho mejor comida y servicio.

El servicio fue fantástico. Peter nos cuidó muy bien, se aseguró de que tuviéramos todo lo que necesitábamos y se aseguró de que entendiéramos cómo funcionaba todo, ya que era la primera vez que nos aventuramos con el clima actual. El Caledonian en sí no era demasiado bueno antes de la remodelación, ¡pero desde entonces ha avanzado a pasos agigantados! ¡Gracias, Peter! Y gracias también al resto del personal.

La comida sabía bien, pero había un guisante al azar en mis patatas fritas y parte del pollo estaba un poco arenoso. Traditional pub. Moira was so welcoming and the locals had us in fits of laughter especially sweary Davey. Clean pub. Gins are amazing. Colin a local bought us a few drinks. Thanks so much for the wonderful hospitality.

Tuvimos una comida y bebidas fantásticas aquí esta semana, el servicio es insuperable, Simon y su personal son tan útiles que nada es un problema, el consejo de Simon sobre su selección de ginebra fue excelente, este chico (o su esposa) sabe que hay ginebras jajaja .Definitivamente recomendaríamos Caledonian para la comida, teníamos las fuentes pequeñas Dios mío, eran encantadores, los bollos bon haggis eran para morirse. Encontré este lugar mientras estaba en un pequeño descanso con 2 adolescentes. La comida tenía un 50% de descuento y las alas de búfalo son increíbles. El personal es amable y atento. Los gerentes Mark y Simon hicieron un esfuerzo por hablar con nosotros en noches diferentes y nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta.

I had a few hours before my train and a 6 nations game to watch so I headed in. There was a great atmosphere and my food was lovely. The staff were amazing, bringing me extra gravy without my even needing to ask! Then they helped me move seats to be more comfortable and see the game better. I felt amazingly well looked after and the manager even helped me carry my bags to the door when I was leaving. Service was so good I was almost thrown off! Totally recommend for a great pub in town.

Came here on a Wednesday Afternoon for a drink, some friends unexpectedly arrived and so we ordered some pitchers! I went to get our second round and they were out of ingredients for pitchers, had no Monkey Shoulder, or orange juice when I’d been trying to think what else to get they kept saying they didn’t have it! I then asked if I could have an ordinary cider and politely said you wouldn’t mind giving me that for free due to them not having anything I actually liked!! I was spoken to very rudely by some young undertrained girl. She went to get my bill and kept giving me the evil eye which I found funny, but wait!Later on, I went for a trip to the loo and a young boy with light blonde dyed hair, on the bigger side came up to me and said “If you have something to say, say it to my face!” To me? I had no idea what his problem was and thinking he’d mistaken me for someone else I asked if he was okay and he told me to f*ck off.Will not be returning.

Parecía estar bien afuera (¡gran error!). Visité aquí como turista (¡solo a los lugareños que noté les gustaba beber, no comer y ahora sé por qué!). Los pasteles de cazadores X 2 ordenados sabían bien, PERO no estaban bien cocinados porque tanto yo como mi compañero hemos estado despiertos toda la noche con dolor de estómago ! (No tuvimos otra comida en todo el día, así que no puede ser otra cosa). Los inodoros están más allá de los repugnantes pisos malolientes, pegajosos, puertas sucias que no se cierran, etc. ¡La mujer en el bar también se tapaba la nariz con los dedos y a menudo salía rodando tabaco y fumando sin lavarse las manos y luego servir comida y clientes! ! (¡Un lugar realmente elegante no!).

This place is dirty, your shoes stick to the floor,it's like a bloody moonwalk to your seat. The tables are food stained, pictures are smashed on the wall and some lights have no bulbs or don't work. The long walk to the toilets up two flights of stairs reek of urine and body odour and the toilets are disgusting, unclean and covered toilet bowels in sh!t stains and graffiti of offers and phone numbers for sex. The food takes ages and looks like what's stuck to the wall and floor totally inedible.

Poor service place was dirty. Food just ok. Waited a while to be served as only 2 serving and place was busy once served while waiting on our food at least 4 customers came in and left after waiting at bar for some time and not being served or acknowledged! While waiting for our food I noticed that the place was quite dirty after food which was just ok I visited the ladies ....if I had done this before ordering I wouldn’t have stayed ! The stairs to the toilet are dirty and smelly the toilets felt unclean. I wouldn’t go back !!

Good service, quick turnaround on food, good quantity and quality. The gamon steak was good, albeit a bit salty.

From the outside this pub looks immaculate.The stone work outside is impressive.

Stopped off for lunch on a recent visit to Inverness, and wish we hadn't. It's only when you're sat there waiting for your food to arrive that you realise how grimy the place is. A picture near our table had only half the glass left in the frame, the ceilings were covered in stains, a socket dangled precariously from the wall and the tables were decidedly sticky. I went in search of some vinegar and found a bottle in a drawer, covered in (I hope) mayonnaise.

We didn't book a table in advance for Saturday night dinner in Inverness. After walking down the main street past full restaurants, we stopped in at the Caledonian.

Went in for lunch as just visiting Inverness and had never been in before. Looked okay inside , staff seemed friendly enough but the food wasn’t great, it was all obviously pre frozen cheap stuff that they couldn’t cook properly as most of it was overcooked. Complained about one of the meals as it was inedible due to being overcooked, got a refund without any problem but we definitely wouldn’t recommend and would not return. There was also a bit of a weird smell in the place.

If you enjoy getting service from incompetent staff who constantly mess up food and beverage orders, enjoy burnt food and enjoy attitude from staff when you have the nerve to politely complain; then this could be the place for you.
