Pier Restaurant in Highland

Great drinks, great food, great service, adorable bar dog and a perfect dive/sports bar atmosphere right on the water. Complete with black ball table. So happy we stumbled upon it.

This meal was the low point of my holiday (and we got stuck on the fairy pools road!) We'd seen the menu online and thought it offered a pretty decent selection, but we were told they had already switched to their winter menu which was only several choices of either something with chips or pasta. My mom ordered a burger and chips and she was given a cheeseburger with cold chips. I had carbonara pasta and it was the worst pasta I have ever had in my life! The pasta was overcooked and the carbonara sauce had zero flavor with about six tiny pieces of bacon in it - no cheese or anything else. There were two slices burnt garlic bread. For those two dishes and a glass of wine and a soft drink it was £46. Just awful! And what's really annoying is they were very busy and has a good location on the pier so the place could be an absolute winner if it was being run properly.

This place has great portion sizes and is also seemingly the only restaurant in Uig that doesn't need a reservation beforehand! These guys do what they need to give you what you need portion size and they've also got a great view of the bay!

Sticky tables with poor food. Good beer though. Generally overpriced but the views are good. Wouldn't recommend

Very good restaurant, very friendly employees and delicious food. Special recognition to the waitress Miel, she is an excellent person and very good at her job👍🏾. 100% recommended restaurant.

Fish and chips were great. The servers are really kind. Went to pay at the bar and had some banter while paying. Maybe a bit pricey to be fair but ofcourse I have no idea how hard it is to get supplies out here. Overall, I´m a happy man.

No idea if pub has terrible experience with visitors... But after 6 hour hike being Hella tired I really wasn't ready for this kind of rejection And feeling that im really not welcome here by loud locals. Bar was quick And Beer alright but Experience was sad. Kitchen staff was welcoming so thanks for that! Glad I recovered by stunning scenery And diner I made. Try to be more friedly next time! The fish soup and fish and chips were great. Sitting outside is pleasant, inside it's a bit old-fashioned. The service was a bit overwhelmed. There's always something going on at the bar.

Spectacular food with visits to the port. The service is friendly and efficient. It is the second time I come and it is totally recommended!

The meal my partner and I were served here was beyond disappointing. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this was honestly one of the worst meals I’ve paid for in a long time. I ordered the vegetable pasta. It was completely over cooked, in a watery tomato sauce with barely any veggies. The whole dish had no salt and no flavour, yet was also way too spicy. My partner ordered the cheese burger. His burger was also way over cooked with the bread being completely dry, to the point where he could barely finish it as it felt like chewing cardboard. The side salad was overdressed, but the chips were nice. It was honestly an effort for us to finish our plates, and even more painful to pay the bill at the end. Around £18 for the burger, and £16 for the pasta. I hope the chefs read this review and reevaluate how they prepare simple dishes like pasta and burgers, because the servers were lovely and view over the water was pretty.

The taste of the food was delicious, atmosphere was very beautiful with the water and with the dog, and service was calm. My only concerns were that the wait for the food was quite long (50 minutes in total excluding the soup which was about a 20 minute wait), and that certain elements were cold-lukewarm, the soup being lukewarm-ish and on the colder side and the potatoes coming with the salmon being cold. That being said, everything else was warm and delectable and the salmon so good that I almost forgot to include the cold potatoes in the review. In the end, outside a few shortcomings, I would definitely recommend.

The owners dog is out of control and attacked our dog. We were speaking to a couple of locals who say they would visit this place more when the incompetent owner isn't around. Food was okay, but over expensive.

The venue is near Fairy Glen in the Port of Uig. The restaurant is not particularly well furnished, but has a beautiful view of the small port in front. We had a decent lunch for 35 pounds (a cheese sandwich, a carbonara with garlic and white wine – still passable, but I was in pasta withdrawal! – two half pints of beer and an American coffee). It seemed strange to me to find carbonara in such a place, perhaps the chef wanted to try to imitate the famous Italian dish, without completely succeeding. Anonymous and distracted service, certainly to be improved.

Restaurant where the food is correct and the service impeccable. The view is nice. The Pub next door is very good, a regular atmosphere!

Genuinely some of the best macaroni and cheese on this planet. Think of it often

smiling but not responsive waitress. the price is much too expensive for what's on the plate... cold dish, no taste and barely defrosted. the salmon was not accompanied by sauce, it's a shame.

I didn't have high expectations when visiting this place, the outside is filthy and absolutely disgusting. When we first walked in we were rudely directed to the bar by a waitress who clearly didn't want to speak to us. You could at least pretend to want to speak to us. The guy on the bar was also on the strange side, but at least he wanted to talk to us. When we finally got our food we were not impressed. Black flakes in the fish and chips, so clearly the oil isn't getting changed here. The whole place is absolutely filthy too and very overpriced. Full of drunk idiots singing too. We will never come back.

Great find with a great view! Langoustines were delicious and sweet! Local caught and very fresh. The fish and chips here was quite sizable and delicious. Wonderful view of the sea. Pretty decent service, I didn't have any of the negative experiences described by the other reviews. Definitely give this one a shot!

Lovely place for a hearty meal. Portions are huge and nicely made

The place is a bit shabby, indoors and out. Inside had a strange smell and the toilets were pretty grim. Outside could do with a bit TLC, simple things like weeding and tidying up in general, the flower tubs were all dead or full of weeds. It didn't look like mush effort was put into that look of the place. Never tried the food so can't comment there.

We ate after the Quiraing hike as a family around 4:30 p.m. Excellent fish and chips and pasta. Table next to the bay window with superb view 👍friendly waiters and fast service. I recommend.

Food was superb and reasonably price staff very friendly and helpful visited here twice between crossing on the boat to harris,so very handy that bar is also decent had a few pints With some locals who wur freindly and a good laugh would defo come back here again . The mussels and chicken wings wur 10/10

Only restaurant in town open. Went in Friday night at 8:45 to get some dinner, Was told the fryers were off… Other tables still eating. Please update your hours to the bar is open till 11 but the kitchen is open until ______ ?

We had no options for food in the area - everything was closed except this place. We had 2 kids and a dog with us, so needed to sit on the bar side. It was a cold and damp day, and this side of the restaurant felt cold and damp. There is no service really...you order at the bar. The waitress we had greet us was not very kind. The bartender on the bar side was inattentive. Fish and chips though were delicious. Had chicken wings which were nice and spicy. Our son had a mini kids fish and chips which was very generous! Mussels also very good. so despite it's lack of comfort and service, the food is pretty good.

We ate an excellent “bouillabaisse” which I still remember!! I had underrated the experience a little, so I would like to modify my opinion because it remains a very good memory. We came back this year but unfortunately we didn't have time to come for dinner! Next time surely!!

This restauraunt is amazing. The view of the ocean is incredible. The food is amazing.

Casual and straightforward no frills eatery with a great view. The lasagna was pretty good, but the star of the menu (for seafood lovers) has to be the langoustines. They were super fresh and deliciously sweet.

Great food, unfortunately the lobster ran out, the fish soup excellent, the mussels excellent. The service was slightly chaotic, although the soup was ordered as an appetizer, everything came to the table at once. Friendly prices.

The people make this place so special. Taking time to get to know the owner, staff, and other tourists made this our favorite stop on our trip. The fresh seafood far exceeded expectations, and the views can’t be beat. I can’t say enough good things about our time here.

Pretty average! Restaurant located at the foot of the ferry to reach the island of Harris, well placed, lots of people (lots of tourists and few restaurants!), which makes it a bit of a tourist factory. The service was very long and rather disorganized, the waiters nothing more and the food standard, not bad, but there is so much better in Scotland! Mixed feeling! I have to respond to the frustrated owner! In no case am I comparing one restaurant to 20 pounds and the other to 100 pounds! If you are not able to provide a service with 350 people, don’t do it! It’s not up to customers to put up with this! I am always very measured in reviews (I invite you to look at them) I rarely leave bad reviews but when it does, I do it. If you don't accept criticism, you need to change careers! I didn't say anything mean, these are criticisms so you can improve! To the wise!

The most expensive and worst coffee in recent memory. 9 pounds for 2. You have been warned.

Absolutely terrible. abrupt staff and awful food. I asked if they did gluten free, the reply was we have no gluten free bread which was not a problem. I asked for decaf coffee, I was told, I don't do decaf so I had water. The gluten free effort was supposed to be grilled fish with potatoes and peas. The grilled fish had been pan fried and had bits of batter on it. The potatoes were black and inedible. We questioned this and were told it had been grilled when clearly it had not. To cap it all, there was a sign on the toilet door saying that if you were not a patron, there was a charge of £1 to use the toilet and if you failed to pay the £1, you would receive a £60 fine. Completely laughable. The prices were too high for what you got. They either do not read their reviews or don't care. Will never go there again and would not recommend it to anyone either.

We wanted to eat a sandwich here. Ordered online and the drinks arrived quite quickly. We still didn't have the sandwiches after more than half an hour. While people who arrived after us already received their (hot!) food. When we asked inside, they grabbed two pre-packed sandwiches behind the bar and gave them in the box. Apparently putting them on a plate was too much trouble. Sandwiches were fresh, but I had already lost my appetite. I would never go back here.

Actually a good place to eat. Food was decent. Service brought soup with the main course, but didn't ask if it should be served as a starter. Payment in the BAR. Rather expensive compared to other restaurants in Scotland. Food is served in normal dishes again.

There are few restaurants in the area and so we gave it a chance despite the previous bad reviews. Really not impressed.... I ordered the seafood linguine after the waitress told me it was langoustines, mussels and a bit of fish in a creamy sauce. There was no mussel, 2 tiny langoustines and more fish (very salty!) and the "sauce" was actually butter. Expensive to pay for pasta with butter and fish....

Very rich and fresh seafood platter, the price was cheaper than expected, service was very nice and courteous. Full selection even for lunch.

Brilliant, they had room for us where as any where else in the local area was full. Unfortunately the price did not reflect the quality of the food. But it served a purpose as it was horrible weather and we were in our camper van. Staff very friendly

Ordered and paid via app. Wasn't delivered, had to ask for it anyway. Cappuccino was ditch water!! And that for £3.80. Very bad!!

Great local pub with a full bar and friendly staff. Definitely worth the stop.

£18 for bad fish and chips, toilets are the worst we’ve seen and we have been wild camping in Skye for 2 days so we have seen bad toilets but they were awful. When our food was served and the waiter told us to go and get our cutlery. Really bad place would avoid, go up the road to the petrol station there is a better alternative there.

Order was forgotten and food was brought after complaint. Food was ok but unfortunately unseasoned. Spices are on the table. Bill at the counter and payment at the bar. Constantly very loud, drunk bar patrons. Warning: Vehicle was damaged in front of the restaurant by these drunken rioters. Bartender didn't care.

Gem of Scotland situated by the sea, superb location for the ferry. Two meals purchased Langoustines with homemade pasta in a light delightful dressing and one from the special board chicken Katsu on a chip bed great size portions, coffee to finish then spotted the lively bar with a large selection of Whiskeys and Gin , will be back soon

Nice meal where there are few meal points

Well, the good point was the friendly guy serving, who was up for a good chat and dispensing local advice. So that was a plus point. But on the minus side that was the worst cup of coffee I have ever had. It wasn't even warm, let alone hot. It makes me wonder whether they know what coffee is really meant to be like. So bad it was quite funny.

We had fish and chips, a beef burger and mussels. The burger was bland, but the rest was great. Especially the mussels. The restaurant is a little run down, but i wouldn't dare to expect a five star restaurant ambience at the end of an island in scottland. I had a drink in the pub after dinner and got to know the owner and staff. It was lovely and so much fun.

The linguine bolognas and lasagna was really good, Fish and chips and muscles were great! Relaxed atmosphere, nice view. Highly recommend!

I don't like google ratings as it can be unfair to judge on a single experience. However, this restaurant really deserves this. First of all, it's not cheap. I can understand that the place is remote and it offers a pleasant view but it's not a reason to charge this much for such bad food. It really is not. I had the Linguine, I travelled allover Europe and let me tell you it's the worst I've ever had. If you want to forgive them on the food, well that's on you. Even a single pint cost about 6 quids. No good atmosphere inside, two drunks at the counter. Take it from me: cook at home and enjoy yourself, don't spend £30/person in this place.

Nice view, food was microwave oven warmed industrial food.

Surprised that there are still places which relies that there is enough tourists to keep the place up and running by serving overpriced food straight from microwave oven. Place itself has a great view to sea and no reason why not succeed by hiring a real cook. But paying 18 pounds for dry and rewarmed agnus-steak in a dry burger sandwhich with nothing else between makes me feel like an idiot..

Some of the reviews are not great, however we couldn't fault it at all, Friendly staff, food served within 15 mins of order, good size portions, and nice food, at a good price, what more could you ask.

Expensive food for very poor quality. One poor young girl was on her own and doing her best. Lack of options in the area.

We had to go because the waitress was on the edge, there were many free places to sit near the windows and be able to see the sea and she sat us at a table next to the kitchen and she also served us late to the point of going somewhere else

It was closed. It was listed as open, but was closed. It looked like it might be shut down temporarily, it wasn't clear, and I couldn't see any clues on the door or windows. At the time, Jan 2024, there is a construction site nearby where they are expanding the ferry port. I don't know whether it's lack of openness was linked to that.

Place smells like poo especially near the bar, staff very poorly organised poor girl on the bar had only just started working there and had been left to struggle with no help food was standard and the place was pretty run down looking. Went for drinks and food

Locals bar with nice atmosphere. Beer very good and not expensive. Food pub fare with very good fish and chips and excellent service. Ideal stop if using ferry.

The restaurant/bar needs some serious tlc. Stained chairs and a bad smell as you go in. Food service was slow, the older man was very nice though just rushed off his feet. The food was actually pretty good. We had the burgers. The hot chocolate was dreadful and very pricey compared to the other places we've been around Skye.

Food was delicious and very cheap. Staff was great. Bar dog was friendly. Guy behind the bar was very knowledgeable about all the whiskeys on offer and kindly explained the ins and outs of enjoying the taste. Highly recommend abit of down time here.

We arrived right at 5:30 when they were serving dinner again. We had no problem getting a table but it got quite busy soon after. Our server was friendly and he was the only server working. I thought did a great job handling all of the tables. We had soup and fish & chips which were both good. The table beside us really enjoyed their grilled haddock. We watched the ferry pull in and the cars load on.

We had a wonderful seafood lunch here! Got the daily specials: mussels, salmon, and scallops. All were very fresh and generous portions. We also got a soup (chicken and rice) and it was hearty and tasty. Dining room is simply decorated, but with an expansive view over the port of Uig. Service was very friendly and the barman gave us some advice on which whiskeys to try while in Skye. We came at 2:55p and they still served us hot food even though the kitchen closed at 3:00p. Coffee was also got and tasty. We highly recommend the Bakur restaurant!

Exactly what I needed stepping off the Ferry. We drove by quickly after driving off the ferry, but turned around. So glad we did. Mussels are excellent, fish and chips are gorgeous! Lovely little restaurant, comfy, and some tables have a nice view of the Harbour. Service is great. Highly recommend.

We had a great meal here. Very local and food was fresh. Mussels had just come in. Does not open for dinner till 530 as seems to be common on Skye. Nice water view. Hope to return. Also, pool table and pub available if you arrive before serving starts

Food was good/great, 4 meals (haddock, goat cheese tart, mussels, Mac-cheese). Staff was great, fast & fun. It’s not a fancy place, just down to earth decent good food. With noisy fun bar attached.

We enjoyed a relaxed early (5:30pm) dinner on a Monday night. No problems getting a table. Today they were not taking bookings but being early got a table with a view over the harbour. Friendly staff, prompt service. Mussels special was very nice with a nice broth that worked well with the mussels and garlic bread but was a little salty for my taste on its own.

Any port in a storm! Little choice so had a drink here. We had contemplated eating, but there was an awful smell in bar so as it had said local beers above the door I asked for a Skye beer, no chance, the beer was from Aberdeen. The bar dog got into an altercation with some visiting dogs and then pissed over bench where no doubt some customer would soon sit. Staff friendly enough. As others have said why bother when you have a captive market. If you intend catch the ferry try to find a place a to stop before the terminal for a drink or a bite to eat.

We got to the ferry queue for 12pm and had a lovely lunch here. Staff were very friendly, food was tasty, piping hot and promptly served. Nice place (and cute dog), very handy while waiting for the ferry in the rain (also offered takeaway box if we had needed it) 🍤🫖⛴️

The black Labrador from this restaurant is viscous! Whilst waiting at the ferry terminal we took our 2 dachshunds out for a walk, No more than 2 minutes out of the car and the black lab attacked our youngest pup for no reason at all! The lady in the restaurant didn’t even apologise when we went to tell her about the attack instead just said “get in bad boy” then walked away from us!! Absolutely appalling and the dog should not be left to roam.

We arrived in Uig at 1200 and needed to be back to the car by 1330 in readiness to board the ferry. The entrance door was locked and there were no business hours on display. Two people were seated inside but we were unable to join them. On previous trips we have had a very positive experience in the Pier Restaurant but it now appears to offer a very poor service.

Contrary to other reviews, we had an excellent meal here. Starting with the soup of the day, which was chicken & rice, it was tasty, we’ll seasoned and had a nice consistency. The bread that came with it was a light brown seeded bread. We also had the fish& chips, which we thought was very good, big portion, crispy, as were the chips. We enjoyed our meal very much.

Called in for coffee, wish we hadn’t. Flat white coffee came in cardboard cups and looked like milky water couldn’t taste any coffee and the most expensive coffee I have ever bought @ £4:50 a cup. Definitely will not be visiting again.

Really the only place to go if you're waiting for the ferry. Captive market twice a day so in no deed for staff to be pleasant or helpful. Surprisingly, had two excellent pints of Belhaven Best Ale - not a statement I'd ever thought I'd say given the general poor quality of Scottish ales. Typical Scottish pub decor and staff.
