Please please sort your tables out they are sticky to touch get the wax sanded off get them sealed with a good quality varnish please get this sorted before i visit in 10 days time thankyou

We've been eating at Lorimers for years and today was sadly disappointing. Any husband ordered the full breakfast but could not order poached eggs! I ordered link sausage and egg roll. My roll came with an over cooked lorn and egg. I asked the waitress if she could change it for link sausage. I was informed I'd have to wait until they were cooked. This was no problem. When my roll came, my husband was nearly finished his breakfast. My roll with the fried egg had obviously been left under a hot plate and was all dry and hard. Very disappointed in you Lorimers

Terrible service and food. Firstly the awful greasy smell you smell upon entering as if the fryers haven’t been cleaned. Food over priced, staff look dirty with no customer service experience. Waited ages at the counter before being served. They also forgot my drinks. First time trying and will never be back. So disappointed.

Great food, good value and lovely staff 😀.. what more do you need!! Just wish we had found it earlier in holiday as would definitely return. 😀

I have a severe food allergy and thought that as I have eaten here in the past, it would be okay to do so again. I stood in the queue and watched them pour cheese over a baguette, not over the cheese tub but over the lettuce. I explained that I that I had an allergy and had wanted a sandwich, but after watching them being made, it would be unwise, and I'd get chips instead. Well, this member of staff then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't eat there because of cross contamination and made it clear I was not welcome. I had to get other work colleagues their order, and a lovely boy did try to help by explaining they have gluten free and everything that they do for gluten which doesn't seem to apply with any other food allergies or intolerance. I got my work colleagues order and when handing it over another server points out it contains cheese and I told him it's not for me, I've been told I can't eat here he said that's right it says on the board. To be clear, the board does have a may contain on the board but doesn't say we don't cater for allergies. They have vegan options listed, and I had made an order in my head and don't expect to be able to eat everywhere. But if you can't change your gloves, don't take care when filling your sandwiches, then can't care about customers. My lovely colleagues have said that they won't go there now after my treatment.

The food is good and the staff is very friendly but also slow when I went. Some people came after me, and got served before me.

Take out, ok chips, poor fish. Ordered small fish supper, think small fish fried for same length of time as large. Pretty dry and tasteless. Expensive and disappointing.

I hadn't had fish and chips for a couple of months and my wife and I arrived at Lorimers. I'd had fish here before and it was excellent. The food arrived, beautifully presented. My wife's scampi was fine, but my haddock was disastrous. A perfectly good piece of fish, so overcooked that it was stuck to the batter, dry and tasteless. Deep-frying fish is easy and quick. There is no excuse for getting it wrong. What was meant to be a treat turned into a trial which cost us £20. Get a new chef!

I was delighted with the spirit of the waiters and waitresses even though it was very busy and they were struggling to keep up. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or not since there was 2 of them in the restaurant however it was full! even the sandwich station had a queue almost out the front door! Very happy with the service we got even if there was a 25 minute wait for food.

Stopped in a few days ago and had lunch. my wife had a tuna sandwich which was a good size and I had a Jumbo Haddock supper which lived up to the name! definitely worth a visit. staff seemed a little overwhelmed with tables waiting to be seated but greeted them kindly and explained there may be a 10 minute delay

Regularly visit if in need of a quick sandwich for lunch which has always been good & fresh. Heard the breakfasts were very good so came in with family to try it out, which proved to be correct, that good we came back the next day. Rather disappointed to say the least when i asked for an egg without a yolk to be told the chef couldnt preform such a task, although managed to the previous day. We had ordered a portion of chips for the children but we didnt receive them until after we had finished our breakfasts and were ready to leave. Will rethink about coming back due to this.

I went for lunch here, then came out to a sticker on my car telling me I shouldn't have parked there! It was near impossible to get this sticker off and I had to get a proffesional car cleaner to remove it as it was really badly stuck on and left sticky marks everywhere I called to speak to the manager who told me it was the head chef that did it and he "has a habit of doing this to people's cars" I told the manager about the damage done and I expected a refund for the car wash company having to remove it. I was told I'd get a call back and to this day have never heard back. Also, it is illegal to put anything on anyone's car.

Many tables left uncleared on a quiet Monday. Orders taking forever to be taken. Food came out with a 10 minute difference between each meal, and food came before the coffee 🤨 No faults to the foot at all was lovely just didn’t appreciate the service considering it was quiet.

We booked a table for high tea. Duly arrived and ordered at 5.45. At 6.15 our food arrived. I had ordered fish in breadcrumbs and mushy peas . i received a fish done in batter which I asked to be exchanged. In the meantime my wife and grandson had their food. After 10 minutes the waitress came back with exactly the same items . When I queried it again I was told they were out of breadcrumbs. Does the chef not know how to make breadcrumbs ? Where was my plate for 10 minutes ? Luckily for them we had to get back so i ate otherwise i'd have asked for something else. I'd have lost the will to live waiting for it. The couple at the next table gave up waiting for their food after 30 minutes and left having had just tea and bread . The restaurant had a total of 15 people in it 6 of which were there when we arrived. The staff were youngsters (nothing wrong with that ) but they lacked direction and management. If there was management on site where were they? This used to be a great restaurant but it's gone downhill fast. It's a place I would have recommended to anyone. I can't do that now.

Stopped here for a ‘quick’ takeaway. What a shambles, Gordon Ramsay would love this for Kitchen Nightmares! Service was slow, the young assistant was pleasant but had no back up from senior staff. There was no system, lots of swearing from front of house staff and a half hour wait for any order. Eventually got a fish supper but the ‘crinkle cut’ chips were horrible and outdated. The box it came in probably cost more than the meal. Shocking!

Overall unimpressed with the takeaway food, chips were greasy, macaroni was full of oil and quite a small portion, smoked sausage was burnt. Probably won’t be back after this which is a shame.

Stopped off while passing through getting fuel and we were not disappointed. Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips and homemade steak pie. Had specials on offer for high teas. Great value

He estado yendo a lorimers durante varios años cuando me detengo durante la noche como camionero. La comida es buena y el servicio también. Desde la reapertura de la pandemia, las cosas han cambiado. Dejar de lado el plan de ayuda del gobierno que es de lunes a miércoles, otros días se ha vuelto caro. El distanciamiento social en estos días con mesas adosadas no encajaba en mi opinión con el consejo del gobierno. La situación del plato ha cambiado a lo que yo llamaría una pizarra en lugar de un plato. Las papas fritas están en una pequeña canasta de malla metálica que es menos que antes. el impacto final llegó cuando se trataba de la factura. Normalmente 8. 50. . Ahora ha aumentado a 14 libras + por un pescado, 10 chips como máximo, una pequeña taza de té (una más) y una rebanada de pan con mantequilla. Ahora las patatas de pescado y el pan no han subido de precio, así que lo dejaré para recuperar el dinero perdido mientras está cerrado. Lamentablemente, los camareros y las camareras también estarán fuera de su bolsillo con respecto a las propinas. Had not been here for about 12 years,the restaurant didn’t appear to have been decorated and was in need of some T L C. I would have complained bitterly if I had paid the £25.00 for two large haddock and chips instead of half that amount under the eat out to help out scheme,frankly it was only worth what I had paid.The service was very slow,it took for ever for them to clear a nearby table that had been vacated,the condiments on each table were not removed and sanitized after use.I saw one customer sit at a table,use a fork to scratch his back,put it down and then move to another table.Customers were allowed to walk in and out and around without face coverings.I think they have got lost the plot with pricing this is no more than an old fashioned chippy.I would never ever return here.

We booked a table for 9 people, once we ordered we waited an hour for food and it still didn't come together. In the meantime my friend has spilled her drink, female waitress noticed but continued cleaning the table next to us instead of coming to help so we found blue roll and cleaned up ourselves. One of the desserts ordered was missing 2 ingredients ice cream and strawberries so my friend returned it to ask for a new one, when the new one was brought she didn't even get an apology from the waitress for the wait. When she got her second dessert it had a hair in it. Very poor service from both waitresses, the waiter tried but unfortunately was serving other tables and not ours. Prices are average but unfortunately so was the food. Would not recommend and definitely don't go if your short on time.

This restaurant was honestly such a great experience, the staff was very welcoming and hygienic, they even turned the heating up when we was the only ones in the restaurant. The food was fantastic me and my partner both loved it, would certainly recommend to anyone

Carry out food was okay but prices very expensive. One sausage supper and one single black pudding was £11.50 (£6.75 a supper and £4.75 single black pudding!!!). Ridiculous and won’t be back.

We're sat for 10mins before a drinks and food order was taken and a further 15mins to receive drinks then ha ING to wait and watch as customers that came in after us by 10mins to get there food order first. We only ordered fish suppers and it had taken them a full 40mins to provide us with our lunch. This is the 3rd time we have had this kind of slow service and to be given food that was below the standard of what we used to get here has put us off from returning. The chips were dry and not fully cooked and fish had no seasoning to it. Food was left half eaten due to this.

visited here for an evening meal for only the second time.Good range of menu choice especially fish which I had and thoroughly enjoyed.Restaurant wasnt too busy but it was a Tuesday night and there were at least half a dozen people waiting for takeaway.Would definately go back.

I visited to buy some chips to take away. Waited 10 minutes, and nobody even acknowledged me - or the two people ahead of me in the queue - so I left. Plenty of staff, but heads down, talking to nobody.

Having had a busy ,long day,just wanted a lazy take away tea. Two people in Queue in front of me,three came in after us.Appeared to be very few staff to serve restaurant part and takeaway.Gave order,daughter ordering burger supper,the girl on till politely asking did she want salad,to which she replied just lettuce,no tomato.well,we waited and waited,the customers in front served and away,the customers behind served and away,eventually the guy cooking popped his head round and said ,just waiting for the burger.So we waited,and waited,eventually wee called forward. The young lady asked the guy twice,which was haggis,which was white pudding to which he gave a smart remark,then he turned and said there’s a burger with loads of tomato ! Having taken our supper home my daughter opened hers and when she bit into the burger it was still raw in middle. Having waited so long,and we’re hungry and fed up we just couldn’t be bothered going back. Not the best.

Siempre que necesito comer en Inverness, me dirijo al restaurante familiar Lorimers. Lorimers es un restaurante de comida para llevar y es muy popular entre la gente local. Principalmente un restaurante de pescado y papas fritas, este lugar ofrece una excelente relación calidad-precio "Té de pescado" por las tardes. El té consiste en eglefino, guisantes, papas fritas, pan y mantequilla, salsa tartare casera y té / café. Gran valor a las 8. 95! Hay un menú completo para sentarse y la comida para llevar también tiene una buena selección de platos. El personal siempre es amable y servicial.

This place was recommended by a work mate and it lived up to it's reputation. Breaded haddock, chips, pickled onions, buttered bread and a black coffee. Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection, the rest was good. Could not finish the bread as I was too full. I'll be back!

En general, la comida es buena y el servicio es muy agradable y servicial. Aunque el rebozado de pescado estaba recocido y había un mínimo de pescado en la ayuda en mi última visita. No nos cobraron por ello y volveremos después de un tiempo.

You grow old waiting - they don't seem to care - a half empty restaurant and they still take an hour to serve you two fish suppers! Disgrace. They only seem to care about the takeaway people. Avoid.

Pedí y pagué bacalao y patatas fritas y también pastel de carne y patatas fritas. Paré aquí por capricho cuando pasamos y parecía ocupado, lo cual siempre es una buena señal. La comida y el servicio no decepcionó. Tuve el pastel de carne que estaba muy sabroso. Mi marido tenía el pescado y las patatas fritas, que también era muy bueno. Demasiado lleno para tomar helado pero buenas selecciones.

We found this by chance on our way back to Lock Ness. The waitress was so attentive and helpful and the food was amazing, especially the large Haddock meal. We are a family of four with two boys aged 12 & 11 so they made full use of the ice cream bar.

Wasn't that busy on our visit but had to wait over 40mins for Soup and a sandwich.

No estaba muy ocupada, le preguntamos a la joven camarera si podíamos tomar medias raciones, ella le preguntó al camarero que asumí que era el gerente, él estuvo de acuerdo, hizo nuestro pedido de pescado y una cigafa. La camarera incluso repitió nuestro pedido, el servicio fue rápido pero la orden fue incorrecta 2 scampis no chips, explicó que era la orden equivocada, la camarera dijo que no hacemos medias pociones, dije que preguntamos y nos dijeron que había. Su actitud fue grosera, respondió que no, no queremos esto o no, decidimos irnos a otro lugar, el personal necesita conocer el menú y comunicarse.

Me detuve en Lorimers para tomar un desayuno rápido de salchicha, huevo y tostadas con un café. El servicio fue rápido y amable y la comida llegó en buen momento. Era muy sabrosa y pensé en una buena calidad a un precio razonable. No hay ninguna queja.

La comida estaba bien, pero mi ensalada de gambas principal era pequeña. Cuando pregunté por la ensalada de col, me dijeron que la ensalada de gambas no venía con ensalada de col. Señalé que el menú decía que sí. El supervisor le dijo al camarero que tomara el precio del pudín de mi hija para tener en cuenta la falta de ensalada de col. Sin embargo, el pudín ya estaba incluido en la comida de los niños. Camarero hizo su mejor, pero pobre, no profesional servicio de supervisor. No lo recomendaría.

I love fish and would eat it 7 days a week but it has to be properly cooked (NOT over cooked as it nearly always is in fish and chip shops)) by someone who knows what they are doing. Graham at Lorimers really does.

We haven’t had a fish and chips for ages, so as we were passing, we popped into Lorimers for a takeaway. The take away section of the restaurant is at the back of the building, we walked straight up to the counter and ordered straight away. The gentleman who served us was smartly presented and friendly, and after taking our order, he proceeded to make our order from fresh, Lorimers normally do this, it may mean waiting a little longer but great to have it fresh. They also have lovely comfy couches to sit on whilst waiting for your order to be prepared, you don’t get that luxury in many other takeaways! It is quite expensive, but the produce seems to be high quality so you get what you pay for. The packaging is great, the chips are crinkle cut which I love and the fish was great! One of the best fish and chip shops in town in my opinion.

We eat most Saturday's at Lorimers and always find the food excellent. Butch's steak pie is as good as you will find anywhere! The staff are always helpful and polite, Burti in particular makes you feel very welcome! *****+

The only positive things I can say about this place is that it has one waitress (that we saw) that will go out of her way to help and the manager seemed nice. The waitress that took our food/drinks orders, if I hadn’t have been with my family for an occasion, I’d have left before completing my order. Why she thought that shrugging her shoulders or just mumbling “I dunno” to several simple customer questions about drink availability etc was appropriate, I have no idea. The food came fairly quickly. Everyone ordered something different and if we hadn’t of been there for a child’s birthday lunch, 5 out of 6 meals would have gone straight back. The half chicken was so dried out it was almost inedible and most was left on the plate, the macaroni was so bland as to be unpleasant. The steak pie was so tasteless that even with the heathen addition of brown sauce to try and add some flavour, most was left uneaten. The tomato soup special was revolting. My 4 year old nephew wouldn’t touch it. Thinking he was just being fussy, my sister and I both tried it and then promptly took it away from him because even we wouldn’t have eaten it. The mega burger, while tasty, was dried out. Based on everything else at the table it was a reasonable assumption that is was just reheated from being precooked. The chips from this locally famous chip shop were shocking. Having worked in one in my youth, There’s no way they were fresh. The only food that came to that table that was worthy of the reputation that Lorimers has, was the fresh haddock. Our gratitude to the lovely lass that went and dug around in the store room to rustle us up a couple of bottles of lager. It was the best tasting thing at the table. I purposely didn’t complain or make a fuss or a scene or make any demands of management for the state of what was turned out because it was my nephews birthday treat and I didn’t want to ruin it for him. I don’t know if this was just an off day or the usual standard. But, none of us will go back. And I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Every time I've eaten from Lorimers I've not been unsatisfied yet. I haven't actually been for a sit down meal at Lorimers for awhile because the last time I went I remember the atmosphere not being great but their takeaway makes up for it. There Tuna Salad, in my opinion, is better than Harry Gows it is amazing. There fish and chips are also very nice and this is coming from someone who doesn't like your usual battered fish from the chip shop, but there's is just right not to much grease or anything like that at all. The restaurant itself is quite cozy and I love lights outside in the evening, I think overall its a must go in Inverness rather than just going for one of the food chain restaurants.

I’ve been eating here since the early 90”s, I hadn’t been in for a while, so we ventured in, the takeaway side was busy, the cafe side was empty, we were seated after 5 minutes, the menu has a little for everyone, we opted for a fish in batter, fish in breadcrumbs, chicken & sweetcorn baguette and some hot water to heat up a bottle for our baby.

I'm not really sure why this place is only getting "average" reviews on here - food, staff and price were all fantastic.

Myself and my partner stopped in on the off chance one evening after hearing good stories of a local chip shop and were not disappointed, I had a chicken burger which had been minced with extra herbs added to it, clearly a demonstration of a great chef, and my partner had the fish and chips which he said was the nicest bit of fish he had ever eaten, therefore highly recommend this restaurant.

We visited here for a cup of tea and sandwiches! Staff are pleasant and friendly! Food is huge!!! A very generous pots of tea each! Thanks for the hospitality!

A menudo visito Lorimer cuando Inverness es uno de nuestros favoritos. Aunque, hoy mis padres y yo visitamos. Estábamos particularmente decepcionados por los camareros. Tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para estar sentados, aunque estaba tranquilo en ese momento, casi salimos para ir a otro lugar. También fue evidente que otros clientes fueron ignorados cuando intentaban saldar sus cuentas y esperaban para sentarse. Siento que un poco de conversación y reconocimiento tanto para nosotros como para otros clientes habría recorrido un largo camino. Al decir esto, la comida fue fantástica, como siempre.

Este lugar es muy tradicional, un combinado para llevar/sentarse en familia chippie. El personal era amable y servicial, a pesar de no poder cumplir con los requisitos sin gluten vegetariano/combo gratis de mi pareja. Ella terminamos el helado para la cena y el helado caseros era delicioso y llegó en una variedad de sabores interesantes. Tuve breadcrumb abadejo con patatas y guisantes, y fue maravilloso. Todo era fresco y casero - incluso las patatas fritas, así raro de encontrar que estos días. Los elementos fritos estaban cocinadas en goteo que hacía bueno pero no vegetariano. Creo que debería seguir haciendo lo que hacen! Gracias por su hospitalidad, chicos nos encantó. También somos una pareja gay y nos sentimos muy bien acogidos.
