The best restaurants serving British food in England

Food was just ok, didnt tasted as a read in the menu, we ordered 2 different types of chicken and both were exactly the same. Service was terrible, not attention at all. One of the waitress had her dinner sat next to us with the feet up the chairs, very disappointed, we were very looking forward to go there... sorry.

We’ve been many times before and always enjoyed the food and friendly service. Today wasn’t as good - very limited menu, kedgeree was dry and the kimchi chicken overdone and extremely salty… kids menu is good and the breakfast is great, but the main lunch menu is limited and not great value for money for what it is.

Stayed here for dinner, bed and breakfast after hiking up the old man of Coniston. What a charming little pub, warm and friendly service, fantastic beer and proper Moorish home-cooked food in the evening. I could’ve ordered everything off the menu. Stayed in the strawberry bank suite which was absolutely lovely and in keeping with the style of the Inn

We had visited the restaurant before in the autumn and we were looking forward to a similar tasty meal with the added extra of seeing the view and a good sunset. Unfortunately, our reservation was for Sunday evening - the same time as a birthday bash for the owner. We do not begrudge their fun and entertainment as they all work so hard and really deserve to let their hair down, - but please let us know! We were the only people in the restaurant, waited on by two bored servers who had nothing else to do. If we had been told that there was a party booked that night, we would have visited on another day. The meal was fine but certainly not worth the high price. The prawn salad was alright, however my mussels were tiny and in a tasteless thick cream sauce. The Dover sole was expensive and not cooked by someone who felt it was a special dish of the day. It was served with the largest pile of French beans I have seen for a long time! The skin was not removed and I was picking scales out of my mouth all night. I did not say anything as I did not discover this until I turned the fish over to eat the second side. We had a good seat by the window and, yes, the view is incredible - but the noise, music and singing from the bar made it hard to have a conversation. All in all, a very disappointing evening, an expensive mistake and one which we will not be repeating.

5 Estrellas debido al 'Camarero'? que nos atendió fuera (en la 1 calle o 2a visita) , siendo un 'políglota' (9 idiomas fluidos) , Y dando Excelente Servicio. Haber visitado por lo menos DOS VECES (Tanto mi cumpleaños y mi cumpleaños de hermanas menores (sentado en interiores - noviembre) , y cumpleaños de mamás (sentado al aire libre - abril). No puedo recordar el año real - Mamá falleció en diciembre de 2022 , por lo que fue ANTES de esa fecha en ambas ocasiones. MEJOR COMIDA DE CALIDAD QUE HE TENIDO, también el mejor servicio de la historia. "Muy caro", pero la comida es tan buena que iría allí mucho más si pudiera permitírmelo. Tan impresionado estaba por el camarero 'políglota', que me inspiró a aprender 'más idiomas', ahora 'sé' un poco de cada uno, de entre 50 - 74 idiomas, de todo el mundo de 6 continentes, y de lugares que nunca visitaré debido a la falta de tiempo, dinero y nivel de aptitud física de salud (ahora más de 60 años y parcialmente discapacitado en este punto en 2025).

Service and coffee fine. Ice cream sundae already very soft when it arrived, just about melted. I would expect better from Betty's and the price paid. I mentioned it when paying as you do ask if everything was OK. Just got blank looks , no apology . Paid and left. Disappointed.

Was a total delight to find this pub and it had a extensive g.f.menu. The food ( fish & chips) was absolutely delicious and cooked to order. The staff were charming and very helpful. Would highly recommend this pub....don't drive pass..go in you will not be disappointed.

Sunday Lunch at the Feathers was great. A fully loaded plate of meat, veg and potatoes. All piping hot. The biscoff cheescake was first class too. Very friendly staff. Most enjoyable visit.

We drove past so thought we'd stop in for lunch as it was around 2:00 and the sign out front read "Open 12 - Close" only to be told they were closed and opening at 4:00. Gave it 1 star as I don't actually know what it's like there.

We enjoyed our breakfast here so much we came back again the following morning! Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Great for dogs. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Beautiful setting and great food. This is a wonderful centuries old pub that caters for all. Two legs or four. The gardens ensure solo visitors, couples and families are catered for with the bar /restaurant following suit this should be a destination for all. The food is beyond amazing , I didn’t want it to end! I am a random visitor not a local but I wish I lived nearer. The staff are so knowledgeable, kind and welcoming, a sure change from more commercial places. I enjoyed every moment thank you x

Excellent food very friendly staff, great outdoor seating area, we had two course lunch special which was very good value

Très belle endroit dans une ancienne gare cuisine raffinée. Le service était parfait les plats étaient très bon avec des mélanges de saveurs qu’ils fallaient oser.
