Absolutely great food,beautifully presented,the child meals are great all good proper food rather than the usual cheap rubbish served on children's menus. The staff were great and made some excellent recommendations for us. We will be back.

Fantastic place for lunch. We were made to feel very welcome, the staff were incredibly polite and friendly. We had children's and adults meals, ham salad, toasties, scampi, fish goujons, poached egg and avocado toast. Every plate came out beautifully presented, generous portions and incredibly tasty. Would not hesitate to recommend!

This is a simple straightforward establishment where our previous visit encouraged us to visit again for a light lunch. The cafe was busy, but we received a friendly greeting and were allocated a table. It was confirmed that an allergy requirement could be easily accommodated and our order was taken at the table. It was delivered quickly, was tasty and represented good value. Service was great. We would willingly return if in the area.

A small gem in Kirby Lonsdale, catering for everyone with separate vegan and gluten free menus. In a mixed group including allergies and a vegan, all our food was delicious (try the vegan banana biscoff bread!) and we felt very well looked after. Nothing was an inconvenience even though our orders were not simple with nut and seed allergies etc. The service was brilliant and very friendly. I also really enjoyed the ambience and decor.

This is the nicest lunch cafe in Kirkby Lonsdale. The food was fantastic, service with smiles in a beautifully thought out interior that just adds to the experience. A definite for lunch in this beautiful village.

After trying many other places in the area not offering Gluten Free options we found this wonderful cafe. Very friendly young lady (sorry now I didn’t get her name) was so helpful with my Gluten Free diet as I am Coeliac. Nothing was too much trouble. Such a friendly place. My Gluten Free toastie with tuna and melted cheese was a great portion and so tasty! The others were really happy with their food too! We will definitely return when we are in the area. Went to Kirkby Lonsdale, for a de-stress walk, & in need of refreshment, we happened on this wonderful place. We were greeted by a very pleasant member of a staff, a rare thing nowadays. We were seated comfortably, & whilst the menu is not the most extensive, it caters for most tastes.We ordered a ham & mustard sourdough toastie, & it was delicious, a little too much mustard for my wife`s taste, but not for me. My wife also had a bowl of fresh tomato soup, too much for her to finish, but I finished it off, & again, delicious. All in all a great experience, it may not be the cheapest, but I believe you get value for money, & will have no hesitation, in returning.

We just love returning to stay in Kirkby Lonsdale and are here for a week this time. Number 44 is always our ‘ go to cafe ‘ that has never disappointed and we have made 2 visits so far. The smiling welcome we received from the ‘coffee maker’ got us off to a good start and after a long rainy walk the full breakfast was enjoyed by my husband and brother while I had the toasted teacake. The breakfast was great ..nice to get quality..and I wish I’d also had it..although the tea cakes one of the best I’ve had. I get pretty fed up when out trying to get my latte the way I like it ‘a single shot extra hot latte’ but here it’s perfect and staff checked back with me to make sure it’s to my satisfaction. I asked when the mince pies would be back as I couldn’t see them on the menu (they were memorable from our last Xmas weekend visit) to be told that they’d be back for the Xmas period and the chef was busy making preparations. Imagine our surprise when we were given some ‘ to sample’ at the end of our breakfast. Fabulous and totally unexpected. Well done and thank you. You’ll see us again.

Lovely, fast service. The breakfast is beautiful, my husband had the Cumbrian breakfast and it was a really good size. I had a bacon bap with mushrooms and it was perfect and my son had a bacon bap. Previously had lunch here and it was some of the best homemade soup I’ve ever had (Tomato) with a Mediterranean scone - always 5 ⭐️ plenty of staff and always very attentive. Well done 👍🏻

After looking around we finally found somewhere serving vegan/vegetarian food 😋 A very good menu for such a small place. I had the vegan chicken nuggets which were lush. Just a shame you have to sit out the front if you have a dog.

Great little local cafe. Went for breakfast most days whilst staying nearby. Were both vegetarians, plenty of options available and they were happy to swap things around and let us go 'off menu' to create the perfect cooked breakfast. Great coffee too and friendly service. One of the best cafe meals we have had. Great menu - we had mango and avocado salad and BLT baguette. Both meals superb and cheaper than other establishments. Service great. This will be our go to place in Kirby Lonsdale to eat and drink.

Wow! Stopped in here on our way to The Lakes, absolute find. Quirky littlw cafe with fantastic food. Had the Mediterranean open sourdough sandwich and Halloumi burger, both epic. A must visit for anyone.

This is not the most imposing cafe we have ever seen but once inside we were delighted with the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. There is no obvious menu outside but the choice was good if not extensive. Our meals were brought quickly despite the cafe being very busy and we enjoyed them very much. I suffer with Coeliac disease - staff were extremely rude and belittling at first, disregarded me asking about a separate toaster for GF bread. Said they’d give gluten free sausages, got given vegan sausages which are known to have wheat in - asked to see ingredients and the young boy who was the waiter shut me down.When I didn’t eat the sausages or toast because I didn’t want to risk cross contamination, young waiter looked at the manager and looked down at my plate as if to show her I’d not eaten my sausages/toast.Extremely rude, would NEVER recommend this to people with coeliac.

Have visited here several times on our way to the Lakes, mainly for coffee and a scone which is always pretty good. Had a breakfast this time and it was excellent, if just a little bit pricey at £10.50.No option for fried egg, just scrambled or poached, as picture.Recommended.

Came here with family on Saturday and decided to have a bacon butty. I like my bacon crispy so asked for it that way. When it came it was served on a warm, crispy ciabatta roll. There was absolutely NO fat on the bacon and it was cooked perfectly. I have never had such a good butty in my life. It was absolutely delicious.

We came here and were so impressed. It’s difficult to cater for us as a family as we have diverse nutritional needs. However not only was everyone catered for but the food was exceptionally good. Our service was fantastic. Our waiting staff were friendly, warm and knowledgeable. My vegan fish and chips, the (vegan) tartar sauce blended well with the meal. My son had a cheese sandwich from the children’s menu which was excellent value too. I was also impressed by the attention to detail. As a vegan, I tend not to eat the biscuits included as know it won’t be suitable. However I was given a special (homemade) vegan cookie to accompany my drink, which was absolutely delicious. We often visit Kirkby and nearly always call in here for a food and drink stop. Very pleasant atmosphere too.

Used google to find a possible vegetarian/vegan teashop in Kirkby Lonsdale. Number Forty Four came up. This cafe is NOT, however, vegetarian/vegan. It simply has a few options, like most cafe's now, that are non-meat. And there is a plaque on the wall showing the names of dead sea-creatures. Not something a vegetarian or vegan wishes to see while eating (or, indeed, at any time). In other respects the place was OK, although nothing to write home about. But the main thing I wanted to emphasise is that it is NOT a vegetarian/vegan cafe.

We stopped here for our breakfast and it was really tasty. A nice place with attentive staff. The food was good but would have added some toast if we ate their again.

We visited as a family today to the lovely village of Kirkby Lonsdale and stopped off for lunch at the Number Forty Four cafe. What a treat it was, we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to a lovely diner style table at the back of the cafe. The atmosphere was excellent and spotlessly clean. Being gluten free my wife and I are generally left disappointed with the options available...but not here! The lady that served us was wonderfully friendly, chatty and informative to our GF needs. Our food was plentiful, tasty and promptly brought out, despite a busy lunchtime period. The food was reasonably priced and so plentiful that we were left very full and content. We were very impressed with our visit. If you're ever visiting Kirkby Lonsdale be sure to have your lunch here. Excellent.

Visited twice while staying in Kirby lonsdale. Had milk shakes one afternoon, so refreshing. Went back for breakfast the next day, absolutely fabulous. Would highly recommend and will definitely call in again when in the area

We visited this place twice during our visit to the area.I had the largest scone ever! Not only was it delicately flavoured with vanilla and sultanas, but it was warmed through.The service was absolutely first class: very friendly, efficient staff and they were strict on Covid safety too. Well yes , we are out again . I've visited this café several times before lockdown and always had good food so we called in today. It's the same owner and the food is superb . Today we sat outside luckily just under a canopy. Only cappuccinos and cakes but goodness what cakes . I had one of their legendary scones . It come on a large plate as it's a large warm scone , accompanied by cream jam and butter in a fancy dish thing . My partner had the best gluten free cake she has ever had whilst eating out . It was a warm cherry and almond polenta cake with sort of stewed cherries on the side . I was lucky enough to taste it and yes it's very very good. I'm so glad these cafes are surviving and this one was also busy which is what they need. They also provide a g/f option to a shortbread biscuit to go with the coffee FIVE STARS.

We really enjoyed this cafe and definitely want to visit again. The food is lovely and the staff are very friendly and provide a very good service. We were pleased to see that they were following Covid guidelines very well and cleaning down tables and seats for the next customer. The cafe was very comfortable on a warm day with the door open for ventilation and the aircon running which was fab. The toilets were very clean. On the whole it was a great experience and we actually visited twice on the same day. The staff made us feel very welcome and we greatly enjoyed the food.

A really lovely find. We received a very warm welcome and accommodating. I requested to change seats because I was hot and without hesitation moved me closer to the door. I opted for the veggie breakfast and it was amazing. Plenty of it and the veggie sticks were out of this world. My other half had a tuna toastie and he said it had plenty of filling and sour dough bread lovely and not too hard as it can be sometimes. Definitely worth a visit and we will be back next time we are here.

Number Forty Four is a cafe right in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale catering for vegans, so we stopped by for lunch on our way back from Northumberland as they have an excellent vegan menu. I thought the addition of a mini cookie accompanying our coffee was a really nice touch, in fact we had a choice and chose chocolate and hazelnut.I chose asparagus and cauliflower soup of the day and hubby the avocado and garlic mushrooms on sourdough. The food was fantastic, the soup was the best I have eaten in a long time, served with sourdough toast and the avocado and mushrooms on toast got the big thumbs up.We could not resist cake, so ordered a flapjack, cherry and chocolate cake, with two Earl Grey teas and oat milk, once more served with a vegan sweet treat. The cakes were scrumptious, I have tried making flapjacks and failed as they end up hard and dry, but this had a soft chewy texture, just perfect. The cherry and chocolate cake was wolfed down by hubby, which says it all really, a great combination of flavours.We had a chat with owner Gabriella as we were leaving, who kindly gave us two vegan cheese scones to take home. We had them for breakfast the following day with a large coffee, just how I remember my mum's scones (an excellent baker), absolutely scrumptious.On a previous visit last July, we had cheese, pesto and tomato toasties which were the best toastie I have ever eaten, totally lush.Number Forty Four is a fabulous place for vegans, I cannot recommend it highly enough and if I lived nearby I would never be away. If you are in the vicinity definitely pop in, you will not regret it.

The usual Covid stuff before entering but showed to a table quickly. Staff very friendly and helpful, the place was very clean and tables and seats cleaned quickly when customers left.A decent menu and the quality was very good as was the service. Toilets were spotless to. Prices were reasonable considering what these types of buis'ness have been through.All in all a great little place which we would visit again.

This is the place we come to when we first land in Kirkby Lonsdale and we come several times a year. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. We sat inside on our first morning but were able to find a table outside yesterday in the sun so that we could watch the world go by. Breakfasts are too big but beautifully cooked and presented and cakes and scones mmmm. Must also give the coffee a mention.

Lovely food. We sat outside on the pavement and enjoyed a prawn salad and local ham platter, sharing a bowl of chips. All were delicious and fresh, and portions were generous. The cakes looked lovely but we were too full to indulge so hopefully we will go back to try them out.

Always a great cafe for a latte and on this visit when only takeaways are allowed I’m pleased to say the takeaways are just as good. Piping hot too. The homemade baking on offer is exceptional..can’t wait for indoor service to resume and we’ll be back.

We visited Number Forty Four on a Saturday morning in December after a walk by the river. The number of vegan choices in the cake cabinet on the table outside was what tempted us, we were spoilt for choice. We ordered two soft drinks and a (huge) vegan festive scone to share with vegan butter and strawberry jam. The vegan festive scone was exceptional.The staff were all really friendly, and helpful. We enjoyed sitting at a table outside. And we felt it was very reasonably priced, costing £9.We are already looking forward to visiting again to sample more of Number Forty Four’s vegan offering.

We called for an impromptu lunch today to dodge the showers and were not disappointed. My wife and I had an excellent lunch in the 'Number Forty Four' recently .As apart from the food and drink we were also most impressed with the service and the efficiency of the friendly staff. Above all was the culture in regard to Covid control. They even went to the lengths of sanitising each table once customers had left and would not let people sit in a vacant table until such measures had been undertaken.

Our first choice next door were only doing takeaways so a quick look on TA and found we were actually standing outside this lovely café.Professional outfit this; friendly people, spotlessly clean and excellent service.I had the date slice, 'healthy' cake option and absolutely delicious.Don't often visit Kirkby Lonsdale but it's a lovely little place and I'd look forward to trying another cake here.

Visited number 44 in Kirkby Lonsdale last week. We were just passing and it looked very nice, clean and with a few tables outside which you can not sit at until they were sanitised. Very good we thought so we sat down and ordered latte and cakes. They were absolutely beautiful. Staff are brilliant, food is really good, tastes great and presented beautifully. As we were back again for a few days this week in our motorhome, we had to go back and have similar! Lattes with scones that are to die for and baked on site each day. Superb quality and so tasty. We will be back.
