The best restaurants serving British food in England

Danish pastry completely sealed in plastic. It was really awful so checked packaging. They make them and seal them for a 3 day shelf life, so no fresh bakery produce here, you are as well with a mass-produced supermarket one. Checking the ingredients, they aren't even Danish pastry ingredients. The "superdough" part of the ingredients was just a chemical filled anomaly of things that shouldn't be there. That is not a Danish Pastry. And why all those unnecessary ingredients in the icing? Icing sugar and water would suffice. Interestingly, there is no flour listed on the ingredients for the superdough so I doubt it is a legal list. That is quite a serious omission! I attach a photo of the ingredients list. Philps comment is that they do mention flour later under possible allergens

Brilliant dinner,super quality,great experience. Need to REMOVE speed humps and replace with some more suitable. They WILL damage cars, ridiculous.

This was a mixed experience. The staff were very friendly and the food good honest pub food. We stayed in the twin room costing £195 including breakfast. The rooms are described as delux but are not. The shower room was lovely and room well furnished but this was spoilt firstly by the proximity of the beer garden with a noisy family group sitting very close meaning we couldn’t relax outside the room in the seating area and then secondly with the room being swelteringly hot and airless meaning a sleepless night. There is a wall fan which suggests this is a known problem. The blue lights in the room are very odd and combined with being asked to sign paperwork that we wouldn’t smoke or take drugs in the room made us wonder where on earth we were staying. We did eventually figure out how to switch the blue lights off, thankfully.

Un sábado soleado por la tarde reunirse con amigos. Nos sentamos afuera y disfrutamos compartiendo una botella de efluvio antes de comer. La zona exterior es un entorno precioso con un montón de grandes paraguas. Todos disfrutamos de la comida, pero encontramos el tamaño de las porciones un poco pequeño. Por ejemplo, teníamos el Camembert horneado que era pequeño para un plato compartido como se anuncia. Afortunadamente también habíamos pedido los calamares, que era uno de los mejores que habíamos probado! Un poco de pan extra y algunas aceitunas y estaba bien. Todos disfrutamos de nuestras opciones de platos principales y tuvimos espacio para el pudín, que era una ventaja. Deliciosa fondant de chocolate y mis amigos les encantó su crema brûlée. Muy buen vino de rosa también. En general, una tarde muy agradable / tarde temprano. El servicio fue amable y atento sin ser intrusivo. Me gustaría comer aquí de nuevo.

Most unforgettable moment? Watching the grill cook lick his spoon, then go right back to basting. Appetite: instantly gone.

Mothers' Day: what a way to spoil the day. We arrived and waited for our allotted time. We were sat and we waited and we waited. We actually waited 55 minutes before the food arrived. On arrival my wife (who's Mothers' Day meal it was) received a frankly cold meal. It was taken away and reheated (allegedly) to approaching tepid. My Sunday Lunch would have been okay if I'd ordered a child's portion! The bill received I gave my feedback. The manager stated the kitchen was busy; so? They took the booking after all. A percentage was taken off the bill but I gained the distinct impression the manager felt this had resolved everything. I wanted a good experience at full price because a reduced priced bad experience is still bad. We shall not be back and we are local!

We had an absolutely gorgeous sunday lunch, the turkey and the lamb was beautiful, and a great selection of vegetables accompanied the meal.we also had a lovely spring roll starter, will definitely be going back there.

Booked a single room for 2 nights. Located in a seperate building from the bar/restaurant, the room was cosy and clean, with a wardrobe, desk, hot drink facilities and toiletries in the en-suite. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the food in the bar/restaurant is excellent. Will definitely be back.

Pub très agréable. Nous désespérions de trouver une table à 20h pendant le week-end de Pâques, et après 10 minutes au bar, tout était réglé. J'ai beaucoup apprécié les légumes verts de saison et nous avons partagé un pie énormissime et topissime.

We was happy with majority off the service we received. We go At least once a week, as we really enjoy it here. We decided to order a sharer board, and it was worst mistake, it just had 90/95% off salad and leaves and not much food, for the price it was.

The menu has deteriorated unfortunately from previous high standard . Chicken Caesar salad was just over cooked breaded chicken on a serving of salad with little dressing. The flat iron steak was not in a ciabatta as advertised and not as flavoursome as it always was on the previous menu. Skinny chips instead of chunky is I suppose a matter of taste but another step backwards in my opinion

Nice environment, staff could be more welcoming . Left as limited vegetarian option. Left and ate elsewhere.
