The best restaurants serving British food in England

Lovely cafe! Beautifully made coffee, speedy and genuine customer service. Enjoyed our afternoon breakfast!

Not impressed. It was 1pm at the end of a walk -we decided to get coffees and snacks. Being vegan, we’re limited but were made up there were choices! There was a sign at the entrance to the cafe blocking the way but didn’t investigate. We probably would rather sit inside. Not sure why that was closed - even if it was. Its the Easter holidays. Lovely day so we went to the back to the window hatch and would sit outside. Ordered three vegan sausage balms and coffee. Server said she’d have to check and man came up and said ‘no no no its far too late for breakfast now.’ I hadnt realised this was breakfast. He offered nothing more and was dismissive so we just came away and they lost around £20 sale. Need to be more accommodating, especially for people with limited diets.….but we wont be going back.

Visiting a friend and picked up a few pies here as the shop looked lovely so drew me in! Omg was I pleasantly surprised. Absolutely gorgeous pies full of filling and flavour! Will defo return! If you like your pies this is the place to go!

I usually use the Khao Sarn restaurant in Walton-on-Thames for takeaway Thai food, but ordered from the Thai Courtyard in East Molesey as Khao Sarn was closed this evening. The food consisted of a spicy beef panang and sticky rice. Or at least that’s what I ordered. There was a layer of oil on top of the beef curry that was literally around 1cm thick. The sticky rice was undercooked to the point that it was crunchy. I called the restaurant to point out the state of the food, at which point the first member of staff told me, ‘I can assure you that the rice was microwaved correctly’. After a brief dialogue where I was basically accused of lying about the state of the food, I offered to send a photograph of the curry to show how bad it was. I duly sent a photograph of how bad the food was, and heard nothing back. I then called the restaurant again, before I was asked to explain why the food was unsatisfactory again to several other members of staff, before finally speaking to a woman who purported to be the manager. The manager was rude and disinterested , making clear that she wasn’t interested in the quality of the food she had served. My advice would be to avoid Thai Courtyard and use Khao Sarn in Walton.

Visitamos Brid varias veces al año y siempre tenemos nuestro pescado y patatas fritas para llevar de Brid Bay. Nuestro último día fue el Boxing Day (por segundo año consecutivo) y fue genial como siempre. El pescado se despelleja y se recubre con una masa realmente crujiente y ligera y las patatas fritas también están bien cocidas. El personal es eficiente y amable y el lugar está impecable. Muy recomendable! Propina - es solo efectivo.

Love the food and the staff are so nice. The delicious smell wafting around the market place, just drags me in. Great shop

There aren't many cafes quite like this one.

We both had the pie & mash bowl with 1/2 beef gravy & 1/2 “liquor” (a greenish gravy) & we loved it. The owner was very personable and proud of the reputation she’s built over the decades. It was the best local fare we had in London and also the most affordable meal during our stay. But bring CASH. No cards are accepted.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the members of staff at the Jazz cafe who made such a memorable birthday for my Mum! We enjoyed afternoon tea, the table arrangement was fabulous and the food was amazing! Lovely sandwiches, cheese and crackers, beautiful mini cakes and scones with jam and cream to name some of the items that was served also we had plenty of tea and coffee to accompany it . Will be back again. Highly recommended!

Wonderful community cafe, we visit every time we’re in Malvern and it never disappoints. World’s best chocolate cake in particular!! Would highly recommend stopping in, the staff are extremely welcoming!

Usually really enjoy our lunches at Great Corby. Waited over an hour - husbands meal arrived first - Luke warm and chips looked greasy and tired. Told Chef never made soufflé b4 and it had failed - raw soufflé arrjved 10 mins later. No bread which I had ordered and salad arrived opposite to what I had ordered. Ended up not paying. Could see waitresses embarrassed and felt sorry for them. Apparently working with agency chefs - have to say pub ruining reputation. Lunch was appalling and won’t be back until staff secured. Hugely disappointing!!

Esta fue una excelente comida y excelente hospitalidad proporcionada por los estudiantes de la Universidad del Oeste de Londres en su restaurante de formación, y si este es el futuro de la buena comida, se ve brillante. Tres platos perfectamente presentados, un cóctel, vino y café llegaron a un poco más de £ 40 , y no hay cargo por servicio. El servicio era amable y atento sin ser intrusivo, y toda la operación estaba siendo discretamente supervisada por su tutor. Volveré.

All food was fresh home made and lovely and hot. Kids meals absolutely beautiful and fresh. Beef roast dinner was tender and soft

My husband and I were staying at the nearby county hotel and decided to call in for a coffee on the way into the shopping area. The coffee was great and the millionaires slice was lovely. Service was very good.
