It is a difficult time to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary, but we couldn’t have bettered the take- away meal we had from The Village Restaurant tonight. The prawn cocktail starter followed by Lobster Mornay were first class- the vegetables al dente and the presentation was just lovely. Thank you so much, David and Linda for making our very special day just that!

This must be our 5th or 6th visit here as we always come when in Cornwall. Restaurant was very full but the chef David coped brilliantly ( he cooks alone I believe), getting good quality meals out in good time and a wide variety of food too. Service from his lovely wife Lynda and the additional waitress was kind and attentive as always. As I have said in previous reviews, although the cooking is of an extremely high standard to say the least, it’s more very gifted amateur than professional but is all the lovelier for that. We always feel as though we are going to eat with family - so relaxing.

My husband and myself come here every time we visit Cornwall and, this time, we brought our adult daughter too. The service is lovely and very personal and it is so nice to see a chef take such personal pride in the dishes he cooked. Fish and seafood are the specialities and we were not disappointed by the scallop starters, lobster, stone bass and sole mains. Desserts of ice cream, chocolate fondant and sticky toffee pudding did not disappoint either. I have eaten here a number of times, as it is as it is only across the road from where we are visiting family. Surprisingly I've never done a TripAdvisor review, but will correct it on this occasion. As usual the food was excellent but I have to commend crab ravioli starter. The outstanding dish for me was the lobster Thermidor, which was half a lobster and a beautiful Thermidor sauce. And finished off with a beautiful chocolate desert which I shouldn't have had. All our other meals were excellent, and this restaurant deserves the place it has in the heart of the locals who use it all year round. The owners run the restaurant and it shows in attention to detail with the food, and the service.

Went as a family of 6 with a 6 and 8 year old for an evening meal. Was initially nervous as I felt the small size would mean the children’s behaviour would be scrutinised; I needn’t have worried. Not only were the staff excellent with the children (bringing their mains out with our starters etc) but the service itself was spot on. Attentive but not intrusive. When I asked about the options for the lobster, our waitress was very knowledgable and willing to spend time telling me about the menu. The food was excellent- no complaints from anyone and they prepared a special dish for both of my children which they both polished off. Recommend the mussels as a starter- the sauce was just delicious. A thoroughly enjoyable evening all round. Thank you.

There were only two other diners in the restaurant, but it was obvious that they were regular customers. We immediately received a warm welcome from Linda, who showed us to our table, handed us the menu and tempted us with the special dishes of the day, before taking our orders for drinks. My friend chose gilt-headed bream, whilst I chose hake, both of which came with delicious sauces, a choice of potatoes and a good variety of vegetables. Both meals were cooked to perfection. We booked for 7 after a couple of tries as the phone diverting service wasn't working. There was only one other table occupied which wasn't a big surprise on a Tuesday in April, but meant a very quiet atmosphere. I had crab ravioli in seafood bisque which was delicious, although the pasta was perhaps a little thick, followed by skate wing, which I hadn't eaten for years so I really enjoyed as well. Had been looking forward to a wide range of fish dishes in what was advertised as being speciality fish restaurant. It was a limited but average menu. Only a couple or so fish dishes available. Other than cod it was mostly monk fish cooked in butter. The crab ravioli was lovely but the pasta slightly too thick for my taste. The whitebait was second to non. Everything was freshly cooked. The service was good and the atmospher very friendly. Most dinners being on first name terms with the proprietors. We were disapointed that the bill for a 2 course average dinner was slightly more than we were paying for a 4 course luxury dinner in the much more up market Mullion Cove Hotel where we were staying.

The Village Restaurant, where to start? Noted the place on our first day in the area, small tidy looking restaurant with a decent sounding menu. We were not quite prepared for how good it would be. Seats about 25 in an open, not overcrowded room. The menu, plus specials, offers a good range. The lovely lady opted for soufflé to start, said it was like eating a cloud. Crab soup with brandy for me, a generous and very flavoursome bowl. Lasagne for the boss, steak and kidney pie with oysters for me. Both wonderful. Just had room for shared cheesecake to finish. A delight from beginning to end, would go back without hesitation if we are in the area again.Nicely paced, we didn't feel rushed, and the chef came out to say hello to everyone when he was finished cooking. We were looking forward to visiting this restaurant having read the previous trip advisor reviews. The occasion was our Annivarsary. However, our experience was so disappointing that having revisited this site to write our review, I see the previous reviews were 1 year ago, clearly a lot has changed! We pre-booked a table to ensure we had a table for our Annivarsary dinner. We were running a bit late so my husband telephoned the restaurant to say we needed to change our table reservation by 30 minutes, the woman was cool and very off-hand and not particularly pleased with the change of time. We arrived at the restaurant and was met with equal coolness. The woman was very frosty and unwelcoming and this continued throughout the evening. We attempted to make polite conversation when the order was being taken and the food being brought to the table but throughout she appeared almost hostile, uninterested and made absolutely no attempt in making it a pleasant evening for us. The food was average, absolutely nothing special. My main course of Lobster Thermidor was chewy with a watery cheese flavoured sauce, not nice at all. The vegetables were tasteless and not cooked. I could not eat my main meal and due to the woman's hostile and frosty attitude towards us, I did not complain as I did not want to spoil our Annivarsary night with a confrontation with her. I left the food and she removed it without comment. We paid our bill and left. We are fortunate to have eaten in many restaurants all around the world but never had an experience quite like this before. We noticed she seemed to have a similar approach to a party of 4 in the restaurant, although her hostility towards us seemed greater. We did not let it spoil our Annivarsary weekend and found other places to eat in Mullion that served great food with a warm and welcoming ambeience. We would never recommend this restaurant. Poor food and a most appalling service!

Return visit for us as we ate a meal here last year too and came back as it was so good. It didn't disappoint this time either. Beautiful food in a nice, relaxed setting with good service.

We have been eating here since David & Linda opened the restaurant and have never had anything but a great experience. We always take friends who are visitng and they all agree with us. Whatever David cooks is wonderful, try his fresh fish, salmon, lobster or whatever is on the menu. His meat is always locally sourced and is equally good. Linda will give you a warm welcome and explain the menu and the specials. Starters and desserts are equally good.

Pre-booked a table and was made very welcome by the owners. Lovely choice on the menu and a selection of further fish specials. Service with a smile and the food was excellent. I would recommend the crab ravioli starter.

We have stayed one Week in Mullion and have eaten several times out. We were really happy that the restaurant reopened after a short break. We have eaten for dinner, the Ravioli and the Soup were both very nice, the 1/2 Lobster and the Seebass excellent. For us the village is with no doubt the best restaurant in Mullion, not very cheap but Life is so short.......

Excellent meal with good service in pleasant and attractive surroundings. It is an advantage to have a restaurant of this quality in the small village of Mullion.Enjoyed the red mullet and sea bass.

This is an excellent family run restaurant in the centre of Mullion Village serving good food with ingredients sourced locally where possible. Well cooked Sunday lunch, very filling and good choices other than the roast, although the beef was excellent. Good engaged service and a great view

The food’s OK, and not overpriced. What lets the place down is the noisy staff member ( owner?). I know it’s a greasy spoon, but still, one should be able to eat and hear oneself think in relative peace. I sit outside if possible.

Weekday evening here, a very welcoming bar area with open fire, staff very polite and efficient. Good choice of food with a set menu plus ‘a la cart’ as well. The food was really lovely, and reasonably priced, along with good choice of drinks from the bar.

Since leaving London I have missed the small independent bakeries and this one is the answer to my prayers. Great selection of food from hot food and pasties to sweet treats and cakes and priced unbelievably well 😋
