The Blue Anchor in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Took Mum today for Roast in Blue Anchor.The staff were all very welcoming and the pub is beautifully decorated and cosy.Mum had the Nut roast and rated it 10/10 praise indeed!!! I had 3 meats ,the beef was tender, gammon was sooo tasty and chicken was moist all veg were lush.massive portion! We will come back for sure!!! Delicious thankyou !!!

Had a lovely carvery on 27th.. Roast was,lovely ..best beef we have had for ages. All the staff were lovely and friendly. The young lady who did the waitressing was delightful..smiling and polite.. Will definitely go back.

Visited local friends whilst on holiday and wanted to find a traditional local pub to catch up and eat. Very busy Wednesday early evening with many tables eating food and lively bar area, which I like. Food really well priced and portion sizes were good. Staff very welcoming and if you want a non fussy place to eat and drink then check this out.

Terrific local pub; friendly, very earm welcoming, lovely food, especially for a midweek treat, and a real sense of community. Wholeheartedly recommend!

Stayed overnight in my motorhome, popped in for an evening meal, had cream cheese and jalapeño deep fried balls for starters, have to say, they were one of the tastiest starters I have ever enjoyed, followed by scampi and chips. A perfect sized portion and so tasty. Not sure how the chef managed to make something so ordinary taste so good, but it did. Highly recommended if your passing by

It is very rare I would give a 5 star rating as I always find something to slightly mark the point down, but from the moment we walked in the pub, we felt so welcomed, it was almost as if we could have been the only people in. There were quite a few people in the bar and pool table area which gave the place a good atmosphere, sadly we were the only diners in the restaurant area but the noise from the bar made it feel like we were in the same room. This is a pub we like, simple but done to the highest quality, and you could see with the staff they cared for it so much, they were never still if not serving they were cleaning. The menu is what I call good pub grub, a real treat for the eyes that poncy grilled lettuce leaves with some jus, this was proper food at a proper price too. I hadn't had scampi for a long while so I knew what I was having immediately the wife and kids chose from as a say a great simple menu, but done so well. Why complicate things? Do good food well and that's just what they do. Desserts hit the spot too. The place was really clean, especially the toilets, and we signed to where they are. This was a great find and will definitely be back when we are in Cornwall again

Love the Blue Anchor. I stay there often in my campervan when there is live music at weekends and open mic nights midweek occasionally. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them especially if i need any help with my van. Great food and several ales, ciders and wines to choose from. 10/10 +. Cheers Jim. See you soon.

Cracking meal out with the family. All had different meals, and everyone was happy with their choices. Staff very friendly. And the dog was over the moon with her dog treat! Thank you for a great night.

Lovely pub, service was excellent, but the food was awful. Fourth visit and has got worse at each visit. Won’t be a fifth visit.

Just called in at random for a meal. On that basis my comments are based on that moment in time. We was welcomed cheerfully on entering the premises and allowed to select our table. After placing our respective orders we was immediately presented with cutlery and condiments in a very attractive tray. My partner and I chose different meals and both were pleased with the presentation. We enjoyed our meals and when leaving was thanked by the ladies who attended to our table. Would I recommend the Blue Anchor Inn? Most certainly I would with a five star salutation.

Called in today for a meal , absolutely outstanding service from the young lady that took care of us , food was amazing, couldn't fault it what so ever

Had a lovely meal here, I had the pasty and chips, my wife had the ploughman's. Very reasonably priced and for us being dog friendly was a win win.

A family favourite, go for food and drink at least twice a year whilst on holiday in Newquay.

Located near the Fraddon Premier Inn, we stopped here on our way home from holiday. The staff were friendly, the food was hot and fresh. Food was absolutely what you expect in a British pub, burger, chicken, steak, fish and chips, lasagna etc all between £10 and £15. The drinks were expensive, £5 a pint! So far so normal! The bar area can be a little bit noisy, clearly a favourite for local tradies and there's a pool table, so it can get slightly boisterous. However if you want it quiet, you can go down into a lower dining area away from the bar. We would eat there again for sure.

We booked for a midweek catchup with family. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was really good, decent prices and served in good time. We were really well looked after even though the pub was really busy. Lovely atmosphere and will definitely be going back

Vikings go to Valhalla to dine and drink in the great hall with the gods to celebrate a glorious and noble death, however they should have gone to The Blue Anchor for the Sunday roast and beer, a much more satisfying experience for excellent food and a tasty beverage, id hate to be a Viking and missed out …

A local to my friends in Cornwall, so we are in here a lot when in town. A wonderfully friendly crowd, and that's brought in by the friendly staff and management :) Good food, quick service and a great selection of drinks. Big parking lot too, and a kids play area.

A really terrific weekday lunch (friday), well stocked drinks and, ever so friendly mine hosts. A very comfortable place to be. Dog friendly including treats, our Jack Russell loved it. Will be returning for a Sunday Carvery before month end.

We were driving home from Redruth and my Hubby was trying to google a place to eat as we both fancied a roast. I mentioned pulling in to Fraddon services which I affectionately call “Hamburger Hill” in order for us to do research together but low and behold, we noticed the brown sign for The Blue Anchor. It was really easy to find and not far from the A30. The car park is massive and the staff, are absolutely lovely and welcoming. We had a Vege carvery (nut roast) but do not fear, there are plenty of meat choices too. The food was amazing and although we sat away from the ‘real atmosphere’ the vibe was great. FYI: This is also a Brit stop pub. We will definitely visit this gem again and I did eye up the vegetarian lasagne, also on the menu which will be my next choice and I’m sure my Husband would agree 😊

Nice pub with a slightly Nautical theme. Great Beers on offer as well as the usual spirits and Alcohol free options. Great food choice and a good selection on offer on the "specials menu" Friendly staff and generally a friendly atmosphere all round.

What a lovely pub which is very friendly and community based. We arrive only to find we'd picked an evening where the local community were all celebrating one of the customers birthday with an "open mike "night. The whole place was humming with a lovely vibrant atmosphere , so much so that we asked for a menu and they had so many vegan and vegetarian dishes to choose from, we stayed for a meal and the whole evening instead of just a few drinks (We ate our prepared meal on the Thursday) The meals were scrumptious, and great value, the music was exceptional, some very talented folk and the staff and service excellent. Well done Blue Anchor, you made our stay memorable and we can see why your locals support you so well. Thank you for making us welcome

We stayed in our motor home on Wednesday 29/03/23. We were made very welcome. There was an open mic night on when we were there. I was amazed how lively and busy it was midweek in the winter. We also ate there. We are both vegetarian and there was plenty of choices. The food and service was superb. All in all a good time was had by all.
