The best restaurants serving British food in England

I am Gluten free and find it difficult to eat out. At the Albion they went out of their way to make sure that I had everything that I required. My friend and I had a lovely time. Staff are friendly and efficient and really looked after us

We have lived in the area for years but never visited this place ! All I can say is it’s the best breakfast I’ve had out in a long time ! We had the full English and it didn’t disappoint! Nicely cooked and plentiful ! Clean cafe and friendly staff . Well done 👏

One of my favourite pubs, has a lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The manager Suresh is also lovely and welcoming and always provides the best service for us.

Wonderful last minute find. As our plans changed on the day before the Easter weekend we found this lovely hotel online. The staff are very welcoming and professional. The food is amazing! Our room is more like a suite with a king size bed. Beautiful views of the sea and quiet location, couldn't be anymore pleased. Will definitely visit again

We go here quite a lot while out cycling, the food is very good and the staff are always very friendly.

We had a bad experience eating here last month when it was about freezing outside and they refused to close the door due to not ventilating their kitchen. If we'd known, we would have eaten anywhere else. The food was fine, but we didn't return.

A very warm and friendly pub with excellent food. Worth going the extra mile to visit!

Llamé aquí un sábado por la mañana hacía mucho calor y había condensación corriendo por las ventanas. La señora que nos sirvió rechazó una petición muy simple que otros cafés nos han obligado. La comida era de muy mala calidad, especialmente las salchichas que eran horribles y el resto no era mucho mejor, lo siento, pero no volveremos.

Setting is great and has lovely decor. With friendly and attentive staff. Food was good, would go again but quite pricey.

We go out once a week for a treat (not easy in the current financial climate). We decided to visit Macleods Restaurant for lunch. The staff were great, very helpful and pleasant throughout. But we felt let down with the food. There are only 5 main courses on offer, yet one was not available (the burger) as it had not been delivered! Really, you can’t manage to have 5 options delivered and available. We both had the fish and chips, and both of us found the batter heavy and greasy, so we left the batter. Finally, we discovered on paying that a 10% tip was added without notifying us or mentioning it in any way; it was just added to the bill and then included in the total. You shouldn’t just include it in the total and it is not acceptable to put customers in the position of having to ask you to remove a tip from the bill. Money is tight enough without this type of practice, so sadly we won’t be visiting again.

Great little traditional English chippy staff are warm and welcoming and chatty food was great loved the chips and the portions gd value for money and the fish was buitiful thankyou lady's see you soon.

Sat outside with my daughter on a glorious day and had delicious food served by excellent waitress- pity you’re so far away

Called here this morning before going for a walk round Matlock bath. Lovely quaint little tea shop with welcoming servers. Just had drinks but the menu stated a variety of food and cakes. Great prices also. Would call again as lots of Covid restrictions in place so felt safe.
