Great atmosphere and friendly staff, beer garden one of the best in the area in summertime.

Great pub gave a 4* as I didn't have anything to eat. Staff super friendly. Nothing too much bother. Lovely and clean. Beer garden at back huge.

We were here for the second time for after funeral gatherings and had a private room with lovely buffet food, tea and coffee. Staff were efficient and helpful, atmosphere was good despite the circumstances.

Nice pub, good atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon. Rugby on the television. Not the best selection of drinks available, couple cask ales, standard lagers and Beavertown beers options. Quickly, friendly service. Comfortable, family friendly setting.

Great Venue Great Place Reasonable Price

The pizzas are always lovely and we have them a lot as are the chips. Unfortunately at the moment that is all on the menu. The chef tries hard to bring in new items and we can't wait for the winter menu to come in.

Recently refurbished. Genuine improvement and I'll go again.

A pub for some reason I’d never been too until the 1 year anniversary of their quiz night - we’ve been back pretty much every week since. Loads of drink choices, food is great & the quiz is great.

ON WHITBY BAY! Wonderful, inviting, traditional pub! Very clean with awesome ambiance in a fantastic location by the harbor! Friendly and helpful staff and service! They even had delicious drink options for the teetotaler in our group (me). We were walking by and heard amazing music coming from inside. It turned out that it was the meetup place for traditional folk music musicians (from all over the country—most had never met) to jam together. What a thrilling experience it was to sit in the middle of 14 incredibly talented musicians all passionately playing gorgeous Celtic folk music together. Once in a lifetime experience we will never forget in a truly wonderful pub!

Went along for the Tuesday night quiz for the first time. Great atmosphere, fun rounds, wide selection of drinks and free chicken wings (so delicious) and chips. Ample parking.

The Ship (Ye Olde Ship Inn) is a superb pub that offers a superb food and drinks menu and was one of the many pubs we went to around Whitley Bay and Monkseaton on a day out from Newcastle. This is a really impressive pub and reading the sign above the entrance theres been a pub on this sight since 1688 and then it was rebuilt in 1923. A superb multi-roomed pub with a well kept interior throughout the whole pub and lot's of interesting features and superb seating options throughout the whole pubs interior and an excellent outside seating area. The pubs around Monkseaton are without doubt some of the best pubs we visited on a six day city break to Newcastle and this pub was no exception. The Ship Inn was one of the best pubs that we visited as the staff were so friendly and the beers we had in here were superb.The beers we had in here when we visited were a few glasses of Wells brewery Bombardier a superb beer well served and well priced for a pub of this quality. This is an excellent pub and easy to locate from Monkseaton metro station walk along Norham road and left onto Front street it's a short walk. (This is my first review of the Ship inn). My twin brother Stephen and I had decided to purchase a metro ticket in Newcastle Upon Tyne and visit some of the coastal towns along the sea front, we had been to Whitley Bay and our next stop back in the direction of Newcastle Upon Tyne was Monkseaton and the first pub we visited was The Ship Pub. The original pub was there in 1688 ,demolished and rebuilt as Ye Olde Ship Innn in 1923 the only thing that's changed is the name ,now known as The Ship Pub,an absolutely fantastic pub. This is a fabulous looking pub, the interior is multi roomed, an island style serving bar, tv's to enjoy the sport, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside in their front courtyard and their beautiful beer garden out back, its just a fantastic looking pub. We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, a beautiful sunny and hot day ,we were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered " bones lager " from Beavertown Brewery, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the magnificent pub we were in. My lager was really good, love the beers brewed by Beavertown Brewery, this lager was really good, a light, hoppy but not overhopped lager bursting with taste, just so refreshing on such a really hot afternoon, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew. We really enjoyed our beers in here, only stayed for the one each before moving on and for a first time visit to The Ship Pub we had a great time. The Ship Pub is easy to locate along Front Street, a few minutes walk away from the metro station. Opening hours are ; Monday, 3.30pm till 11pm. Tuesday, Midday till 11pm. Wednesday & Thursday, 2pm till 11pm. Friday & Saturday, Midday till Midnight. Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A fabulous pub,one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area.

Loved it , looks great after the re vamp although I haven't been in for years so maybe it's not recent .

An alright pub as it goes. Few beers were off when we were there which was a little disappointing, but had a pizza that was pretty tasty and staff were really helpful. Big group of us there and there was also a party on outside, staff again were more than accommodating. Nice place and well worth a visit.

Haven't been in for 6 years based on my last visit being awful. How this pub has changed. Beer garden to die for. Great surroundings , great service. Will most definitely be back!!!

A really excellent venue, enjoyed the wake, beautiful 🤩 day.

A nice outdoor area out the back, with table service. Neck oil beer was tasty as you'd expect. Less busy than I expected, but maybe folks were being cautious as lockdown eased. Its only 2 minutes walk from my place, happy its so close. It looks like considerable care has gone into the interior, must go back soon.

It's a pub, it serves beer. It's quite expensive for a normal pub. Always popular on new years day as people work their way down through Monkseaton.

Staff were nice, had to wait 45 minutes for a pepperoni pizza on a Wednesday afternoon which is pretty slow. Pizza was better than expected tho and the chips were good.

Just had my daughter's 21st party at The Ship. Fantastic venue with brilliant bar staff, who couldn't do enough for you. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

We had a lovely trip to the lakes on a Saturday which was fine except parking was a nightmare especially with it being a lovely sunny day, there was thousands of visitors so we did the sightseeing first and then some retail therapy before going into the Ship at Bowness for a long overdue meal. It has been here for years and is a regular attraction for many I'm sure. Lovely decor, friendly staff and a kiddys play area all make for a good start. I had a roast turkey roast which was absolutely delicious, with a good selection of vegetables which weren't overcooked, some may find them a little on the hard side especially the carrots but for me they were just right. Quality was spot on and so was the quantity. My wife and daughter had fish and chips and it was here that it fell somewhat short of very good. The plates came with a greaseproof paper which looks like a newspaper no doubt to add some authenticity to the dish, however both meals were racked in grease and it appeared to 'float' on this paper. Not enjoyable was the verdict for the fish and chips. If you go and want this l would ask for any grease to be drained off before it leaves the kitchen. My daughters boyfriend had a curry which he enjoyed. So there we have it two thouraghly enjoyed their meals and two didn't.

Half of this bar has been modernised in to a plastic pub but other side is still quite nice for your older generation.
