Went here with my family for a take away not my first time and has always been very good and will be back again , definitely recommend this place 🐟🍟. Forget to take pictures of food as we were all starving. Been back again 2/1/24 got a table this time same again lovely and will return again 👌🏻👍🏻 Been back again today 14/4/24 all plates cleared again 👌🏻👍🏻 Back again today 23/3/25 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ again .

We've never been to North Shields and popped in here for a bit of lunch. I was amazed by the Gluten Free selection. We shared fish and chips and my wife had black pudding. Everything was delicious. The staff were friendly and had great service skills. Will come back just to eat here. We even recommended the place on the way out to a group undecided

The food is always fantastic and the staff very friendly. Been coming to the waterfront for years. They have the best tasting fish and chips. Batter is soo crispy . And for those who like fish. They have delicious pizza and burgers yum yum. Definitely the only place tgat has the best staff and best fish and chips around no wonder they've been around for 30 years

Had 2 fish and chips last week from here and couldnt fault them they were beautiful, perfect batter to go with them, shop is in a perfect location , we sat overlooking the fishquay, definately going to make this a regular treat.

Excellent chippy with a canny menu

A few years ago this chippy was recommended by a local business and pleased they had as we have been weekly since and hasn't disappointed. Large portions and nicely cooked. fish is extremely tasty. Staff very friendly and accommodating and restaurant is clean and tidy with quick turn around. Often seen queues outside which speaks volumes. Pleased to find this great fish and chip restaurant. Best currently arround. We travel from county durham.

We have been coming here since it opened and have always had exceptional fish and chips. The haddock is our particular favourite with lovely crispy batter and so fresh. The staff are welcoming, friendly and professional and despite getting really busy at times make sure customers are looked after well. It's our go to place and even though we've moved further away we make regular trips back just for this restaurant.

Me and my husband regularly come here from Durham and have fish and chips watching the boats in the car park. My go to is cod, chips and curry sauce and my hubby has either large cod or haddock and chips with mushy peas, it's top notch bait every time. Fresh and tasty ❤️

Husbands a coach driver and has travelled the length and breadth of the country, travelling all over Europe for last 10 plus years and yet always tells everyone he meets that the waterfront is the best of the best!! Not at all expensive, very reasonable for the quality of the food served! Staff always serve with a smile and are an absolute credit to you xx

Been here a few times but not for a few years. Looking forward to good fish and chips. Fish (cod) was decent. A slightly thinner example than I prefer, but perfectly fine. Batter was crisp and rewarding. The chips were perfect. Curry sauce tasted good but I wanted an extra 50%. Mam enjoyed her mushy peas. Tea was nice. My slice of white could have been a bit fresher, but overall, no deal breaker. I didn’t particularly warm to our server but again, no biggy. Will we return? We might do but equally we might not. Would I recommend? We would. Overall, it’s a good example of fish and chips.

Quality food, cooked the traditional way & without extortionate prices. If I lived near this place, I'd end up around 30 stone, I'd never be away.

They have a gluten free menu and offer many of the meals including pizzas and fish or sausage and chips fully gluten free options all cooked in separate gluten free kitchen area and equipment. The quality and flavour is fantastic. Will visit again soon :-)

Lovely fish and chips. A queue to get in due to popularity, but we didn't have to wait long. Staff are very organised, attentive, and very friendly. We had the over 60s portion which was very good value and a good size.

Had food delivered all order wasn’t delivered, fish was more batter than fish, very thin over cooked , chips were nice and were hot

Been there many times over the years and food is amazing. But last night we went looking forward to supper. And when served I tucked into mince pie mushy peas and gravy. The pie was nice and hot but the rest was cold. I pointed it out and they changed gravy decided to give peas a miss. But one member of staff shouted from a distance its impossible to be cold. Well at that point was ready to just leave.and ended up not eating it. But lovely cup of tea.for supper. Think twice now about going back.

Myself and 3 or 4 friends usually have lunch here on our regular visits to North Shields - the small portion of fish and chips which are enough for us and usually very good. Not last week. The fish was small, very thin tail ends and because they were so thin they were overcooked. This was very disappointing and we will be reluctant to return

I’ve ordered a pizza, I’ve got a burned pizza. And tasted very sour too. Awful and waste of money, never again. Also to note that whenever o place an order which is the same all time, I always get charged different amounts, depending on staff. Not great!

great day food fantastic however you are overcharging for your drinks come on 3.90 for a small bottle of beer its a piss take to be frank we are regulars and its taking the mick you are making profits but this is exorbitant seriously your going to loose business with these antics

We visited with our relatives from America who remembered how good it was last time they came to England and wanted to try it again. We were not disappointed. Fish and chips fresh and hot. Pensioners special served with tea great value. Huge portions and served by very pleasant staff (unlike a certain chippy in Amble which we had visited previously.) We even had a very reasonable priced bottle of wine.

Beautiful food in a lovely area, great service will certainly visit again when we visit next year. Good prices and good portions too. Highly recommend

Best value in the North. Never had bad food here. Service is effective but not faffy or pretentious. Staff have time for you. Nothing to criticise. Keep it up.

There are a few fish and chips shops along this street, and I happened across a woman leaving a fresh fish shop for her recommendation. She said Waterfront, and thus I went. The place is very clean and within a minute I was given a menu. I went for haddock and chips, which came with a pot of good tea and mushy peas. The fish was crispy and beautifully fried in beef dripping and the chips were delightful. Service was fast and friendly. Value was excellent for eat in at under a tenner.

My wife and i always get the over 60 s special, cod or haddock,chips,mushy peas/curry,pot of tea for two.Huge portions,very fresh fish and chips.You always get friendly service with a smile. All for just under twenty quid for the two of us.

Absolutely delicious, second too none

This is my 3rd visit here. Myself and the two other people I was with all need to eat gluten free. The restaurant have separate friers for gluten free. We all had fish and chips. The batter on the fish was amazing! The fish was super fresh, really thick and tasty. Very competitive prices too..... The staff were really lovely and very efficient. We would highly recommend this place, especially if you're after a gluten free meal. We recommend the fish and chips... yummy Thanks for a superb meal. We're very happy customers 😊😊😊

We were getting hungry and came across the Waterfront - a classic fish and chip restaurant and judging by the queue out the door after we had arrived, it seems to be a popular place. We were there on a Thursday and pretty early - all the staff are super friendly. We were seated and served quickly. We had standard fish and chips and a pot of tea. The fish and chips was tasty and freshly cooked (hot!) and not greasy, so we enjoyed that and felt it was all reasonably priced too.

Best Fish and Chips ever and the mushy peas are just the yummiest.

We were 5th and 6th in the que in the door way . It took about 20 mins on a Tuesday lunch time for it to be our turn inside. Once in, we were greeted, shown to a table, had our order taken and food put infront of us in 10 minutes! Very impressive service delivery! We paid the over 60s meal deal price which came with mushy peas or curry sauce, batter if you requested it and tea or coffee. Fantastic deal and a good size portion and gorgeous food. Well done. We will go back again.

There were big queues to eat in the restaurant part. Thought it must be good. Went into takeaway and got chips and spam fritter. Spam Fritter was fine but chips were not. Greasy, soggy and not pleasant looking and worse than most chips I have had in North East. Most went in bin. Hope the people queueing up for ages had a better experience.

Called here today, first time for a while. As usual haddock and chips plentiful and fresh, not surprised really it's on the North Shields fish Quay. Always freshly cooked to order with fast service, desserts also fresh and plentiful good choice on the menu to suit anyone. Very competitively priced at less than £38 for 2 people both having dessert and hot drinks. If you haven't been I recommend giving them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Went Bank holiday Monday, usually no complaints but that day smell from Toilets was over powering, a very unpleasant noxious odour. Staff did nothing when told and no explanation Chips were dry and hard , obviously cooked the previous day. Really sad as this was the go to place for the best fish & chips on the quay

Been in here loads and always been excellent but this time the haddock was very poor not nice at all was actually pink instead of white yeah it was very busy but poor chips were also not great either

We have visited before and returned today with my father in law, who is in a wheelchair. The staff were so helpful and the food was delicious once again. Due to mobility difficulties my father in law doesn’t get out very often, he really enjoyed today and The Waterfront was his highlight, Thankyou!

Absolutely gorgeous 5* fish and chips as usual Appalling customer service from one lady in particular. Asked a simple question, and instead of answering 'yes or no' she raised her voice and went on a tirade, in a restaurant full of people. We Would have left but we had traveled very far, waited in a queue, and my kids were looking forward to their fish supper. All other staff members are helpful and nice.

Always eat here when at the coast it never let's u down.

really nice crispy fish fillets with a nice crunchy batter. the chips however were lackluster quite soggy and could’ve been crispier. there is seating inside as well as benches across the road. quick service in a nice clean chippy

To me the best fish and chips in the northeast, its a nice little cafe with a takeaway side and friendly helpfull staff. It has a good menu with great food!

Takeaway fish and chips, good value, nice generous portion of chips! £8.50 for a cod and chips. Staff are friendly, easy to order, they accept cash or card. There are some benches across the road. Or, what I like to do especially when it’s minus 2 is to eat in the car! With the view of the North Sea ❤️ Low Lights car park nearby is free and perfect for a walk alone the promenade after devouring your fish and chips.

How can a chip shop get basics so wrong!! The chips were anaemic!! Very very undercooked and tasteless!! My husband ordered haddock and was given cod!! I ordered a spam fritter which tbf was the only thing that tasted ok! The “large” portion of curry was watery and tasteless!! To top it all off, the lady serving had false nails on and no gloves!!! Absolutely disgraceful place! Will never be going back!!

Food was actually beautiful. The fish was probably the best I've ever had, but there was a hair in my food, and it completely put me off. All staff should be wearing hair nets.

Its been over a year since weve been here. Very disappointing. Fish and chips lukewarm, not piping hot. Batter not crispy. Sorry but we wont be back.

Got fish sandwich with chips and started with worst ever D&V at around 0100 that evening. Can only be down to this as had nothing else to eat all day. Will not be back.
