Hadn't been for a while and was impressed. I thought it was good before but it was faultless this time. We had brunch of my favourite- avocado smash on toast with poached egg and I had halloumi added. No niggles at all- really well-cooked, tasty food, good-sized portions, arrived quickly and the service was great. Staff were friendly, keen and checked that everything was right. Good quality bread, really tasty avocado smash, perfectly poached egg and the halloumi was cooked with a crispy outside and was delicious.

Sunny Tuesday and an unexpected opportunity to try a spot of breakfast in a place that’s been on the radar for some time. Ordered the full English & my other half opted for Eggs Benedict with additional ham hock. Coffee arrived first & turned out to be the highlight for both of us: great flavour and a good size. Service was also friendly & punctual. The food a little underwhelming with the emphasis on little. For example, my wife’s dish came with one slice of sourdough which was so small it was comfortably covered by the two eggs. Mine was a similar story: one sausage, one rasher, one egg, one slice of toast…you get the picture. All cooked well & tasty enough but definitely polite rather than punchy. £35 in total and vfm was such that I would have scored 3.5 if it had been an option. This market is way too competitive to be returning unless it’s just for the coffee.

Now I used to love this place and we’ve been in a few mornings, afternoons early evenings for food in the past. However yesterday we tried to get something to eat at 3 o’clock on a glorious sunny Saturday. It was surprisingly quiet and the reason why soon became clear. After looking at the menu board and spotting the ham and cheese focaccia on the specials we headed in to order. The lady at the counter asked if we wanted just drinks or food. We replied food and were handed an alternative shorter menu. This consisted mainly of bacon or sausage sandwiches or toast I wish I’d taken a photo as it was very limited choice. I asked about the focaccia advertised to which she said I’ll ask if it’s available. She asked in the kitchen and the reply was no. There was no sorry we’ve ran out just a flat no. Giving the impression that someone just wasn’t willing to make it. As we were totally uninspired by the menu we left and went elsewhere. Now I don’t know if this place has changed hands or when they changed their menus but this was really disappointing. On a summers or any afternoon when everywhere else is buzzing to reduce their menu so much seems crazy. I can only dream of the fantastic veggie burger with fries we had one autumn early evening sat outside at the same place. I’m all for supporting local independent businesses but sometimes I feel the support has to be two way, give us a reason to visit. Yes the breakfast and brunch are fantastic but you guys missed out as you let an easy £25 bill walk out your door.

The Boatyard Brunch Café is a must-visit if you are in the Northumberland area. It serves delicious food and drinks. The owner Tom, manager Scott, and their friendly staff are very welcoming and helpful. They can also provide tips on what to visit in the area. My personal favorites at the cafe were the Bowls and the Plant Plate, a mix of beans, hash browns, veggie sausage, tomatoes, avocado, scrambled tofu, mushrooms, and toasted sourdough bread. I loved the Oat Hot Chocolate as it was the perfect drink after a cold morning swim in the sea. During my week-long stay in Cullercoats, I went there daily, and it consistently exceeded my expectations. Don't miss out on this delightful spot!

We have visited here twice now and i can't speak highly enough of all involved with this venue. The food has been fantastic and they use local produce or homemade in their menu. The owner and staff are lovely and very friendly, welcoming and the place has a nice cosy feel about it. They cater for dogs 🐕 and our little fellow had the dogs dinner and absolutely loved it. The kids really enjoyed their pancakes and ice cream from the little pirates menu which has a good choice of options for children. Also on our 2nd visit with our little baby boy the staff were excellent as he has a dairy intolerance and they made him scrambled eggs on toast and also made an effort to bring it out early for him as he was a little hangry 🤣 ( Again fantastic service) As you can see from the few photos. Unfortunately not the best today. We’ve had good service here before but not today. Ordered two fry ups and a veggie plate, along with coffee. Decided to move tables after a bit and informed the staff. Waited for about 30 mins for the food, only to have one of the three dishes not arrive.. When it was raised, we were effectively told that as we’d moved tables, it had caused a problem - except we had told the staff! Coffee was ok but a bit bitter and no milk. Butter was missing from the toast for the other two meals. Asked for butter for my husband’s toast, so that I could actually eat something whilst I was waiting. Took a while. Waited for a while for a my own meal, whilst the people alongside us said they were missing hashbrown from their own. So, that’s no milk, no hashbrown for the neighbour, no butter for us and no meal for me. When it did turn up, it was one rasher of rather fatty bacon, an egg (which was nice), one sausage, and the rest of the normal things. It wasn’t cheap either so basically, not cheap for poor service and adequate food today. Such a shame. Not to say that we haven’t had good staff here before though.

£25 For 1 fry up breakfast, 1 poached egg on toast and 2 pots of tea is rather excessive, the fry up breakfast consisted of 1 sausage, 1 bacon rasher, 1 egg, 1 black pudding, mushrooms, a small pot of beans, 1 slice of toast. Not enough milk given for 2 pots of tea had to ask for more. The staff were welcoming enough although did get asked a few times if everything was OK. Won't be going back at those prices.

That was funny, your reply, Tom Don’t worry, I won’t be back to your dog pound. The café was lovely when it was the copper kettle or whatever it was called. I have great memories of being there with my Aunty Brenda and that’s all that matters. Kind regards I dared return to the boatyard yesterday with my cousin, hoping that it had improved ! As always, food was delicious, service was impeccable but omg the damn dogs! Cafe was crawling with them. Sniffing round your table, barking loudly. There was a rail outside but of course their selfish owners refused to tie up their hounds outside. Of course it is the dog owners I blame, not the dogs. The owners want to push their pets on all the customers it’s hideous. I understand also that if a cafe tefuses to make their premises, ‘dog friendly’ the dog owners gang up and put terrible reviews on the café Google site or Tripadvisor. They are despicable. sadly I won’t be there again which should cheer the dog owners, unless your policy changes for the better 🤦 DISASTER! The Owners have decided to make the best cafe at the Coast into a “dog friendly” establishment Now don’t get me wrong, I generally like dogs but this little cafe is now packed with sniffing, barking irritating hounds that ferret around your feet and sniff your bags as if they are considering peeing on them: Hardly a relaxing environment! The dog owners are generally elderly ladies who assume you love their pets and so they should let them jump up on you and crowd your table while they smile at you and expect you to start chatting dog with them. I probably sound crusty but I really am horrified that the Cafe has done this. Maybe the profits have doubled by making your Cafe into Crufts, time will tell. Much as I loved the eggs, the haggis, the lovely bread, the former ambience and the staff I must reluctantly bin you until perhaps you become buried in dog hair, poop and the lingering smell and realise you’ve lost your most appreciative customers Greatly saddened 😢✋

Absolutely terrible experience. 4 of us went in. Table By window was free but told couldn't use it as keeping in case 5 people came in. So we sat by the door in the draught and one of us was 85. The girl who I first spoke too was awful . If it hadn't been for the fact we were there for my uncles 85th I would have left. Generally today the attitude of staff appalling. Had the plant based breakfast. Replaced tofu with poached egg. When it came egg was not runny at all and the plate of food just barely warm. Again I would have just walked out but because we were here with our uncle I didn't want to cause a scene. Asked lady for a proper poached egg and was told in an awful manner you should have said if you wanted it runny! Poached eggs should be runny. 2 people had the fry ups they were happy but both plant plates barely warm and lacked a lot. Even got scowled at asking for some butter. Will never go back there felt unwelcome as soon as we stepped through the door.

Sinking Standards (although now under better management). I'm teetering between 3-4 stars. 3 would be a tad harsh, in my opinion. There are some options for vegans; there is not as much as there used to be. There is even less of it than there used to be. Portion sizes have slimmed down - although the price hasn't. The brought-in cakes & bakes are a better bet. Go for the coffee. Their coffee is brilliant. Boatyard usually use an East African blend from Baristocracy - which is milder & fruitier than than most. They favour flavourful notes over the stronger & bitterer beans of companies like Tynemouth Coffee. Boatyard's Ethiopian/Rwandan Blend - with hints of caramel and blueberry - is my favourite coffee. It is reason to return. The venue & 'vibe' is good. The barista staff are nice and friendly. It is a lovely place to enjoy one of the best blends of coffee around. My Labrador loved it here. I still enjoy the coffee. I don't enjoy being charged an extra 40p for vegan milk alternatives - even for a 'babycinno'. It is wrong - but that's an argument for another time. Pros: Great Coffee (Ethiopian/Rwandan), Cosy Café, Friendly Baristas Cons: Underwhelming Food, Extra Expensive For Vegans, Poor Portions

We ordered a chocolate and raspberry brownie to share, which was out of this world. My tea arrived in a beautiful cast iron tea pot. I asked the young girl where they got them from. She wasn’t sure, but came back over after looking on the lap top and showed me where I could order one from. I thought that was lovely of her. The cafe itself is quite cramped, you have to wait to be seated meaning you have to awkwardly stand in the middle of the cafe to wait for a table. Lots of tables in a small space. Whilst sitting and eating, I was asked to move out of the way so the waiter could get past. Why set tables and seats up to the point that the waiters/waitresses can’t even get past. Having multiple customers (including us) with dogs in such a cramped set up at times was a bit stressful as we were constantly checking to make sure she was okay and wasn’t going to be stood on. The food itself was nice and tasty. We got a doggy breakfast too which was great, a dog bowl full of bacon, sausage and black pudding. She loved it. Upon paying for our food, we were overcharged. Our bill came to approx £35. I believe the manager took our payment, and after I tapped my contactless card to the chip and pin machine I realised it said £62! Of course we knew this was not right, and the manager admitted to thinking the balance was not right. The refund for the difference was then processed to us. They did rectify the situation, however if we hadn’t of noticed would they have said anything? Most likely not. Overall nice food, that’s about it. Would I go back, probably not as there are better places to go for breakfast/brunch. The 3 stars are for our food, location and doggy breakfast.

Well what can I say certainly not dog friendly or friendly for that matter. Very frosty rude and uncomfortable . The so called manger requires some customer service training and people management skills as he has to be one of the rudest awful people I have met. Super aggressive , unfriendly and quite frankly rude in general. He certainly does not like dogs Had a problem with us as soon as we arrived with the rude staring , my friend went to sit down then was spoke to rudely advising she needs to wait to be seated although the table was free and no one waiting. I went to order drinks not realising it’s table service as wasn’t informed again rudely told to sit down and they will come to me. The dog squeaked his ball once whist our order was being taken this lead to the so called manger rolling his eyes becoming super agitated and said he better not be doing that the whole time he’s in here ? We were going to take his ball off him but regardless a ball squeak isn’t breaking the law. Don’t have dogs in your cafe if you don’t like them ? Not dog friendly or people friendly for that matter the worst customer experience I have had! What a awful experience avoid like the plague … we felt so disgusted we left I did ask who the manager was and of course it was him , another table commented on how rude he was and his behaviour, I have also seen other reviews regarding these issues. I have seen he likes to blame customers but think he needs to take a good look at himself and realise you can’t speak to people or treat them the way he does. I did advise he was rude and asked to speak to a manger unfortunately he apparently was the manger who then decided to continue to be rude and disgusting. What an awful man and awful place Avoid … don’t take your dogs … kids … or if you actually want to chat without feeling unwelcome go across the road coffee is great staff are amazing. Shame on you !

This was the only cafe I would have gone to. Couldn’t fault it. It’s too expensive now, Too busy. I don’t like the two men who seem to run it, the young girls were great. Sigh.

Great little find today , Scott the maitre d / host was so welcoming. It is a small Venue so tables are tight and a wait is possible but we did not have to wait more then a few minutes. There is a sign on the entrance wall saying wait to be seated , think that’s easily Missed they may want to look at a Free standing one or some ropes At inner door that forces you to wait and not just walk in. Burger was great not bought in made on site for sure. Very Dog friendly even doggy treats on the menu

I have visited Darcies a number of times now with my Nanna who might I add swears by this place. They always treat her and her friend like royalty and always go the extra mile to make sure they are both happy! All of the food there is home cooked to perfection and tastes amazing. I’ve had the Yorkshire pudding wrap multiple times and it never disappoints potions are huge and good value for money. Lisa and the rest of the staff are lovely! There’s no doubt that she knows exactly what she is doing. I will happily be returning to Darcies and can’t wait to try the chicken nuggets my nanna raves about!

We asked for our fish to be well cooked as if it’s not we have found the batter near the fish to be uncooked, once again the batter was uncooked ( soggy) The chips were lukewarm not a great experience
