My wife and I had a fabulous brunch here during our coast walk from Whitley Bay to Tynemouth. Great coffee, scones and the haggis toastie was simply superb. It's a small place and was busy, but the vibe was buzzy and the service was prompt and very pleasant. The gentleman (possibly owner or manager? ) who greeted us and took our orders was good fun, chatted to us and was very welcoming. We couldn't fault anything.

Nicely Located Cafe just off the Seafront in Cullercoats. Landed early on a Sunday Morning cosy little place. Not the cheapest place for a Breakfast, however the food was quite good, let themselves down with the cheap tomato ketchup, but would return for a coffee.

Absolutely terrible experience. 4 of us went in. Table By window was free but told couldn't use it as keeping in case 5 people came in. So we sat by the door in the draught and one of us was 85. The girl who I first spoke too was awful . If it hadn't been for the fact we were there for my uncles 85th I would have left. Generally today the attitude of staff appalling. Had the plant based breakfast. Replaced tofu with poached egg. When it came egg was not runny at all and the plate of food just barely warm. Again I would have just walked out but because we were here with our uncle I didn't want to cause a scene. Asked lady for a proper poached egg and was told in an awful manner you should have said if you wanted it runny! Poached eggs should be runny. 2 people had the fry ups they were happy but both plant plates barely warm and lacked a lot. Even got scowled at asking for some butter. Will never go back there felt unwelcome as soon as we stepped through the door.

Sinking Standards (although now under better management). I'm teetering between 3-4 stars. 3 would be a tad harsh, in my opinion. There are some options for vegans; there is not as much as there used to be. There is even less of it than there used to be. Portion sizes have slimmed down - although the price hasn't. The brought-in cakes & bakes are a better bet. Go for the coffee. Their coffee is brilliant. Boatyard usually use an East African blend from Baristocracy - which is milder & fruitier than than most. They favour flavourful notes over the stronger & bitterer beans of companies like Tynemouth Coffee. Boatyard's Ethiopian/Rwandan Blend - with hints of caramel and blueberry - is my favourite coffee. It is reason to return. The venue & 'vibe' is good. The barista staff are nice and friendly. It is a lovely place to enjoy one of the best blends of coffee around. My Labrador loved it here. I still enjoy the coffee. I don't enjoy being charged an extra 40p for vegan milk alternatives - even for a 'babycinno'. It is wrong - but that's an argument for another time. Pros: Great Coffee (Ethiopian/Rwandan), Cosy Café, Friendly Baristas Cons: Underwhelming Food, Extra Expensive For Vegans, Poor Portions

Nothing super special, but a nice warm interior in the winter, friendly staff and tasty coffee. Looked like nice homemade cakes although I didn't have one. Knocked a star off as they took far too long to serve a takeaway coffee, they seem to not have enough space to work efficiently.

Super busy small cafe. Met up with my sister who lives not far and who chose it, so 3 adults, 2 teens, 1 children, 4 dogs ranging from small to very large and hairy. Had to wait a bit but soon got in. Went a bit off menu but no problem. Personally I couldnât get near the table due to too many dogs (ours!) so canât blame them for that. Food took a while but was hot and tasty with good quality ingredients.

This place was real so special. This was my first visit to Cullercoats to see a friend and this place has lots of vegan options. The atmosphere is so bloody cosy. The staff are very sweet and chatty. The main gent who I think is manager/owner was rushed of his feet but still came to have a check on us but we had a good bit of banter and a giggle. The Christmas Vegan Sarnie was super sexy and just what I needed for my arrival from the my long train journey. If there was a real life cafe from a Chrismas movie, this is it.

This was my first visit to The Boatyard. We came here on the 14th December to have lunch on my husbands birthday. We got a table straight away. I ordered parsnip and apple soup and asked if I could have some bread with it. My husband ordered Eggs Florentine which he said was absolutely amazing. We ordered a chocolate and raspberry brownie to share, which was out of this world. My tea arrived in a beautiful cast iron tea pot. I asked the young girl where they got them from. She wasnât sure, but came back over after looking on the lap top and showed me where I could order one from. I thought that was lovely of her. The two young girls were lovely and always had a smile on their face. We will definitely be back. I want to sample everything on the menu, because it all sounded delicious.

The cafe itself is quite cramped, you have to wait to be seated meaning you have to awkwardly stand in the middle of the cafe to wait for a table. Lots of tables in a small space. Whilst sitting and eating, I was asked to move out of the way so the waiter could get past. Why set tables and seats up to the point that the waiters/waitresses canât even get past. Having multiple customers (including us) with dogs in such a cramped set up at times was a bit stressful as we were constantly checking to make sure she was okay and wasnât going to be stood on. The food itself was nice and tasty. We got a doggy breakfast too which was great, a dog bowl full of bacon, sausage and black pudding. She loved it. Upon paying for our food, we were overcharged. Our bill came to approx ÂŁ35. I believe the manager took our payment, and after I tapped my contactless card to the chip and pin machine I realised it said ÂŁ62! Of course we knew this was not right, and the manager admitted to thinking the balance was not right. The refund for the difference was then processed to us. They did rectify the situation, however if we hadnât of noticed would they have said anything? Most likely not. Overall nice food, thatâs about it. Would I go back, probably not as there are better places to go for breakfast/brunch. The 3 stars are for our food, location and doggy breakfast.

Well what can I say certainly not dog friendly or friendly for that matter. Very frosty rude and uncomfortable . The so called manger requires some customer service training and people management skills as he has to be one of the rudest awful people I have met. Super aggressive , unfriendly and quite frankly rude in general. He certainly does not like dogs Had a problem with us as soon as we arrived with the rude staring , my friend went to sit down then was spoke to rudely advising she needs to wait to be seated although the table was free and no one waiting. I went to order drinks not realising itâs table service as wasnât informed again rudely told to sit down and they will come to me. The dog squeaked his ball once whist our order was being taken this lead to the so called manger rolling his eyes becoming super agitated and said he better not be doing that the whole time heâs in here ? We were going to take his ball off him but regardless a ball squeak isnât breaking the law. Donât have dogs in your cafe if you donât like them ? Not dog friendly or people friendly for that matter the worst customer experience I have had! What a awful experience avoid like the plague ⊠we felt so disgusted we left I did ask who the manager was and of course it was him , another table commented on how rude he was and his behaviour, I have also seen other reviews regarding these issues. I have seen he likes to blame customers but think he needs to take a good look at himself and realise you canât speak to people or treat them the way he does. I did advise he was rude and asked to speak to a manger unfortunately he apparently was the manger who then decided to continue to be rude and disgusting. What an awful man and awful place Avoid ⊠donât take your dogs ⊠kids ⊠or if you actually want to chat without feeling unwelcome go across the road coffee is great staff are amazing. Shame on you !
