Brilliant and lovely pub. Super caring ladies serving us.

Friendly welcome, great home made food, traditional style pub with food. Having hearing aids the noise of lots of other people makes hearing difficult (it was busy today), but there's enough soft furnishing to help, and no music playing. Thanks.

The Sunday lunch was lovely .my husband and I ordered the smaller size and found that it was perfect for us as being older, we don't have a big appetite .

Visited for Sunday lunch and the food was lovely. We also tried the cheesecakes which were delicious.

We came here for a family meal. This was our first time here. We've passed here so many times over the years and thought we must come to try it out and for whatever reason we haven't but today was the day. Upon entering the pub we were greeted by the wonderful smell of Sunday roast dinner. For me, that's a great first impression. Wandering through, it was like being in a Tardis, it's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. The staff are friendly and happy to help especially if you have dietary requirements. There's a good menu with gluten free alternatives as well. I would imagine this will be a busy place at weekends so it is probably advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. All in all, this is a lovely little village pub with a warm welcome to everyone. We'll definitely return again in future.

Very good pub which does meals. Menus changes quite often, but always a good selection. Great friendly staff, and reasonable cost, plus good range of beers. Well worth a try, for good honest fare.

Came here for lunch with my grandad.Lovely atmosphere and staff are very friendly and welcoming. I had mince and dumplings whilst my grandad opted for the chilli which came with chips and rice. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the smaller portions were plenty enough. Couldn’t resist the rhubarb crumble on the desert list which was absolutely Devine. Will definitely be one of our regular lunch days out. Sorry no photos we dug in as soon as they came 😋

Lovely traditional village bar/restaurant, bigger inside than expected, plenty of tables, decent selection of drinks and food on offer, friendly atmosphere and attentive staff well worth a visit.

I have today (27 June) collected an afternoon tea for my wife. She was overwhelmed at the quality and quantity of the items supplied. A generous mix of sandwiches, pie, cakes, fruit & cheese scones, cream and jam, all deliciously fresh and beautifully presented. True value for money

A lovely local pub and it does a very good pint of Guinness! Wonderful food and extremely friendly staff. Much better than the Beacon and Red Lion pubs. The cannon is a little gem, a pub the community of Earsdon, Wellfield, Monkseaton and Shiremoor should support. This is a traditional, genuine local pub and it’s great!

I went for lunch here with a group of 10 people. The service was quick despite the large group and the food was good and filling. The servers were friendly and we had no issues with food or service. There was ample parking on the streets outside the pub.

We have eaten and drank here for a number of years, the staff are great, friendly and attentive. The food is home cooked, always extremely tasty and well presented, they also do small portions which is fab if your not too hungry. The take away service is great, and they they do the best desserts especially the CHEESESCAKES.

The food is outstanding loads to choose from on the menu. Portion size is really good. Came on a rainy day and had mince and dumplings, never able to eat more than one course meal here. Would recommend booking for a Sunday as it can quite busy. I think it would be nice just to have some background music on in the background

It is a traditional pub. The welcome always warm. The food is homemade and an absolutely delicious. We return again and again and have introduced friends and family.

Visited with my wife on Sun 7 April for Sunday Lunch and was overwhelmed with the quality of the main courses and desserts, plus the friendliness and service of all the staff. The roasts were perfect, the mash, roast potatoes and veg all freshly cooked and huge home made Yorkshire puddings. You also have the choice of either regular or small portions. My wife had a small pork and said it was more than ample. A hidden gem in a quaint Northumberland village

We went yesterday for afternoon tea. Both of us were looking forward to it and we were not disappointed. There was a great selection of sandwiches, savouries and sweet treats for us to enjoy. And we did!!! Everything was fantastic and very tasty. I would recommend it anyone. To be honest I have been going to there regularly for breakfast for a few years now but at other times too for lunch or in the evenings. I have never been disappointed. The food has always been great, as have the staff who always make you feel welcome and do a great job. Well worth the visit!

We go to the Cannon regularly for lunch, usually on a Friday, and have never been disappointed! The staff are lovely and attentive, taking orders for drinks and food at the table, there’s a good choice of cask beers and plenty to choose from the menu (which are all home cooked). I particularly like that some dishes are offered as small portions as I have a small appetite. A cosy traditional pub with no TVs, piped music or one armed bandits! Perfect for a quiet pub lunch!

Service is always good staff friendly and helpful. AS have been going here for many years I feel the menu is getting a little tired. Food is always good but a change of menu would be good I guess it is all down to costs and what customers like.

This has become our bolt hole hidden away in the village. Great home cooking always plenty of food. Good range of drinks including pump beers.Lovely staff and great locals which brings great atmosphere. Love it. ❤️

Just had a lovely meal with my god daughter at The Cannon Inn. We had homemade turkey, gammon and leek individual pie with chips and peas & mince and dumplings with a portion of vegetables. Everything was delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

I came here today for lunch with my dad and brother. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. My dad is very deaf and when I mentioned this at the time of booking, the lady I spoke to kindly put us on the quietest table! The food was obviously home made and was very tasty. I overheard other customers saying how nice their meals were too. There were smaller portions available for people with smaller appetites, ideal for kids and the elderly. Prices are very reasonable and there is a fair bit of parking to the front of the pub which is in the pretty village of Earsdon, close to the coast. I will definitely come back here for honest, home cooked pub food (which I think is becoming harder and harder to find these days)

Really a nice place to eat comfortably and well.

We ordered take away Christmas lunches and collected Christmas Eve. The food was amazing! The turkey cooked to perfection and very generous portions. Even a Christmas cracker each, nice touch. Full instruction sheet was suppled, fantastic value.

Excellent service and delicious wholesome Northumbrian home made food. Booked table for 5 at short notice and could not have asked for better lunch. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff and you can get hot drinks as well as the usual alcohol. Small function room available for intimate occasions.

Lacking in atmosphere but mainly because it was a quiet lunch time. Food was good value but I think it was microwave heated!!!

Excellent Sunday dinners vegan and meat and good choice of desserts again vegan and non vegan.

I love this place, Their Sunday dinners (especially the trio) are not to be missed !

Had a lovely afternoon tea. Really great value for money and had a doggy bag to bring cake home. Good selection. Lovely friendly staff. Excellent disabled wc facilities if you have a mobility issue. The Cannon is becoming a regular place to visit 🙂

Heard good things about the carvery so thought I'd try the breakfast it was terrible the sausage was coated in congeled fat and hadn't been heated up all I could taste was lard and along with the over cooked eggs spoilt my experience if you want a decent breakfast give this place a miss I've been to wetherspoons before and it was 100% better than here

Very disappointed in all honesty I'd never go for breakfast again it was of such low quality and not even warm I'd rather make my own

Hidden gem, went there for lunch, the staff were excellent from the minute we arrived, drinks served and looking at the great selection of meals available and as I was unsure what to choose, the waitress helped me along with a few other diners as a lot are regular diners, mince and dumplings were chosen, when the meal arrived, they are very generous portions and excellent quality with a side plate of vegetables, my wife went for a toasted sandwich with salad and homemade chunky chips (her own choice of filling from a good list) and she finished off with summer fruits cheese cake which she said was unbelievable Will definitely go again and so should you

Fantastic full English breakfast again. Delicious bacon, sausage, fried eggs, black pudding, hash brown, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms & toast all hot & cooked to perfection. Priced at £9.95 with unlimited teas & coffees it’s amazing value too. Great service off all the staff. Very welcoming & spoilt our dog with water bowl & doggy treats. We eat here regularly. Everything’s home made. One of my personal favourites is the mince & dumplings. My daughters favourite is their lasagna, my sons favourite is their homemade pies (they’re huge & packed with filling). We can’t resist their desserts. There’s always a wide selection. Their cheesecakes are amazing. Lots of wines, spirits, beers & ciders to choose from along with real ales.

I was in id say a couple of weeks ago. When I overheard a homophobic comment come from an elderly man who I believe was sat at the Bar, Towards Two Men doing nothing but enjoying their Evening! The Man at the bar had told them they needed to be Quiet, despite them hardly making any noise! Then he went onto make a Disgusting comment regarding their Sexuality. Staff did nothing! And the Man was allowed to remain in the Pub!! I managed Pubs for 15 years and a comment such as the one he made would have been Passed straight onto management/Owner but it was not!! We were completely outraged that this can still happen in 2023!! Will never be returning and passing the message onto others !! That it is not a friendly or safe Pub for same sex Couples to attend!! Completely Disgusted.

It has been some time since I last visited. The menu selection is very good, came fresh and hot. The dessert was gorgeous. I'll recommend it to my friends.

My wife and I cant remember the last time that we had a better Sunday Lunch.The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and competitively priced. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will definitely be returning and have recommended family and friends.

Disappointing Sunday lunch. Been before and food nice but the Sunday lunch was not good at all. Ate it as hungry but would not rush back.

Called in for something to eat today, it has been quite a few years since we've eaten there. We had the, deep fried haddock with chips, and the, mince with dumplings with veg., both were excellent, there is a choice of small or large for each meal, a word of warning, the large mince and dumplings are more like a sharing platter so be very very hungry or struggle to finish. Nice staff, homely place in a quiet position.

Nice, friendly local pub with good beers (real ales). Didn't have the food but it looked really good with a fairly extensive menu!

Excellent experience. Seated straight away, order taken for drinks immediately then food order taken on return with the drinks. Food arrived ten minutes later. Sunday roast was really good. Service was first class from the lovely Maddie, who was so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice friendly staff. Good choice on menu and food all home made and delicious, don't know how they cook their chips, but they're exceptional! Our party had corned beef pie, sausage and mash, mince and dumplings and a hot pork stottie with chips, everyone was highly satisfied with their food and we'll definitely be going back soon!

Went there today, 29th May 2022, for Sunday Dinner. Absolutely fantastic. Staff were friendly, service was quick and the food was perfect. Full credit to the chef. It was quite busy when we got there, so if you can, reserve a table. It was certainly worth it though. A+++

Just enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch here. We both had pork which was delicious and accompanied by potatoes and veg which were cooked to perfection and I'm pleased to say not microwaved to death!! All the staff were very friendly and service was spot on. We haven't been here since before covid and it's great to see that this lovely pub has survived.We will look forward to many more visits.

31/03/22 Lunch consisting of fish and chips and goujon and chips. Batter on both meals almost white in colour and fish very wet and bland. Will not be rushing back. .

Mother's day ,,we've just had a lovely visit here for lunch today and it was Delicious ,,the 4 of had clean plates ,

Food lovely. I had to take my friend to the disabled toilet and I couldn't get the wheelchair in. It is far too small. Not a good experience.

Very friendly staff, good food and good drinks, what more do you need. Will definitely be back and would recommend this place to friends.
