Jelly Roll Cafe in Tewkesbury

On street parking reasonably close by, very dogfriendly, with a great and varied menu which suited my vegetarian partner. We both had the all day breakfast, mine meaty and my partner’s veggie, which was not just fantastically cooked in the oven, but very reasonably priced with large portions…we were going to have one of the many lovely specials as a dessert but were simply too full. The decor and theme were interesting, the music was a reasonable volume and entirely to our liking (jazz), and the service was friendly and spot on. I cannot recommend this place too much. Our only disappointment was that we discovered it on the last day of our holiday, if we come back to Tewky, we will definitely return to this wonderful café.

What a lovely independent cafe, with great food, service and wonderful staff. If I lived nearby I’d become one of their many regulars.

A quick visit through Tewkesbury and breakfast at the Jelly Roll Cafe. Super friendly service in a comfy casual setting with light jazz music. We sat in the ground floor area, however upstairs seating is also available. We were impressed with the quality of the 'Full English' - it reminded me of my mom's home cooking. A generous man-size helping. Choice of wholemeal or white bread is offered. At the time of writing this review a full English is £9.50. Black pudding - Hash Browns were extra at 0.50p. I noted that there were many alternative options other than full English depending on one's appetite. The cafe's interior was spotless and the kitchen preparation was located at the rear. This is always a sure sign of sound hygienic practices. Plenty of beverage choice. I further noted the lunch-time options for another visit. Washroom upstairs, if required. Went for a family lunch, delicious and very reasonably priced with friendly service. Been here several times before - always good. Would recommend the Welsh rarebit!

First visit today. I had the cheese ploughman's lunch and it was fantastic. It was prepared by someone who cared about what they were doing. It was delicious and extremely good value. My partner had a sausage and egg sandwich which was also delicious. The tea was perfect as was the service. We will definitely call in again. Highly recommended, thank you. Very poor service horrible rude staff really need to learn some manners what makes it worse is it was the owner being rude

We went for breakfast early on a Friday morning before leaving Tewkesbury. I had the veggie breakfast but was allowed to swap my sausage for bubble and squeak - very good. My husband had the big breakfast with extra bubble and squeak and said it was the nicest breakfast he'd had out in ages! Staff were lovely. Not sure about the music but I guess if you go to a jazz cafe you're gonna get jazz 😆

A lovely cafe, fresh home-made food, brilliant service and great Wi-Fi! Never been to the JellyRoll Cafe before and I will definitely be back. I ordered a hot chocolate - which was a large mug and delicious and then a BLT toasted sandwich with salad. The sandwich was perfect and the salad (unlike many other side salads) was a great size and super tasty. I can in with my laptop to work and straight away I was given the Wi-Fi code and it was super quick / worked perfectly.

we were looking for somewhere to eat so asked a local who recommed this place and it was excellent everybody was so friendly and honest ( i accidently left my camera behind) i went back later and they had seen it and put it somewhere safe, the food was excellent i would even say it was the best cheese and onion ommlette ive had. we went back the day before going home and had the same again and the food was just as good and the lovely lady reconnised us from the previous visit if we are back in this area we would go back here

Wonderful home cooked food with attentive, helpful staff and a chef who's a real treasure. May look a little quaint from the outside but a visit will certainly not disappoint!

Menu was great and varied so it was a struggle to decide what to have. In the end we ordered two "Big Band" full English breakfasts which were massive and cooked perfectly, very generous portions! Coffee cafetiere for two was more than we could manage but tasted lovely. Overall, yummy and great value for money -- if I lived locally, I'd be in here every week!

Had a couple of lunches here, both good, a roasted pepper and tomato soup one day and ploughmans the next one brie and one cheddar, washed down with coffees and a really nice pear juice. Staff were pleasant and friendly, but they did forget us a bit when we were upstairs, and lastly its the "jelly roll" as the owner loves jazz, so expect jazz playing while you eat

I attended today with two friends- lovely atmosphere met by member of staff who was very friendly- we each had sandwiches- they were delicious each served with a salad / coleslaw. They were freshly made from the most delicious granary bread. Worth a visit if your in Tewkesbury

What an absolutely wonderful place. Our newly found go to for breakfast and lunch when in town. The food is amazing, as is the service. Great selection of food, all cooked and served with love and passion......this clearly shows. WOW - who thought an omelette could look and taste soooooo good, as with the eggs benedict :) 5 ***** goes out to you all. Looking forward to our next visit.

It's a Jazz breakfast cafe. You order Jazz from the helpful staff. It's about the same price as you might pay for a regular breakfast. The jazz is delivered through the cafe speakers & in no time at all it arrives, accompanied by, goodness, a free breakfast. It was very good. My partner had an omelette which she said was the best ever. She would say that though, because she asked for, & got, a big fluffy & well cooked omelette. For my part, I hated it; I like my omelettes on the just cooked side of slimy. Coffee was good too, service, good, decor, all present & correct & fit for purpose. It's a Jazz breakfast cafe. It did what it said on the tin.

Am staying at a holiday let just 1 min from this cafe &mhave visited twice - would have been more but all tables full or reserved, obv has a very good reputation. Food, Service etc excellent - eggs Benedict but with mushrooms to die for. Seemingly they have live jazz playing from time to time would love to be around to attend one of those.

We had breakfast, it was very popular with bike riders and had a little music venue upstairs, we enjoyed our food and prices were good.

We were given a warm welcome and were soon seated upstairs. The food was delicious. Between us we sampled the Welsh rarebit, the bubble and squeak and an enormous piece of carrot cake. We all agreed we would definitely return very soon.

Mi amigo y yo pedimos una bolsa de picnic (una muy buena idea para los meses de verano) ya que el clima era encantador y planeamos sentarnos junto al río en Tewkesbury. La comida era deliciosa y casera, recomendaría los rollitos de salchicha y la ensalada de col, pero todo estaba muy sabroso, me gustó el hecho de que prácticamente todo estaba empaquetado con envases reciclables. Solo he dado 4 en lugar de 5 porque era comida para llevar debido al cierre, así que no experimenté el café, pero definitivamente recomendaría la comida a otros y regresaría yo mismo.

Regularmente comemos y tomamos café en Jelly Roll cuando estamos en Tewkesbury. We had a lovely vegetarian breakfast and omelette here. The tea served tasted amazing. The two ladies serving us and preparing our food were lovely and the environment was very friendly and relaxed. I would recommend this place to anyone with young babies, our 9 month old loved it.

We returned to this cafe after having previously had a good meal.The menu is quite varied and a couple of specials are offered,I opted for my usual full English and wifey had a prawn sandwich.Both were excellent quality and of a good size.One little niggle is that my plate was cold which does not help hot food.The two hard working staff needed some help as a few people came in after us an quite rapidly a wait for food developed.This was a shame as the two people were trying hard.Given that the food was so good we will be returning.

My friend and I wanted a reasonably priced lunch before our trip to a nearby Spa. I remembered eating at Jelly Roll a few years ago with my daughter so we headed there and were not disappointed. We were warned there was a 15 minute wait because the cafe was so busy, but our food was worth the wait. Delicious tuna panini with a gorgeous side salad. Would definitely visit again. We were disappointed not to have time to stay for a slice of cake!

My husband and I, both oaps were refused entry. We checked that there were empty tables and room to manoeuvre. There was a handful of customers who had already been served and nobody was waiting. I use an electric wheelchair and my husband advised me that it would be fine. When he turned round the man working there blocked the doorway and said they were very busy and refused to let us enter. In this day and age I am disgusted and would advise staying away from such a disgraceful establishment.

It's been a couple of years since I last reviewed the Jelly Roll. There have been changes - in staffing and the upstairs room has been redecorated for a start - but a lot remains the same, in particular the excellent food and the warm welcome every time we enter.

As a local this is our ‘go to’ place for Full English breakfast, or scrambled eggs. It is just off the High Street in Barton street and is very popular- reservation is a good idea but we are usually lucky and get a table. The food is freshly cooked and so delicious. You sometimes have a short wait but it’s worth it. There is a child friendly area upstairs where there are a few toys, books and colouring books, we have taken our grandchildren a few times and they are always made welcome.

No pensamos en conseguir una mesa, ya que estaba llena en la planta baja, pero nos llevaron arriba y nos sentimos cómodos allí arriba y tuvimos una comida deliciosa y saludable con mucha ensalada. Había juguetes para que jueguen los niños e imágenes y equipos interesantes relacionados con la música alrededor de las paredes. We were struggling to find a tasty vegan snack and as a last resort headed to the Jelly Roll which sounds like a greasy spoon, but we were very impressed with the decor, cleanliness, staff and food. We had the roasted veg and houmous wrap, made fresh and served hot for takeaway and it was delicious and filling.

The first thing that stunned me on sitting down after ordering was the latte. Brilliant! Layers of different coloured coffee and perfect froth. Then came the full English breakfast. It was cooked to perfection with locally sourced products. Add to this charming waitresses. A perfect break.

What a great place. We were a party of 21 under 15 rugby players and 13 adults. Claire and her team put themselves out for us by opening up early on a Sunday morning to cook and deliver a great breakfast whilst on tour in Tewkesbury.
