We have been to Buckland Manor many times over the years. It used to be wonderful, unfortunately not any more. Ludicrously small portions and poor quality food in order to save money. Even the petit fours have been reduced from three to two - what has gone - not the fudge or the jelly but the more expensive chocolate.

There are many hotels both in and around Broadway. I would definitely give Buckland Manor a miss. The food was just very average and very expensive. We had two glasses of white wine and stupidly asked for a recommendation. The waiter gave us his recommendation and we went with that. He did not mention the cost. When we got the bill we were fairly shocked to find that two glasses of 175ml white wine cost £21.50 each plus 10% service charge, £23.65 each glass £47.30 for two glasses of wine. This place is a complete rip off. We were not surprised the place was almost empty. Avoid at all costs. It will certainly cost you! We would never go there again on principle and would not recommend it to anyone else. We will be putting several reviews about this place on social media. Try the Broadway Hotel, the Lygon Arms, the Dormy or the Fish instead. They are all far superior.

Lunch reservation made in December for the 15th January. Received a call a week before to inform me that the restaurant would be closed! Lounge / bar food only to be served! Voiced my annoyance. Arrived as planned: we were the only people dining. Food was nicely presented but average flavour. Chef swore in the public area! Not at all impressed!

A lot of the surrounding areas have much less foot fall as there are less tourists, but the manor house is so inviting and festive this time of year especially with all the open fireplaces. Its always best to book in advance both rooms and tables this is a popular establishment for good reason. Merry xmas. I have had nothing but good dinning at the Manor and the atmosphere is a lot calmer being off the more trodden path. As the summer flowers finish at the end of summer the autumn show of fungi is just starting. And as the Cotswolds have some really old woodlands they also have a very varied display of fungi. This recent deluge of rain hails a good show. Don't leave it too long or the restaurateurs will have beaten you you it and there will be nothing to photograph. We called here for luncheon after a long morning. It was the 3rd day of sunshine in a row so we chose a table on the terrace without shade near enough to the wisteria to catch its scent on the breeze all afternoon. The food was impeccable and the staff were polite, friendly and engaging. We didn't stay overnight so can't comment on the rooms, but the manor house is a well kept example of the local architecture and the decor is well kept. The gardens look amazing especially with all the rain this spring, the gardeners have been very busy. The formal gardens lead upto a nice walk in a natural broadleaf woodland up the hill with some beautiful views of the surrounding area. I highly recommend you visit but book in advance as it is obviously very busy. A nice way to treat yourself

We were very excited to go to this restaurant as part of out stay at Buckland Manor Hotel (separate review for that experience). The ambience is quintessential Cotswolds charm. One is presented with wine lists and menus to peruse and they then take your order in one of the delightful lounges before ushering you into the beautiful dining room. A carpeted, elegant room which allows for a delightfully quiet dining experience - rare these days in many places with hard furnishings, loud (awful) music and raucous clientele. What unfolded however did not meet expectations. The menu was limited, consisting of 4 options for each of the 3 courses on offer. There were 4 of us so we sampled everything on offer. It was all excellent in terms of taste, BUT the food was tepid at best and the portion sizes ludicrously small - especially for the price. I thought perhaps we had ordered from the children’s menu, but these portions would not have been enough food to satisfy even a child. The service was also rather limited. There were only three other tables of guests and the 3 waiters were nowhere to be seen much of the time. This left us to pour our own drinks and at one point having to wait for a waiter to appear so we could get the remaining white wine served - they had not left the bottle near our table for us to help ourselves. The cheese course was supposed to feature 6 cheeses but only 5 were presented as the 6th had run out and no substitute was offered - the price didn’t change despite the depletion. This restaurant and chef may well be dreaming of a Michelin star but they need to meet some standard of excellence in value for money ad well as taste of food. This might be the first time you need to bring a doggy bag of food with you into the restaurant as you will definitely not have food left on your plate to warrant leaving with one.

We have been visiting the restaurant for 10 years or more and in all that time have been very happy with the offering. However, all things must change it seems and a new chef is possibly chasing a Michelin star? Food quality remains excellent (possibly better) but the portion sizes are far too small. Fortunately, we were not staying overnight at the Manor so could raid the fridge on returning home! As it stands the meal was nowhere near value for money. Doubt we will return until the next ‘change’ occurs. Sad as the Cotswold’s needs good quality restaurants, not Michelin star establishments.

Lovely location but when we visited and had a meal we were not so impressed. We visited with friends on a Sunday and I and some of the others choose the beef and the rest chose fish. The fish course was lovely and everyone enjoyed it throughly, however the beef was a different matter. It was so tough I couldn't cut it and niether could anyone else who ordered it in our party. When I alerted a member of staff about this I was offered a sharper knife! I don't feel that this was an appropriate response and it was clearly an issue with other people as well as I noticed several tables sent there beef back to the kitchen. It's a shame as the other meals were lovely but the meal was let down by the beef and the way the staff handled it. For the price of the food they should do alot better.

My friend and visited Buckland manor Hotel for Lunch in November. We had pre- dinner drinks of which the waitress give us one small bowl of crackers not a generous amount at all and very little choice at all. For Lunch no apertizer as the couple on the next table had.The main meal consisted. One small carrot and small pot of mashed potatoes, and the lamb was so thin it was more like a child's portion. My friend didn't like carrots so asked for a replacement vegetable she was presented with a small bowl of uncooked vegetables of which they charged £18 outrages. The dessert was nice but had to ask for more cream. The whole experience was so disappointing and cost £151. I had stayed in this hotel before and the standard was very high. But now standard rating and expensive. The staff needed more training and would look better in smarter clothes. Would not return again.

The staff were incredible and the service was lovely, however for the price the food it was very minimal, especially compared to other restaurants with the same rating. I had salmon and cucumber starter which was very plain and basic, the cod for main was cooked lovely however was very minimal as it came with thin sliced courgette and nothing else. We were disappointed as the food did not match the rosette standard we wanted. We were also disappointed as in our booking we stated it was a birthday but no happy birthday was given to us as we have seen in other reviews. Average for the cost but the staff were absolutely incredible. We won’t return.

We dined here for dinner twice while staying at Buckland Manor, and also had breakfast there both mornings. It was excellent all the way! Friendly professional service in a beautiful manor house room with Michelin star worthy food. The citrus-cured salmon and local tomoto salad were both delicous first courses; one night the saddle of venison was as good as it gets with its unctuous sauce and multi-layered potato accompaniment. I would have had it a second night if it was on the menu! Instead, my wife and I both loved the pesto gnocchi, house-made at a slightly larger size; soft and delectable. Reasonably priced nice wine list; we enjoyed Rhone rouge selections both evenings. Cocktails first in the adjoining drawing room. Full breakfast was included with our room. We loved the delicous scrambled eggs with bacon, local sausage, etc as well as the sourdough bread with nice preserves. What a lovely restaurant! Highly recommend!

Anyway, the portion was huge and I was full quickly, but when I asked for the bill, I was asked if I wanted to take it home, so I was able to pack it up in a box and take it home. When I paid at the reception desk, I asked for a taxi and it arrived in about 10 minutes, which was very helpful.

My father came to this hotel with his first wife, who is lovely, multiple times around 1990-1993. He described it as warm, charming and home-y while still being very luxurious in an English-Country-House style. When I told him I was coming to visit a friend living in Coventry he decided to treat me and her to a night and dinner at Buckland Manor. It was everything and more of what he told me. Even the lowest room category will allow you to live a full English-Country-House experience. The prices are high but so is the level of service and dedication. We are now considering to rent out this property for his 70th birthday and thus I can only recommend it!

We were here for the Champagne afternoon tea. The food was good, but it lacked the sparkle we were hoping for. The staff forgot we had booked the champagne option. When the champagne eventually arrived they poured us all a glass, then forgot about it (left it in a cooler on the other side of the room). We even had to ask for cream to go with our scones... it took about 10 minutes to come out, but then they rushed to each table providing cream, so I assume they'd forgotten cream for all tables.

As a vegetarian only one starter and one main! Crackers and olives served with our drinks. Great start! Extensive wine list and prices to match one small glass of nytimber fizz £14 ridiculous I did enjoy there complementary muse Bouches adapted for me as a veggie! Starter I had the heritage tomatoes v nice but dry a sauce would have helped I did try a little of nubby sauce he had on his salmon starter which was delicious. Main I had another starter which was cauliflower in a purée bit like baby food with chilli quite tasty but requested bread to mop it up! Wasn’t going to waste it, hubby had lamb not much of it And mostly fat and tough hardly any veg. Pre desert was pleasant unexpected and filling Their raspberry soufflé was delicious. So was a expresso martini, BUT AT £230 = 3 starters -one main -one pudding - 3 glasses of wine - one bottle of water - one expresso martini - prob wouldn’t return

Had afternoon tea for 2 and tea and biscuits for one with my parents, very underwhelming awful value for money. The room we were in was drab, no atmosphere with worn uncomfortable chairs - no tablecloths on a coffee table. Tea was weak. Welsh rarebit on cheap soggy bread - tasteless. ‘Sausage roll’ lacked flavour and seasoning. Sandwiches were sparse. Egg mayo, roast beef and mayo and smoked salmon and …mayo. One finger each per person on cheap thick supermarket bread. Fruit scones ok but fruit on outside so burnt -nothing inside, didn’t bother eating the plain ones, cakes- Chou bun and pana cotta was nice, everything else all sugar and no flavour. Worth £38 no!!! Glad I didn’t pay as was a gift. Staff were pleasant but not very attentive. Felt like I was in an empty nursing home.

Went there for an anniversary dinner, and paid about £250 for a simple dinner for 2, with just 1 glass of wine. Superb surroundings and service, but though there were lots of tiny extras to the dinner, the portions were miniscule and left us hungry, and the chef ruins the texture of the root vegetables by pureeing most of them to the point of liquefaction. Conversation over dinner was made difficult by unnecessary and inappropriate piped music.

Buckland Manor, Relais and Chateaux have some work to do. Took our friends to Sunday Lunch not a good experience. Service staff needs serious training: red wine was spilled in a couple of places on the tablecloth and my friend's hand while being served; plates were scraped, silver stacked as were the plates at the table side; the crumbs were cleaned from the table twice by two different people; food spills on the table cloth by one person - we requested a napkin to cover before dessert/pudding; wine, water and food was not served or cleared from the correct side of each person; when questions were asked, we either received no answer or a rude one. Very disappointing.

This is exactly why I travel to England, to feel the loveliness of the architecture, art and service of the country. Champagne and then dinner were exquisite. When looking at the menu, it was not made clear that *each* glass of fizz was provided at £35 extra! I thought this to be a little too excessive as the cost of the one glass of fizz, was the same price as afternoon tea for one person! It was a shame as it left a 'bad taste' in the mouth after such fabulous food and refreshingly good service.

Very disappointing meal. Everything about it was wrong. Canapés were stale tasting and not nice. First courses of meal were tiny, dull and with a flavour that spoke of being a long time frozen. Amuse Bouche challenging, plain nasty, unappealing flavours, main course meagre, frozen tasting, draped with soggy uncuttable pac Choi and a tiny sprig of tooth-squeaking broccoli. My partner had barely any accompanying veg with his meal of lamb, but a plate smeared with some “ goop” as he called it. Flavour unidentifiable. This is a man who loves food and eating and usually finds everything yummy. Chose cheeses for desert as puddings sounded and looked poor. No nice aromas I the room or on the plates. Dead, frozen ingredients, poorly executed meal. The most expensive truly awful meal we have ever had. No mention of origin of ingredients anywhere. Had a bar meal the next day of “ catch of the day” which consisted of musty old tasting ex-frozen fish with rubbery skin, the same as my evening meal the day before. Neither were fresh or original in any way. And a very expensive meal overall yet again. Manifestly had not been “caught” for a very very long time I would hazard a guess. A historical catch no doubt, “the day” being some time long ago.

The hotel was everything we were expecting and much more! The afternoon tea was of a very high quality and very tasty. The room was of a high standard, even though we had chosen a small room. The staff were amazing, helpful and friendly. The service was very high quality, nothing was too much trouble, the attention to detail was second to none. We were made to feel most welcome. We would love to return at some point.

Tucked away right before the main Broadway strip, Buckland is a gorgeous manor. We didn't stay at the manor but went for afternoon tea. The lobby lounge area was very quaint and cozy for tea. We sat on some cushy couches to enjoy. The tea selections were plentiful and several options for the tea food as well. The service was also on point. The food was just ok - one of the finger sandwiches was dry around the edges, so it had clearly been pre-cut and sitting out. The fruit scone was also extremely dry, burnt, crumbled at the touch. Surprising and unfortunate. One of the sweet options on the top rack was stuck to the plate so it exploded as we tried to placate it and we didn't really get to eat it. Also, surprisingly different from all other afternoon tea places, the menu stated an additional tea would be an additional cost. Food was 3 stars at best but the ambiance was key. To note - there was a 10% service charge auto-added to our bill and parking is free.

Regular, local customers who visited New Years Eve @ 4pm ish. No fires lit (cold), waitress sat on bar stool and showed no interest in serving, no champagne (New Year celebration), no burgers, no ribs and told to order food from bar whilst waitress still sat on barstool. Food very mediocre, no break in between course. Always had excellent experience… This was very very poor and underwhelming. Left as soon as we could and will not be returning in a hurry. Where are the two chaps who were managers? They were a credit to you!

Walked in at 4pm on valentines afternoon, we asked for a table for two ( we had traveled long and far) to be told they don't serve until 5.30. Not a problem at all we decided to wait and have a few drinks. Kristie was very welcoming and added our names for a 5.30 table. We sat in front of their beautiful roaring fire and and an hour and half flew by! We were seated at 5.30 precisely - we ordered a few starters and our mains. What can we say? We were blown away and the quality of the food and atmosphere, we done all, we throughly enjoyed our afternoon and evening. What a beautiful little honest pub!!!!! Don't pass it by!
