Great selection of fish and chips with an extensive gluten-free menu. The food was delicious, and they even brought out some scraps, which was a welcome surprise!

Cracking pub with really friendly owners... Best pint of Ruby Hobgoblin I've had in a long while! We will definitely be back on our next holiday!

Update: As of May 2025 the wonderful staff have moved to The Spa Pub on Victoria Road, Scarborough after new owners took over The Cask. Went in for dinner when we were staying at a holiday flat across the road. Very welcoming with good food and service. It's also dog friendly!

Can't comment on the rooms, but we had an amazing Sunday lunch. Beautifully prepared and served, lots of lovely fresh veg. The staff were unobtrusive and efficient. Would go back if we are in the area again. Thank you.

A lovely pub serving a great pint of Staropramen, often our first stop when we visit Whitby. It has a great view of the harbour. Only eaten here once, we had fish and chips they were OK but there are far better places in Whitby to have fish and chips.

NOW CLOSED. Probably due to the idiotic no mobile phones policy. Called at whitby's other sam smiths pub the plough. That looks like it's going the same way. Shame really.

Lovely tea in the Lovely palm court. Excellent service and quiet music. Highly recommended. Also in the men’s room they had books to read! Super.

Walked into the Swan Humanby for Sunday lunch could have either one two or three corses reasonably priced. We Ordered the beef it took an hour to arrive and was cold the parsnips burnt to a cinder, veg cold and gravy well the smallest jug ever, ordered the sticky toffee pudding, never again. Sorry but not good at all it’s a local friendly pub but doesn’t really cater well for food, need more organised staff.

Simply superb. The best fish and chips we have eaten in years. The batter was perfect and the homemade sauces were amazing. This place is a must if visiting Robin Hood’s Bay

We have been coming here for years. Usually very impressed but bread was not fresh today and it spoilt it. What a shame because it was otherwise very nice.

We visited twice during 1 week because it was so nice. 1st visit was lunch - mushroom cheese melt and a bacon sandwich and tea & coffee. The food was gorgeous and not a long wait. 2nd visit was full breakfast (veggie for one) and tea and coffee. Both times the food & drinks were very nice and piping hot. Lots of content in the breakfast and quality ingredients. Set above cooplands, this place is definitely worth a visit.

I had seen recommendations for gluten free, and glad to see a notice in the shop window. The gentleman serving had great knowledge of gluten free and confirmed the separate fryer and gluten free batter. I had a small gluten free fish and chips, and hubby had a normal fishcake, battered sausage and chips. Both meals tasted great, portion size was generous and we both enjoyed our takeaway meal, eating in the sunshine on the pier. The gentleman serving was great, he was all alone and yet had complete control of all the orders he was taking, in an efficient and friendly way. He was a credit to the Quayside. When next in Whitby we would have no hesitation in returning for a great meal and would totally recommend.
