Came for a drink after a muddy walk from our Airbnb, wandered straight into the pub and Sara ( sorry if misspelt) was so lovely and friendly, we ended up staying for hours! All staff were lovely including landlady and a good nice local pub!

Interesting how a 'M'other sees fit to berate a community free event, who irresponsibly stayed in the bar drinking whilst her children, unsupervised, were outside carving pumpkins 🎃 with appropriate carving tools, albeit running wild. When asked by the Landlady to ensure and supervise her children's safety, she saw fit to ignore this request and continued to abided in copious amounts of alcohol and now sees fit to assume, 'nay' deems that the responsibility for her children's safety was that of the pub. This event was not an excuse for her to expect the pub to provide a creche. Observing what was happening outside and the neglect of this woman's (mother's) abandonment of her charges was nye on criminal. I would suggest that the author of the "Whinge" and inaccurate account of her failings, before attacking a goodwill community gesture. Take a long hard look at your intoxicated behaviour, as you lady were / are a parental disgrace.

Used to love this pub & it's food so always looked forward to eating there on our business trips to Scalby. However, has it really gone downhill. Seemed like a completely different pub, quite tatty & a completely different atmosphere. Quite brash unfriendly staff & all a bit erratic with lots of loud rowdy drinkers that you'd expect to find in the centre of Scarborough not a quiet village pub. What a shame but at least there are other places to eat in the village.

We came here with family on an afternoon warm enough to sit outside. It's a very nice pub with great atmosphere in- and outside. The drinks we ordered were good, food was overall good, some dishes better than others. Toilets were clean. I might have given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the group of very young people outdoors becoming louder and louder, with music coming from their mobile phones. It was obvious that the alcohol in the afternoon sun was getting to them, yet staff did nothing about it. It looked like staff knew them but it should still be taken care that the rest of the customers are also being made comfortable and looked after.

Visited the Nags Head on Friday7th May, sitting outdoors. Staff serving drinks were friendly, speedy and very efficient. The atmosphere in and around the pub was welcoming and was refreshing, especially in these difficult times. My friends and I also had burgers from Arthurs, the in house takeaway served from a converted horse box. The food and choice of menu was amazing and went down a treat. The Nags Head is a pub not to be missed and well worth journeying to.

Went in this pub tonight . Terrible so busy people sat close no social distance. Groups of people huddled together like covid dosnt exist . No track trace . Girl who served my gin used her hands to put fruit in my glass obviously didn’t drink . I can’t believe a village pub is letting people behave like they were in that pub it was dirty, tables in back crammed needs reporting . Just letting loads in to get drunk was shocked .

Great little local. Good selection of beers and friendly staff. Open mike on a Thursday... Same group of people every week, (some better than others that's all I'll say) Place stinks off dogs though and they are allowed to jump all over the seats. The smell is overpowering to the non nose blind. The place needs a good clean but I guess you overlook that for a good, busy, old school village pub. Tip.. Try the jalapeño pretzels! Also, a good people watching game is, 'who has money and who's just pretendind', it attracts wannabes because its a monied village (the scruffs are the monied). The pub has two sides. Stone floor side for the young lads and still kinda should be working yellow vest brigade and carpet, (smelly) side for the regulars and old golden handshake brigade.

We visited twice during our stay in Scalby. On first occasion it was for drinks – which was OK. On second occasion it was for the weekly quiz night ( which seems to be popular with locals as it was extremely busy ). On plus side the other customers were friendly. They offer little in the way of food aside from packs of “crisps”. Very little for any customer on a gluten-free diet – no beer or suitable snacks. Then I made the mistake of visiting the toilets - they were appalling. Men had relieved themselves on the floor and to have to stand in that was grim. To think of the customers then trailing this back into the main bar on their footwear – really needs to be addressed.

This was our second visit to the Nags Head on Saturday afternoon. We were visiting for the musical afternoon, but this visit we were disappointed with the musicians, they were taking one corner of the pub and showed no concern for the visiting customers, playing just bits and pieces of tunes, then stopping partway through and discussing it amongst themselves. We had a couple of drinks then left them too it. Beer was good and reasonably priced, and welcoming staff.
