Cheap, clean, beautiful seaside cafe. Nice staff. Get exactly what you pay for, nothing fancy just lovely.

Very friendly staff in a locals style cafe, just off the main seafront - was a random stumble but was glad to find this place as the food was great and the prices were very reasonable

6 of us in our family and a well behaved dog, all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Myself and 2 children are fussy with our food but this place was amazing. Beautiful breakfast, just enough, well presented and tasted lovely. Sea views and very clean. We will definitely be going back on our visits to Scarborough.

We only had a couple of drinks here, but we found the staff to helpful and friendly. One of the staff had to catch up with us in street after we left to return our umbrella's which we were most impressed by.

I had the fish special. Fish was undercooked batter still raw inside and chips were frozen chips. They did manage to serve a decent pot of yorkshire tea. Wish I'd have gone to a proper chippy where they make there own chips. And the toilets were dirty, urine all over the floor.

This place is my go to. I used to always come to this restaurant when I was on vacation I loved the toast's there they were my favourite as a little girl. The staff is absolutely lovely so kind thought full and caring. The painting of Scarborough is stunning and really brings out the beauty of Scarborough. I definitely recommend going and checking out for your self!!! (You won't regret it I assure you!) The place is amazing!😍

Awful just horrible food. Dog meat steak pie thrown onto plate swimming in horrible gravy. Rock hard chips cooked in burnt oil.Rock hard peas. Left it all. My husband had cheapest burger which was under cooked served with a garnish of sad lettuce sweetcorn old grated carrot and slice of orange 🍊 😅😅 appalling

Great little cafe, coffee was really good and food delicious. Very reasonably priced food. Staff were friendly and if they advise you not to sit next to the window because it's hot, heed their advice, we didn't and we had to move after they took our order so confused things, but they brought the food out and straight to us with no issues. Highly reccomend this place and will use again next time I'm visiting Scarbrough.

Swift pleasant service of various well priced range of food and drinks.

Pleasant visit, away from the crowds. Cafe-style lunch. Panini’s, fish and chips, burgers, breakfasts, just up a small hill off the sea front but with a lovely sea view. Quiet, good for couples and families or on your own!

Frozen chips, fish was ok, the large sausage sandwiches were small. Overpriced basic food. When I asked to eat in, apparently that cost more, even though the place was empty. I wont be going again.

Came early and was not disappointed after reading other reviews. Fast food, fast service but left us to eat with no rush. Although this was 10:15 on a cold morning.... so it was fairly quiet.

Not impressed The staff are friendly and polite but the food is poor and the service slow I ordered a cheese and onion toasty and my partner had jacket potato with tuna mayo My toasty was ok not the best but acceptable The tuna mayo on the potato though was inedible As soon as it arrived it just did not look right It had a wet sheen and a slimy texture We never touched it The waitress did offer a refund As there are lots of cafes in Scarborough we will choose a different one next time

Fancying a hot drink and some mid-morning snacks before the amusements opened we called in and were welcomed very warmly. The cafe has a real ‘authentic’ seaside feel and you get the sense that the decor has remained the same for several generations. This is not a criticism as we loved the feel (as did many others it seems) but it might put some off as feeling quite dated. We chose a table with a sea view as the place soon filled up. We had scrambled eggs on toast with a portion of beans, a cheese toasty, and a sausage sandwich with two teas. We were served quickly and the food was good. Reasonable prices overall in todays climate although sausage sandwich a little expensive really. The beans appear to have been slightly over cooked/warmed which was not a massive issue but did mean some had to be left. Overall a good experience and we would definitely go back.

Called in at the Caravel,being our first time in Scarborough, lovely fish and chip special £12.50.Was not disappointed,all piping hot,staff pleasant as were surroundings.If we ever come to Scarborough again,we'll be sure to call in on you.

Stopped here after a walk around Scarborough for 2 drinks 1 latte and 1 hot chocolate with cream. Staff friendly enough. Can't comment on the food although others around us seemed to be served meals extremely quickly. £6.20 for 2 drinks not bad considering location.

Really nice fish and chips. Batter was one of the best. Slightly off the beaten track meant this place was also a bit cheaper and really good value. Most of us had fish and chips (including kids fish & chips) and one had full English breakfast and said it was also really good.

Spotted this nice cafe on a day trip to Scarborough.I was soon made welcome and given a table.I fancied fish and chips ,a must on a trip to the seaside.I ordered the smaller fish,it was still a generous portion,just enough for me.I was soon served with a good sized pot of tea,and the food arrived soon after.They were serving very quickly considering they were busy.I was impressed with the food,it was nice and hot too,I would visit again.It seems a popular place.The toilet facilities were also very good.

My partner and I had breakfast at The Caravel on Sunday 7th Augus!! We ordered our breakfast and the drinks were at our table in a minute, our breakfast arrived 5 minutes later and was really nice with plenty on the plate at a reasonable price too! The toilets were very clean which is important to me and I'd go back there in a flash as the girls were very polite too!! We had a laugh with the girls too as one of them dropped a plate, a little boy wanted to help clear the mess up!! On his way out the boy patted the lady on the back as she was cleaning the mess up!! Bless him!

Visited today. Ordered the Special: ‘fish’ and chips, which was served quickly. I’d hazard a guess that the fish was not fresh, cooked from frozen with a generic mass produced batter. The ‘fish’ was oh so oily, the chips bland and dry, and the scolding hot peas rescued from their 5 minute spell in the microwave, zapping them of everything that makes a pea, a pea. The curry sauce had the consistency of dishwater and the aroma to match. It was such a disappointment, and I left feeling sad. I would have explained these sentiments to the staff, but they didn’t ask. My advice to the cafe is to stop stocking up at Booker, and focus on the fish that is caught on your doorstep instead. Two stars. One for location, the other for the low prices.

My friends and I were in Scarborough and popped into this restaurant to order take out fish and chips. We all said that they were the best we have had in years. Perfectly cooked and the haddock so fresh. Cooked to order. Will definitely visit again when I am next in Scarborough

The staff here are extremely rude I’m surprised they even get any customers the way they speak too and treat them. I would not recommend going here they are plenty other places in Scarborough that are better cheaper and more welcoming.

Great food. Great service. Just off the South Bay but quieter and cheaper than the sea front cafes. Allowed our well behaved Bedlington Terrier in, and he happily sat under the table while we ate.

Thought we would try this restaurant out, Very disappointed, chips not cooked properly, fish in batter was soaked in fat,peas looked liked they'd been re heated, sausage was very greasy.

The cups are "drip dried" but yet they have white crusty and wet stuff. Our 3 fish and chips were wet undercooked and overall bad they somehow took 30 minutes to cook. The cutlery is poorly cleaned and vile. Would never eat here again.

Went in here today wish we hadn't bothered, had fish and chips, fish was soggy and slimy staff stood at the front constantly looking over at us, my wife wasn't even finished her dinner before the plate was whipped out from under her then asked if she had finished, they all looked as if we where in there way, my daughter takes a while to eat as she is 4 and they started cleaning table around us, as a paying customer we felt as if all they wanted is the money, I will never go here again worst fish I have ever had

Came across this place en route to the seafront. Ordered the ploughmans which was plentiful. A slight delay with my boyfriend's order was nicely compensated with free desserts which were tasty. Definitely visit again and try hot food when we're back in Scarborough.

Stopped here off the cuff for some breakfast. So glad we did. Really nice and clean with very freindly and helpful staff. We had a Bacon and Sausage cob and they were both full to the brim. Tea for one was a full pot ( 1pt ) of proper Yorkshire Tea. The Coffee was good too. Prices were reasonable and the service excellent.Cheers. ( pictures are of murals on the walls next door )

Been here today and wish I hadn't stumbled upon this place. Me and my partner had fishcake butty with chips and peas. Not mushy garden peas. The fishcake is actually a very very cheap frozen rissole that tasted nasty. Cheap frozen chips. Not that cheap either on the plus the diet coke helped wash the nasty taste down. Left over half the meal

Had a lovely lunch with the family. My wife had Chilli and the rest of us had Fish. The Fish was lovely and fresh and the chips were the same - definitely not Oven Chips, as per the previous review. My Wife said the Chilli was really good and tasty. Service was good and all in an enjoyable lunch. We would recommend a visit and would go back if we were in the area again.

We went in for fish and chips and were served oven chips and the fish was chewy and not fresh at all. Very disappointing, definitely avoid this place. We were also charged 25p for a box to take some leftover away in, which seems petty, having paid £35 for food for 2 adults and 2 kids.

We called back for tea, having earlier had drinks. The 'special' of fish and chips, peas, bread and butter plus a drink for £9.95 seemed excellent value and we'd seen some food served to others on our first visit. The two adults ordered the 'special', we had 6 year old twins with us who much prefer fish to chips so they just had a 'small fish' each - no drink (as we were about to travel home by coach) or bread and butter with it. We'd noticed that the children's meals were £5.95 so, when the bill arrived and their's were £5.50 each, I questioned it. I was told they weren't served a children's portion, merely a small fish, so we'd been reduced by 45p per meal. The meals were well cooked and tasty, I don't deny that. So as not to be surprised when the bill comes, I urge people to be clear on what size portion they're ordering - £11.00 was a little steep for just two small fish.

Popped in here for fish and chips takeaway. Staff seemed a little grumpy but I put that down to the weather (hot). Then we were told that toilets were for eat in customers only (what the heck?).

Found this lovely little fish cafe by accident hidden up a street. We stopped for a cuppa and cake on the first day then said we would be back the following day to get some takeaway fish n chips. The fish was gorgeous. Just how it should be. The lady who owned the cafe was very pleasant and chatty. She remembered us from the previous and even remembered what we said we were going to come back for. Will definitely go back when we next visit.

Excellent bar, one of the best views around, overlooking the North Landing, very comfortable lounge, pleasant staff, well stocked bar, they also do hot drinks, would be a great place to sit with a drink on really stormy days and watch the weather come in. The pub doesnt do food other than crisps and nuts as there is a cafe next door, but if you want somewhere to site with a drink and enjoy the view would recommend.

Dreadful. Told me that it would be 15 minutes for take away cos they were too busy. Then refused to let me wait the 15 minutes that they said the wait would be! Told me they didn't know any alternative chippies. I walked up the hill 2 minutes and got excellent take out from a much friendlier place.

Popped In to this place today 15th august was greeted by a lovely young lass. She took our order and then the food arrived it was nice and hot and very tasty and the prices are very reasonable will be going back again just a shame it's up a sheep cobble road bit it is Scarborough so can't do nothing about that.

Called into this cafe never been before and we have visited scarbourgh dozens times how we missed it ive no idea but we were very happy and pleased with both service and food young girl serving was very polite and helpful nipping clean toilet facilities were excellent we will certainly visit again on our next visit

Llamado a almorzar el fin de semana pasado y me sorprendió encontrar que no estaba demasiado concurrido. Me imagino que este lugar puede conseguir muy estrecha cuando hay mucha gente. La comida y las bebidas eran de precio razonable y parecía bastante buena calidad. Pagamos alrededor de £19 para las comidas y las bebidas para nosotros tres. El personal era amable y atento y fue agradable ver un caballero (estoy suponiendo que el dueño/gerente? ) hablar con el personal joven con respeto, uno incluso conseguimos un nivel de 5 para hacer un buen trabajo. No es realmente relevante, solo pensé que era un cambio agradable. Los inodoros no eran de lo más moderno, pero estaban impecablemente limpias. Sin duda nos llame de nuevo la próxima vez que estemos en Scarborough.
