A range of good beers accompanied by a decent strolling minstrel.

Was spoken too in the rudest way by a man working there just because we were young ( 20/21 ) and he wanted a different atmosphere as my friend was on his phone while we were waiting for another friend. Would never go again I am from Whitby and lived here since a child and the way I was spoken to fair enough if we were causing trouble being annoying but we were sat talking and I think the reason was as my friend was on his phone . Grow up and get with the times. This was a while ago now but it just came to my mind .

Just had a super weekend in Whitby, and this pub is a must do, it's a lovely clean and welcoming pub. The owner makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. So put this bar on your drinking list you won't be disappointed.

Fantástico pub en Whitby. Nos topamos con esto un sábado por la noche y había música en vivo y el ambiente era brillante. Mandy el anfitrión era tan encantador y acogedor. Sin duda volveremos cuando volvamos a Whitby!

Very friendly barman even offered free dog biscuits to my pooch. Very clean and well kept and the beer was good too

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a pub where I’ve felt so uncomfortable. The landlady is probably the rudest lady I’ve ever met. It’s truly unforgivable for her to shout at my daughters (my daughter is 9) therapy dog because she was barking (barking because I was out of sight, I’d gone to the toilet) . The ‘landlady’ then made offensive and hurtful comments about us to other customers, overheard by me as I left the toilet (not realising I was stood behind her). Even the locals call her the Rottweiler (enough said). This establishment is NOT child friendly, NOT dog friendly and MOST DEFINITELY NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY!!! They couldn’t have done less…! AVOID AT ALL COSTS….!!!!!!

Their food is splendid they really know their staff braised beef with peppercorns. sauce was just beautiful

This has got to be the best pub in Whitby. Andy and Mandy are the perfect hosts, always accommodating and friendly. We have visited for a number of years and we're always made to feel welcome.

The best night out in Whitby. Live music Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Fantastic, friendly landlord, landlady & staff. Nothing is too much trouble including rearranging the whole pub to accommodate a wheelchair.

What a fantastic way to round off our stay in Whitby.. full of the right kind of people up for a night singing and dancing to the best live performance I've seen in years. Thanks Mandy and Andrew, you guys have got the formula.

This is a town pub that provides a perfect service for customers wanting good beer etc in a traditional pub atmosphere. Long may it last .Beers include Black Sheep bitter plus Wainwright on draught. And all the usual lagers and keg beers

We are on holiday in Whitby and on Monday night we were looking for a pub quiz. After some Google searches Elsinore pooped up and we decided to give it a try! It turned out to be a fantastic decision as the pub quiz was great fun and very relaxed, the locals were very welcoming and the staff were brilliant, chatty and also very welcoming!! Also a great pint of Landlord at a great price! This is a proper pub and i would wholeheartedly recommend it to any visitors to Whitby.

What a gem of a find! Our YouTube followers told us to go here and we did last night in our 10 pub crawl! The landlord was amazing and let me go behind to pour a pint for our video! Popped in for cold beer on Fri afternoon. Very friendly bar staff. Great atmosphere, variety of beers available. Excellent pint of Black Sheep bitter.

Stopped for a drink with whilst my partner was shopping up the road the barman was very friendly and chatty and very respectful of my reactive dog, even asking other patrons to maintain space to allow our dog to relax so we can attempt to socialise her. It was quite but the music was good and atmosphere was lovely

A nice enough pub on the main street heading up the hill on the opposite side from the Abbey. It was very full when we called in around 6pm on a Thursday evening, we got some of the last seats. A modern bright interior.

Great evening out at Reggae/Ska tribute act, very busy but we found a couple to share a table with and got talking with other tourists and locals. Friendly banter from behind the bar, good drinks selection. Will definitely visit again.

Fabulous hosts. Bar staff wasn’t bad, even with his bad taste in underwear 😂😂. We went for a besties weekend & ended up going both Saturday & Sunday night. Have to say it was the best pub we went to. We love this pub, it's got a lovely atmosphere and does a great Guinness. Since coming to Whitby this has become our local away from home. Andrew & Mandy the owners & Mark the bartender are welcoming and friendly, with a great sense of humour.

went here twice on our 2 night stay over in whitby it was that good. and the landlord/lady and mark were very welcoming. even the locals shared abit of banter with us to. they had live music playing quite a compilation of songs. they also let dogs in until 8pm. overall very quaint traditional pub. will certainly make a return visit.fabulous.

Nice little pub good ales n cider’s friendly staff

We visited this pub 2 nights why we were staying in Whitby. Amazing atmosphere and the landlord and his wife where so friendly and even bought my husband a drink for his birthday! Entertainment on both nights and great artists both times. Highly recommend a visit and will definitely be back!

We went into the Elsinore on the Friday evening for drinks & to watch the singer who was great, we had such a good night & the bar men were lovely, so we decided to go back the following evening too was so nice that the bar man remembered us & also our order, they had yet another incredible singer on & we had another fantastic night! Would definitely recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We came across this gem as it was adjacent to the hotel we was staying for our minimoon. It was lively and friendly. The entertainment a singer called James Wales was very good his music was eclectic and he played the crowd terrifically. 100% try this bar you won’t be disappointed.

First time in this pub despite frequent trips to Whitby, but it won't be my last. Very welcoming and friendly with a comedian for a landlord 😂. Great banter, good laughs, and a nice pint of San Miguel.

Lovely place for a few cheeky pints of Black sheep, Wainwright gold or TT Landlord. Jenks is a top bartender and will look after you very well. Definitely recommend

Fantastic atmosphere. The only pub in Whitby that has music on Sunday. Staff are welcoming and friendly. The pints are perfect. Easily the best pub in Whitby.

As a holidaymaker from West Brom we popped in for drinks and was invited to join the pub quiz. As there was (only two of us). Pardon the pun our quiz name we joined in. We stayed in Whitby all week and went to this lovely friendly pub a few times. We were celebrating our 44th anniversary and my 67 birthday and had a great night with an amazing singer. Right up our street. The lovely lady of the house gifted us a lovely bottle of Prosecco which was greatly appreciated. The landlord keeps a great pint of John Smiths and was a really nice guy he even got what I was going to order b4 I ordered it which goes down well with any bloke. Keep up the great work you’re doing and can really recommend popping in if you’re visiting Whitby. P.S we didn’t win the quiz but thankfully didn’t come last lol. Thank you Whitby for having a lovely traditional pub 👍🏻.

What a great pub, all the staff were very friendly and professional, I’ve been to Whitby many times but the first time I’d set foot in this little gem , me and three friends had a fantastic night , the entertainment was second to none, will certainly be going back, I’d recommend it to anyone.

Had a hilarious fun evening on Sunday. The singer/guitarist was fantastic, Ill upload his duelling banjos...Mandy and the team were so friendly and up for fun. The bouncer was the best ever.. Would love to come back when next in Whitby...

We have only been in the pub twice. Enjoyed both visits. Thought it was a good place. Have to say though the bloke that was in charge on the first visit was easier to talk and we enjoyed talking to him. The bloke in there last Thursday wasn't as chatty

We only stayed here for 1 drink as we were short on time but we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the live music. The staff were nice and friendly too

Amusing & charming bar staff. The live musician (on Sunday) was absolutely amazing. Pity they have an 8pm curfew for children; we'd have stayed most of the night.

Popped in for a drink on Saturday afternoon. The two barmen were hilarious and we had a right laugh with them. Great selection of drinks and reasonably priced. Some great retro music was also being played whilst we were in there. We will be back for sure. 😬👍

Love this pub - if you want a traditional pub with music in the background and sometimes live music playing, reasonably priced for Whitby and friendly bar staff this is for you. Not much more to say but we come here every time we visit Whitby and would never miss a trip!

We had a 2 night stay on silver Street and this was the nearest pub , we brought my mother in law who is 86 , the landlord and landlady made us so welcome , the staff behind the bar was so friendly and so was the locals, there was an excellent 60s vocalist playing and we all had a great night , the landlady welcomed us back for the next night which again we so enjoyed it was a quiz night we didn't win but received free drinks for coming second from last , two great nights , we thank you so much , see you soon 😀

Really enjoyed the pub and the hospitality we got from the bar persons who served us and on both nights the beer was excellent and obviously take pride in looking after the real ale.

We have just returned from a fab weekend in Whitby .We visit a few times a year . Calling in the Elsinore is a must on every visit. Mandy and Andrew are excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming . Andrew made time and came and had a drink with us . Telling jokes and bad joke Gary firing a few back at him lol . The atmosphere is lovely. Drinks excellent and at a decent price . Lovely pub with a lovely atmosphere, we went in last night for a drink but because they had a fantastic singer on, we ended spending the whole night in there, definitely recommend this bar and we will return the next time we visit Whitby.

BRILLIANT PUB !!!!!! This is by far the best pub in whitby, we go 4 times a year and always have the best time , the best atmosphere and the best staff…. And! They don’t allow dogs after 8 pm , great idea! Poor pooches should not be in a busy loud environment getting stood on …. And not everyone is a dog lover ….so the rule suits i wish more pubs would be take these rules on Entertainment always brilliant, Mandy and Andrew sure do know how to run a pub! A must visit if you haven’t been. Can not wait to return

Visiting Whitby for the night with work friends! Yes, live singer on, but when you are informed that you are being too loud by the landlady, the landlord is beyond a joke. When they start to hover over you and try to make you feel unwelcome is totally un-needed. Absolutely horrid treatment by the fun police! We are fuming that we have been targeted for having a laugh and enjoying ourselves and not bothering anyone else. Perhaps they should have taken into account that the one member of our group is actually deaf and wears hearing aids. Why would they wait until we buy a round of drinks before asking us to leave. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Fun Police Alert!
