Called in without a booking and no problem they got me a table , had a few pints of Caffreys which was very nice and we had the bacon cheese burger, onion rings and lasagna all was delicious and lovely views from the restaurant I was very pleased with this place

Ordered 2 cod & 1 portion of chips as the portion sizes are huge! Definitely worth the money as it’s on pricey size. Had take out and took about 15minutes.

Didn't eat here. But drink options were good. Like the Self Serve bar too, which saves the wait at main bar. Glass balcony was great in the sunshine. Much bigger than you'd expect from the street. Lots of seating, even on a busy day. Will definitely be back!

Visited twice on a very busy bank holiday weekend. The place was full but after finding a seat we ordered drinks and food at the bar and despite it being packed out the food arrived at the table in less than ten minutes. We were very pleased with the quality of food on both occasions and would recommend just because all the staff seemed very well trained in dealing with a very bust restaurant. Also dog friendly in the bar area which was very nice

Great place to chill on the glass balcony with drinks and good food we had the best time here and will return 😋 staff amazing especially the young dude behind the bar with the beard funny and great at his job even when busy well done fella sorry don't have your name

Booked a table and didn’t mind at all paying the £20 deposit.Arrived on time and I was surprised to find it very quiet especially as the sun was blazing!Nice views and Will one of the waiters was helpful but,I wouldn’t recommend this place.Lots of young kids running the show with very little customer service training.If you had asked how our meal was or if we needed anything I would have gladly spoken in person and not popped on here with a poor review. Food plonked down and the waitress ran away with no offer of tartare sauce or ketchup….sorry but,it takes 5 seconds to ask and makes all the difference! Food was average at best…fish and chips should be excellent in this area. Sorry I couldn’t possibly recommend this restaurant other than popping in for a drink possibly but,that’s just my opinion!

We went for dinner here and had a pretty good meal - nothing to write home about but fine. Food orders and drinks are taken at the bar - it's a huge place and was absolutely packed when we went, so must be doing something right. It reminded me of a giant Wetherspoons in many ways. We had scampi and chips and a seafood chowder, both of which were ok.

Lovely place overlooking the harbour also dog friendly. Menu has lots of fish choices but other things too. Kids menu looked great aswell. I had the fish pie was lovely packed full of lovely fresh fish. My friend had the monkfish which she enjoyed . Will be back in October so will definitely revisit

The place was busy as it’s was a Friday night. The table we had was just inside the main window overlooking the harbour, it was sticky from the last occupant. Paid on the APP for food and drinks. The drinks came after about 10 minutes and food about 30. Suggest if you want drinks quicker order at the bar. Food was good, hot any plentiful. My only criticism would be that there were far too many dogs in the place, most well behaved but some (in my view) too big to be in an eatery. Overall decent venue

If I'm being honest, I didn't expect much from this place other than mass catering for hordes of beer monsters. How wrong I was. Clean, bright, spacious with stunning views over Whitby - fantastic verandah!! The food was magnificent in taste and portion. Add a decent selection of drinks and attentive service then the old adage 'don't choose a book by its cover' comes to mind again. Superb experience.👌 UPDATE: Back again - 28.08.24 and The Abbey Wharf is still buzzing. Food was perfect again. Great to see folk out on the balcony overlooking Whitby Harbour.

Excellent meal, we all had the cod and chips and we weren’t disappointed. Dog friendly and plenty of space. Reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

Reasonable priced restaurant for food. Drinks are a little pricey compared to other local bars. The balcony was nice but it was far too windy. The place was packed when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The service was ok. Although they brought our bread and butter out 2 minutes after placing our order and this sat and went dry for 25 mins whilst waiting for the meals to be brought out? Why would you do that lol? Fish mornay and fish pie 10/10. Delicious! Just please bring bread and butter at the same time ha!

Dogs are allowed Two cask ales on tap, probably 3 sometimes. They had space on a busy Friday night All very efficient Not fine dining, but certainly providing a valuable service. Yes we would go back, three kids and a dog, so suited us well. But not a quiet romantic setting.

We went in for lunch on the 21st of August my other half had lasagne and chips I had veggie curry with rice meal was really nice and hot

Ordered Fish and chips ,Scampi and Calamari.Chips and scampi were good.Fish was undercooked and batter was so oily.Calamari was terribly overcooked and batter so oily.Will never go back.

Lovely setting overlooking the harbour . Was pretty much self-service ie ordered at the table via app. No fish platter sharer available so ordered several small platters to share. All came with good portion of salad so the side salad we ordered was probably not necessary. Nice food well cooked and presented. Had iecream and a drink earlier in the day Sat on the balcony overlooking the harbour nice !!!

Great place to eat in whitby. I've only been once myself but we all fully enjoyed our meals and would happily go again. It's big, airy and the service was excellent 👌

A busy, noisy place full of families/kids which is great if that's what you're looking for but not if you're a couple looking for a nice quiet meal out. We both ordered the fish morney, from the specials menu, but were sadly disappointed. There was far too much bread crumbs on the top which soaked up what little sauce there was making it quite stodgy. It tasted fishy but apart from the odd tiny prawn you could not distinguish any type of fish as it had been shredded into tiny pieces, so no nice chunks of fish. The chips were cooked well, but not the best I've had. The restaurant itself is in a good location right on the side of the river, with seating outside on the balcony, if it's sunny. Alas when we went it had been raining so all the chairs were wet through. It's a large, bright open plan type restaurant with alot of seating on 2 levels, you have to climb a short flight of stairs to enter, but there is a chair lift for wheelchair users or those who cannot climb stairs. It's self ordering, so you either order from the bar or download the app. There was also a separate ice cream bar which again you could order from or use the app. I also noticed a self service row of beer pumps, I'm assuming that you enter your card details then it allows you to pour your own, which saves you queuing up at the bar when it's really busy. There were a few hand pump beers on, at thd bar, including Doom Bar as well as the usual lagers/ciders etc. Unfortunately it's not somewhere I would go again, too much like a family pub selling typical underwhelming pub grub.

As always really nice service from the fantastic staff, the food is so good I forgot to take a photo and got straight into it 🙄 I had tiger prawns 🦐 in batter with chips, my partner had chips with muscles in white wine and her daughter had chicken curry, we all really enjoyed the cold drinks and hot food...will try to take photos next time 👍🏼

REALLY wanted to try some genuine Whitby scampi and, having read the reviews, decided this was the place - it wasn't. Its just like a Wetherspoons with a nice balcony and great views. Frozen scampi - just like you get anywhere else. Dissapointed.

Great fish & chips, Over looking the hsrbour.

Although I haven't had food yet here, the food I saw being served looked great. Menu has a fantastic choice. So does the drinks menu. I really enjoyed it here and can't wait to return to try the food. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Dog friendly too. Great place.

We stayed very close to Abbey Wharf, and our teen son said he'd like to eat there as we passed it one day. We ordered using the app, and even though the app said it would be a 30 minute wait, our food arrived in less than 20. The portions were huge and and everyone agreed, very tasty. It wasn't busy when we went in around 4 ish, but it was filling up by the time we were leaving. The prices were very reasonable considering the sizes.

Always have nice food at the abbey wharf but the bar staff were very uncommunicative and lacking in social skills. The table.service was ok but we were left wandering around the restaurant fetching our own cutlery napkins and condiments while our food.was.getting cold outside. Seems to be typical of a.lot.of restaurants these days that were far better being staffed by east Europeans. Hopefully next time it'll be a bit closer to perfect.

Fish done in beef dripping was great! Service could better - we waited a long time for our meal. But food was really nice.

Well I have to say the fish well I couldn't taste it had better cod in Whitby at other places nice place though and like the place but the fish nah won't be back

Exceptionally accommodating restaurant. There is a platform stair lift to take you to the first floor restaurant. The staff were friendly and well trained in the use of the lift, asking all the way if I was comfortable and ready to travel, makes such a change. Upstairs indoors is all flat, the balcony seating involves a couple of steps here and there but the staff are helpful if you need them. The order is placed via an app and was quick service especially as it was a hot July day and they were very busy, they were happy to make changes to the oder to accommodate my eating preferences. We took our small dog and was surprised to see that they had a dog menu too so Dora didn't miss out on her fish and chip dinner. Access to the restaurant is not disabled friendly, eg cobbles and no disabled parking nearby but the staff were fantastic in making our stay trouble free. Easy access Disabled toilet. Fab views over the water.

Had a really lovely lunch at The Abbey Wharf with my wife. Also great to be able to bring along our dog. We found it to be a very relaxing visit, in an open, airy and clean environment. Very welcoming and happy staff. I opted for the fish and chips/mushy peas and the wife Lemon Sole. Both beautifully cooked. If I may say over the water is a famous Whitby fish restaurant - I have been and these fish and chips were just as good.

Eaten here half a dozen times in the last few weeks been excellent then tonight one of my guests had the gammon couldn't cut it with a steak knife took it away by the time the rest of us had finished another one turned up which was fine but no apology such a shame 🙃

Food was excellent! I had the mussels in wine cream sauce and the seafood Mornay (cod, haddock, prawns) - totally tasty. Great variety on the menu. The inside is laid out like a fish market/warehouse - rustic and rough but comfortable. Nice views of the harbor. Added plus of seeing the rowers.

Nothing noteworthy to be honest. It’s OK. But not great. Fish and chips were fine, you can’t mess that up really, but the fish pie was disappointing, loads of cheesy mash and very little fish. Ah well. Will probably never be back.

Very nice place we were treated very. The MonkMonkfish and Lemon Sole were both to a very high standard.

Food is normally good here but our last visit was a bit disappointing!! My meal, a small portion of home made fish cake was nice but my partner who chose chowder didn’t finish it! It was basically a bowl of what tasted like parsley sauce with about 5 small mussels in shells, one small piece of smoked haddock and not a prawn in sight!!! It was exactly the same as the sauce poured over a fish dish we had there previously!! As I say, food is mostly good but avoid the chowder!! The restaurant is lovely, good bar and if you sit on the balcony on a sunny day it’s lovely!

Normal food, but not worth its price. Very nice and large place, but careless, disorganized and rude service. Very short wait but we had to ask 4 different waiters for the sauces before they arrived... and they arrived when we had finished eating...

Dog friendly, with a dog menu which we didn't order anything off. This place has a balcony so you can sit and eat with a view of whitby. You order food and drinks from the bar. But they do have a self service beer pumps. Quality food and not too expensive. They have a smaller menu for the take out option. On a Saturday they have a resident DJ. Great atmosphere the evening we went. Definitely will go back when in whitby. The minted lamb burger was perfection.

Had a lovely meal here. The app for ordering food and drinks is brilliant: once you've found a table you don't have to leave it (though had to leave a cash tip as couldn't seem to do that via the app). Really good food. Only slight criticism was that the table was kinda sticky from the last people and never got cleaned.

Very busy place with some nice views, it's quite large so there is lots of seating. Some seating outside in the sun with great views. We called for drinks a few times and for food on our last night in Whitby. 2 of us had chicken breast burger which was the best Ive had in a long time, it is my go-to food when out. My wife had muscles in white sauce, muscles were nice and large, the sauce was stunning. Good. Service all round, plenty of selection for drinks. Will be going back.

Rump steak cooked to perfection, mushrooms amazing (not normally a mushroom lover) chips and salad lovely we added peppercorn sauce which was so delicious.

We were in Whitby for the day called at the Wharf for lunch . Myself and one other of our party had cod my favourite fish don’t know what it was but it wasn’t cod very grey and wet did not eat it all which was good as I was so ill that evening. Go to Whitby quite often but will not be eating at the Wharf again. Unhappy customer

So we rarely have large family gatherings but 16 of us met up here for lunch. Even though it was extremely busy we enjoyed great fish and chips, served by friendly, professional staff. All our meals were delivered to our table quickly and all together and the fish served was great and cooked fresh. To be honest, never had a bad meal here and this day did not disappoint.

Came 4 weeks ago my parents are still talking about the fantastic service we all received my dad needs a buggy to get round so the staff set a table in the bar as he couldn't get to the resteraunt great service and food will be back next year thanks

Ordered rib eye steak medium - came very well done and almost inedible, skinny fries with almost cold. Spoilt our final evening of an enjoyable few days in Whitby, where we enjoyed other restaurants.

Great day out for northern soul

I didn’t eat at this place, i just had drinks with a friend. We sat outside on the balcony that overlooks the harbour. It was a lovely sunny day and it was beautiful sat outside. We ordered cocktails that are all around £9.95. Our cocktails were lovely and the atmosphere was great. I’d definitely visit again when next in Whitby.

OK,here's the thing about this place.We were on holiday,it was a nice afternoon and we fancied stopping for a beverage.From the outside this place didn't really look that inviting BUT,when we walked up the stairs what a lovely place.Beacuse it was nice we sat outside.What a fantastic view of the harbour we had.We sat for ages enjoying the view.The service was good.Nice place

This is a lovely venue, but we found the quality of the food to be a bit mixed. Firstly, the mussels and fish pie were really good. However, the fish cake was dense and didn’t taste as if there was much fish content. The ciabatta bread didn’t seem to be very fresh either. We were initially given a cheaper bottle of wine than the one we had requested. Fortunately we noticed before the bottle was opened, but it does make you wonder which we would have been charged for if we hadn’t noticed! On the plus side, the waiting staff were friendly, and the kitchen is open for guests to view food prep taking place. Just a bit more attention to detail, and perhaps a review of the fish cake recipe, and I would have given a higher score

Frozen fish, old soggy brown chips, miserable staff, avoid. Astonishingly bad for Whitby. Chose somewhere else.

The food was fab although we had to send our Carling lager back and swap it as it didnt taste right. The service was great, and very quick, polite and efficient and the atmosphere was very chilled as the bridge was broken and there wasnt many people on that side of the bridge. Really enjoyed it.

Well it's an entertaining watch. Service was a bit slow, but it was a very busy Saturday afternoon in late June. Bouncers were a bit overzealous and aggressive. On the fence.

Takeout so can't say anything about vibe. Can confirm greasiest and most tasteless takeout (or eat-in for that matter) fish and chips I have ever come across. £11.20 for a takeout so overpriced too.

Regularly stop here. Only complaint would be the food being overly oily.

We literally stumbled onto this place trying to find food on holiday! The first meal I had was the seafood chowder which was lush! The atmosphere is so chilled and the staff are really friendly! We enjoyed it so much we went back the next night and had something different! I had the seafood linguine and again - lush! We ordered our food and drink after downloading the app, both times we had our drink delivered to our table within minutes of placing the order and both time food was delivered to our table within 15 minutes max. Brilliant, relaxing place with good food and service!

Very busy place but ordered from table and service was very quick , nice food too!!

We called in as this venue was recommended to us, however never stopped for food,as we were confronted by a row and raised voices, an argument which security dismissed the party, the outside was extremely busy however there is no excuse to stand on edge of doorway to vape so that smoke enters the restaurant, therefore we left unimpressed and disappointed
