Had a family holiday at primrose. Popped in for an evening meal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Pub and play room clean and tidy. The meal was fantastic, home cooked and tasty. Will go again

2nd visit whilst staying at Reighton Sands once again did not disappoint meals were fab as usual & reasonably priced, staff are lovely & friendly whilst were deciding on a desert I jokingly said I'd like sticky toffee pudding with lashings of custard the staff duely obliged & fetched out two extra jugs of custard. If your wanting home cooked food at a good price look no further than The Royal Oak we will definitely return.

Bang average food, nothing really to complain about but wouldn't return.

If you're stopping at a local site and want to eat out, this is the place. We had a booking of 24 people, all the food came out at the same time, the food was great, reasonably priced and plenty to choose from. Thank you.

We have a family get together every year for 40+ people and after difficulties with a previous restaurant, we needed to find somewhere else to go. The royal oak were very accommodating, really easy to book and the staff were very good. Plenty of space in the function room, separated into round tables making it easy for us to chat but also easy for us to order and pay table by table. There was a dish to suit everybody, the food all arrived in great timing and was very tasty. We'll be back again next year!

Great little pub, serving some great pub classics done well.

I can't comment on the rooms as we just called in for food, We were greeted by friendly staff, the pub had a nice atmosphere. I'd previously googled the menu and went for their 'famous" steak and ale pie, it was absolutely delicious, filled to the brim with lovely chunks of steak and a good gravy, it was served with garden peas and home cooked chips, always a win, it did not disappoint, the rest of our party had Gammon, eggs and chips, southern fried chicken burger and chips, all delicious too. We will definitely return if holidaying in the area again 😀

1st time been in,so ok it's literally down the main scarboro road opposite side to primrose valley hidden on a back country road,its visible if you look out for it but its there lively surroundings nice staff n very cosy,,lovely pint me n my mate had,will defo go in again

paid for large carvery and veg carvery given 2 tokens as we had our dog went separately asked chef serving which token was for veg carvery snapped back at me white grabbing it from me not good customer service then said Yorkshire and stuffing i asked for no stuffing could I have 2 Yorkshire puddings shouted at me no only 1 look at sign noticed the small chef was very abrupt while serving a shame as carvery was very good and all other staff where very friendly so if you are going for the carvery please ask while purchasing different meals have the right token .

Really good homemade food, even though we arrived too late for the Sunday dinner (served before 3pm) we still had a good choice of which there was plenty of homemade options. The pie went down a treat with the meat melting in your mouth. family members on the table also had meals and they all agreed the quality was excellent

Sorry for late review. But this pub is great good food reasonably priced good atmosphere and great staff. All in all a lovely pub. Am returning in October meeting friends I live approx 40 miles away. Anne walker

Came here for carvery today 25/8 in our party there was 12 of us and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed it! Staff were friendly and helpful! Will definitely visit again! No negatives from us 😊

We visited the Royal oak while staying at primrose valley near by. This place had been recommended to us and I'm so pleased we visited. I had the steak and ale pie which was huge and very tasty, my husband had the crispy chilli beef which he enjoyed, my daughter had the chicken tikka masala which she said was lovely and full of chicken, my son in law had the mix grill which didn't disappoint, my other daughter has spaghetti bolognaise which she said was delicious. The grandkids enjoyed their kids meals too, it all arrived piping hot, the service was quick even though they were busy and the staff were lovely. The puddings were all homemade and delicious. I can highly recommend the apple crumble. All their portions are huge and you definitely get value for money and go away with a full belly, It was that good we went back 2 days later. We tried the fish and chips that time and it was beautiful and cooked to perfection. We will definitely return here when in the area. Highly recommend the Royal oak

Absolutely terrible. The food was poor the mixed grill £23 for very low standard meats the cheese burger was burnt & the bread bun was hard. Chicken tikka masala cold and the chips were cooked in old fat. The hygiene of the pub is absolutely disgusting the knifes and forks were dirty the high chairs, menus & tables were all sticky full of dirt.

Called in at this pub for tea after a family day out, chose one of the specials and the food was 10/10! Great portion sizes and really nice, staff were nice and friendly and we wouldn’t hesitate to call in again on our travels

We had Sunday lunch from the carvery here, the food was delicious, lots of it and cooked perfectly. 3 meat options and all were juicy and very very tasty. Veg was excellent with a choice from 7 and a cauliflower/broccoli cheese mix which was superb with proper thick tasty gravy. Two kids rated the food 9/10 and both adults 10/10. The pub was very busy but the service was so good the queues moved along quite fast, staff were very friendly and helpful. Good ambience about the place and for the price we paid we felt it was fantastic value for money and definitely go again. Well done The Royal Oak, made 4 people very happy.

Been a great meal here. Went for Sunday carvery whilst staying at Haven. Amazing place. Recommend for anybody to try when down in the area. Meat was just spot on. Plenty Veg etc all kept fresh and replaced not just topped up. If I had a complaint they don't have a larger meat option. Just looks like a normal quaint little English pub, but the food has been far better than I expected.

Prawn salad, little too much lettuce BUT massive amount of prawns and other salad items My husband said 1st class meat pie...loads of very tender meat

Staying at Primrose Valley we decided to take a chance on this pub. Glad we did the food was delicious, piping hot, really tasty and served within an acceptable time. The whole pub has a friendly atmosphere. Defo going again and would highly recommend.

Came for tea from the nearby Haven, a million times better than anything on site and cheaper too! The soft play was a good laugh for the kids and the food was excellent pub fare, really tasty and super quick service.

Turned up on Sunday for the carvery as we were staying close by in our caravan. When we arrived there was a huge queue waiting for it to open. We almost left to find another place to eat. I'm very glad we didn't. This was the best carvery I have ever had!!!! Friendly staff, great owner. It was Wembley play off day for Leeds Leeds Leeds!!! So it was nice to see the staff wearing the shirts.

Been here twice when in Filey. Food is great large portions at reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly too. Well worth a visit.

Spent time in the soft play followed by a delicious carvery and a wonderful lemon cheesecake and the donuts with chocolate sauce for my little one and of course a little more soft play afterwards for my 5 year old. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was fantastic. We are visiting again this weekend. We also really enjoy visiting as it has a lift which my mother needs as she struggles with her mobility.

Stopped at Primrose Valley. Nice walk(unless you have a heavy wheelchair) just had to cross the main road. Food and service was good. The only problem is the EARLY closing, but we knew! Worth a repeat.

After a long drive to Filey it was great to be able to enjoy a lovely meal in a quality pub, price/service and atmosphere were all brilliant.

Went and they were shutting at 8.30 for a family event which is fine. However, there were no notes on the doors to state this. Little bit daft really and other customers were sat not from the party having a drink. Odd if you ask em 🤣 Oh it was Friday evening. We wanted a drink not food. It was 8.30

Had a lovely meal here dog friendly too, which makes a difference as most of Fileys pubs won't allow dogs. Staff friendly. Stop taking food orders about 8.15pm.

Ate here Easter Saturday ,the chap cudnt do enough for us .Found us a table quickly even though the pub was very busy .The food was very good & reasonable prices .The steak &ale pie was delicious & homemade .Next time im in Filey i will be coming for lunch .Excellent !!

Visited The Royal Oak on Mother's Day and was informed that it didn't take bookings.When we arrived around 13.45 we noticed the carpark was rammed and wondered if we could get a table for 6 and a high chair.Well could not have been more wrong. Landlord informed us that they had plenty of room at the back and we got a table easily enough. The Carvery was superb for the money and fantastic quality.I had the beef and it was gorgeous.All I can say is,Great pub,Great food and the queue for the Carvery seems to be well managed and fresh Meat and vegetables coming out when needed.Will definitely return.

Visited Filey and decided to go to the Royal Oak with the family for Sunday dinner. We were really impressed with the Carvery.For the money it was very,very good. Could not fault really.

Went in for a meal. I ordered fish and chips and my partner had the scampi. Food was out on the table within 10 mins of ordering and was really good.

We visited the area and went to the Royal Oak on Friday night for tea and Sunday for dinner . The food and drink was loverly . A friendly warm and inviting pub . We will be back next year to the area and definitely will be back to this pub .

Very accommodating. Dog friendly section and no dog section of the pub. Food was a little pricey but tasted great! Plus they let us stay in the carpark in our motor home for free! Carpark is locked 8pm-8am giving a safe feeling.

We visited the Royal Oak two days in a row for evening meal because the food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced too! We definitely didn’t leave still hungry. Staff very friendly. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

Family friendly and welcoming pub with a large car park at the back and safe childrens play area. Service is quick and food fantastic and freshly prepared with plenty of choices. Good value meals. Kitchen open all day. Clean and tidy place which was comfortable, warm and cozy. In the bar the log burner was lit. Dog friendly area but also there's an area to sit and eat in without dogs if you prefer. Was the best eating place we found in Filey during our weeks stay in the area.

Great pub food with a lovely atmosphere and very pleasant staff. The homemade pie in particular was absolutely delicious and very filling. We will definitely be returning.

Excellent pub and very good carvery. Was very busy by the time we left. Luckily we went early doors. Friendly staff, nice decor, good food at a fair price.

This was a hub of activity, it was full of people dining & enjoying the atmosphere. I cannot comment on the food or dining experience as we only had a drink, myself, my partner & our pooch, Mabel. What I can say is that we were welcome despite us taking up a table whilst only having drinks. I witnessed a lot of happy diners

The roast was lovely, gravy amazing, only down sides were that there was not much vegetable selection and it was very busy with a very long wait in a queue to get served

Our son and family had been before but this was the first time we had been together. Food was lovely and plentiful and the staff friendly and helpful. Am sure we will be back!

Food was tasteless and staff are very rude will not return again there excuse was it’s nott everyone taste but three meals were all horrible Tables dirty menus sticky And toilet are scruffy

Love it, so pleased! We came years ago and it was owned by someone else and not good at all. So glad this family now have it, we are locals and have always struggled to find somewhere that can accommodate me and my mum friends with our bunch of 7 children! We need a play area and a good choice of food, never seen our kids all eat at the table so well toghether and they were impressed with the play area, all needs catered for from 3 year old to 12 year olds! We all really enjoyed the food and they loved the apple juice! All fresh and super tasty. Good Vege choice too, Then there's the upstairs play area if it rains. It will be our place to go altogether, lovely thankyou!

I’m a very fussy going out for a Sunday lunch, we stumbled upon the oak by complete accident. The weather was appalling the car park was full usually a good sign. I parked up while my partner found us a table. Only Sunday Carvery was been served until 3 so we opted for that. The Q for the carvery meandered around the restaurant. Beef, gammon, and turkey on offer an abundance of fresh veg all piping hot. Got talking to a very busy I’m guessing licensee who said they do around 900 carveries on a Sunday, I can see why it was absolutely delightful thank you..

Went for the Sunday carvery, as saw great local reviews. We walked up from the Bay, which took about 30 mins, and was easy enough, driving is simple too with a big car park. You want to arrive early as there was a good long queue to get in, to get to the till and then to get the carvery - but that’s all just because it is so popular because it is so good. Food was excellent, staff were nice and friendly. Definitely recommend it.

Been here in 2023 and been again this week, food is great! Fresh and tasty with a good menu with lots of choice and great prices. Amazing Steak pie! Good children’s park outside as well.

Visited this establishment on two occasions during our family holiday in Filey. Both occasions saw us ordering from the main pub menu, very generous portions and good quality home-cooked food. We will definitely return if we’re in the area in future.

Had Sunday Carvery on 9th July. Fantastic food, excellent staff. They never stopped working. Anyone staying bettween Scarborough and Bridlington must give it a visit.

Good for basic pub grub. Visited as a family and had the usual pub food, loaded burger, chilli, curry, kids chicken nuggets etc The curry/sauce tasted exactly like the one I would use from a jar at home if I was doing a quick curry....

Food was ok but spoiled by fact we were pestered to death by flies in dining room.Also next to table was a fly paper which was offputting whilst eating.Also fixed seating area near roadside window was badly stained and should be cleaned.
