Nos recibieron en la puerta y nos explicaron cómo pedir y nos mostraron los especiales, etc. Encuentra una mesa y ordena en el mostrador. El restaurante está diseñado como una cantina tradicional de estilo antiguo. Hay un montón para elegir en el menú y la comida es increíble. The food is lovely; fresh cooked to order. I had the Lite Bite option with extra peas which was very filling and tasty. I visited Scarborough on Easter Sunday so expected it to be busy but it was very quiet in Wackers. Edit: Visited again, today, 2nd October and had another delicious meal-this time I remembered to take a photo😹 If you like tartare sauce you’ll love Wacker’s version; homemade, light, zingy and delicious! Highly recommended! Edit: October 2024 I popped in for lunch today, ordering the Senior Special which consisted of fruit juice, small haddock and chips, bread and butter and a pot of tea: delicious!

Pescado y papas fritas de excelente calidad, encantador rebozado crujiente con copos perfectamente cocidos de pescado sin piel, las papas fritas son como deben cocinarse, en goteo de carne de res. Los guisantes eran encantadores también. Personal amable, servicial y atento oh y una excelente cerveza! Vale la pena visitarlo x

He estado aquí un par de veces y siempre de buena calidad! un lugar bastante ocupado, pero un montón de asientos, mi familia por lo general tienen el pescado especial y tengo huevo con patatas fritas como no comer pescado. El personal aquí es siempre tan agradable y amable, nada demasiado problema, en general, gran personal, buena posición central, gran comida y precio razonable! Muy recomendable

Este lugar es sin duda el mejor restaurante de pescado con papas fritas que he comido en mi vida. El servicio fue sencillo. El personal era muy profesional y trabajador y la comida era increíble. Nos sentamos en el restaurante que es dog friendly, así que otro bono masivo para nosotros. Los dos pedimos patatas fritas de eglefino y guisantes. La masa del pescado era ligera, esponjosa y no grasosa en absoluto. La salsa tártara y una rodaja de limón estaba incluido en el precio. También había condimentos sobre la mesa. El restaurante estaba muy limpio y ordenado. Definitivamente volveré a visitar cuando vuelva sobre el noreste

Wife & i just had fish chips & pot of tea Bread and butter . Just Brilliant .. we not being to wackers for few years to be honest .. So today we made a point of Visiting while in Scarborough & Boy what a transformation .. The new owners have done a fantastic job of transforming the place ( pardon the pun ) from the alterations to the food the seating the Friendly staff .. the whole ambiance is so inviting & airy ,we cant wait to be back . The Fresh white fish was honestly the best we have had . the chips so clean & yummy even the bread was thicker than normal & more tea than can drink .. i can say without doubt this fish shop / restaurant will do very well i am sure . the prices are very reasonable & we still would not moan if they put prices up ,as the whole experience is worth every penny & more .. we come from Brid & well worth the trip even if not shopping give it a try you wont be disappointed .. we will be back,,, Thanks to all involved in running this place .. .. Keep up the good work .. Had fish chips pot tea again in 2024 and despite price hike, still a nice treat if passing . just one small grip chips are bit scrappy at times . good point kids eat free .. check site for details as my not still apply ..

Excellent food and service always enjoy going there

Excellent food proper plates full of homemade chips and freshly battered haddock (order a medium) looked like a large it was gorgeous best tasting haddock I've ever had and my daughter tried their foot long battered sausage her first time having one she absolutely loved it I couldn't believe she ate the whole thing it was near enough same size as her arm. Manager & staff are 100% friendly and very helpful their desserts looked amazing we was gonna order but unfortunately was far too full after our meals. We'll definitely be back 5*****+ stars

Popped in here for a couple of haddock and chips … The fish was very nice maybe could have done with a few more chips but can’t really fault it

Huge battered fish fillet (large portion) mushy peas are fab healthier options available (low salt, steamed fish) comfy diner setting and top class value

We arrived just after 4pm, my husband sat down and I went to place our order. My husband was asked to move as half of the seating area was being closed, but the restaurant closed at 5pm. When our meal arrived, we were told that we were both given scrappy chips but they were going to bring out another plate of chips once cooked. We declined the extra chips as they didn’t arrive with our meal. The fish was good, but shame a bout the service. We will not be returning as we didn’t get what we’d paid for and were disappointed.

Very, very tasty haddock and chips. Busy place, which speaks to the quality, but very large, so plenty of tables. Dog friendly. Good staff. One issue, it's very muggy and hot in there! A few ceiling fans wouldn't go amiss

Finally found a proper fish and chip restaurant that offered all we wanted. Dad had a pensioners special that had fish chips peas bread and butter, cold drink and hot drink of tea or coffee in price, absolute bargain. I had scampi asked lightly battered not breaded and they happily did that, chips peas tartare sauce wedge of lemon, son had cod chips mushy peas and gravy with a glass of coke. We had sponge and custard for afterwards. All was made to order and arrived after a short wait. Order system is find table look at menu and then order at till which was actually easier than waiting for table service. Food was brought to table and staff very attentive. Plenty seating and disabled access and adapted tables. Meal was under £50 for 3 mains, accomplishments, 3 puddings and 2 rounds of drinks. Situated in centre of town

Excellent service and great quality food. Fish was fresh, succulent and tasty. Chips well cooked. Had a take away to eat in nearby apartment and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly, efficient staff. Ketchup provided in separate pot and as much tartare sauce as we required. Been previously to the restaurant and would highly recommend both to visitors.

Incredible food, really tasty batter and perfect gravy

Ate here twice over the course of a week’s holiday. We have 2 children who are both coeliac and they had great gluten free options available in both adult and child size portions. Even the battered sausages were gluten free which isn’t the case in many fish and chip shops. Would highly recommend.

Turned up at 5.40pm in August and it's supposed to be opwn until 6pm but was already shut

I went to Scarborough for a day out and discovered Whackers and they do gluten free fish and chips. Is all I can say is Wow! They were amazing, absolutely delicious. The staff were so helpful and friendly lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, I would highly recommend Whackers and would definitely be visiting again next time I'm in Scarborough 10/10

The best fish and chips in Scarborough and good value for money. The manager and staff are really welcoming, and the restaurant is dog friendly with a treat and water for furry pals ! There are many different specials and deals to suit all appetites and budgets We have been visiting for years and will continue to do so in the future. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Fish and Chips !!

Tasty fish and chips, I had cod and chips today. Very clean and comfortable. I love the Apple Pies with the ice cream too, really refreshing in the hot summer midday.

Not bad but not brilliant. My plaice was a tad sloppy, and the chips were quite sad. Either the oil needs changing or they are using potatoes with too much sugar in them. Paid 70p for two slices of bread then to find a member of staff in the shop next door buying their basic loaves for 86p for a full loaf. Advertised lemon and tartar sauce comes with each meal; it didn’t. Had to ask, then it was cheap tasting sauce. Didn’t like the fact the door to the loos was open, keeping it closed would be better. All in all, not bad but probably won’t return. I think this place is charging restaurant prices for cafe food and I think that is what I’m comparing my visit against. Maybe if it would have been a little cheaper, then my opinion would be slightly different. I would give the takeaway a go though before not visiting the establishment again.Thank you anyway for your kind and pleasant customer service.

I chose to have the daily special, which included Fish, chips, a slice of bread, and a drink for £12.95. Additionally, I requested mushy peas which was an extra £1.60. The food was nice , and would go back again. The young server who did the drinks was friendly, as was the gentleman who was ensuring everything was satisfactory. However, the lady who took my order could have been more pleasant; she seemed rather unfriendly.

Best fish chip well worth money

Today was the first time I’ve ever been to Wackers.. let me tell you how it went.. Walking through the door we were greeted by the manager with a kind smile and a “welcome”. Soft pleasant music plays in the background giving a relaxing atmosphere The seating reminds me of a green version of an American diner.. but they give plenty of space to comfortably fit 4 around a table. There’s a menu on the table which is clear and nicely put together.. very professional looking. Once we decided what we wanted to order, you pop to the till. You immediately collect your drinks on a tray, then take your seat. Service was quick and efficient. Once your food is delivered to your table, you are asked if you would like any tartar sauce or lemon slices before you are wished to have a nice meal. You are checked on to see if you need anything or are enjoying your meal after a reasonable time. Trays are collected politely too! Overall, it’s been a pleasure! The food was beautiful and the service was way above what I expected from a fish and chip restaurant. It was also really good to see management stepping in and helping out when it started to pick up. I look forward to coming again

We had the lunchtime special (served all day) it was amazing. Well battered haddock and chips with bread and butter and a pot of tea with extra hot water. It was really well cooked and served and was hot and tasty. Best fish & chips I’ve had in a long time with a proper brew, as my Yorkshire husband said. Well worth a visit. Has a Gluten Free option for all fish and sausages etc. Blue Light discount of 5% if you show your card. Will definitely come here again. Right next door to Iceland in Scarborough town centre.

Couldn’t visit the seaside without fish and chips. Wackers was very close to the hotel where we were staying. A large restaurant at the back of the takeaway counters. Clean and quick service. Lovely fresh fish and the batter was light and melt in the mouth. Came with bread & butter and a pot of tea.

Just came today they have plenty of wheelchair acces two tables at the front clearly labled. And several at the back all wheelchair available. Three wheelchair acces toilets with plenty of moveability. Staff are very pleasant and really helpful. Will definitely come again

Was passing and popped in had medium fish and chips for 2 was with coffee and a pot of tea bread and butter was cooked lovely and extra treats for the dogs and would recommend a visit

Found this place by chance and sat in for lunch. Fish was fresh and moist and the batter was meltingly light. A medium fish is plenty big enough and the chips were lovely. Tartare sauce and a big wedge of lemon were nice touches. The restaurant is big and I wonder what it would be like in busy periods but would definitely return.

Went hoping to have lunch but there's no seating available for wheelchair users. Two half tables near entrance with chairs could be used but should be labelled as for disabled customers only.

Really enjoyed our visit to Wackers ,the only things that spoiled it was the margarine on the bread plus I thought the mushy peas were poor value for money ,otherwise everything else was fine.

Errrrr I knew it was going to be grim when the frozen cheap bread with too much stalk marj plastered on and the red sauce bottle filled with that horrible cheap catering watered down yakkk, chips were ok but only ok , fish was beautiful and so was the tea , such ashame , maybe owners should nip up to the magpie at Whitby and see how they do it properly

Always our favourite when in Scarborough.Unfortunately disappointed today with the chips. They seemed more like frozen definitely not as nice as before. The fish was lovely.

Best fish and chips we have had years Went with my daughter and her family welcomed with a smile and a very helpful man, baby high chair and really clean all round order at the till and then table service Absolutely delicious crispy batter ( no soggy mess) chips lovely one year old really enjoyed her tea cake and a few chips. Always great food with great accessibility for wheelchairs and other mobility aids. Service has always been great and the staff have always been helpful. The only improvement to at could be made for accessibility would be the addition of automatic doors to the entrance.

We came here by chance. We basically parked the car and looked for the nearest fish & chip shop on google! I'm so pleased we did as it was possibly the best food we've had from a chip shop. When you walk in it is very retro and basic - think benches and tables. It's very much like a canteen. Do not let that put you off! You find a table, order at the counter and they bring your food to you. It was freshly made to order. Make sure you search for this place as its not on a main street. We loved it!!

Bravo Wackers! My father, a Scarborian himself, has been recommended Wackers to me for years, and I finally went in with my wife, two kids and two dogs this afternoon. Two of us had the fish & chips 'light bites'; very high quality food and enough for us for lunch, and remarkably cheap too. The kids had scampi and sausage and they were good too. The staff were all supremely friendly, and the dogs liked the treats and water. We'll be returning to Wackers.

Fabulous Fish and chips! We initially went as needed a Gluten free menu, turned out the owner is celiac!!! Knowledgeable and understanding of the menu and the condition. If you need gluten free fish and chips I recommend you come away from Paps (who have stopped GF in Scarborough) head into the town and pop into Whackers. You won't be disappointed

Wackers have recently introduced a gluten free menu. I ordered the small fish and chips and was a perfect size. Very good customer service and provide gluten free vinegar and tartar sauce. I will return next time I visit Scarborough 😊😊😊

Absolutely lovely restaurant with lovely staff and food. Dogs allowed in and made a fuss off, treat and water fetched for the dog. Customer service at its best! Best service we have had in a long time.

I had the Lunchtime special that is served all day, it was a medium haddock fish with chips,tea and buttered bread all for £12 pounds, the fish was very good and also it was very large for a medium sized fish and the batter was lovely and golden and crispy.

Nice place for fish and chips. We sat in the restaurant part and the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and courteous. Food was hot and enjoyable. Will definitely return here.

Fantastic restaurant and such lovely staff and amazing customer service there was a gentleman in there today and they couldn't do enough for him helped him carry his tray to the table even opened his sugars for him then when he finished even helped him to put his coat on this is something you don't see very often nowadays will definitely be returning for beautiful fish and chips 👍

Just bought an amazing Cod and stupidly dropped it after having a couple of bites... The fish was amazing! Went back to order another they wouldn't accept payment! We tried to insist but no chance, it was my fault and we should have paid. The second Cod was delicious but the customer service was even better! Highly recommend and we will definitely return 10/10...well done guys

Family of 4 visiting from Grimsby where we are spoilt for fish and chip restaurants and takeaways. All agreed that the haddock and chips were brilliant. Chunky fish, crispy batter, fresh chips and lovely mushy peas. Quick, friendly service and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.

Good value, cooked fresh lovely fish and chips

Having searched for a dog friendly Fish and Chip restaurant in Scarborough we went for lunch to Wackers..looks quite small from the outside but has been recently refurbed and has loads of seating. Four of us sat down with our two dogs, and after a few minutes we were offered dog treats and a bowl of water for them..that’s a great touch. Then we looked at the menu..two of us are relatively elderly and didn’t want a huge meal..the Menu was very comprehensive..after 1pm, there is an offer of a small fish and chips portion, with bread, fruit juice and a cup of tea and it was only £11.50..we ordered this..didn’t have to wait too long and the meals arrived..the young lady then offered tartar sauce as well. Several ladies went by on the way to the toilets and they all asked to make a fuss of the dogs which was really nice. Then a gentleman came by, introduced himself as Steve..the owner of Wackers..he told us about the refurb where all the old fryers were decommissioned and new ones installed..everything is on the level so wheelchair bound people can use the facilities easily..such a sensible idea. By this time we had finished our lunch.. very pleased indeed with it..the fish was tender and tasty and the batter was fabulous. Altogether a really worthwhile visit to a great traditional fish and chip shop.

Generations of my family have gone here and always loved it. UNTIL. DOGS ! I cannot understand the management allowing dogs. Like I say my mum. Her mum and grandma been regulars but we don’t agree on this policy. We all know animals and humans...

Beautiful white fish. Plenty of chips. We were offered wedges of lemon and tartar sauce when the meals were brought to our table. There seemed to be lots of 'locals' in the establishment, which is always a good sign!

Fabulous fish and chips - best I've had in a long time. They bring generous scraps in a bowl and the mushy peas tasted better than others. Proper chip shop chips too along with a medium fresh fish that seemed large to me. It's a lovely clean and quite large restaurant with welcoming friendly staff. I'll definately be back again when I visit Scarborough. It reminded me of The Gainsborough in Hull in the 70s.

Was on a mobility scooter & was great as being all on one level. Then didnt need to walk far to a booth. All in all food & service was good.

Having gone to Wackers in York (now closed down) for years expected same standard & service,not so We arrived on a very wet Friday teatime,looked at the menu & both ordered the Pensioner's meal,came with small fish,chips,mushy peas tea or coffee & bread & butter....

Best fish and chips we have had in a long time cooked to perfection chips were a lovely golden brown and not greasy great staff and great service will definitely be back 😋
