Lovely tea in the Lovely palm court. Excellent service and quiet music. Highly recommended. Also in the men’s room they had books to read! Super.

I booked Afternoon Tea with Champagne because it had been a while since I had visited Scarborough and I love the Palm Court. It holds so many happy memories since I first stayed in 1983 when I was expecting my first child so it was a nostalgic visit and I went with my best friend. We had such a lovely afternoon. The service was lovely. The young man who served us was so courteous and helpful. The selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes was excellent and there was a lot. In fact, we each took some away us for later. (An extra bonus) The champagne was also excellent and very much appreciated by us. Of course, there was tea. As much as we wanted. I loved my afternoon tea and what added to the experience for me was the fact that the Palm Court is still an oasis of excellence in the midst of Scarborough. Our champagne afternoon tea was elegant, served with care and attention and eaten with delight. I love the Palm Court.

We went there to celebrate our anniversary and wasn't disappointed. We had the gentleman's afternoon tea. It was all very fresh home made and very tasty, and something special. The staff were lovely and very attentive. Will definitely recommend for something different.

I have come to abhor afternoon tea, especially if taken instead of proper lunch. But not here at Palm Court Scarborough. They offer three kinds of afternoon tea: Traditional, Gentleman’s Savoury, and Fish & Chip. My husband chose the traditional and I got the savoury afternoon tea, and I say that mine is just amazing. He got the sweet stuff, but mine was just as amazing: shrimp cocktail, pork pie, smoked fish croquette, and other lovely savoury creations, and the best bit: the cheese and onion scone with bacon jam and cheddar cheese cream - yummy! The ambiance is just as beautiful here and it made for a relaxing afternoon treat. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ❤️

Very clean and covid safe . Great location and free parking . Menu and decor needs an update . Some great customer service from reception , breakfast staff . We had to wait ages to get a drink in the bar and it wasn’t t busy - ignored by the ‘man in the suit’ and female waiting staff thanks to the young barman who eventually served us and a few other non regulars !

I had booked this as part of my wife's 60th weekend as a surprise. We were escorted to our table and the order taken. It was supposed to be a Champagne afternoon tea with a coffee. The tea was absolutely delicious. So unusual to have a 'Fish and Chip' tea. It was Friday after all. well presented too. Unfortunately, we didn't receive a drink with it. No coffee and no Champagne. The only staff member was running around doing other duties. No-one asked how the food was or if we needed anything. I told the staff member after eating that we hadn't received any drink (probably expected too much should have left my food and searched for assistance?). The staff member said nothing. Anyway, I asked for two slices of their delicious carrot and coffee cake and coffee with Tia Maria. Didn't really get an apology but we enjoyed the food not the service. That's the reason for average score.

A lovely well priced afternoon tea. Loads of Cream cakes , sandwiches scones and fruit cake. Champagne option worth the extra £4.00 . Service was friendly and efficient. Surroundings elegant with piano music playing. Tables well spaced but still made the room look pleasant . Everything just as you would expect for a proper afternoon tea!

Visited here yesterday with my partner as a treat. Came for afternoon tea there is a choose of three different afternoon teas; sweet, savoury, and fish and chip. We went for the sweet one which included sandwiches, scone and selection of desserts and cakes. The sandwiches are limited list but you could change the order if you didn’t like some of them to have more of another which we did. You can’t choose the cakes but there was a good selection we really liked the mini bake well tart. You get a nice pot of Yorkshire tea with it. Couldn’t finish it all but was a nice treat!

We popped in for a family lunch mid week after an emotional trip to the funeral directors, and I cannot say how much it lifted our spirits. Our server Jenna was brilliant, offering tips, insights and encouragements as we wound our way through the tempting menu. We ended up choosing the haggis, the duck and the chicken noodle salad, with some olives and bread to start. Each dish was delicious, beyond our expectations and we ended up eating far more than planned. Stuffed! A truly wonderful culinary experience. Will certainly return.

Went for our third visit in a party of twelve. This afternoon tea was a return visit after a disappointing one (the first visit was very good). This time we all could not recommend it enough - beautifully fresh food, high quality ingredients and quick attentive service. Clearly our disappointing experience was a 'blip' as we could not fault this. Excellent afternoon tea with Prosecco for most of us and the fish afternoon tea for a few of us. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. We'll be back!

My friend and I booked Fish and chip high tea with champagne which was on the whole delicious but we were really disappointed with the prawn cocktail. It would seem they use cheap prawns which were dry and not at all meaty. You are based in a seaside town and should use good quality local fish produce. However we had a wonderful afternoon with lovely staff attending to our needs. Thank you.

Had afternoon tea here 3 months ago and it WAS great, so we all decided to go again.Booked well in advance and visited on in March 2019.. After waiting more than 1/2 an hour the food eventually turned up, the bread was a bit dry the, stale scones, misshapen brownies, cardboard macaroons, and on and on, we all (party of 12) left some or all of the cakes, the sandwiches were a little better. I think the cakes were made the day we booked, the service was no better and when we did complain we were told we should have complained earlier, difficult to complain before you have tried the food!? This was a joke compared to the food in early December. Finally the word tea usually means plenty of cups of tea, this was also very poor in quality and quantity. We will NOT be going here again. having had afternoon tea at the Stained Glass centre which was wonderful, I suggest the manager tries here to see how it is done correctly, and at a lower cost.

We had the seasonal afternoon tea which consisted of delicious hot savouries and finger sandwiches, traybakes, scones and mini desserts. I particularly enjoyed the smoked haddock fishcakes and the lovely range of sandwiches, including smoked salmon, roast beef and coronation chicken and the scones with clotted cream. We also had refills of tea and coffee. We could not finish it so takeaway boxes are provided on request. The surrounding were comfortable and relaxing and a lovely way to catch up with friends. The staff were pleasant and attentive. A very enjoyable experience.

Had an early afternoon tea last Friday as were out in the evening. We were the second table in and we're shown to our table quickly by the friendly waitress. Myself and my wife had the gentlemans tea, me with a black sheep beer and her with a champagne. My daughter had the traditional tea. The Glaves pork pie was excellent but there we're two different crackers on top of each other but with only cheese and relish on one. What was the other for? Sandwiches, scones and cakes/ desserts were good except the brownie which was a bit dry. We had a second drink which took a while to order and it was slow to get the bill and even slower to pay it.

Mid Saturday afternoon tea for the girls (thought we would have a change from a night out) surprisingly very busy. The waitress too orders for the teas and came back with a good selection of sandwiches (pies from the gents tea) and cakes and of course tea but what a good time we had. Alcohol is also served so everyone is catered for.

This is one of my favorite places for tea. I always come when I'm on NYC. I think the chicken sandwich is delicious! The ambiance is always lovely & relaxing, however each time I come I am disappointed with the service. For such a great place the service really isn't up to par. I was waiting for a while for anyone to address our table once the food came, and the bill took very long to get. The service is poor, but the food is lovely.

We recently treated ourselves to an afternoon tea here. The finger sized sandwiches were delicious, the scones were lovely and the small pudding pots added a great modern twist to afternoon tea. Sadly we found the small cakes a little dry, when we reported this to the waitress she was extremely apologetic and gave us complimentary pudding pots and cake. We'd definitely recommend here for a relaxing after noon tea.

We've been a number of times to the hotel in the past few years for afternoon tea between visiting times with family in hospital. The lounge is stylish, the pianist a lovely touch and the service is excellent. But value for money - sadly no more. The price has gone up and up, but the food is a disappointment. Three finger sandwiches, a small (rather dry) scone, jam and cream, a mini pud in a sherry glass and a couple of tiny cakes and pot of tea for £14.95 per person... We won't be returning again sadly. Much better value teas available elsewhere locally.

We are very fond of this hotel and when in Scarborough often have dinner here in the lovely, chandelier-filled main restaurant, or lunch in "The Lounge". We have never been disappointed with either, although the service can - sporadically - be quite unpredictable. But when we decided to try their afternoon tea, it was very, very poor. It comprised a very small selection of dried out finger sandwiches, with boring fillings, a few miniature cakes, scones and pastries and some very tiny dessert items presented in small glasses. The cakes, scones and pastries all had that "stale" look and taste about them and the little dessert items had clearly been kept in a refrigerator for a long time, probably overnight. Nothing tasted fresh and it was all very unappealing. Even the choice of teas was less than impressive. Bizarrely, all the teas on offer were imported from Australia, or so the waitress told us - yet surely we, the English, are renowned for having the very best selection of teas in the world, right here in our own country? Afternoon tea here costs £19.95 per person with a small glass of champagne, or £14.95 per person without. Perhaps this would be a bargain in London - but in Scarborough? Hardly - unless the quality of the meal happened to be excellent. It wasn't.

Six ladies and I went last Saturday afternoon for Festive Tea at the Palm Court, and it really was festive. The decorations were up and the table was set out beautifully. The pianist was playing in the corner of the room and there was a lovely atmosphere. The waitresses were very helpful and pleasant, taking photos for us. The three tier plates came and were for two people each to share. Four different types of sandwiches and seven mini cakes each, which included a scone with jam and cream. We had Champaign included and different types of tea were available. it was all lovely and everyone enjoyed themselves. We even requested some Christmas music and the pianist obliged. Would I alter anything? ...as someone who enjoys savoury, the finger sandwiches could have been a little larger, otherwise a fabulous spread. we had a great time, thank you Palm Court.

My son has a dairy allergy and often has to settle for sorbet when at an ice cream parlour. Truly Scrumptious gave him an amazing choice of dairy free ice creams and toppings. We wouldn’t normally have 3 ice creams in 3 days but he was just so excited that he had choices, how could we not??!!

Food was ok. Price was a little steep. Service was nothing to write home about. BUT what was really annoying, after paying by card and leaving, was being chased down on a busy pavement by a member of staff saying the payment didn't go through - tried again and again, then another card and the another card with the staff member carrying the payment machine saying all declined when none of them should have failed ! Because golden grid has been established for such a long time you'd have thought they would have sorted this problem out but apparently not ! it's not like it would cost them much to get better devices with better reception but no they can't be bothered. SO be prepared to be chased down and embarrassed.

We had a lovely lunch with family today, enjoying the view from above and the sunshine. However, when my food was being served, the sizzling from the oil in it landed on my husband's coat. When we asked for the bill, I explained the situation to the lady, who by the way was the person who served us the food, and she barely apologized. I would expect a better handling of the situation...
