Visited this pub last night with some friends who live local. It’s a gorgeous village pub and the staff and customers are really friendly. I was made to feel really welcome and would definitely recommend this pleasant hidden gem.

Family meal. More bar staff needed and some did appear somewhat stressed. I ordered the rack of ribs, they tasted lovely but were no where near hot enough. Good JD sauce. The corn on the cobs were inedible, boiled within in an inch! My husband enjoyed his beef burger, but overall, for the price of food, it’s nothing special. Most of the party were just ‘erm, it was okay’. Good price on a bottle of red wine and the food came out as we ordered, we they wanted us to pay at the bar due to party size. Main male staff member greeting as we walked in was friendly.

Had a voucher bought for Christmas for an Afternoon Tea and chose The Keys. This was excellent - the food was very tasty and a bit different from the normal sandwiches, scones and cakes. We were feeling quite full but managed to finish everything!! Would highly recommend this.

We were served quickly at the bar and the server there was friendly however when we ate in the restaraunt, we found the food was greasy and the place seemed understaffed. It was reasonable priced but I probably wouldn't go again or recommend it to my family and friends.

We’ve been, as a couple, most weeks for around 6 months. The breakfasts are great, we’ve tried most of the options between us. The fried eggs are sometimes a little overdone. We’ve not had other complaints though. The staff are always really great. Last week we turned up as a group of 7 (family visiting), they got everything cooked great, no problems making the various changes our fussy family wanted. All came out together. We regularly buy their home cooked pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, etc for a quick tea in the week and they are always lovely.

As a frequent visitor to dewsbury I usually always go to the timepiece for breakfast, dinner etc. However on this occasion on two attempts to go in, first one a homeless looking man came out as I was about to go in so I changed my mind and the second time I opened the front door to see about 4 homeless guys in the pub so I closed the door and left.

We were looking for 'cheap and cheerful' and boy that's what we got! Food really good and plenty of it too. Very loyal and such friendly locals in an environment which was just great.... florals, drapes and nick nacks galore, with a warm welcoming open fire. So different from the usual run of the mill and bland surroundings. Landlord "Amos Brierley", thanks for your offerings. Young waiting staff, you couldn't have done more for us. Regulars, thanks for the chats! My friend enquired about a job there as we felt this place would make any employee smile!

I ordered an iced tea expecting a cold drink as you would want if you ordered an iced tea but instead my drink was mildly warm and made me almost not want to continue drinking, I hope this is a mistake and Costa understands what the iced part of iced tea means

I was impressed with the exterior of this building has i walked in. After a look around, i settled in the impressive beer garden and ordered via the app. I enjoyed a good Korean chicken sticky bowl with my favourite craft beer: Hazy Jane. After enjoying my meal and drink i had a look around and enjoyed a Jaipur. All in all a good visit, food and drinks for around £12. Would go again.

We ate here bank holiday Monday but I have to say it is not as good as it used to be. I had the caesar salad but it was all lettuce and not a lot of anything else, my husband had the burger but said it was very greasy and not a high quality burger. They have had the place done out nice but I preferred it before. We wondered if it had a new chef or owners.

We have used Merry England for years never a complaint! We went on Wednesday late morning , mostly young male staff , service at counter was slow , I ordered two bacon sandwiches and two drinks , the sandwiches took a while to arrive , they were also quite cold I’m mean cold ! tomato also not cooked . I took them back and they were heated up a bit and given back to us . Still not hot may I add . I’m sorry but when you are charging over £18 for two bacon sandwiches and two drinks you need to up your game . Very disappointing visit . Will I go back I’m not sure .
