I booked an afternoon tea for me and my elderly mother at The Keys as a special treat for mum. I am not familiar with Huddersfield so was using my phone as a sat Nav to find the venue, I had driven around the tea room several times but I could nt work out how to get into the car park as it was on a one way street. We were booked in at 1.30 pm , at 1.35pm I rang the Keys to ask how to access the car park. The man who answered the phone was immediately verbally aggressive towards me, shouting repeatedly that the" kitchen was closed" ! I did nt understand this as we would have been in tea room for at least an hour and half from 1.30pm. I tried to explain that I was unable to use my phone and call before 1.30 pm as I was using my phone to navigate Huddersfield town centre. The man was becoming more and more angry saying that as we were late we d have to find somewhere else to eat. Customer service at this place is clearly very poor indeed , I would never recommend the Keys to anyone !

From the moment we walked in on Tuesday we knew we were in for a treat. The entire experience was wonderful, from the delicious food to the attentive service from jay who appeared to be on his own that night to the charming ambiance.we will definitely be recommending this lovely place to our friends and family

Thorncliffe Farm shop could be a great choice. The food is generally good quality and most of the staff very helpful. What a shame that the management seem intent on spoiling it for people. On the last few occasions we've been told we can only sit on a table for 2 despite several much nicer places other tables being available. We've sat there and eaten and not one table for 4 has been occupied despite asking politely to use a better placed table. The table police at their best. We recently ordered take out, but decided to park ourselves on an outside bench to take in 5 mins of sun and sip a coffee. The usual manager made a point of attempting to tell us off, saying 'you ordered takeaway so shouldn't use the tables'. This is despite the price being the same. It achieved nothing but assume it made her feel better. Latest, entered the restaurant at 2.55pm knowing they stopped hot food at 3pm. Seated (had to make the usual argument for the free 4 seater table), and ordered at the tip at 2.59pm. Server ran to to kitchen, spoke to the usual duty manager who we've had the pleasure of encountering before only to come back and announce 'cold sandwiches and drinks only'. I pointed out that we'd ordered before 3pm and she just smiled. What an absolute shame that such a potential gold mine continues to alienate their customers for no apparent reason. Won't be returning

Bought a black forest cake for a birthday celebration. It was delicious and well worth the £19.95 price. It said to serve 12, however these are very generous portions. Beautiful sponge and perfect buttercream. Will definitely buy from the Merrie again.

Popped in for an after dinner drink in this local pub. Pleasant wood and brick interior with an open fire in the centre between bars. Comfy seats and a choice of table, it was quiet on arrival but started ti fill up as we ere leaving Sensible priced drinks and the service was polite and helpful. Beer garden outside and adequate parking available.

As a frequent visitor to dewsbury I usually always go to the timepiece for breakfast, dinner etc. However on this occasion on two attempts to go in, first one a homeless looking man came out as I was about to go in so I changed my mind and the second time I opened the front door to see about 4 homeless guys in the pub so I closed the door and left.

When u walk into the Lower Royal George, you might think you've gone back in time to a place where the beams are hung with tankards, there are swags and tails and dried flowers everywhere with wall to wall ornaments and trinkets.... but what's great about this place is the home cooked food, the warm welcome from the locals and the overall feeling of being in a real country pub, run by Steve and Margaret who have been here for 43 years. We had piping hot, lovely quality Sunday lunches - the menu is very varied with a great dessert selection. Their customers are obviously very loyal...and for good reason... it's the 2nd year we've visited and we wouldn't hesitate to come back..... thanks for a great afternoon.

We were so looking forward to our romantic valentine's evening. Sadly the previous reviewer has said most of it for us. Extortionately expensive, to be honest, for actually a less than mediocre meal which was not particularly enjoyable. It was obvious, from the occasional groans, the that something was very very wrong in the kitchen, even though front of house staff attemped to cover the cracks with gracious service. Also, yes it was far too cold. Have had lunch several times in this beautiful building, which have been very pleasant, although they really do need to sort out the heating problem.

I ordered an iced tea expecting a cold drink as you would want if you ordered an iced tea but instead my drink was mildly warm and made me almost not want to continue drinking, I hope this is a mistake and Costa understands what the iced part of iced tea means

We visited The Woodman tonight and asked if they had a table for two and the restaurant manager who we have met before was all too accommodating (as he always is). Found us a table, sat us down, took our coats. This man knows hospitality. I am yet to find better service in a restaurant. The two young staff working with him Eden and Kai were both very helpful, polite, professional and couldnt do enough for you. Food was brilliant. The setting is stunning. Couldnt have asked for a lovelier meal.
