Had a meal on Friday night and was excited to return with family but the menu seemed limited and food was very average for the money - felt like the spark had gone - maybe a one off has the chef changed ? Or were they involved in the wedding - will go back but disappointed this time

I stayed here for a friends wedding, Fabulous food and the comfiest bed! The staff are so friendly too. Bathroom was very clean. Would recommend

We recently had lunch here to celebrate our daughters graduation from University. When we got there there was a congratulations card for my daughter and celebratory balloons from the staff. My daughter and daughter in law asked if they could have some tomatoes with their caesar salads and this was taken care of. The food was as ever tasty and delicious. The final surprise was desert, when my daughter was presented with her desert that had 'Congratulations' written on the plate. What a lovely gesture, so I would like to thank all the staff and manager for making this lunch extra special!

Delicious and well presented food with attentive and friendly service in a lovely environment! See the pictures, they speak for themselves! Having not been out for Sunday lunch in a while we decided on the woodman and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We had starters and ordered 2 of the Sunday roasts, pie, mash and veg and the fish & chips. We were all full but couldn’t resist ordering a dessert too! The starters and mains were piping hot, everything well presented and enjoyed by us all! Service was great, was lovely to enjoy your meal without being rushed. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Had a fantastic experience at The Woodman! We were visiting from out of town and only planned on popping in for drinks but ended up having a three course meal! The food was amazing, the staff were so attentive and happy to help with any questions we had. The atmosphere was so lovely and you can see why customers come back here 🥰 We’ll definitely be back when we’re in the area again!

First time here. We had heard very good things about the woodman, and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Had Sunday lunch, everything from start to finish was perfect. Food was spot on, had a mixture of dishes. The Sunday roast was perfect, chicken supreme delicious and the beef pie Devine. Service was great, very friendly and attentive. Will be back very soon

This is a gorgeous venue when the sun shines as indeed was the case when wee went for Sunday lunch. I would like to be generous as this is one of my favourite places. I do though feel that it is not the eatery it was under previous ownership.. The staff are great but let down by modest food. The Sunday roast was OK . My steak and ale pie though was the worst I have had in any pub for many years. It was an individual pie that did not look orl feel made 'in house'. The filling was minimal and over heated and surounded in short crust pastry. Roast potatoes seemed to be of Aunt Bessie's origin.

A wonderful Sunday lunch. We all enjoyed every aspect of our meals. Delicious food, beautifully presented. The service was excellent, staff are delightful and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Very good value for money. Obviously a very well managed establishment. Will definitely return.

A warm welcome from the man in the great suit and jet black hair upon entering this beautiful little country pub. A variety of drinks to choose from with excellent quick & efficient service from the tall guy behind the bar. We chose from a few nibbles & starters & we were overwhelmed with flavours and portions. The chorizo croquettes are Michelin quality in my opinion, the scotch egg was moist and runny. The chilli focaccia was unbelievable, left us wanting more. The harissa hummus topped with dried chickpeas ouzed flavour and was a show stopper! We were left feeling well fed. The service is above and beyond perfect, warm, welcoming & nothing is too much trouble. The night was finished with an espresso martini which ended the night perfectly. Look forward to our next visit, which won’t be long after tonight.

Everything from the start of our stay to the end was superb. We booked with our 2 dogs and the room was amazing. Spotlessly clean and provided 2 dog mats, a bowl of water and a dog welcome pack. If that wasn’t a great start the rooms were modern and so very comfortable. Dogs were allowed to dine with us in the evening and the food was just superb. Plus dogs came to breakfast with us which was equally excellent. Really can not rate this place high enough and will certainly revisit. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so very very comfortable. If you’re thinking of booking don’t hesitate, just do it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

After receiving a email from the woodman promoting the Easter weekend events and come and enjoy a drink with us we thought to take a walk with our dog and have a few drinks. If you invite me don't then ignore me at the bar while you polish the wine glasses and hold them to the light and polish them again to make sure they are suitable to be used along with the bottle of wine for some one dining I presume. Acknowledge me and say I won't be a moment or something to make me feel welcome. Anyway polish you did, fortunately a member of the team arrived eventually to accept my order. Also you need to keep them toilets cleaner when it's busy 😔 I don't like having to walk through water and urine on the floor, luckily I only needed to use the urinals as to use the toilet would have meant hosting the trousers up as not to be soaking up the mess on the floor. Toilet roll scattered about as far as the initial door of entry. I realise it's the clientele that makes the mess but unfortunately it's your responsibility to ensure they are in a fit state to use. So don't sit on your laurels as one day people will move on to find a new.

After returning to the area after 25 years, I was really looking forward to my meal at the Woodman. It started well, with some delicious local beer and a friendly welcome, but on moving through to the restaurant, we were met with a slightly frosty gentleman, who I assumed was the manager. He wasn’t particularly rude, but far less engaging and customer focused than the rest of the young team. The Woodman used to have a reputation for great food, but my prawn cocktail was average at best, and unfortunately my steak was really disappointing. It was extremely tough, and covered in a very rich, salty gravy- I actually felt quite nauseous for the following 24 hours. I should have complained at the time, but in typical British fashion, I didn’t want to make a scene, especially as I was dining with a friend.

I cannot begin to describe how fantastic the Woodman really is. While the facilities are modern and spotless with fantastic food and great range of beers by far and away the staff are the stand out here. Above and beyond doesn’t even come close the staff at the woodman create and homely atmosphere which has been fantastic working away as I do and I have to say no hotel will ever come close and that is all down to the staff.

Hands down, one of the best establishments I have ever stayed in, I’ve been numerous times and can hand on heart say, without exception, I have been amazed at the standards of service, courtesy and overall hospitality of the woodman and the wider team, the food is exceptional and no requests are ever too much, friendly staff, nice food, beautiful venue, what’s not to love! Couldn’t recommend them enough, credit to the hospitality industry!

We got married here on 24/02/2024 and I cannot rate our experience highly enough! From booking our wedding back in August 2022 until the day we cannot fault a single thing - I had numerous questions that were always answered quickly and I was never made to feel like a nuisance. Wedding planning can be an extremely stressful and time consuming thing but with the help from Jordan, Ben and Kieran it never really felt that way for us. Props to Ben especially as on the day before the wedding and the actual day he was amazing, kept me calm and really looked after us, couldn’t have asked for anything more! The team are amazing at what they do. We have had had so much feedback from our guests saying it is the best food they have ever had at a wedding and I have to agree - it was all delicious and our guests dietary requirements and fussy toddlers needs were all catered for without question! The food was a massive selling point for us when we viewed the venue initially and certainly lived up to expectations. I am so sad it is all over and if I could do it all over again I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you to the Ben, Jordan and all the amazing woodman team for making our day so special and run smoothly. Can’t wait to come back for a drink and a meal soon :)

I just can’t tell you how much you need to get married here!!!! We got married here in january and the team at the woodman made our dreams come true! Not only is the venue stunning especially the garden room and orangery! The food is to die for and amazing portions for what you would expect for a wedding( no small portions here) The team are just incredible there is nothing they can’t do for you and they truly made our day fabulous!! Dined here yesterday (party of 7) and enjoyed an excellent Sunday dinner roast; best I've had in a long time. I had roast pork with stuffing which was beautifully tender, plates and food were served hot and the service was excellent. Thank you!

Came down and my fury friend was welcomed in with open arms. Free treats offered for dogs and also a menu of their own. The pub had a lovely cosy atmosphere and great service. Would definitely recommend!

Went on a Tuesday for lunch the food served was lovely varied choice on the menu service also very good We liked the atmosphere and it felt cosy although we wish we had been seated nearer the fire as a little chilly. We had an absolutely wonderful experience during our night stay at the Woodman pub! The main reason for our visit was to go to the vineyard in Holmfirth, and we were fortunate enough to have found this lovely place to stay. The service we received from the moment we checked in was truly exemplary. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive to our needs. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The food served at the pub was absolutely fantastic! We had both dinner and breakfast, and we couldn't fault either. The quality, presentation and taste of the meals were all top-notch. It was clear that great care and attention had been taken in preparing each dish, and we were thoroughly impressed. The rooms themselves were also fantastic. They were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. We appreciated the attention to detail in the decor and furnishings, which added to the overall experience. We were particularly impressed by the water pressure in the showers, which was surprisingly strong and invigorating. All in all, we had a memorable and enjoyable stay at the Woodman pub. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in the area.

Just the loveliest staff - genuinely helpful, friendly and thoughtful.. nothing was too much trouble and I felt really well looked after. The rooms are great and well provisioned (beautifully soft bed linen) and the food was delicious.. made my impromptu stay really enjoyable.. thank you 🤩

We were at the Woodman Inn to celebrate my daughters wedding. From the 1st minute to the last, over a 2-day stay, our experience of them was amazing. From the welcome we received on arriving, to opening the door of our dog-friendly room (with a dog bed, bowl, and doggie toys), to the first meal, and then the wedding event itself, it could not have been better. The location itself is beautiful, and hand on heart, the staff were fantastic - they couldn't have done anymore to make it a special day. The food in the restaurant was stunning, as was the wedding breakfast itself. My only regret is that the day itself has passed and the experience is over.

We are staying local for a holiday and went to The Woodham Inn for Sunday lunch. It was one of the best Sunday lunches we have had out. The lamb and beef were melt in the mouth, roasties were spot on, the veg perfectly done and a large Yorkshire pud! Very much recommend. Yes, it may not be the cheapest, but you get quality food and portions which make it very good value in our opinion. Service also excellent. Highly recommend.

So check-in is 3pm but you can do early check-in for £15. We asked but couldn't guarantee it. Location for wedding venue is across the road from the pub. Purpose built marquee with a bar. But toilets are outside so if it's raining your going to get wet. Not good getting your wedding clobber wet! Food service was very good as was the food. But we asked for gravy as did a few other tables. It came out to a few (only 8 tables in total) then we were told sorry no more available. That left 3 tables with no gravy not acceptable if you are serving only 60 odd people! A lot of food was left because of this. We stayed in room 17 in the Garden Suite. Nice bed plenty of pillows, tea/coffee making facilities. Bathroom very nice apart from shower head was minging hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Breakfast was nice loved the sausage shame you only get 1. Good choice of cereals juices as well.
