Nags Head in Kirklees

We were staying at the hotel nearby so visited the Nags Head for drinks / tea. I’m coeliac. They stock gluten free lager by the bottle so we sat outside in the sunshine admiring the view of the pub whilst having a couple of drinks. Our meal was fantastic! Piping hot, delicious hunters chicken and chips ( gluten free) partner had the gammon and chips also delicious 🤤 The only thing I would suggest is to have a separate gluten free menu. Or add gf symbols on the current menu. The process to order gluten free is you’re handed a tablet and you have to enter your preferences. Great customer service , lovely pub. Definitely recommend

Chose this location as a halfway point to meet friends and we have been to Vintage Inns before and were happy. On this occasion, with this location, we were even more impressed, particularly with the service, Leahi was absolutely delightful. The food was great, although the potatoes were tough but delicious (and she knocked something off the price as a consequence which was a pleasant surprise. Will definitely go again.

Lovely little restaurant, staff are lovely and make you feel very welcome, food is amazing! The fish and chips and the Panang Curry are my favourites. Warm cozy vibes i do recommend.

Called in without booking for Sunday dinner. No problem, there is capacity for walk in guests. Excellent food for meat eaters and veggies. Large portions with a good selection of veggies, Yorkshire pud, roast and mash potatoes.

A group of us visited on a Friday night. Arriving at the restaurant for a pre-booked table we were told we’d have to go back to the bar to check in. So we went and queued at the bar. By the time we were served others had arrived, so we checked in, purchased drinks and returned to the dining room where we were told that it hadn’t come through. Eventually we were seated. Ordering started, I informed the waitress that I was allergic to onions but would like prawn cocktail and fish and chips, she said she’d go and check if the batter had onion powder in it. She came back after nearly 10 minutes and informed be that I could have the prawn cocktail but no sauce, no offer of an alternative so I opted not to have a starter. She then took everyone else’s order and after about 20 minutes the starters came out. One person asked what the soup of the day was, again the waitress didn’t know and had to go and ask. After another 40 to 50 minutes main courses were served. Despite saying I didn’t want peas 3 times I got peas. The fish was lovely but the batter was overdone. The service was very slow considering there were only 3 tables occupied (1x4 and 2x2). The staff were friendly but not very helpful. It was sad to see the Nags so quiet in the restaurant and the pub compared to the past when it would be heaving. The Nags could learn lessons in customer service from the Stretton Fox which is the same group.

Another lovely meal at the Nag's tonight served by Heather, she had a brilliant approach to dealing with my mother's dementia and really appreciate the value for money using the loyalty app

We wanted a quiet pint in a a good country pub while visiting West Yorkshire and The Nags Head did not disappoint. We enjoyed our evening there so much that we returned every evening on our trip. The pub and facilities were extremely clean, staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back next month. Thanks all!

Very warm and welcome reception from the bar staff who were very friendly and attentive. Had prawn cocktail starter followed by Sunday Roast dinner with my partner. Can't fault the meal it was delicious! The waitress was also very nice and accommodating. Will be going again and would definitely recommend.

Lovely pub and atmospheres. Tom the manager and his team are welcoming. Sunday lunch was excellent with various Choices.

Four humans and two dogs enjoyed a wonderful mid week evening meal. All had two courses and empty plates all round. Would definitely recommend. This place is very dog friendly which is great with water and treats on tap. Staff were brilliant very friendly efficient service. Will definitely return.

I went to eat at this beautiful building on my own due to work commitments and found it a most charming place to eat. My waitress Leah was very helpful and kind but not too in your face. She would casually check if I needed anything and have a little chat which made me feel most welcome. The food was amazing, I had pizza and a pint. I will definitely be back next time I’m working nearby.

We were served by Leah and she made us feel so welcome and she was particularly patient with my disabled brother; she helped us pick a meal that would best fit his dietary needs and he absolutely loved it which was perfect. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to anybody, especially if you have additional needs and you are looking for a memorable evening.

Haven’t been to the nags head in a while, and the food, service and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Was greeted with a warm welcome from the General manager Tom! The young lady who looked after us was also friendly, polite and very accommodating. We will sure to be back!

Visited recently with a colleague and requested a table by the fire if available. When I arrived there was a table reserved right by the fire. Understood we were to order at the bar which was not a problem as we could order whenever we were ready. The fish finger sandwich was really tasty and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

This is a beautiful pub with stunning scenery from the outside. We was only nipping in for a drink on our way home when we sore how nice the food looked we decided to stay, we definitely was not disapointed, we had a lovely young lady look after us called Heather very polite and nothing was too much trouble, she is an accet to the company

Beautiful food, I had the Sea Bass and it was so tasty, my husband had the Signature Burger we both had sides of onion nest and creamy mushrooms both gorgeous! Lauren our waitress was just lovely very courteous , will definitely return!

Just been to the Nags Head and felt I had to leave a review as I don’t usually. As soon as we arrived we were felt so welcome and shown to or table by our waitress Leah. Leah could not have been more friendly and helpful as my children have very specific dietary requirements. She talked us through the menu and ingredients and nothing was too much trouble. When the food arrived it was very well presented and was delicious. Five star restaurant in our opinion.
