From the moment we walked in on Tuesday we knew we were in for a treat. The entire experience was wonderful, from the delicious food to the attentive service from jay who appeared to be on his own that night to the charming ambiance.we will definitely be recommending this lovely place to our friends and family

Great friendly welcome, new managers I suspect stating been in a few weeks after Robins tenure from argumentative waitress to manager. Two corn beef pies with chips/ new potatoes but why oh why would you drone the food in gravy ? Serve in a gravy boat let the customer decide. When I mentioned this he just said oh next ask and we will serve separately. So he intends to drown other customers food orders. Never never never drown the meal ….such a shame. Beer great but the food so so spoilt. Now I moved away sadly I will not return as the standard has dropped. Great pub in desperate need of new seating. Sad to see Bobs passing recently.

I absolutely love this place . The staff are amazing, the food is amazing. The place to grab a pizza better than anywhere I’ve ever been . The prices are really good and amazing value for money. Ignore the complaints . You always will find someone that has something to moan about. I’m am 100% fussy with what I eat and this place never ever fails to deliver good food . Sometimes you wait a bit longer but isn’t that what happens when get good home cooked food. Keep the local pubs going. There isn’t many like this still around ❤️

Disappointed is an understatement. I decided to take my sister and niece for lunch yesterday and was greeted by the manager who had horrendous manners. when it came to ordering food, my niece who YES is 17 but is autistic, asked if she could have chicken dippers from the children's menu but was abruptly told no because your older than 12. Its company policy!! I wasn't even allowed to pay for an adult version which doesn't make any sense at all. I didn't want to make a scene in front of people or upset my niece therefore i just ordered her a chicken burger but i found this service/policy disgusting. i appreciate not all disabilities have a label but the manager had no reason to be so rude and obnoxious towards us when all we wanted to do was have a nice meal together. Can truthfully say we will not be recommending this place to anyone whist run under such poor management.

A family get together as my family were visiting. We booked a table for 8 and were asked to pre order which we did. It was very busy when we arrived at seven as the early bird was just finishing. We had ordered off the full menu, still had a little time to wait which was fine. However, the meals were very disappointing. Dry steak. Cold roast beef, I had to ask for some warm gravy to help warm it up. Very poor food would not go back.

Myself and my husband came on a saturday evening on the spur of the moment. We have been plenty of times before but not for food. Its a very cosy , traditional pub with quite an extensive menu. As a vegetarian I was pleased to see that there was 5 veggie options not just the usual cheese and onion pie option a lot of places offer! I had the thai green curry and my husband opted for the steak. Although the service was a little slow considering how quiet it was (it was a proper rainy day) the food was piping hot and plentiful. We asked for the steak to be medium to well done but it was a little too much on the bloody side. Aside from that the food was excellent , tasty and well seasoned. Hubby was happy that the onion rings were the real deal and not the mush you would find in the freezer section in iceland. The staff were polite and friendly and we will be back to try something different in the future.

Very disappointed with tonight’s meal. Had to wait 35+ minutes for a kids roast, a beef dinner and a pie, once food had arrived it was very poor quality. Gravy was far too runny and looked like dishwater, beef was tough and over cooked, the mash didn’t taste of anything and the roast potatoes and chunky chips where still hard. The staff that were serving weren’t very helpful when asked if we enjoyed it and replied no they swapped waiters, which then needed a calculator to add up 2 items… very disappointing and won’t be back in a hurry

Probably the worst pub food I’ve ever had. Such a shame as it’s a lovely pub, we have been here many times and always enjoyed it previously. I got the giant yorkshire pudding with sausages, mash and veg and my partner got the fish and chips. The yorkshire pudding was clearly a frozen one which has no taste at all and was soggy, it came with no veg, awful mash and the thinnest gravy ever. I asked where the veg was, the waitress was very confused and asked if I wanted some on the side, I had to explain that the dish came with ‘seasonal veg and peas’, she brought it back with a tiny amount of veg but no peas. Not worth £13 at all. The fish and chips were awful. Would never go back for food unfortunately.

The chips with the fish and chicken strips were inedible soggy and wet inside ! The roast potatoes were the same just awful soggy and tasteless ! My husband ate his fish because he never leaves anything but once outside he told me it was undercooked inside and mostly batter . We left the majority of our food ! I took the turkey home for the dog and he turned his nose up at it !! We ended up eating in Morrisons! We won’t be coming back any time soon ! Ps. I had been told by a friend not to touch the food ‘with a barge pile’ but decided to get something quick as we were starving and the kids were having fun. Safe to say, as others have said , Get a new chef! The food is poor for the price and the service is not great. Coming from the south to visit elderly family. We took our elderly grand parents (both in their 90s) and our 2 year old daugther. The people that worked there were friendly and helpful which helped create a lovely, warm atmosphere. The food took a little while to arrive but could not complain as the service made up for any delay in the food. Amelia was very helpful and accommodating to the needs of our elderly grand parents and two year old daugther. We ordered 4 meals and a kids meal....the meal I personally ate was lovely and felt very genuine and homemade, there was no complaints from the other 3 meals. Sadly, my elderly grand father felt like the Yorkshire wrap was a little tough so the feedback was provided to Amelia, who fed it straight back to kitchen and, unexpectedly, it was removed from our bill without hesitation. Unlike other restaurants who weve had similar issues at, the guys at Wills O'Nats handled the feedback amazingly and so professionalHighly recommend, a credit to the area. We will be visiting again.Thank you Wills, keep up the good work.

My friend who, unlike me, had not visited before was mightily impressed with the dining experience when we called in for lunch halfway through a bracing walk around Blackmoorfoot Reservoir. It is warm and welcoming especially on a chilly December day and, with two meals on the early bird menu, priced at just £11, excellent value. I enjoyed fish, chips and garden peas while my friend opted for a gigantic tuna baguette accompanied with a portion of delicious onion rings. With two J2 O's, hygienically served, the bill came to a very acceptable, £17.15. While we there a party of 14 visited and they were quickly served with a variety of dishes from the extensive menu. I can highly recommend this establishment whatever the reason for your visit though I am glad I could walk off the generous meal that I enjoyed.

we visited the Will O Nats on Sunday 3rd of November 1919 at 6pm, our last visit was Saturday 24/09/2017,as we gave it a bad review, decided to give it another try, surely it had changed in the past two years, when we walked in we noticed the carvery was still open, I walked over and asked if we could have a carvery, was told no it closed at six, if we ordered a carvery at the bar we could have one. we found a table for four and I went to the bar and ordered the drinks and picked up a menu, my daughter and grandson ordered the vegetarian lasagne, my wife and I ordered the carvery, our meals came half hour later, the lasagnes came first and looked nice, when our carverys came what a let down they looked like it was the leavings from the lunch time carvery, totally inedible, we did make an attempt to start, the meat was tough the roasters were cold and very hard, we called the waitress over and complained, she removed the two plates of food and came back to see if we wanted to order something else, we did not receive an apology for the poor quality of the carverys. we said we would order the scampi and chips, when the scampi arrived we noticed they had overdone them and when we tried the chips they were cold, we did eat the scampi but left the rest. when I was paying the bill I said to the owner that the carverys should not have been served to us, she offered no apology, in fact it was as if I hadn't spoken to her. She made no comment whatsoever, in my previous review I mentioned how noisy it was in the bar area, on our visit this time we still had to suffer the over loud drinkers in the bar area. the only thing that stopped the night being a complete failure, my daughter and grandson enyoyed the lasagne.

Everything about the visit was outstanding, from the warm welcome, to the brilliant decor and superb quality of the food and drinks at very reasonable prices that will certainly make for a prompt return. This pub, situated in glorious countryside near to the Pennine village of Meltham, is an oasis in the neighbourhood and was an ideal establishment to visit on a chilly December day with the warm log fire so welcoming that made the food taste even better. Our party of three all sampled different meals from the varied menu. I had the fish cake, my brother-in-law the scampi while my sister was full of praise for the quality and freshness of the corned beef pie which came with an extra serving of delicious gravy. Two of these meals came at the great value price of £11 for the pair.. Two of my party travelled from Liverpool for the day and I am sure they will agree it was worth of every mile of the journey while I have it on good authority that the pint of Black Sheep Ale that my brother in law sampled was first class and a fine servant to the excellent food.

My partner had sausage and mash and the sausage was one of those disgusting long sausages that has little or no meat in it. The pub is very tired and looks desperate for a refurb. The owners are elderly and look ready to pack in, maybe when they go there will be changes in the same way as has happened at the Travellers Rest. It was cheap nbut not value for money, doubt we will be going back.

Very disappointed, from the offset as we walked in to the pub we were waiting for at least two minutes and were still not greeted by any member of staff despite our clear presence, as I said to the girl behind the bar were here for the Sunday carvery she responded with an abrupt “HAVE YOU BOOKED?!” And as I said hello to a member of staff who I actually know I was mimicked by one waitress. Replied yes; we were then sat down by a member of staff on a table that was tiny up against a wall, never mind the menu and table looking like it was from the 1960s we ordered drinks, in which my girlfriends drink came wrong as she ordered a black currant and lemonade but came just as blackcurrent, but we ignored it... after an already unwelcoming start we got our food and we’re met with more unfriendly conversation from the chef behind the carvery who to say was unenthusiastic is an understatement - service with a smile? I think not. As we were eating we didn’t notice anything nice or special about the food aswell as an unpleasant stuffing. Throughout all this the staff who all appear to be about 15 years old or younger and also act that age were talking loudly right behind us and even one waitress proceeded to eat crisps and chocolate; unprofessional is an understatement, young staff aren’t a problem however staff who act around 10 years old are. We like the location very much but the Sunday carvery was diabolical. I hacked and hacked at my beef but wasn’t successful, I didn’t eat more than a sliver which was all I could cut. And that tiny bit was chewy and impossible to swallow. I ended up with veg only. This I could have enjoyed if there’d been a decent choice but it was incredibly unimaginative. Just carrots, swede and courgettes. On the whole a tasteless dinner. But they got our money! So they’re happy

Thought we'd give this one last try for a birthday meal. Kitchen and table service seemed to be run by a bunch of unenthusiastic, unsmiling teenagers so it was no surprise that the standard of the food has slipped even further. I ordered the salmon as I am on a diet - it was horrendous. A dry lump of fish, 4 tiny new potatoes and a salad so poor I actually laughed out loud - accompanied by a 'hollandaise' sauce that resembled Birds custard with a suitably scary crust. Should have sent it back but judging by other reviews it would have been a pointless exercise. Ate it as I was starving and was still starving afterwards but couldn't face the sauce - took it home to fill some holes in the garden wall. I don't care if this review gets a withering response - you know how substandard your food is but keep churning it out so 1 star is generous and this review is well-deserved.

Just visited on a Monday evening at 7ish. Very few in. In fact more young girl staff than customers it seemed. Was akin to schoolroom with giggles and chatter. I ordered a steak pie that arrived piping hot. Do hot in fact that it could not be eaten. The top layer of meat was burnt and like leather. Being a tad hungry I ate the lower layers, once they cooled sufficiently not to burn ones mouth. Once finished the plates were cleared and we were asked if we had enjoyed our meals. I said I hadn't and pointed to the evidence neatly laid out on the plate. Oh I'm so sorry said the waitress and left. She told no one in authority and promptly went back to discussing eyelashes with the rest of the class!

This pub seriously needs to stop serving pizza... we tried two and both were bland and cooked badly. The ingredients tasted cheap and lacking in any kind of quality. The landlady took almost a full pizza away and it was clear something was wrong but she chose not to ask- so I politely indicated it wasn't very good but all to no avail. Chips seemed to be more than tripple cooked and again soft, greesy, bendy and well overdone... not good!

Queuing, yes queuing half way across the car park for drinks for at least HALF AN HOUR, completely UNDER STAFFED....ridiculous when people do respect the no bringing your own drinks rule here, horrendous, the outside bar couldn’t cope either.

Called in on a Monday evening. A few customers were in the traditional bar area with open fire. We went in restaurant room, which was fairly quiet as midweek. We tried the Yorkshire Wrap with roast beef and the steak and ale pie. Good sized portions and reasonable price. Liked the Golden Ale - think it was the Amarillo, though can't remember to be honest. Will definitely return.

We have been to this pub for meals once a month for several years, when we visit our daughter and son in law and the two grand children who live in Melham, we went for a meal on Saturday 24/9/17 and i'm sorry to say it was the worst experience we have had in any eating place. The bar was taken up by a group of six local drunks who had no regards or consideration for the rest of the diners in the pub, shouting at the top of their voices, the manger made no attempt to ask them to calm down, in fact he was on good terms with the group, to try and have a conversation at our table was impossible. and to ruin the evening completely the food was of very poor quality, and expensive for what it was, needless to say we will not be going there again.

Family meal. More bar staff needed and some did appear somewhat stressed. I ordered the rack of ribs, they tasted lovely but were no where near hot enough. Good JD sauce. The corn on the cobs were inedible, boiled within in an inch! My husband enjoyed his beef burger, but overall, for the price of food, it’s nothing special. Most of the party were just ‘erm, it was okay’. Good price on a bottle of red wine and the food came out as we ordered, we they wanted us to pay at the bar due to party size. Main male staff member greeting as we walked in was friendly.

After a bracing walk around part of Digley Dam this was an ideal stop off to satisfy healthy appetites. It wasn't particularly busy so my friend and I were fortunate to select a table by the window to sample views of the surrounding countryside that the area is famous for. We both chose the regular Fish & Chips, good value at £12 though smaller portions are available at £9.50. My friend's Side Salad cost £4 which I thought expensive for what he received while a side order of Mushy Peas set him back £2. I thought the drinks were expensively priced, £2.90.for a pint of Fanta Orange but we'd visited for the Fish & Chips and these were delicious so it was definitely worth the effort. The menu is quite extensive so there are plenty of alternatives to satisfy most appetites and palates. A good experience.

We were so looking forward to our romantic valentine's evening. Sadly the previous reviewer has said most of it for us. Extortionately expensive, to be honest, for actually a less than mediocre meal which was not particularly enjoyable. It was obvious, from the occasional groans, the that something was very very wrong in the kitchen, even though front of house staff attemped to cover the cracks with gracious service. Also, yes it was far too cold. Have had lunch several times in this beautiful building, which have been very pleasant, although they really do need to sort out the heating problem.

We didn’t have much time so rather than go ti RMT Kitchen where our friends said parking is a nightmare, they suggested we hit Toby. We were seated and drink orders were taken and then nothing more happened so eventually I went over to a waitress and ordered the Ultimate Roast Dinner Sandwich for our son (just some carvery stuff in a roll or pud basically), and carvery for the two of us. We went to get it, meat was cold as well as most of the veg, and the sandwich never came. After about 20 minutes we asked for it and it had obviously been forgotten so she rushed off and got us an Ultimate Roast Beef Sandwich which is just some beef and gravy slapped on a roll. Honest misunderstanding so no big deal. We asked for a replacement, she took away the tray, manager showed to to ask about our issue, both said it would be sorted, again nothing for another 20 minutes, and we had to ask yet one more time to get a sandwich that was sloppy, but too hot to touch, and a bowl of cold gravy. Desert was fine, but the custard with the apple pie was again a tongue burner (nuked maybe?). When time to pay came, none of this had apparently discouraged the waitress from asking for a tip. She was lucky we were leaving that day and there to burn off no longer needed GBP so she got wholly underserved 6 quid for her efforts. Overall we lost more time waiting than it would have taken us as per our friends to find parking near RMT Kitchen, and the food was absolutely not worth it.
