Delicious impromptu visit for a breakfast roll and delicious coffee. I had the sausage and egg and my partner had the full breakfast roll. Delicious sausages and perfectly cooked fried egg. Paired with the delicious coffee and very friendly service. We will definitely be back again. Only negative is that you can’t book and it gets quite busy, but we were lucky to get a table when we arrived around 11:30 am

The Tea Room was recommended to us by a friend who is a regular customer. I looked at the recent reviews before visiting. Some of them were negative, but I kept an open mind. The Tea Room is set in open countryside with the option of sitting outdoors to enjoy the fresh air. Debra had a Pulled Pork sandwich (really nice), and I had the Pulled Beef & Onion with crunchy horseradish (it had a bit of a kick, and I could have done with more). Both sandwiches were good value for money, and we will order again (with extra horseradish). We shared a side order of proper chips, though the portion was on the small size (a few extra chips needed). The coffees were very strong, just how they should be, and very enjoyable after our lunch. Staff were pleasant and friendly, and we had a chat afterwards, saying we will definitely return. Well worth a visit.

Went to visit the farm shop for the first time today but sadly disappointed, the place is far too dark and badly laid out, the staff just didn't seem interested in engaging with the customers and the lady on the checkout was basically rude and miserable! Can't see any reason to visit again.

Not been here for a while and will be a while before we revisit. We were not booked but able to find a table. The place was quite busy. The menu is ok. Choices of variations on the full English plus a lot of breakfast sandwiches with various fillings. Orders are taken at the counter. The lady taking the order was very abrupt.. not customer friendly at all... indeed my wife said she was quite scary!! Service was pretty prompt. The meals were not brilliant. The bacon in both cases was chewy and dry... almost like it had been overcooked or left under the warmer too long. The poached eggs were hard. Sausages, black pudding etc were decent. Portion sizes were good. The staff had no communication with clients at all ...no 'how are you'? 'have you had a good day?' etc. No pleasantries whatsoever. Not a smile was to be seen! Coffee was decent however!

Visited the butchers counter recently, and found the service to be inadequate. The member of staff who served me seemed new to his position as handled meat products without gloves and appeared to have blood/dirty fingernails. Very off putting indeed. Declined service eventually and went to local supermarket instead

We've been coming to Thorncliffe for many years now but how it's changed. A woman called Luciano I do believe is very bossy and talks to staff and customers like dirt. We was seated and my wife wasn't happy because it was near the door and too cold for her with her been disabled. We asked to be moved and I heard her say to one of her staff well that's all we've got. She knew I'd heard her and she changed her tune l,but we'd heard enough and left. We won't be returning and neither will my family who spend lots of money there. Such a shame the other staff are lovely.

On entering we were told to wait . 3 tables free, Not reserved as you can’t book but told by waitress they were for tables of 4 ???? With us only being 2 we felt we weren’t wanted .Went up to order and served by a lovely waitress who was polite, courteous and happy. The older waitresses need to take a leaf out of her book. Ordered a small breakfast and Eggs Benedict an apple juice and a milkshake. Food was served promptly and was lovely however the milkshake didn’t get served until I’d nearly finished my meal. My 2 stars are for the chef and the young waitress the 3 zero stars are for the surly, unwelcoming and shambolic waitresses who were on duty on Saturday 7th October. Won’t be going back soon till service improves or I find some friends so I can sit on a table with 4 seats !!!!!!

Two weeks ago we had workers at home so we decided to go out for lunch. We both fancied a chip butty so we ordered two and tea for two with some extra hot water. The bill came to £11.55. The following day we decided to go back as we’d enjoyed the chip butty so we ordered the same. The bill came to £13.50 so we queried this and this is the response we got. The price of the chip butty on the menu was incorrect and the till was correct, an extra 10p each. We ordered as the previous day tea for two but what we got was two teas. There is a big difference in price. Then charged 50p for the extra hot water but could find nowhere where this was stated. We challenged the person in charge and the answer was that some people don’t always specify what tea they require and these are the prices they have to charge including the extra hot water. No apology and not even any offer of a part refund. We’ve visited the cafe on many occasions including the farm shop but never again.

Visited for coffee /cake on Bank Holiday Monday. My daughter and I had scones with jam and clotted cream, whilst my husband had what he described as 'the best bacon sandwich he'd had in years'. We then went and purchased some from the fabulous farm shop. The whole place is lovely; the staff are great, really down to earth and friendly. The farm shop has a great stock of fresh vegetables, ice cream, meat, pasties and ready meals! We were all very impressed. There are also gifts and plants (although £35 for a red squirrel seemed a little excessive!). All the food we saw looked great, loads of local produce and gin and we will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

I recently visited this cafe again for the second time, this time I fancied the breakfast but not keen on the black pudding, I asked the member of staff if an alternative to the black pudding was available (not all people like). I was abruptly told no but willing to take it off, for the price I find this appalling, infact two other people in the queue commented by saying well that answers my question then, asked a Friend if a bacon sandwich would do, as a business that just lost the shop nearly £40 if include my own order. Setting nice, food like Wetherspoons but 3 times the price

I’ve been visiting this gem of a farm shop each week since moving into the area last year. However, this morning’s visit has meant I won’t return. One staff member not wearing a mask or visor & another had hers tucked under her nose. There was also a shopper (who clearly knew all the shop workers as he was chatting to everyone) with no mask at all. No one seems to mind if masks are worn or not. All the butchers stood around chatting with no masks at all either. It’s a small shop with limited space so from a customer perspective it all felt uncomfortable and a little unsafe. What a shame - I wanted to shop local but will not return. It’s a great place, but needs to be better during these testing times at making customers feel safe.

Living locally my wife and I use this farm shop on a regular basis and it has been great to see them cope so well through the present crisis. The staff always make you feel welcome and are efficient in the way they manage the customers to make shopping safe.I have had to drop the rating slightly though because unfortunately one of their older butchers if you are unlucky to get him can be quite unhelpful. There is a reluctance from him to try and help when you explain that you are shopping for two. And so when we there this week we had to buy a shoulder of lamb that feeds six because he could not be bothered to cut it down for us. And the bacon we bought when we got home we found had not been wrapped properly and just folded with one of their small bags around it instead of being wrapped in the proper wrapping they have. And so to the older gentleman who wears glasses behind the butchers counter, take a look around you at your excellent colleagues and do as they do and put a genuine smile on your face to make customers feel welcome and not an inconvenience to you because we have always had excellent service from everybody else.It is a shame that just one person can spoil what otherwise is a great place to go and shop.

Managed to be seated quickly ,just pre lunch at one of the tables by the picture windows overlooking the valley. The food was excellent, the BBQ pulled pork sarnie was enough for two and the chips....... proper home cooked chips....... words fail me! The staff are lovely and eager to help. All together a fantastic experience. Amazing Food with a view to satisfy the soul. The farm shop is well worth visiting too.

Service is the shop was great but in the cafe it wasn't so good. Very good quality ingredients very poorly executed. Ordered eggs benedict bacon was really hard closer to cremated than crispy, poached aggs both hard and barely any sauce so the whole thing was really dry. The OH had the breakfast with similar results clearly quality products but everything overcooked. Given 3 on the basis of the produce and definitely not the service

Their web site states " we are happy to take reservations during the week" - (which we made by calling in during one of our weekly farm shop visits, and then confirmed and amended by 'phone first thing in the morning of our visit) - but what they fail to mention is that they then don't honour said reservation! So as the place was crowded beyond its capacity, and as we stood there in the doorway waiting for something to be sorted out, a couple behind us vacated their table before they'd even ordered. Alarm bells should have rung, but didn't, so we sat there and perused the menu, and then realised that it was bitterly cold with the arctic gale that rushed in every time the door was opened. This could really have been designed so much better. Even a glass screen would have helped enormously. We asked to be moved to another table that had just become vacant and then went to the counter to place our order. The first thing that "jarred" was other food orders and drinks being placed on the counter for service immediately in front of me, which I though was a bit unhealthy and exposed to any sniffles and viruses that could be lurking in the waiting queue. Once we'd ordered service was quite fast - my suspicion is "microwave fast" but even so my wife had to send her food back to the kitchen to be thoroughly heated. Food was adequate but unexciting. Views are good but place feels congested, noisy and cramped, tables are slow to be cleared and there's food debris left uncleared from the floor, and we won't be returning.

Popped in for brunch before heading off to Beverley. For a Monday at 10 am it was very busy even during Storm Ciara. We ordered two breakfast sandwiches which probably took a bit longer than expected, but as cooked fresh, was more than happy. In fact they arrived before the coffee and before the water, which never did. Flat white edging towards a latte if honest, but this seems to be standard where I have been going recently. The food was plentiful, very tasty, hot and the serving staff very friendly. Will be back as I had forgotten how good the food was.

I have visited here twice previously and after telling family how good this place was, I decided to take a day off work and bring them. On arrival we sat at our table, no table service here so 4 people got up separately to order. The drinks are not given to you and you are told they will be brought over later. One of the meals came out, no drinks still on our table. Two more meals came ten minutes later. Still no drinks. Finally the last meal came. Still no drinks. This was after a 50 minute wait. The drinks were finally brought over and i told the lady one was missing. My hot chocolate also looked nothing like the last time i came, no cream or toppings ( ridiculous for over £3).She went back over to the till and told the girl behind the till a drinks was missing. The young girl shouted "well did you ask them which drink is missing". At this point I got up and left the table and asked for a manager. I asked the manager to talk with me outside and explained that working in management in hospitality myself I was extremely dismayed at what i was witnessing. The young staff were not getting on with work. There were only 10 other customers in at the time. Most tables had dirty plates on from when we came in. A couple got up and asked for a cloth to wipe their table. The way the staff spoke about us infront of us was appauling. Surely the staff could check the ticket to see what drink was missing.

I’ve been here a couple of times and each time seems to get worse. It surprises me how their little attention to detail spoils the place and eventually drives people away. My wife ordered a cheese and onion toastie for lunch and that’s exactly what she got. No salad dressing or anything to make it worth having. It makes me realise that Shelley farm shop which is no more than 1.5-2 miles away is always jammed. When you ask for the same order there, you get the toastie which is piping hot, a side salad with coleslaw and crisps. And all for the same price I imagine.

The food we ordered was tasty but rather disappointing presentation, literally just a wrap with filling on a plate with some coleslaw. A lot of the burgers looked very beige and not particularly appetising. No colour, no salad to dress the plate. But as she now has mobility problems and needs to use a walking frame (and she has a blue badge) she finds it too hard to get to the cafe from the car park if we can’t get close enough. As there are no disabled parking spaces it is hit and miss if we can get a space close enough. Otherwise, we have go elsewhere and she misses out on her favourite steak and ale pie! The "batter" if you could call it that was a very dark brown and the fish was very dry, when I complained to the waitress she informed me they were bought on and re -cooked. Also 2 of my chips were completely raw. I would have thought a "special" should have been cooked from scratch by a chef. The tea room was immaculately clean, with a very good menu choice, with all food cooked and prepared to order. We opted for a giant pork pie served with mushy peas (fantastic pork pie), ham, cheese and tomato panini, and a tuna melt sandwich. Both sandwiches served with home made coleslaw, fresh salad, and home made chips. Finished off with a bottle of ‘Landlord’ ale. Wonderful team of Staff too.

Visited yesterday lunchtime. Packed so had to sit at table for two by door. Our coffee and sandwich arrived very quickly which did surprise me as they are notoriously slow. I did want to comment as other reviewers had complained over staff. In the past maybe but the young lady on yesterday was lovely and worked all the two hours we were there. Our cheesecake for after was divine. We did move tables when it quietened down as it was draughty. Only observation I would make was after leaving at 3 and going into shop when leaving we noticed chairs up on tables. Not good when 6 people were still in drinking. By co incidence a colleague commented that she took her mother in at 3.30 for coffee. Staff took two chairs down for them to sit on leaving rest up on tables. Not good atmosphere. 9 out of 10.

We stopped by for our anniversary lunch; it was busy, but we were served quickly. My husband had the lamb burger and enjoyed it, but the wedges that came with it were limp. I ordered the prawn salad, which was a huge disappointment. Firstly, the portion size for £8.95 was tiny and not worth the money at all. The salad consisted of a small amount of lettuce, one cherry tomato cut into quarters, a couple of slices of cucumber cut into strips and a sprinkling of onion - I asked for no peppers, but doubt that would have made a significant difference to the amount of food on my plate, (photo attached). It came with two standard medium slices of brown bread. There were shell remnants on the prawns too.

First time I came here, and it was perfect. Probably the best cooked breakfast I ever had! The sausage was very high quality, and all cooked to perfection!

As a regular customer to thorncliife tasting room, i am dissapointed with the staff members running it. After waiting 40 minutes for my steak burger, it came looking rather well done, however the cheese wasnt melted enough within the burger. The staff behind the counter was rude, and not welcoming at all. I was disspointed. In the farm shop i couldn't praise the butchers enough, welcoming customers with a smile and truly are a lovely set of people who are very helpful. A young lady called Lucy (from the shop) overheard my conversation about the cafe to my friend- she couldnt apologise enough for the experience and asked if i would like to make a futher complaint to mangament. At this moment in time i was angry, but as she was so understanding and helpful i thought i would leave the complaint,as she was such a caring young lady who genuinely wanted to make the experience better for us . The cafe needs more staff members like the butchers and shop members, always happy and smiling.

I took my elderly mother out. We visited the cafe. The tall girl serving us was cold and unwelcoming. She was sulky and and unprofessional. By way of example, we ordered a flap jack. It was handed to us in a packet. I asked for a plate. She said 'Do you actually want a plate? I said 'Yes". I thought, how naive, is my mother expected to eat it out of the bag? Next thing, the tall girl was laughing and flirting with two young men at a table outside. My mum said "Perhaps it's because I am old?". Needless to say, it wasn't the happy occasion for my mother. We won't be going back to Emily Farm shop.

Wow!! The Yorkshire pudding wrap is fabulous with chunky chips and thick beef gravy! Very busy place but I do have to agree with other reviewers, some of the younger staff were so miserable they just couldn’t be bothered which does leave a very bad impression.

Very friendly staff, great full English breakfast which was fast and hot and there was a beautiful view. Will definitely come back! You can visit the farm shop as well which is great, well stocked with fresh produce and some lovely pots.

Some of the staff (not all) should make the effort to cheer up a bit, especially with their 'welcome', as mentioned elsewhere in reviews.

Decided to call for a bite to eat whilst been in the area having noted on the menu for hot sandwiches 3pm deadline for serving 3.30pm for cold sandwiches .Having browsed the menu and decided our choice checked the time 3.20 pm headed to order only to be told we couldnt have any sandwiches as stopped serving at 3pm when i pointed to the menu and it stated 3.30pm for cold the young waitress asked other staff did they know it said in the menu 3.30pm for cold food then i was informed no persons were available in the kitchen the young waiter then informed me they would have to sort the menu out ?.This used to be a good place to eat 2 years ago not anymore Dearnleys Tea Room can win hands down !wont be coming here again !

We used the farm shop today and we were very disappointed by the attitude of the man who served the meat. My husband said he didn't want a particular piece of meat he was being offered and the member of staff dismissed his request and would not change it to another piece. We'll continue to use Blacker Hall Farm Shop. Didn't go there because of the roadworks in Flockton, but we won't let that put us off next time. The customer service is always friendly and very helpful there unlike this place!!! And it wasn't the first time we experienced this attitude from people behind the meat counter!

Visited this restaurant recently and had cause to complain about the food which we did via email, we received no response , re sent email, again no reply, not even a acknowledgement. Decided to give it another try, this time taking up seating in line with the kitchen area. Most of the food is reheated in the microwave and very little proper cooking seems to take place . At nearly £20 for a pulled pork and pulled beef sandwich, portion of chips and a couple cups of tea , I feel sure better value could be found else where with produce really cooked from scratch.

I ordered an English breakfast, as I'm allergic to eggs I asked if they could be swapped for hash browns - both items are available as an extra on the menu for the same price but they wouldn't do this - poor customer service.

With huge thanks to the folk of Thorncliffe Farm Shop, Emely Moor. For the the first time in my life my car was stuck in a snow drift (fierce wind blowing snow across the road): and they came out and spent time in the bitter cold with shovels and a four-wheel drive to kindly get me back on the road. Their cafe is deliciously great and their shop is excellent – but this help was really''above and beyond''. I don't know their individual names, but thank you so much for such good and helpful community spirit.

Family meal. More bar staff needed and some did appear somewhat stressed. I ordered the rack of ribs, they tasted lovely but were no where near hot enough. Good JD sauce. The corn on the cobs were inedible, boiled within in an inch! My husband enjoyed his beef burger, but overall, for the price of food, it’s nothing special. Most of the party were just ‘erm, it was okay’. Good price on a bottle of red wine and the food came out as we ordered, we they wanted us to pay at the bar due to party size. Main male staff member greeting as we walked in was friendly.

We were so looking forward to our romantic valentine's evening. Sadly the previous reviewer has said most of it for us. Extortionately expensive, to be honest, for actually a less than mediocre meal which was not particularly enjoyable. It was obvious, from the occasional groans, the that something was very very wrong in the kitchen, even though front of house staff attemped to cover the cracks with gracious service. Also, yes it was far too cold. Have had lunch several times in this beautiful building, which have been very pleasant, although they really do need to sort out the heating problem.

After a bracing walk around part of Digley Dam this was an ideal stop off to satisfy healthy appetites. It wasn't particularly busy so my friend and I were fortunate to select a table by the window to sample views of the surrounding countryside that the area is famous for. We both chose the regular Fish & Chips, good value at £12 though smaller portions are available at £9.50. My friend's Side Salad cost £4 which I thought expensive for what he received while a side order of Mushy Peas set him back £2. I thought the drinks were expensively priced, £2.90.for a pint of Fanta Orange but we'd visited for the Fish & Chips and these were delicious so it was definitely worth the effort. The menu is quite extensive so there are plenty of alternatives to satisfy most appetites and palates. A good experience.

We didn’t have much time so rather than go ti RMT Kitchen where our friends said parking is a nightmare, they suggested we hit Toby. We were seated and drink orders were taken and then nothing more happened so eventually I went over to a waitress and ordered the Ultimate Roast Dinner Sandwich for our son (just some carvery stuff in a roll or pud basically), and carvery for the two of us. We went to get it, meat was cold as well as most of the veg, and the sandwich never came. After about 20 minutes we asked for it and it had obviously been forgotten so she rushed off and got us an Ultimate Roast Beef Sandwich which is just some beef and gravy slapped on a roll. Honest misunderstanding so no big deal. We asked for a replacement, she took away the tray, manager showed to to ask about our issue, both said it would be sorted, again nothing for another 20 minutes, and we had to ask yet one more time to get a sandwich that was sloppy, but too hot to touch, and a bowl of cold gravy. Desert was fine, but the custard with the apple pie was again a tongue burner (nuked maybe?). When time to pay came, none of this had apparently discouraged the waitress from asking for a tip. She was lucky we were leaving that day and there to burn off no longer needed GBP so she got wholly underserved 6 quid for her efforts. Overall we lost more time waiting than it would have taken us as per our friends to find parking near RMT Kitchen, and the food was absolutely not worth it.
