The best restaurants serving British food in Kirklees Yorkshire and The Humber

First visit after many years { not for any particular reason ) The food was really good, fresh and warm. The staff very polite and friendly. I would def recommend a visit and we shall certainly be returning. I have however only given 4 stars because I asked for a coffee with an alternative milk substitute and was offered semi skimmed milk!! I asked again if they had soya or almond etc and they did not. Fortunately , for me, this was a preference and not an allergy otherwise no coffee...a bit poor this day and age I felt.

We heard that this pub had reopened under new management so decided to give it a try. Completely different ambience to last time we visited. Both our meals, Fish Pie & Belly Pork were lovely. Vegetables were plentiful & well cooked. Next time we will try Sunday Lunch. It is so nice to have a local pub with good food not fast food. We will definitely be back very soon

This place does not disappoint! The portions are good. The food is great, we have been many times, more often in large groups and not one person has ever had an issue with their meal! The bar area is also really cosy, dog friendly, and the staff are super friendly, Laurene especially. The staff were consistently attentive & very accomodating. Would diffinatley recomend this pub.

The employees are really friendly and approachable, the food is on point and the drivers are always on time. Would definitely recommend this fabulous takeaway

The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Some elements of the food are not always good. On the whole not bad for the price .

Absolutely brilliant. Varied Sunday menu which suited all eleven of us from a four year old to a seventy year old! The staff were attentive and welcoming. Great visit 👍🏼

Lovely pub with a vibrant atmosphere. Food is amazing and good value for money and the staff are very friendly definitely worth a visit.

It's so much fun to be able to rotate between four fun bars all in one.

My wife booked us both for a 25 minute treatment which actually only consisted of 15 minutes. When we asked the girls we was told the 25 minutes included the consultation. Which we were shocked at there rude response. Be aware that you are paying for 25 minutes but that's not what you will receive in our experience. I'm posting this so other couples don’t feel as deflated & cheated.

Lovely atmosphere and amazing surroundings area definitely a Huddersfield hidden gem , would definitely come back again if I'm am in the area

The Sun Inn was our lunch venue on a day when two parts of the family met up at the 'mid-point' between Glossop and Harrogate (sort of). Our plans to visit Howarth had been aborted at the last minute when the lunch venue rang to advise us they had had a catastrophe with their fridges and all food was off (quite literally I suppose). So my son (from the Glossop end) hastily researched when we could meet for lunch, and what we could do afterwards. The Sun Inn looked good in the photos and is a short distance from the Yorkshire Sculpture Park where we planned to go afterwards. Well what a pleasant surprise! The Sun is very welcoming, dog friendly, and there is a play area outside of which my granddaughters both took advantage. The food was exceptional, and all freshly home made. One of our number is a vegetarian and she said it was so good to have such a choice of vegetarian food. In fact so appetizing did the Mushroom Wellington sound, that I had that instead of a conventional meat based Sunday roast - it was delicious. For those with more conventional Sunday roast ideas, check out the positively mountainous Yorkshires. The portions are generous, reasonably priced, and the service is very attentive and friendly. The walk at YSP afterwards was necessary to get rid of a few calories.

Visited this pub last night with some friends who live local. It’s a gorgeous village pub and the staff and customers are really friendly. I was made to feel really welcome and would definitely recommend this pleasant hidden gem.

Family meal. More bar staff needed and some did appear somewhat stressed. I ordered the rack of ribs, they tasted lovely but were no where near hot enough. Good JD sauce. The corn on the cobs were inedible, boiled within in an inch! My husband enjoyed his beef burger, but overall, for the price of food, it’s nothing special. Most of the party were just ‘erm, it was okay’. Good price on a bottle of red wine and the food came out as we ordered, we they wanted us to pay at the bar due to party size. Main male staff member greeting as we walked in was friendly.
