Popped in for an after dinner drink in this local pub. Pleasant wood and brick interior with an open fire in the centre between bars. Comfy seats and a choice of table, it was quiet on arrival but started ti fill up as we ere leaving Sensible priced drinks and the service was polite and helpful. Beer garden outside and adequate parking available.

Absolutely love this pub. It’s a proper pub and although I’m not a bitter drinker, I’m told the ale is great. The outside area is fab in the sunshine and the inside is equally as cosy for the rest of the year. The staff are friendly and welcoming. All in all a great pub to wile away the hours!

We stopped off in the middle of a long walk at about 1 o'clock on Sunday lunchtime. I knew there would be no food, but it was disappointing that there was not even a cup of coffee. There was also no toilet paper or towels of any sort in the Ladies. I can't help feeling it was a missed opportunity.

Good selection of ales and lagers. Nice atmosphere in the pub, very welcoming and friendly, and with the weather as it has been, a very welcome large beer garden area to drink outside and enjoy the sun from. On this visit they were serving burgers from an outside kitchen which is a welcome addition to the pubs offering. Deffo a favoured local. 👍🏻

We called in on Thursday lunchtime as a midway stop for a 15 mile walk and were hoping to get lunch. Unfortunately, they no longer serve food, however my husband had a pint of the real ale and enjoyed the drink and I had white wine spritzer - the barmaid was very friendly and made us feel very welcome.

Called in for a drink with an old school mate visiting Yorkshire from his home in Kent. Now Kent is supposed to be a county where fine ales are brewed. After sampling a few of the beers on offer he avowed that he hadn't had beer as good in Kent. Enough said.

Visited here today with family and kids after a long walk. Kids were stocked up with pop and crisps and sat behind us enjoying themselves. Out of nowhere comes (presumably) the landlord in a very aggressive manner, who shouted at the kids to get off the furniture. As far as we were aware, they weren't causing any bother, were not disturbing anyone and most certainly were not damaging anything. Hard to in a pub with just basic wooden table and chairs. Landlord didn't even speak to us, just shouted at kids and walked off. Went to bar for another round a few mins later and had the barmaid abruptly point out that one of the kids had taken their shoes off and must put them back on in case someone 'smashed a glass'. Fine, but the fact that we were sat a good way from the bar which obviously suggested that we were being singled out. I totally understand that some people don't like kids in pubs and I am very conscious of that. Hence the reason we were in there at 1pm. Upshot is they obviously don't want kids in there, so be mindful of that if visiting.

I called in this pub after hearing great reviews. A group of us decided to call in to see what all the fuss was about. One of my friends was driving so asked for a 125ml glass of wine (small). The rude lady behind the bar said they do not offer a small serving of wine however my friend has experience of working in the trade and advised that by law every public house must offer a small serving for those who are driving. The lady obviously thought she knew best and was extremely rude and refused to serve this drink. Lost 8 good drinkers there. Will not return.

We go regularly on a weekend as a family. We choose the middle of the afternoon when it isn't too busy and sit in a quiet part of the pub. Our kids are well behaved and no trouble. The staff are friendly and welcoming but for some reason the Landlord can't help but nag at us. He dislikes our van in the car park so we park nearly a quarter of a mile away and walk. He dislikes it if our kids move any of the seating and he dislikes it if they choose not to sit with us. He doesn't seem to mind having a load of smelly dogs in his premises though. Such a shame! We love this pub but I think we will have to start spending our money elsewhere. I wonder what the Brewery would make of this?

Having discovered the whereabouts of my grandfather byusing census returns, his address was Lower Hopton, nearMirfield, in 1901. I chose a Bank Holiday weekend to visitthe villeg where he lived close to his place of work which wasMirfield railway station. My second day took me for a walk alongthe nearby River Calder, and my first port of call on the Sundaywas The Flower Pot which is situated beside the River Calder. The landlord has a vast collection of china flower tea pots whichmust be unique in any pub on this island. The pub served Sunday lunch and so with an excellent pint of local ale had steak and kidney pie with mashed potatoes and lovely hot rich dark brown gravy, with stock. The pub became very busy, so I didnot stay long after enjoying a second pint. I could have easilystayed much longer but did want to see the nearby village.Ample car parking space for motorised customers. I wouldlove to return at a future date.Geoffrey E. The new A Board outside advertises home made food served from 12-4pm Monday to Saturday (previously only pie and peas available), so decided to have lunch there. There is good car parking and the beer garden to the rear has been extended with new benches and fencing. There are impressive floral displays in hanging baskets, troughs and pots. New menu has wide selection of toasties with two fillings of your choice (small charge for extra fillings) and comes with coleslaw and side salad. Also available is soup, baguettes, pies with chips/peas and vegetarian options. Usual fine choice of real ales.

Family meal. More bar staff needed and some did appear somewhat stressed. I ordered the rack of ribs, they tasted lovely but were no where near hot enough. Good JD sauce. The corn on the cobs were inedible, boiled within in an inch! My husband enjoyed his beef burger, but overall, for the price of food, it’s nothing special. Most of the party were just ‘erm, it was okay’. Good price on a bottle of red wine and the food came out as we ordered, we they wanted us to pay at the bar due to party size. Main male staff member greeting as we walked in was friendly.

We were so looking forward to our romantic valentine's evening. Sadly the previous reviewer has said most of it for us. Extortionately expensive, to be honest, for actually a less than mediocre meal which was not particularly enjoyable. It was obvious, from the occasional groans, the that something was very very wrong in the kitchen, even though front of house staff attemped to cover the cracks with gracious service. Also, yes it was far too cold. Have had lunch several times in this beautiful building, which have been very pleasant, although they really do need to sort out the heating problem.

After a bracing walk around part of Digley Dam this was an ideal stop off to satisfy healthy appetites. It wasn't particularly busy so my friend and I were fortunate to select a table by the window to sample views of the surrounding countryside that the area is famous for. We both chose the regular Fish & Chips, good value at £12 though smaller portions are available at £9.50. My friend's Side Salad cost £4 which I thought expensive for what he received while a side order of Mushy Peas set him back £2. I thought the drinks were expensively priced, £2.90.for a pint of Fanta Orange but we'd visited for the Fish & Chips and these were delicious so it was definitely worth the effort. The menu is quite extensive so there are plenty of alternatives to satisfy most appetites and palates. A good experience.

We didn’t have much time so rather than go ti RMT Kitchen where our friends said parking is a nightmare, they suggested we hit Toby. We were seated and drink orders were taken and then nothing more happened so eventually I went over to a waitress and ordered the Ultimate Roast Dinner Sandwich for our son (just some carvery stuff in a roll or pud basically), and carvery for the two of us. We went to get it, meat was cold as well as most of the veg, and the sandwich never came. After about 20 minutes we asked for it and it had obviously been forgotten so she rushed off and got us an Ultimate Roast Beef Sandwich which is just some beef and gravy slapped on a roll. Honest misunderstanding so no big deal. We asked for a replacement, she took away the tray, manager showed to to ask about our issue, both said it would be sorted, again nothing for another 20 minutes, and we had to ask yet one more time to get a sandwich that was sloppy, but too hot to touch, and a bowl of cold gravy. Desert was fine, but the custard with the apple pie was again a tongue burner (nuked maybe?). When time to pay came, none of this had apparently discouraged the waitress from asking for a tip. She was lucky we were leaving that day and there to burn off no longer needed GBP so she got wholly underserved 6 quid for her efforts. Overall we lost more time waiting than it would have taken us as per our friends to find parking near RMT Kitchen, and the food was absolutely not worth it.
