Went to the Trav Fest. Various singers and bands provided for free. Great atmosphere and a good day out. The pub itself is always friendly and has excellent service. Nice beers and good food available.

Great food at resistable prices.

Tried here today for the first time, and had Sunday lunch. It was delicious! Lovely food, great kids menu, reasonable prices, and the benefit of a stunning beer garden with a bouncy castle for our daughter. We will be back. What a hidden gem!

4 generations of my family (13 adults and 2 children) met up for my post birthday get-together and meal. Everything was PERFECT - staff, organisation, service, food , drink and the weather!! Thank you everyone!

Just had Father’s Day Sunday lunch here. We’ve never been before but the service was spot on - attentive thoughtful without being overbearing. The food was well portioned, fresh tasty and well cooked! Highly recommended. My dad even got a free drink. Thank you again!

A rustic country pub nr Mirfield. We went for a party so it was buzzing and busy, hence the great atmosphere. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food. Plenty of outside tables and great views which would be lovely on a sunny day.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch today, great local pub. We're a family of 4 with a 3 & 1 year old, it can sometimes be a nightmare going out but ive always felt very comfortable here and the girls love it pretty much clearing their plates every time we come. The kids meals are really decent portions and the prices are even better. The sunday lunches are good portion size veg served separate and able to dish out yourself which I prefer & the meat was cooked perfectly (wouldn't of even needed to use a knife for my beef!). Staff very friendly, helpful & welcoming.

We had a gorgeous roast dinner here the other week! Food was all fresh and locally sourced and cooked to perfection. So we'll priced too. Can't wait to come back!

Good pensioners menu and good value for money. 2 course's for £.7-20 it's good if you don't have a big appetite.

Family get together had a lovely meal my sister wanted beef which would be raw which they couldn't do which was the only negative,. Would definitely recommend the food.

This is a nice place to stop at for a drink and some food. We ordered the lasagne this time but we also enjoy the fish and chips too. Staff are very welcoming and offer a friendly service.

First time we've been for a Sunday lunch at the Travellers and I have to say it was a 1st class meal. We certainly will return.

When my friend got assaulted by a man in the bar area, I told the landlady and she laughed in my face, didn’t ask for any details and walked away from me. She later approached me shouting at me (her friend held her back assuming she was about to grab me, so perhaps something similar has happened before?). It came to light that the man in question was the landlady’s husband. Absolutely no sympathy or apology. Very disappointed as we had an adequate evening leading up to this point.

Brilliant night! Thought the place would be rammed on mad Friday but it was nicely busy with very attentive staff! Great food great night!

Very nice place for a drink, good parking and lovely views the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Tapas was very nice but I was not sure about the nachos the cheese sauce tasted a bit like custard. All said and done I would definitely visit again :)

Went for a friend's birthday party. Service was impeccable. Food for the party was really good. We're definitely going to visit again for a meal in the near future.

This visit was for a music festival.plenty of tables and chairs outdoors with some cover in case of rain .band were good a d made to feel welcome by staff and regulars .

Having to compete with a wedding party and the premier League football on the next table with 7/8 drunken men is not how to spend a Saturday night out. The food was excellent but the service was awful. Even ordering food and drinks at the bar was rubbish. We tried to pay our bill of over £90 pound but couldn't get anyone to take it! Had to wait over 10 minutes at the bar before being seen to. Won't be going again for a while.

We were staying at an Airbnb down the road. This was the closest place. We had a tasty meal that was reasonably priced. The best part was the warm and friendly staff. From booking on the phone to every interaction, they were so friendly. It felt like a 'local' and yet as outsiders we were welcome. It would be great to sit outside - if not for the rain!

Great local pub. We went for a special occasion and all had Sunday Roast. Food was lovely. They even brought out extra veg for us. We had one person in a wheelchair and this was accommodated. Nice atmosphere and staff were great! Attentive and efficient. Great dessert choices too. Hard to choose which to have.

We booked for a group of 11 people for a Sunday roast meal and the service was absolutely fantastic.

Nice choice of food explained well on menu, top quality food cooked to perfection. Friendly and polite staff with adequate parking. Easy access from Huddersfield or dewsbury. Disabled access is exceptional. Atmosphere is Friendly and warm. Wide range of alcoholic and alcohol free beverages. Outside seating children and dogs welcome. Toilets clean. Country side setting with rustic decor.

Called in today had small plates on the menu. Mushrooms were frozen in the middle.If a chef can't warm mushrooms up it's a major problem. The other food was cold.Half the food order was wrong.NEVER AGAIN just glad we didn't have meat!!!

Went for lunch yesterday (Good Friday). The whole experience was ruined by the extremely, and I mean, extremely slow service . . . both for main courses and desserts. We had to ask for the bill and then gave up waiting for someone to come and let us pay it! We made our own way to the bar. The ice cream sundae did not have the custard in it either. Apparently they had run out . . . well we should have been told. Such a pity as it was a lovely location and ambience.

First visit for our group of 8 + dog and I have to say it was brilliant, our regular Wednesday family food club were made very welcome by the staff, the food was excellent, the atmosphere is extremely comfortable and the prices are bellow average of what our group has paid in other places we visit. We will definitely be returning and next time plan to stay for the pub quiz, a big thank you to all the staff it was nice to see happy faces at their work.

Went in with my family and our pet dog, sat down to a table which was apparently reserved, had no reservation on table, told to move.. dogs roaming around off their leads everywhere.. land lady does not seem to care.. put my dog in the car who was on a lead because other dogs would not leave us alone.. finished our drinks.. never to go back.. such a shame its literally gone to the dogs...

Landlady not friendly, turned my wife (who she knows has dementia) away when she chose to sit at an empty table in the bar area with myself and dog. We left never to return.

Had a celebration for 14 ladies on Friday 9th Dec , we all had 3 courses of the Christmas Menu , all food was absolutely gorgeous, not a complaint off any of us , even with such a big group , all food came out hot , and was beautiful. Presented very well , and the staff were a credit to the pub . We eat here quite a bit and they certainly did not let us down .

First time eating here in years four of us had the roast dinners with veg, between four of us we were given one small terrine of veg, a tiny dollop of mash and two slices of thinnest sliced beef you can imagine. It tasted good but expected a bit more for the price. Kids meal was a microwave pizza which she didn't eat much of.

Went for Sunday lunch, the food was lovely. Staff very friendly. The atmosphere in the pub was good. It’s a few years since our last visit and still a lovely place to eat. Won’t be leaving long till our next visit.

Booked in for 10 people for a Sunday dinner, service was great as was the food, and all for a very reasonable price, will definitely go again.

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime to celebrate my mums 90th. There were 19 of us and the service was excellent. Food served in a timely fashion and everyone enjoyed what they had. We were allowed to use the upper dining area which we decorated. A big thank you to our waitress who took it all in her stride. Always very accommodating. The value is tremendous. Thank you again!

My wife and I had a Fabulous 3course meal I had prawn salad my wife had garlic mushrooms with Stilton cheese Main course I had roast beef with vegetables and a roast potato with mash and Yorkshire pudding My wife had Turkey with vegetables and a roast potato and Yorkshire pudding All with beautiful Gravy. Then I had Treacle sponge and custard My wife had chocolate fudge cake with cream and ice cream. I must say it was very nice indeed. My wife and I will most definitely be going back.

The food and staff are excellent. Soft drinks are seriously priced in line with other venues in the area. Staff are still under training post CV19.

We went for Dinner on 14thAugust after booking a table by telephone, and arrived early and received a warm welcome, after a quick drink we went and sat at our table and ordered our food. Very quick service food cooked to perfection and tasted lovely, very reasonably priced and as usual everything was lovely.

Went to the Wednesday night quiz for the first time Such a great evening. Interesting quiz, bonus free cocktail questions and complimentary pizza and chips. It is a lovely pub with a great menu that we intend to try

Went on Sunday evening. Had the roast dinner. We were asked if we'd like beef or turkey or both? Had both! Mine and my husband's plates were clean. That says it all. Home made soup was also delicious as were my husband's chicken gougons. The staff are lovely. They make you feel really welcome and nothing is too much trouble. We've booked for a large family meal to celebrate birthdays in a couple of months but we'll be back before then. Highly recommend.

We hadn't been to The Travellers Rest since before lockdown and we were impressed. The pub has a lovely location if you visit on a sunny day and can enjoy the food and drinks whilst sitting outside. The beer was good and we were impressed with the upmarket pub food that we were served. We will be back

We had a belated family celebration to welcome our son and his wife back from New Zealand after not being able to attend their wedding in February due to travel restrictions. Jan and her team were amazing from start to finish. Lovely outdoor space and brilliant buffet.

Friendly wait staff, fantastic food. Will happily go again! Update: good sized beer garden to enjoy the sunny summer weather in. Food is still as good as it was last time I went. Good pub lunch experience all around
