The food was amazing and delicous.

The Foxglove is a wonderful place to visit. We love going to eat there often and the food is always amazing. The staff are really welcoming and the service is fabulous

We had a wonderful family lunch here Sunday 22nd Dec, two adults and two tweens. It's probably been over 20 years since I visited The Foxglove so we thought we would venture somewhere further afield than normal and it didn't disappoint! It was busy with festive gatherings but not overly crowded and we were greeted by a really friendly server and shown to a lovely table in the dining area. The atmosphere was really cosy and our server Tom was really helpful, checking dishes for us and even bagging up a doggy bag afterwards for our dog Rupert back home! It was really nice to see that even though it was busy there were plenty of staff available which meant they weren't rushing around or leaving anyone waiting for ages. The meals themselves were delicious, all came out together and piping hot which was really good! My wife and I had starters of Paté and a mushroom fondue which were really tasty (the paté was particularly good), then for mains the kids had the signature burger, I had their pie of the day- chicken and pancetta, and my wife had the trio of Sunday dinner. There was plenty of food for all of us, well worth the prices and it was all really delicious, not a single complaint from the kids and our only negative was the parsnips on the Sunday lunch could have been a bit smaller(!) Also the beef was a little tough. Overall though just a really pleasant meal out for us all before Christmas shenanigans start. Will definitely be going back again! Can't give any rating for the rooms as only dined.

Stayed overnight for a family event, was exactly what we needed, good service.

Had lunch yesterday. The belly pork off the festive menu was delicious and we received excellent service from Grace. Will definitely be visiting again soon!

Staff were very warm and friendly. Room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We had a family room and both beds were exceptional. We are on the pub and food here was also lovely. Breakfast was pricey but it was delicious.

The Foxglove is a cosy place with love for details. The bar, with its hospitable style, open fireplaces, and cosy equipment, invites you to linger. The food is excellent and the service is top. The rooms are clean, tidy, and well equipped. Breakfast is freshly prepared and offers a wide enough choice. All in all, I am very satisfied and have a clear recommendation.

its always a pleasant atmosphere when we visit but this was our 1st time in the evening and it was just lovely . the staff are excellent ,making sure the fire was burning , taking orders when they noticed we had finished drinks . after finishing our meal we asked for the tab to be moved from our dining table to the sofa area and they were very accommodating. will be calling again :)

The breakfast took 30 minutes to arrive, it was inedible, uncooked, looked like someone had a bad cold and emptied their sinuses over the plate. Never again.

Six of us there last night for our grandson's 8th birthday and served by Grace. She was fabulous. Polite, friendly, helpful, courteous and professional. We all said, that was the best service in a restaurant we had received in years. And the food was great too.

We visited on Wednesday as a party of 8. Even though we arrived about 45 mins early our table was ready and as always we were not disappointed by our visit (this isn’t our first time at The Foxglove). Grace dealt with our chaos fantastically! Needless to say we didn’t make her life too easy (numerous members of our party shouting ‘soup’ at her) rather than adhering to the usual structure of politely going around the table giving our orders. Needless to say she stayed composed, we had a good laugh with her and she was an absolute credit to the business throughout our stay. As always we just wanted to share our amazing experience, and show our gratitude. The food is always exquisite, the portion sizes are more than enough, and the overall setting of the environment and polite professionalism of staff is always fantastic. As mentioned above, we’ve been here many times before and we’ll be back again in the near future! Thanks again to Grace and the rest of the team whom were on shift!!

Didn't stay overnight but had a meal for daughter's graduation. Lovely food, great atmosphere and service from Grace was excellent.

Two nights with breakfast (even full English breakfast included) to complete satisfaction. Rooms clean and spacious, staff very friendly, pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended. The only suggestion for improvement: offer postcards for tourists 😉👍🏼

Exceptional service from our server Tom, couldn’t help us enough we swapped seats due to my wife being pregnant which was no bother at all and kept checking in on us! He’s a wonderful asset to the team. Lovely room and a comfortable nights stay. Would definitely visit again.

I stay at the foxglove regularly for business and always review a very warm welcome. Shanane who runs breakfast service is very friendly and gives 10/10 service.

Warm welcome, great service and food. I really enjoyed my time here and rooms were very modern aswell as clean. Dog friendly. Shanane really went out of her way at breakfast to makesure we had everything the way we liked it. See you next year.

We had recently travelled from Australia to Yorkshire to spend a couple of weeks with my Aunty who is elderly and disabled and our trip to the Foxglove was the only time she could get out of her home. The red headed girl did an amazing job of looking after the 3 of us so much that my Aunty gave her a five quid tip. My wife, Aunty and I were most impressed by the service and quality of the food we will be there again next year .

Portions well sized, food well cooked. Grace served us throughout and was a treasure to talk to. Wish more staff at other venues were as thoughtful and efficient as she was

This was not a good experience. We had previous attended a wedding reception there and were very impressed. But this was so different. We were excited about going but the reality was very different to our expectations. On arrival, we were shown promptly to our table and a drink order was taken. However this took ages to deliver. On delivery a food order was taken but this took over an hour. The waitress tried to explain the delay by saying that a large party had come in and every table was being delayed. Then the meal arrived and what a disappointment. My potatoes were under cooked and hard as nails. My vegetables were overcooked and very stringy and hard to cut. My meat was slightly better than ok and passable. At the end of my meal I did notice that ic the other six people in our party, most had left large portions of their meal. Overall, a very disappointing couple of hours, a very poor meal, and an experience that will be long remembered. I would not recommend your facility to anyone.

Really pleasantly surprised! We booked a one night stay to attend a wedding in the area and the Foxglove was great. We were greeted warmly, allowed early access to our room to get changed and the room was spotless and comfortable. We didn't book breakfast but decided we had time after all and were rewarded with some of the tastiest and generous bacon butties we have ever eaten. Thanks for a great stay

Stayed overnight and used adjoining restaurant for dinner. Food was excellent. Generous portions and hot. Staff were great. Breakfast was perfect. Manager was lovely and chatty.

Ate at the restaurant and mediocre was probably too good a description. The pancetta and chicken pie was tasteless, had no ham and looked like a typical ‘Brakes Brothers’ pre-prepared and warmed up meal. Like airline economy class food. Same for the veg which were also tasteless. My companions had aubergine gratin which was ok but ‘gloopy’ and duck/hoisin pizza which was the most edible. Service was good, quick and polite. Not going back there anytime soon

Lovely food. Nice and rustic. Plenty of toys to keep the children entertained. Hannah served us and was very attentive. Only thing that stopped me giving a rating of 5 was the small selection of bitters. For a Yorkshire pub, I’d have expected at least 5 different taps.

Hannah and the team at dinner were amazing, friendly and approachable. Food was very tasty and not over cooked so nice one chef. Area is quiet and just a brilliant location for a garden drink after a long day.

Had the pleasure of staying and eating at the Fox Glove for a second time. The rooms are a good size comfortable and clean. The food and service is fantastic. We were a party of 9 celebrating a birthday in the private room Grace was very understanding and patient and the food was yummy.

Great place to visit for food or just a drink. Team are really friendly and can't do enough for you!

Booked this hotel mainly because the room sizes were a decent and the price seemed reasonable. As a lady who likes a bath I missed having one, but a lot of hotels these days don't offer baths. The staff at the Foxglove were excellent, friendly and helpful. The Innkeeper information, says no WiFi l, bonus there was wifi, although it was hit and miss, but as I wasn't expecting any, I can't complain. We ate in the resturant and the food was nice, a bit pricey, but not unrealistic for the market it's aiming at. Would visit again. Well done to Matts Team.

Sunday roast is unrivalled, absolutely delicious. Nice range of starters too. Service perhaps slightly on the slow side but not enough to complain at. Please being back the banoffee pie desert. It was my favourite and I miss it!

Just home from another lovely meal at The Foxglove, we were attended to by the lovely Hannah, who was extremely professional and courteous throughout our meal.

Had a lovely meal this evening while staying over. Food was excellent, portion sizes were great and service with Grace and Hannah was fantastic, very friendly and attentive throughout. Can't fault them.

Love the Vintage Inns and this one is always welcoming and has tasty food. It’s a bit pricey but for a special occasion or a treat then it’s a great place to go.

I was part of a large group of people in for a pre booked breakfast. I had a veggie breakfast. After waiting for some time (understandable due to the group size) my veggie breakfast arrived. Insulting was an understatement. There was so little on the plate you could have put it in a small bowel. I exaggerate not when I say I had 4 small mushrooms. And the veggie patty was nice but no way could be compared to the meat option on 2 sausages and 2 bacon. There was no additional egg or hash browns. I'm guessing the chefs/menu creator had something against vegetarians. The waiters/waitresses were fantastic to be fair and the location is lovely.

Clean rooms and restaurant, nice decor, friendly staff. The food is very good! We had lunch and breakfast and it was well cooked, very tasty and good quality. Downsides: only filter coffee or tea included in the paid for breakfast and outside there the tables / benches are not swept or wipes so the table are dirty with a lot of cigarettes which isn’t pleasant.

Won't be going back I'm afraid! Veg hard, not proper Roast potatoes, they were boiled new potatoes then put in oven no taste to them some burnt, gravy wasn't or didn't taste like meat juice gravy puds not good either. My lamb very red. It used to be fab there. Not a patch on Spencers but there were no tables so thought we'd go back to Foxglove but not again. However Staff very polite.

Not very happy with the food this evening. Forgot part of the order which is never good when you have already eaten half of the meal and then they bring the rest out that had been forgotten. Next time you take an order try not to do it by memory! Use the tablets provided to take the order and don't try to be clever by saying you can memories it. It's frustrating enough not getting an integral part of a meal. The food wasn't good that did arrive especially the fish and chips. Over cooks and dry made the fish chewy and hard. Member of staff that had taken the order then couldn't even listen when it came to the desert order, sticky toffee had been microwaved, hot in the middle and cold on the outside. Overall it had a feeling of pop and ping cooking with a over cooked and spoilt lamb dish. Not something I would attempt again and certainly not cheap.

Recently came with my partner for a drink and a meal, food was beautiful and service provided by Jordan was outstanding- friendly, polite and made us feel very welcomed!

We visit regularly however on this occasion would like to highlight excellent service from Olivia. She really went over and above and really added to our evening, well done.

We ate here with friends, we were served by Olivia she was very lovely, attentive and friendly. The food was great we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The bar area and gardens are lovely. We will definitely go back.

Me and my family called here to eat a meal. I ordered the lamb dinner but when it arrived it was beef. I asked the young man if he could change it and he was friendly enough. He came back with the same plate and said the cook had told him to bring it back as it was lamb. It was not so I asked the young man to get the cook to taste it. I was smiling and still in a good mood at this point, a few moments later an older woman came out and put the plate infront of me with attitude and said this is lamb in a very matter of fact way. I looked at the plate and this time I instantly saw it was so I said now it is thank you. She then started to argue with me at my table infront of the other diners insisting it was lamb all along. It wasn't. She even took a fork and turned my food over infront of me like I was a child. At this point I got upset and told her that the meat I sent back was cut in half and the meat infront of me was new with no straight cuts. She then in a very loud voice said well now you can see it's lamb and walked away. I was so embarrassed. Instead of saying sorry and changing it the staff made me look like a difficult customer when actually until the older lady came out I was smiling and joking with the staff. I will not be going here again. I also think that for the price the food should at at least look like it's not been microwaved. The up side was that the dog food was perfect.

Food and service always great here. Well that was 10 months ago. Today though, cold chips, uncooked batter, garlic prawns with no oil (but toast to dip in the no oil) Another pub off our list. Server was friendly though although only 2 people on and you do have to wait a while! No new photos

Gutted I have to change this review as this place was 5 stars for me, we came hear for a long time every Thursday evening before swimming with my 2 daughters, food was smashing, we have come in today, my regular steak sandwich was stone cold, my child's eggs were also half cold half warm, and you have stopped doing the honey pot deserts which is what Brought us hear in the first place absolutely gutted, I dont no what has changed over the past few months but please change it back 😢 that said your staff are lovely very welcoming, it's down to the quality of food the place is still lovely but I don't think we would come back after what we was served.

Did a job with excellent staff. Not as 'rural' as photos and description suggest. A lot of noise at night from other guests.

A great place to stay. All the staff were really helpful but a particularly big thank you goes to Mandy for looking after us and making the stay of the younger members of our family party really special.

Out for a drive, with the intention of having lunch at another venue, which turned out to be hosting a party. We sought another place to eat, and just a short drive away was The Foxglove. Halumi, onion rings, pizza, and homemade pie were our choice. All very nice. The homemade pie came with two enormous slices of carrot. Tasty, if a bit odd looking. Anyway, the staff were welcoming and pleasant, and we were pleased we ended up there.

Had a lovely lunch in the Fox Glove in Huddersfield… the place was clean, dog friendly with brilliant service and great food

We liked the atmosphere and the fact that where we were sitting we could not hear the music so we could talk without having to shout. The staff were reasonably efficient and didn't keep us waiting long between courses. I ordered the coffee with a mini dessert expecting them to arrive together. Unfortunately the coffee arrived first and I had finished it before my dessert arrived. Coffee should be with the dessert or after but not before. There isn't much choice as far as vegetarian meals are concerned. My meal was extremely disappointing - the vegetables were luke warm, the flaky pastry was stodgy and tough - very difficult to cut - and the root vegetable filling was stodgy with an unpleasant texture. I mentioned this to the waitress who offered me a different meal but what was the point? My mother would have finished hers by the time I got mine. She offered me a free dessert which I did accept. I've been to The Foxglove several time and always had a delicious and well cooked vegetarian meal. I hadn't been for a while, though, and was ;looking forward to my meal. Unfortunately I was very disappointed

Just want to thank all the staff working last night. We arrived as a party of 13 for my son’s 18th. The room at the back reserved for us was beautiful and well set out. We were given the perfect amount of time to browse the menu. The orders were taken 💯 spot on and we were all served at the same time - which can be tricky with a large table! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and the ambience. We weren’t rushed and was left to enjoy our celebrations. We were conscious that we may have been the last ones in but nobody pressured us and it really was appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the staff both in front of house and behind the scenes - fabulous team and can’t wait to come back !! The Bowden family.

Been here a few times&wont be rushing back. A pint of peroni was over £7 . The steak dinners are better at Wetherspoons ,for a lot less. Sorry just saying what I really feel

Been today for my 60th bday lunch , myself and my husband both had fish and chips ! The chips were fine but the fish wasn’t . It didn’t taste fresh and the batter was left for too long very disappointing!

The food was distinctly Average, The Manager was Miserable, and unenthusiastic, the beer garden was nice and sunny, and after a stressful morning, I took my wife out for dinner, but I was not impressed. And not very good value for money.
