This pub needs closing sooner rather than later, staff were terrible, £18 for 2 pint of Carling and a GnT .? Really? I don’t / wouldn’t normally put a negative review on pubs locally but this was the worst experience I’ve ever witnessed,!!!!!!! How this place has not been shut down by the brewery or the authorities is beyond me!

Been using planters for many years unfortunately the restaurant has declined was there for 3 separate activities booked for Halloween .. 6 adult 3 children so not a cheap day .. food took 1hour 15 mins and all arriving at separate times so had to leave it as had slot time for pumpkin picking . . I ordered a gluten free sandwich that was poor size and standard for the price .. Considering it was school holiday and was very busy lack of staff . ..

My friend, who has a life threatening nut allergy, asked for a doughnut. She asked the lady behind the counter if it has nuts in and the woman said NO. The woman proceeded to ask if it’s an allergy, to my friend replying YES. As we thought the workers know their food, no further questions were asked. As my friend was eating the doughnut, the woman approached and made us aware it had hazelnuts in. Both fell silent and had to leave immediately, luckily my friend had her EpiPen on her but the woman behind the counter could have killed her. Please think about labelling your food correctly, offering an allergen book OR simply train your staff. Thankfully my friend is ok, but it could have been so much worse.

Visited with friends for Sunday lunch. They'd been before for lunch (although not on a Sunday)and had enjoyed it so we took a chance. Nicely busy but no issues getting a table, although I wouldn't go much after 1-1.30pm for Sunday lunch as you may miss out. Great tasting coffee and the blackberry stout was amazing. Sunday lunch is superb - 2 of us had turkey and 2 had gammon. Everything was cooked just right - the roast potatoes were great and good selection of veggies. 3 of us ordered extra cauliflower cheese but we would have been fine with just 2 for the table - I'd definitely recommend it, made exactly how it should be and really tasty. All the food was piping hot, great portions and excellent value for money. The pub is dog friendly too.

Day out for my partners birthday, first time for Karen on a Steam Train and stopped off at The Ship Inn. Checked The Ship Inn on TripAdvisor and the reviews were very good...so on a winner to start. Beautiful setting on the banks of the river Severn stands an impressive building with an expanse of decking and glass balustrade with plenty of tables and chairs to eat outside. The inside is very well maintained well stocked bar and again plenty on tables and seating. We were greeted with a smile and welcomed, shown the table we had booked via an email, menu had a very good selection plus specials. We had the soup which was Carrot, ginger and chilli, sourdough bread and butter. Something different but certainly the right choice. Mains We both had Sea Bass. When it was served, there was two lovely fillets. Beautiful taste. One to go for when you visit. We skipped dessert, paid the bill and sat outside on the decking with a drink enjoying the afternoon sunshine. Price.....real value for money. Food......excellent. Service.....excellent. Only downside is that The Ship Inn is to far from home for us to be a regular.😃 Well done The Ship Inn. Best wishes Cannock John

We came to try their burgers and pizzas. Both were absolutely amazing! We were served on the bar by Jack, he was very helpful with allergens and anything we didn’t want to actually have on our food. He is a credit to this place! We will be back again!

Absolutely fantastic night last night. 24 of us booked in for a meal and we were able to all sit together. Service was amazing with all meals arriving together by the wonderful, friendly staff. The food was delicious and piping hot. We had a great time together all made better by the amazing owners and staff. Thank you.

Have had the carvery a few times and it is always underwhelming. All the veg bar a potato/onion mix is frozen, so mushy and tasteless. The roast potatoes are always almost burnt. If the freezer bag says cook for 40 mins and they come out overcooked then next time you would do them for 30 mins, but oh no, they keep overcooking them every time.
