Eaten here many times now, never once had a bad meal or experience. The last time I took my young daughter for breakfast, (had The Medicine, obviously! Full english with a twist, can’t fault it). Every meal I’ve had always tastes great but always fills you up, you get a lot for your money. The staff are always friendly and know their stuff when it comes to questions about items on the menu. The staff come across as family orientated too, interacting with and talking to the little one while taking orders or walking past. Demi especially always has a smile on her face and has always been happy to help when I’ve been in and she is there. Great atmosphere and always seems to be busy…which speaks for itself - it’s because it’s good. The pastries and cakes are phenomenal and the coffee beats any other ‘high street’ coffee shop. Would recommend you give this little gem a shot when you’re next passing. There’s nowhere else like it.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and there was a great atmosphere. The food is so out of the ordinary and great quality, especially the bakery items!

Our order ticket actually got lost but as soon as we informed staff we had been waiting they were extremely accommodating and apologetic. Our food and drinks came quickly afterwards and they even gave us a cake to apologise for our wait, this was gratefully appreciated (it was delicious). I would really recommend this cafe, the halloumi brioche was delicious and the coffees were amazing. The staff were all really kind and welcoming💕🧇

Super disappointed! Has the potential to be excellent but it failed on simple points. - staff very slow to acknowledge, greet, serve, at counter and table and not personable (I was a waitress and understand it's tough, busy etc) -tables in middle almost touching so heard all conversation, really need a little more distance (probably one table removed to allow) -sooo loud so everyone in there raising voices to be heard, need some furnishings to absorb noise and maybe a table removed -poor value - £13 for smashed avacado on toast effectively which was yummy, but the second larger slice was simply buttered, felt stingy Free parking just behind and many lovely treats, however until basics improve I'd not return.

Food average. Service slow and staff not very personable. Ordered drinks as our food came and they did get to our table until after we’d finished our meal. Coffee bitter.

This restaurant presents itself as an artisan experience, we were not impressed. Staff friendly but slow. Coffee excellent. Grilled cheese sour dough sandwiches- they don’t work! Cheese was sparse and lacked flavour, very greasy due to texture of bread with this recipe. Automatic 5% service AND a tips cup ‘to give choice?’ Very expensive for what it was £22+ we won’t bother again

£4 for yesterday's spongy sourdough! Very poor! Won't be coming back. Standards have been slipping a lot in recent times.

Had some lovely lunch/brunch on Monday . Hadn’t booked a table and it was very busy. We were found a table and ordered quite quickly . The food was so tasty and didn’t disappoint. My daughter didn’t like the hash on the veggie breakfast but enjoyed the rest . It is a little more expensive that other coffee shops but worth it . Thank you x

Previously had a great experience which was why we went back, but this visit it was full and very noisy acoustics. The staff were lovely but the wait time was 15 minutes to get our drinks which were wrong and then 40 minutes for our food and it was average as we were all starving by then and the food was just warm. Had to ask for water for the table 3 times appreciate they were really busy but we will not be going back again. Such a shame that when they are busy they can’t keep up the standard and food quality of our first visit.

Friendly staff, delicious food, fast service and good value. I had the French toast and my sister had the halloumi brioche with fries, both really nice. Also the blueberry lemonade is amazing. Would definitely visit again in the near future.

Wouldn’t use again. I went for coffee with my dog and the trainer and asked if dogs were allowed and the girl said no which is fair enough but she looked at us as though we’d smacked her in the face with a wet fish. I asked about sitting outside and was told we could I also asked if my dog could have a bowl of water to which I was told she’d have to see if they’d got a bowl. Now I know some people don’t like dogs but a cafe without bowls never. When the young lady brought the drinks and can I just say a friendly lady I asked her if I could have a bowl of water for my dog she said certainly I’ll go and get one. Why can’t all the staff be friendly. Would I go back Never and will I be telling people how the staff treat you I Certainly will. Oh another thing unless you want to burn your fingers or wait for your coffee to go cold don’t order the latte. It’s served in a glass without a handle so you can’t even pick it up to drink it. Had to give it one star otherwise it wouldn’t submit it.

Went for lunch and had some amazing food. Excellent service and a fair price. I had the buddha bowl with chicken and would def go back. The restaurant was really busy but the food came out really quickly

Lovely lunch celebration with my daughter. Even had happy birthday sang to her with a cake by berat. Great service as always by jade and team.

We've been going here since it first opened and it never improves. The food is good but the service is so slow and terrible. 25 minute wait for a drink because they have one person making drinks, big queues at the till to pay and no one who works there seems to care. So disappointing, I won't bother going back as everytime I try and give them another chance it's still terrible.

Would not return. Waited over an hour for our food and when it came wasn’t great. Not very hot and pretty poor for the price charged.

Took my mom here for the first time today. Very disappointed. We were told to sit at a table with stools as it was busy. I explained to the guy with the beard (manager?) that I suffer with a bad back so a stool is not ideal for me but he told us that as soon as a table with chairs became free he would move us. At least 4 or 5 other couples came in after us and he seated them instead of moving us a promised. We were hoping to have some food but we only had a drink as I was too uncomfortable. If he is the manager he has no interpersonal skills! Won’t be going there again!

Outstanding customer service. I come here regular with friends and family and always recommend it to anyone that needs a new place to try. There’s nothing you couldn’t want. The food is amazing and a perfect little treat place on a weekend catching up with friends or going for any type of celebration with family. All I can say is GO, you won’t be disappointed!

My friends and I usually visit the mailbox but decided on the Codsall Medicine Bakery, we attended as walk ins. From the moment we stepped in, Bez greeted us warmly, ensuring we felt welcome and comfortable even though it was very busy. He promptly seated us, and our orders were taken with care. Jade, with her expertise, crafted drinks that were truly exceptional – we were blown away! Catering to all dietary needs, which we greatly appreciate. But what truly stood out was the exemplary service from Bez and Jade. Their attentiveness and dedication went above and beyond, deserving special recognition. A heartfelt thank you to Jade, and a huge shoutout to Bez for making our experience memorable and serving the whole dining room like a soldier. We've already booked for next week and can't wait to return, thank you again can’t wait to see you :-)

Great little cafe and bakery. Lovely atmosphere and great food. Who can argue with somewhere that serves maple bacon French toast at 3pm on a Sunday! Also very worth going on Too Good to Go for their surprise bags!

I love this little gem Of a place from the friendly staff namely Bez and Jade to the awesome breakfast menu and not to mention the delicious array of cakes and yummy treats. Also love the fact that they have loads of vegan options 💪🏾👍

Very poor service, not an understaffing issue - no acknowledgement of presence when waiting for over 10 mins to be seated when cafe was not full. Waited over 10 mins to pay, again no acknowledgement. Second visit where this has happened and will not visit again.

We visit medicine a lot as we live local. However, the service is going more and more down hill every time we visit. A 30 minute wait for a coffee and a pastry, not forgetting my partners drink being forgotten about. It’s just not good enough, especially with the prices that they charge. You can just see sitting there, they are understaffed and there is a lack of organisation. I feel sorry for the staff in there as it’s not their fault, however it’s a poor experience. These are basic things that are easily rectified.

Service was dreadful. We had coffee and cakes. waited to be asked if we required anything else, no one approached our table so i had to wait behind 2 takeout guys for 10 minutes to order more drinks. Tables were left with the dirty cups and plates when our drinks finally arrived. Miserable staff. Shame, as the coffee and cake were both delicious, but you pay for the atmosphere as well as the meal. Looked at my reviews and noticed 2 years ago I made similar comments about the staff and service, obviously the management dont take any notice of their customers?

We’ve been going there for a few years now and the service has gone worse and worse. We love the food but we won’t be coming back. We waited for 35min for the drinks and the tea was cold so we had to ask for a new one. Food took an hour to come. Disappointing as it could be a great place

This bakery does the BEST sourdough bread I have ever tasted. There is now a branch of in the Chubb building in Wolverhampton too. We live in Abu Dhabi and visit this bakery when we are in the UK for holidays. Last week my son's teacher mentioned Medicine Bakery in Codsall - so the reputation of the bakery is international now as far as the UAE.

Please don’t be fooled by the fancy menu and nice aesthetic. We had a booking for 12:45 on a Saturday and the food arrived at 2pm. The service was extremely slow and we were sat there waiting for so long (50 mins for food, 10-20 mins for order to be taken). I noticed other people around me also complaining about not receiving their food. The place is dirty and the staff are in no rush to get you your food. You can’t just have a nicely decorated restaurant with lots of cakes on display. To be a functioning restaurant you need to have a good hygiene standard and actually get food out to customers in a reasonable time. I was offered a baked good as an apology and 10% off the bill. I would much rather pay full price and just have good service and my food delivered on time.

Visited today (5th Nov) amazing food (medicine breakfast sandwich and fries) and lovely friendly staff. Was my Aunties birthday and one of the staff made such an effort. Thank you 😊

Great menu, excellent food, nice cafe i side, great bread and bakes BUT the one bathroom looks like you have entered a different location- absolutely filthy, old, dusty, dirty, unhygienic- such a shame as everything else is absolutely fantastic so they just need to look at this from the customers perspective and spend some £ bringing it up to the same standards as the café environment! Hoping they see this and get this overhauled! Bin broken and filthy dusty, giant rolls for toilet paper left sitting so no proper holder, dirty floor and walls - come on Medicine you can do better than this

I cannot praise the bistro enough for the fantastic experience we had for my sons' 30th birthday. We were offered exclusive use of the venue after the crown were unable to accommodate us and the staff worked so hard to offer us a fantastic time. Despite working all day before we arrived they were enthusiastic and cheerful. Food was excellent and service was good. Everyone said what a wonderful time they had.Thank you.xc

After a great visit last time, this time is not a good experience. Food was slow delivery, not particularly hot. Last time it was really good, staff were pleasant and when asked if we enjoyed it offered a cake free of charge. Inconsistent standard from a venue that promised so much. Sorry.

Today I walked in to eat as a family with a baby and my partner to ask for a table. Welcomed by a lady at the door who said she had two bookings coming at 1pm who were the same size parties. I said no issues we will wait for a table (so three tables had to become available for us to be seated correct?!) no not in this ladies head. Two booths and a middle table near the counter where everyone queues to order for take out became available. When it came to being seated she offered me the table of course by the counter on the way of everyone walking, so I asked very politely if I could have a booth due to feeding my baby and having a pushchair etc if your a mom you know what it’s like!! This is when the attitude came as she said they were for bookings only. Her inconsiderate and snobby attitude of just saying blatant no to everything we suggested was where I got my back up. Bare in mind it was 1.05pm at this point and no one had arrived for these bookings and they hadn’t requested a booth. I told her me and my family have been coming for years and in all the years I have been never had so much aggro trying to be seated just to eat anyone would think she was top security guarding her booth tables. So basically if you have a booking and if your a walk in customer there’s no chance you sit in the gangway as you don’t pay with the same money clearly!!! I suggest your hire staff with more manners and sympathy towards families.

Decent food with a good menu. The server could have been a little friendlier and the service overall was a little slow but it was very busy at the time so I give them that. Would definitely visit again at some point in the future.

One of my favourite places to go for breakfast/brunch! Food is delicious and staff are friendly. Gets pretty busy so make sure you book!

A decent brunch spot. Croque monsieur was tasty, however the deserts/pastries were a slight let down. The service could have been better, but overall not a bad place for a quick bite to eat.

Visited many times to either eat in or for takeaway. The majority of times the food quality is excellent, but also the majority of times the staff are exceptionally slow, unorganised and get things wrong. Simple things like putting full fat syrup in a coffee when they ran out of the sugar-free that was ordered and paid for, and then being told to leave it out. And adding Halloumi on to a breakfast order for takeaway, paying for it online and collecting only to find out they forgot. Okay, simple innocent mistakes - but I emailed them and messaged them on social media about this latest disappointment- the message has been ‘seen’, but no reply to either. They simply aren’t bothered and don’t care - but in effect by not fulfilling my order they have my money and don’t want to rectify or give it back.On eating in, slow service, incorrect items being brought over. I could go on.Advice to anyone wanting to try Medicine. DON’T do takeaway, don’t think you can nip in to grab a quick takeaway coffee, you’ll likely be waiting a while or be annoyed they got it wrong. ONLY eat in, and only if you’ve got time to kill and don’t need to be anywhere else. Be super clear when you order what you want, and check it, and complain if it’s wrong.The food though, is wonderful. I just don’t bother much anymore trying to get it.

First time we have been and the service by Berat was amazing , my husband made a boo boo by not booking a table. It was busy but Berat made sure we were looked after. The food was amazing and the vegan selection was fantastic so nice to see cafes catering for various dietary requirements. The extra touch is what makes local places so successful. Highly recommend and we look forward to visiting again

Just had a really lovely birthday brunch with my husband. Food was cooked beautifully. They were busy but got food and drinks out fairly quickly. I’d booked online the day before (was easy!) and mentioned it was for a birthday and at the end of the meal the staff brought out a cupcake with a candle for him and sang (which at the age of 43 he was brilliantly embarrassed about ). Perfect food, perfect service. Can’t recommend them enough x

Got coffee to go and I was stood outside the door waiting for nearly 15mins and the staff who brought my coffee didn’t even apologize. This wasn’t the first time this happened. Absolutely disgusting.

Before I start, I'd like to make it clear that I love this place. Cakes and bread are always amazing and staff are polite. This was the first time I'd eaten in the cafe and I was expecting big things. The food itself was lovely but I'm dairy intolerant and I was expecting a few alternatives with Medicine being such a modern, up with the times type of place. They have dairy free milk options which was great but when I asked our server what the options were for breakfast, she said she didn't know and that they didn't have a chart so I couldn't check ingredients. I found this really disappointing and disheartening. Luckily I carry lacto joy tablets but I'd prefer not to have to take them if it can be avoided. In the end I had Eggs Benedict on sourdough (rather than brioche) and the hollandaise sauce on the side which was lovely and a generous portion. We'll return but I hope a few alternatives can be offered in the future or at least an allergen chart available.

The cakes I've had in the past are OK, which is why I have given as many stars as I have.However... today we ordered a sandwich, avocado on toast and a smoothie online to collect. We ordered around 1pm and selected to collect ASAP. We waited until 2.30pm and it was still saying it was not ready. We went in and explained that we had been waiting for our food and after about another 10 minutes of waiting we eventually got it. I got the impression that they had either not checked their online orders or had forgotten to prepare ours. There was not even a proper apology for making us wait an hour and a half...When we got the food we were again quite disappointed. My £7 avocado on toast was one slice of bread and the crust was rock hard. The sandwich wasn't bad but nothing special. Really was not worth the price or the hour and a half wait.I'm not saying I would never eat here again, but I definitely won't be back in a hurry. For such an expensive place I would expect a lot better. I also absolutely would not use their online ordering system ever again.

My vegan daughters delayed birthday celebration. Lovely fresh homemade food. Caters for Vegans, Vegetarians and gluten free, etc. My daughter and vegetarians friends love this cafe.Not the cheapest place but quality fresh produce used. Popular cafe so time limit per table... 45 minutes.Can prebook on line if you prefer. You can eat in or outside, or purchase food to go.

The bakery and goods they sell are amazing but the cafe needs work. We waited for a long time for our drinks as the lady doing them was serving customers bakery goods. Surely all the staff should work together. If they are not doing anything then attend to orders rather than one person doing them. Teamwork! When we got our drinks they were lukewarm. The food itself was lovely. Slow service

We'd booked a table, which I'm glad about as it was busy. The cakes and pastries look amazing, the interior is really nice and the staff are all pleasant. BUT - it feels as if no one is in charge, and no one seems worried about speed or good customer service. They were out of orange juice, the fruit smoothies were unpleasantly full of seeds, the tea didn't arrive with the food, and the wait times are crazy. Then you can't pay at the table, so you have to join another queue - it took half an hour to just pay. There's no sense of 'I'm sorry to have kept you waiting' or even that any of the staff feel as if there's something going wrong. The food was nice enough, but no where near nice enough to warrant coming back and enduring the disorganisation.

Service was slow and inattentive. No real front of house driving the restaurant. Lacked atmosphere and felt like you were a burden when asking for something. My husband asked for sugar for his coffee and it never arrived. Food ok but a little over cooked. Sorry but I won’t be rushing back.

The bakery has a good reputation and yesterday - midday on a busy Sunday - our experience was positive even though my order was overlooked. This wasn't recognised until we'd been waiting for nearly 40 minutes. The oversight was managed well; it was soon rectified with sincere apologies and an offer of a full refund. Good customer service and an happy customer!

This is my first review solely for the purpose of making others aware. Normally I love this place, but after purchasing bread to eat at home, I found a hair baked into it. I notified them via email and have received no response so instead I'm sharing it here.

I visit several cafes each month in pursuit of the perfect breakfast. Usually I'm looking for the perfect 'English'. On this occasion, I settle for poached eggs on sourdough toasted bread with a side order of streaky bacon. Although I love sourdough bread, I did ask for a gluten free alternative which wasn't available. I found the experience a little disappointing as the toast was too hard and the eggs were cold. I feel the dish was over-priced at £5.50 plus £1.50 for 3 slices of steaky bacon. On a positive note, other member in our party were happy with their choice of food, however, once again, a little overpriced. The teas and coffees were of a very good quality. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. A traditional breakfast was available at £11.00 excluding drinks. I would go back to try a dish from the brunch or lunch dishes. I purchased some sourdough bread (£3) It was delicious.

Well I heard many things about this place - was told it was the place to go for a 'posh' breakfast in Wolverhampton.... if there is such a thing :) I've lived here for 30 years.Well where do I start. Turned up at 0955, (booked in advance) two staff on duty - full restaurant pretty much. Do we just take a seat? No response. Was then ushered by a member of staff back to the main door until we were given the all clear to proceed. Then given a table, sat right by the flour bags and the kitchen. Not exactly ideal. 'We haven't forgotten about you' at 1005 am and we promptly walked out after waiting nearly 15 minutes for not even a tea or coffee at 1010 am - and bear in mind we wanted the full works. Francesca/Simon if you read this, you really need to improve your customer service because the staff in your Codsall branch were frankly inept. Tuesday 6th July 2021. I have never witnessed such embarrassingly bad customer service in my whole life - you've even topped the worst restaurant in Llangollen which is saying something.a) greet the customer politelyb) if short staffed, apologise, please be patient with us etc.c) within five minutes of sitting down, drinks orderd) stop faffing around with iPads because the staff quite clearly struggle with them - stick to pen and papere) if you have two staff on - one should be designated to the walk in off the street trade, one to the restaurant. You are prioritising walk in trade yet those inside are paying £11 for basically a couple of bangers, some streaky bacon and a poached egg!You have a good USP - just a shame the service was c r a p!What would I say to anyone trying here? Dont waste your time, save your money and go to Greggs next door instead.Incredibly disappointed and SHALL NOT visit again or recommend.

Arrived for a Father’s Day lunch, I personally had the Nashville chicken burger and it was delicious! Food is great but very expensive for the portion size. The cakes are lovely, especially the chocolate brownie

OMG the sourdough bread is out of this world. Order a second loaf as you'll be disappointed when the first runs out. Didn't try anything else, didn't need to.

It seems from recent reviews that Medicine still hasn't worked out it's service issues, something I noticed when in the store this morning, seeing confused customers waiting for service. Anyway, that aside, we used to go to Medicine quite regularly but became fed up with the service and the pricing. These days I head in to grab sourdough at the weekend, which is lovely and reasonable at £3 a pop! Whilst waiting to be served this morning, I noticed a tray of croissants and decided to have an almond croissant - complete with chocolate, so I was told. At the check out the bill came to £6 - for my sourdough and this croissant. So I checked, £3 for a croissant, really? Yes came the reply, they're popular, to which I retorted 'they're expensive!'I should have declined the croissant but I didn't. Anyway, was it worth it? No, I'm not sure any croissant would be. The almond paste was too thick, the crunch of sugar was too much and I threw over half away. Oh and there was no chocolate, not that it mattered as I wasn't too fussed about the chocolate. The UK has some wonderful French bakeries and patisseries; and none of them would dare to charge £3 for a croissant. Let alone such an average one. I'll stick to just the sourdough in future!

Booked a table for lunch and was immediately impressed with the number of staff available. However, we were very disappointed with the very slow service, which included waiting over 15 mins for an order of bottled beer( the excuse being that they couldn’t get the top off!!) with no glass. They eventually bought us a dirty ( unwashed !!!) glass, which the waitress agreed was unacceptable and removed it…leaving us to wait another 10 mins for a clean one!!! SHOCKING service! After our main course we asked about choosing a cake to eat in. We were gobsmacked when the waitress said she had to go and check that we hadn’t exceeded our allotted time in the restaurant!! WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!!

My other half wanted to visit here for ages so passing through we stopped off for a cake to take away. Half the shelves were empty and what choices they did have were quite expensive £4 for a donut really! And 2:50 for a jam donut that was tough as boots on the bottom. Tried once won’t be returning.

Food fantastic lots of choices very friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Excellent customer service from Jade, Misha and Sophie! Definitely would recommend to a friend 100%

I love this place. I go there quite often and i've only had good experiences both on the phone and in the cafe. The staff are super friendly and polite. They forgot toast came with my meal once and when I asked she was super lovely and got it for me straight away. They cater really for gluten free and vegan and always have a great selection of cakes etc. The only thing i'd say is with COVID, we were told to go up and pay at the til after our sit down meal and with people choosing cakes etc it all seemed a little confusing as to where to go and where to stand.

We wanted to visit here for a while we booked a table online when I called and sent a message to ask about the menu and how to book I had no reply and when I spoke to them on the phone they were rude and told me I had to book online. We weren’t able to get a booking until late afternoon for the day we wanted to visit. The service was very slow to start with when we arrived it didn’t seem organised. Some of the staff were very rude and not friendly. We were very disappointed as most food and drink had run out for the day at this time and no one had warned us when we booked this could happen. There were no fresh cakes left that we wanted and the drink I wanted was not available. It’s a very limited menu and the food was just average. Very disappointed

Travelled 40 minutes to try this place for breakfast. Turned up and asked for a booth as it was clear they weren't busy. The unfriendly waitress said no as they are saving the booths for larger groups. We were then seated at an uncomfortable table, while we watched the waitress seat another couple at a booth. We waited 25 minutes for someone to bother to come and take our order (even though they were not busy), for the waitress to come over with a poor attitude. We walked out before they passed our order to the kitchen and the bar, because we didn't want to spend our money at a place like this. The staff seriously need customer service training. Would not return or recommend.

The staff are so miserable all the time. They make you feel like you're not welcome there. Food is very overpriced and overrated. People still go there just because there aren't decent cafes / restaurants in Wolverhampton.

Eaten from here a few times - only ever the grab and go bakery stuff though - the sweet treats are delicious but for me the sour dough bread is the game changer. They have a different selection of cronuts, donuts and cruffins each day and most of the time I haven't been disappointed. Their service has occasionally been a bit ropey (would avoid at all costs on a Saturday) but on the whole the staff are really helpful and friendly. It is quite pricey but the desserts are well thought out and can easily be split between two people if you're not being as greedy as I am.

The selection of baked goods in this shop is just mind blowing. I treated myself and my partner to a breakfast roll and cruffin and must say they were utterly delicious and HUGE!! Definitely recommend and will be returning !!

Been coming here for about a year now and absolutely love it. Fresh dishes, even fresher bakes and bread. Delicious. Tried many of their dishes and can solidly recommend the masala eggs, eggs Benedict, blondie brownie & pretty much any of the other baked goods. Their sourdough is next level.

Ordered 3 lots of poached eggs in sourdough bread all 3 ordered arrive eggs were hard and cold. Good enough they took them back and nice eggs did arrive. Disappointed that there was no apology or an offer of any redress. All very matter of fact ,oh well just give them some more’ kind of attitude. We won’t be returning.

Excellent service today! We had booked & were shown to our table. Staff really friendly, we loved our breakfast! It was amazing! & the cakes looked so good we took some away with us. They were Delicious!

Excellent service, friendly and obliging staff.We both had the medicine burger, which was very good The only thing I would say is to be aware that there is a quick turnaround on tables and you are only allowed one hour for your booking which isn't long enough if you want coffee after your meal. On this occasion they made an exception and I had coffee. Perhaps this needs to be looked at by the management.I would go again.

This is my local cafe and their food and service never disappoints.They have a fantastic range of cakes including Cronut, Chelsea buns, carrot cake, gluten free oreo cake that are all a hit.They always give fantastic service to my family including my 3year old son where he always asks when we are going back to see Callum!Hot food is also to die for.Massala eggs, eggs benedict, cooked breakfast, harrissa, salmon and eggs. I could go on...Currently they are restricting time seated to maximise those that an book, but those who have booked really must arrive on time. It's not the cafes fault if you guys turn up late.

Wow! My partner and I travelled to codsall to try medicine after a friend recommended. It was a Saturday so couldn’t book until 3.30 but we turned up at 2 hopeful for a table and managed to sit outside straight away. We ate lunch - burger, salt beef sandwich & fries and alioli and could not fault the food! Everything was so tasty!The bread & cakes on offer are just incredible. We ordered 6 cakes on our way out to take to a party that evening, I think it’s safe to say our friends will be giving it a try also!!! They were just unreal!

We visited medicine last Saturday and I am aware of the covid-19 restrictions of only staying 1 hour however, they didn’t give us adequate time to eat and took our plates after twenty minutes waiting for them to collect them. Also, they took our order quickly, but we waited ten minutes at least for tap water and a long time for our food too.We planned to order a hot drink after eating but failure to grab any attention, which meant they came over to us, stating we had to ‘leave in five minutes’ only giving us enough time to collect our stuff. She asked us to leave fifteen minutes early cutting in our one hour stay and there were tables there who got there before us and didn’t leave in the time we were there. Usually this isn’t the service we have had before however, I know the COVID restrictions but this was bad service.

The menu looked great and after seeing instagram reviews I was keen to try this place. Food and drinks were fine but some of the staff were inattentive and rude, we were sat down by a guy who was great but after that it went downhill. We felt ignored, and had to actively flag down a member of staff for any query or request. Overall a poor experience and like we were in the way rather than a paying table. We went the whole time we were there without anyone asking if our food was ok or if we wanted anything. When flagged down most the staff were fine and friendly but one particular girl looked like she didn’t want to be there and it really showed and rubbed off. There were plenty of staff about which is hard to reason why we had such a poor experience. Such a shame as it appeals and has a good menu.

We visited earlier today and I was impressed by the great selection of homemade cakes and the variety on the brunch menu. However on arrival after booking a table a number of days ago and having a confirmation email from staff detailing this reservation was told we did not have a booking. Which resulted to us sitting outside, which was not ideal. After travelling from Kidderminster I would not visit again in a hurry. The cafe seemed understaffed which was a shame due to the great Selection of food and cakes available.

Having booked for 4 people email confirmation arrived to find due to admin error only expected 2 so quick alternative was to squash onto a table for 3. All orders in from the love menu sadly all the poached eggs served with the various meals were overcooked and hard. These were replaced and offered of second drink on the house appreciated. The ham on the eggs benedict was delicious and home cooked. We all ate well and enjoyed ourselves despite the service/ booking issues. We opted to buy some croissants for tomorrow’s breakfast which were complimentary and a kind gesture.

Beautiful homemade cakes displayed without any covering just at the right height for customers in the queue to cough, sneeze and breathe germs all over them. I pointed the danger of spreading the dreaded virus in this way & was told 'Our sneeze guard is broken'. This is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Covid 19 doesn't recognise that it has to wait for a sneeze guard to be fixed. I really feel that this needs URGENT action.

What a fantastic Bakery, best sour dough bread I’ve tasted and the selection of bread and cakes is superb. I’ve not eaten here but the food being served looks great. I have eaten in their Birmingham branch and that was first class.

I love this cafe! Only been twice, but it’s now my favourite breakfast choice.Scrambled egg on toast was scrumptious, light fluffy eggs, crunchy toast.Delicious coffee, only complaint, it just wasn’t hot enough ( I had asked for boiling hot, it was tepid?)Lovely, friendly atmosphere, loved the decor.

I have been to this cafe in the past and always rated it but I was very disappointed on this occasion. Has the place changed hands as I don't recall it having this name in the past? The presentation of cakes etc was great and we were really impressed. We ordered cake and tea which took rather a long time to arrive bearing in mind that there was little preparation to do. We weren't too fussed about that though. What really disappointed was how dry the cakes were. They looked great but the taste and texture just didn't match up. It certainly put me off going there again.

Not having read prior reviews I was taken for breakfast by a younger crowd who rated Medicine highly. Not disappointed at all, lovely English breakfast arrived quickly with a pleasant smile from the waitress. It's clearly popular and on trend at the moment and a little bit on the expensive side but a hearty start to the day.

Tried this place , nice tasting food and pleasant staff, but the prices !! Wow !!£9 for banana bread !! Really ?We are talking Codsall , guessing that’s why the owners have opened a place in Birmingham (so they can justify prices).I find it funny that these places have lovely websites talking of ethical , artisan foods etc , seems then they can overcharge for what I had which is basically a banana sandwich covered in Syrup !

Great service, excellent menu selection, pleasant atmosphere, comfortable seating. The food was all beautifully cooked and well presented. We took cakes away for later and were spoilt for choice.

I frequently visit the establishment for lunch and thought to post a review after continuous appalling service. There are many cafes, bakeries and lunch establishments all over the uk similar to the generic wooden table, odd furniture, coffee, rustic, artisan, brunch and avocado buzzword. I think there is a stage in your palette where whilst the uk coffee market has moved on from greasy spoons and being replaced by independent coffee places, you search for something a little extra, What sets them apart as to whether they are just yet another Scandinavian / ‘artisan’ cafe is the customer service - and boy does this place lack it! On numerous occasions you get barely a grimace out of the staff which leaves you questioning why you even chose to spend your cash in the place. At best you may get a scowl when they serve you your brunch. My latest trip left me awaiting soup for 40mins which turned out to be cold. And don’t get me started on the condescending staff member that talked down to me as to what kind of ‘bread’ was served with soup once when I made a dry joke! I’m sure for most people in the local area this establishment is a novelty. However for the far reaching and worldly-wis maybe just give it a miss!

This is a very modern, up beat place to eat. We especially enjoy visiting for brunch. The range of meals is exceptional and they are all very tasty. You cannot visit without taking home a cake for later!!!!

The food you do is fantastic as well as great bakery products but...why are your staff so miserable?? What goes on behind the scenes? It's not just me that thinks this, many of my friends do as well. It's a shame you are getting a reputation for bad customer service when you produce amazing products. Your staff need to smile and engage

Went here today with my wife and daughter as it was recommended by family. Presentation was good but food itself was not good. Had an english breakfast and the sausage and bacon was hard as if it was cooked a while a ago and kept warm. So became way over cooked. My wife enjoyed hers tho. From the looks of the place i expected more. We went there as a treat but would not go back. :-(

I have been a returning customer for near enough 6 years now and still can never get enough of this place!

All aspects of my first visit to this cafe were lovely. The coffee was great (love Iron and Fire Coffee and this is served well) The menu had a great variety of choices, and prices very reasonable. The quality of food was much better than expected, after hearing mixed reviews and I left feeling satisfied. Great atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. All areas were clean and well presented. Will definitely be returning!

I was in Codsall today, and thought I would treat myself to some lovely, fresh baked artisan bread, which I love. I was somewhat surprised that the bread wasn’t still warm, and it didn’t smell freshly baked, but, nevertheless, spent £3 on a “granary” loaf. I didn’t find many grains in it, and when I eventually got my bread knife through it, it was very dry, and didn’t feel as if it had been baked today. It was tasteless, and the crust cut my mouth in ribbons, because it was so tough. I had to abandon my chicken sandwich, and it, along with the loaf, will be going in the bin. So disappointing, just wish I’d gone a little further down the road.

Popped in for lunch, been several times previously. Food and service is generally hit & miss but lack of options means a return visit. Not anymore! Lunch order was forgotten (2 sandwiches) & when queried, after 25 mins, was told that it was on and would be 5 minutes. Got a refund & left 10 mins later. Generally, the place is ALWAYS swarming with flies and zero is done. There is food & cakes left sitting open for these flies to feast on so how anyone can buy these is beyond me. The owners have done some things right and have clearly rested on their laurels. I would suggest you avoid.

went in for cakes selection,cleanliness very good member of staff friendly and helpful.however £23 for 4 cakes is extremely expensive and the quality was poor and bland,wish id gone next door to greggs.

Poor service, tea served in Stainless steel leaky tea pot, cake very dry and not a good quality.also as we went around 4pm staff started to sweep good as we were still there and more people coming in. Staff not very friendly.

A very hearty and tasty breakfast, excellent coffee and wonderful cakes! Free parking very close by. Plan to return very soon

Have visited a few times before and noticed flies and wasps on bread which were just in baskets. Thought we’d give it another try.Visited today and ordered chicken burger and Korean chicken. The slaw was about a teaspoon in volume and served in a very chipped dish! The brown sauce was “encrusted “ around the neck of the bottle. The meal took 40 minutes to come. We ordered a still water which was warm! Under the settee was leaves, dust and general litter. Just felt like it wasn’t very clean! We did tell the server who said she would pass the comments on! Could be a good place but won’t be returning any time soon! This is the first time I have felt the need to write a review on any eateries and I eat out a lot!

Entering it was like the bun fight at the OK Corral. Full of screaming children with parents who didn't seem to care. One toddler of about 18 months was actually sitting on a table being fed by mother. How unhygienic was that? A child's nappy sliding up and down a table where people eat and nothing being said by the staff. The whole place was oppressive, crowded and completely unimaginable as somewhere to eat. We will never enter through that door again and would never recommend it even to our worst enemies.Thank goodness we walked in and straight out again. A dreadful experience.

Visited Medicine cafe today.The first time that I’ve been there science it was re-named.So I’m getting straight to the point that I rated this 4 ⭐️. The reason is, we ordered twice cold drinks milk and apple juice the milk was ok but the apple juice was warm and clearly hadn’t been put in the fridge. The meals did take a while come but what still made me give it 4 ⭐️ not 3 is because when it came it was very nice.A nice cafe in Codsall village.

I always enjoy my visit when I come here the hot chocolate with cream is excellent, really tasty and the cakes are good as well, the service is very friendly and would defineltly recommend.

Had heard of this place from friends...it didn’t disappoint! Super menu...I had the classic full English, my OH had the eggs with avocado and our friend had the classics eggs benedict.

I was so excited to try this place, however it was a huge disappointment. A simple food order took 40 minutes to come (service on the whole was slow for a very quiet mid-week lunch). Staff were unapologetic and seemed generally bored and unenthusiastic. When my scrambled eggs on toast arrived the portion size was huge and eggs were drowned in butter, as well as the toast being burned, not as healthy as this place paints itself to be!! ....... as it claims itself as an artisan bakery I was keen to buy a loaf of bread to take home, but was put off by a customer touching almost every loaf on display to buy whilst staff literally watched without stopping him. Overall disappointing

Great local cafe serving breakfast, lunch, snacks, cakes and lots more We had full English breakfast, very good quality and a nice carrot and walnut cake to take home for later.

Came in to Medicine and was pleasantly surprised! Coffee was brilliant and the staff very helpful. Tried the Turkish Eggs and it was wonderful, great flavours. Couldn’t recommend enough. Cakes looked great too!
