Saturday 8th July. Had planned a trip especially from north wales. Always been on my bucket list. Checked website and Facebook page. Sorry to hear about the break in. Information stated should be open again 6th or 7th July. Tried to phone before visit to check if open. No answer. Should've been open 8th but no updates or information. Arrived at 12:15. Five cars parked by locked gate. Nobody knew What was happening. Walked down the lane. Fantastic house. Unfortunatly we had a wasted trip. Blackboard outside 'closed until further notice' people arriving after us who we informed they were closed. Had we known we wouldn't have wasted a journey.

Lovely, friendly meal out with friends and kids. Enjoyed variety of kids and main meals. Staff very helpful in ensuring a meal for member of party with egg allergy and one needing gluten free food were personally catered for. Food tasty and chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Great iconic building and kids loved all the 'wonky' walls. Great evening out

Staying nearby in Kingswinford, i'd been recommended the quirky Crooked House Pub as an outing. A little tricky to find, as you have to drive down a dark potholed track, through what looks like an old rubbish dump to get to the pub - hardly appealing! Opted to visit on a Sunday evening - sadly they stop serving food at 5pm on Sundays, so unfortunately i left hungry. Standard local boozer, apart from the fact its on the slant due to subsidence. Thinks it relies on this quirkiness rather than good customer service for trade. Its there is you want a drink in a pub on the piss!

Marstons must be out of their minds to be selling this place as everything about it makes you want to return. From the moment you walk through the door the entertainment begins as members of your party will start falling in different directions trying not to be affected by the doorways and windows leaning different ways. Great fun! The couple running the pub are extremely friendly and helpful to meet our dietary requirements. The menu concentrates on good value, traditional pub meals that suit the style of the pub. Our steaks, both T-bone and sirloins were cooked perfectly to our requests and there was a huge bonus for two members of our part who are GF - they offered a GF sticky toffee pudding with custard! An absolute delight. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be returning.

It was a fantastic sight to see tilting to the one side and when you walked in and saw the door you felt drunk, it gave you a tipsy feeling, the character of it inside is has I remembered it from years ago, there's seating in the bar and a dinning area also an outside seating area, a garden and a marquee for weddings etc, the staff where lovely and knew a lot about the house and it's ghosts and it was interesting seeing the marble round upwards.has for the food we found it a bit pricey so went for a small fish and chips which was very nice.

If you’ve not been to the crooked house before then it’s worth a visit. The original pub leaves you feeling a bit wobbly to say the least but the restaurant at the rear is flat. Great selection of reasonably priced gins including chocolate, Turkish delight as well as pink, orange, rhubarb and custard. Food was good and good value for money. We were given a sample starter while we waited which was a nice touch. I had grey peas and bacon for starters which were the best I’ve ever had. We had bread with dripping which came in novel bread bin. My friends had burgers for mains which they said were lovely. I had hot dog which wasn’t the best... frankfurter sausage which went cold really quickly and brioche roll was a bit sweet and stodgy. Chips were really nice though. For desert I had the straw which broke the camels back which was a smaller option and was lovely. Friends had baileys bread pudding and custard and lemon meringue Eton mess which they said were lovely. Waitress/bar maid was really friendly and helpful. Bill for four each having 3 courses and 3 of us having 3 gin and tonics each was just over £100 so excellent value for money.

It has been several years since I lasted went to the crooked house. It is a pub now with considerable gardens & patio area. We are with friends & were most impressed with the choice of food on the menu. The meals were well presented & arrived quite quickly. The head was cut from a loaf (not pre-sliced) & was excellent. The staff are polite & helpful. Drinks however cost the point in my rating, the pint of Aspells cider turned out to be flushing water in the pipes, fortunately not cleaning fluid. The drink was exchanged but this could have had serious consequences.

The Crooked House is a very unique place. This building started sinking due to mining subsidence and was supposed to be demolished, but the owners of local breweries bought it, made it safe, and now it is a crazy place where optical illusions make it appear that things are rolling uphill. We didn't eat there, but we enjoyed a pint or two!

We had a family Christmas meal here and had preordered. We arrived early so that we could get a drink etc before we sat down to eat as were told our food would be served at 12. At 11.45 they were not open. The staff were welcoming and quick to take a drinks order and food came out quickly after we were all seated. The starters were very small portions; I had the smoked salmon and it was very disappointing. Lacked imagination. For the main course I ordered the beef - the meat was cold around the edge of the plate but hot in the middle - obviously microwaved. I told the waitress it was cold and she said ‘shall I put it back in?’ To which I replied ‘what in the microwave?’ She looked a little panicked. She did take the meal back to the microwave but didn’t take any of the veg or gravy left on the table with it so this was cold when I got my meal back. The Yorkshire puddings were rubbery, hard, difficult to cut and tasteless, I didn’t eat mine. All of our party mentioned how horrible they were. We were not offered any sauces such as horseradish, or ketchup for my sons chicken nuggets - I eventually got some when he had finished most of his meal. The desserts were not brilliant. The waffles were hard and impossible to cut. The Eaton mess - well I can’t find words to explain but just don’t have it - it’s not nice. The staff were good, the building is lovely, it’s just a shame about the food. The pub advertises fresh local produce but I’m not so sure! I will not be rushing back anytime soon.

Quirky pub, nice homely restaurant atmosphere. Please give the food a try in the restaurant it is superb quality traditional braissere food. I have visited this location several times over the years and in my most recent visit I had the Sunday roast summer and sundae offer £12.95 for 3 courses soup and a choice of three roasts and traditional Black Country faggots, followed by an ice cream sundae excellent value for money. I had the turkey and it was excellent, served with "proper gravy" and all the trimmings other members of my family had the faggots and pulled pork which was equally as nice. The waitresses were happy to help and offer alternatives for dietary requirements due to my mother in laws diary intolerance. Also nothing was too much trouble to accomadate our child's requirements. The portions were very generous particularly the meat and ample sized bowls of veg, with beautiful crispy homemade roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings. The chef is extremely experienced and offers an excellent menu adding quirkiness, keeping it current but ensuring the Black Country theme as his uniqueness. Visit recommended.

Thing is, its the Crooked House and we heard accents from around the world so you would think wow but........they have not made anything of it really. Bar was closed but lounge open. We arrived early for food having booked but had to wait in the lounge despite our table being empty as they had another table of 10......a little odd, yes and the whole experience moved forward in that vain. The restaurant has place setting ie plates for starters already on the table that are removed when your starters arrive. This happened as far as I could see to all the diners. Again just a little odd as they never appear to have been used. I ordered egg and bacon salad which the white had managed to stay runny while the yolk was hard, not even sure how that can be achieved. My wife had the onion on toast which had the added advantage of looking as bad as it tasted. We thought that there must a good main on its way but alas no.....we were sadly mistaken. The menu stated you would need a wet wipe for my main which was not the case as I experienced the most dry pork ribs without any flavour and not succulent in the slightest.

Absolutely terrible service, a girl asked me to wait in the restaurant area to be seated, she then approached me and even though the restaurant was empty explained I would need to wait at least 30 minutes for a table as it wasn't fair that someone who had booked a table had just been seated, there was 4 staff standing doing nothing in the second bar while 1 staff member had approx 8 people at the first bar, the lady who told me she was the manager "Bex" spoke very loudly and her attitude stunk!! I I asked her if all the empty tables was booked and she said no, but it wasn't fair for me to be given a seat as someone who had booked a table had jut been seated, The pub is actually very dirty and tbh I'm glad she asked me to leave when she did there was all flies in the first bar swarming the beer trays!! I had asked for a menu and one of the young ladies was going to give me one but then again "Bex" came to the rescue and explained we was not allowed to view the menu even though there was several tables available!! I then asked to speak to the manager and a chef was sent out to speak to me, upon seeing the chef I am glad I did not eat from this establishment, he said he was the owner and was also very argumentative and said "I had swore at Bex", when I had not, I had just told her I could speak louder than she could, if there was an option to give a 0 rating then I would of done just that!! I don't understand the reasoning behind them having tables and chairs which cannot be used!! Went here when I was younger and it's gone very downhill, I wonder when the last time it had a hygiene inspection was?

The bar was locked with access via the lounge, to call it a lounge is a stretch! Scruffy all round! The venue were consulted some weeks before, and we called again on the day to ensure they could still accommodate us which they assured us they could. Management said as there were a number of us they would facilitate extra staff. They did not, 35 minute average wait to get served at the bar, one of the bar staff was using her fingers to get rid of the extra frothy head she had created on patrons pints!!! The lager was flat! When staff were asked about food they became stroppy and defensive claiming it was the groups fault and they couldn't help as they had bookings. All the time we were there only 7 people in the place weren't connected with us and only 5 of them were eating!!!It was so bad we all left and went to a much friendlier and accommodating venue who facilitated for the group with 30 minutes notice.

This is without doubt a fabulous building. It's worthy of a pint just to check it out. I'm relatively local and was passing with an American friend who I thought might like the novelty. It's been over a decade since I last visited so I was curious myself. It is delisiously hidden down a windy country lane and has all the wow factor you could ask for as you pull up. But that's where the fairy tail ends. As you walk from the car to the pub there is a vague aroma of sewers. This does not go away as you go into the bar. Combined with the slightly disorientating wonky building and a veritable flock of flies in the bar I was feeling a bit nauseous and already had my doubts about eating there. The final straw was being told you need to pay a deposit for a glass if you want to sit outside. So in order to drink like a grown-up I needed to sit in the fly infested stinky bar.... no, I think not. Made a sharp exit and went elsewhere.

We had a wander round which we really enjoyed. Funniest is watching people arrive and their first, confused reaction. Lots of history in and on the walls around the building, very interesting place to be. We eventually got sat, lit candles is a must for me, but being in the trade I get that drilled into me. Food was delicious and the service was very attentive and friendly. I had the pheasant Kiev and my partner had the chicken which were both lovely. We were offered the pudding menu after and although they looked tempting, the mains had filled us and that never happens to me!! So I had a very nice home made gin, which greatly impressed me. It was a really cold day, where could we visit that was interesting for our teenage grandchildren and five adults? We had been shopping in Dudley and immediately thought of lunch at the Crooked House, even as we drove into the car park the kids were amazed at the way the doors and windows sloped at impossible angles, they were even more absorbed when a marble rolled UpHill. The menu here was also totally different such an interesting variety of dishes, be prepared to be a little adventurous with a starter of Crab Trifle...delicious change from prawn cocktail...some of the main course dishes are familiar but served with a 'twist' like half chicken served as 3 different sections, a Hotpot with pork and black pudding in an individual long handled pot, beef lasagna home made with home made chips or bowl of salad. The desserts do not disappoint but be sure to leave enough space to enjoy they are not small but very moorish...eggnog doughnuts with sugar shake & custard, rice and apple crumble and chocolate trifle. The meals were really well presented with stylish plates and thick serviettes, the landlord and his staff were attentive and obliging and of course the atmosphere will ensure we will return as soon as we can.

Arrived about 18.30 only one other couple in the lounge, bar was not open.Very weird feeling the way the floor slopes but doors and windows slope the other way, felt drunk before I had a drink. Could see into the restaurant and only one table of four were in there. Asked the young lad behind the bar if we needed to book a table. He said he would check availability and came back and said they could fit us in at 19.30 which we said was ok.As we had to wait a hour to be seated we were expecting to see a lot of people arrive to eat, but no one else came so was quite surprised why the wait.We both ordered the game and black pudding hot pot with pickled veg.Very disappointing the meat was like shredded pulled pork but was not able to say what meat it was. The veg was obviously frozen and how it was supposed to be pickled in any way was a mystery. £28 for the two and two drinks.Only one other table was taken while we were there so could not work out why we had to wait 1 hr to be seated.Would take people there for a drink as very quirky place to see but would not eat there again.

We've been coming here for about 8 years from near Oxford and the wonky pub still gets us going. Great food and service, good beer and a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. We followed with the caramel Eton Mess for me and the crumble rice pudding for my wife - both delicious. We will definitely be back again.

When finally he gave it to me the told me it was a 40 minute wait. Why ? Place was empty !! Disappointed! Didn't bother with food.I live locally but never again .

I live locally, so have been here a few times over the years. It is a nice place to be, away from the main road and down a little country lane. They have plenty of drinks from which both my partner and I were able to find something we liked. It really is a freaky place to be in, everything is slanted and crooked and it's not actually easy to walk around as a result! You have to try the rolling a coin up-hill, your brain just won't process it! :)We sat outside and the seating area is nice, clean and comfortable with backs on the bench seats. There is a decent play area for the kids and a fair sized car park.We didn't have food, so can't comment on that I'm afraid.

This famous pub (It is what is says it is) down a half mile long skinny lane off the main road was originally a farmhouse in 1765. It was converted into a public house in 1830.It was shut in the 1940’s, due to its slanting & was brought & under pinned allowing it to re-open. Now glass filaments are in the wall, if they break it shows the walls are shifting.Known as the Sidden Arms (Sidden, black country for Crooked) & was re-named the Glynne Arms after the land owner Sir Stephen Glynne. There is a lounge, bar area & a restaurant area at the back of the pub.Service at the bar is slow, the young staff not really helpful.Only 3 real ales available. They tasted alright.Nice selection of crisps, pepperoni flavour was moreish. The restaurant has 14 sets tables & chairs, 4 on the lower deck & which also has 3 sets of 2 seater leather settee’s & the upper deck has 10 sets of tables & another bar. Why when only 4 tables were occupied, it seemed odd we had to wait 35 mins just to be seated in the restaurant area before we could then order food, which took another 40 min to come. The pub & restaurant were both fairly quiet on our visit.A new look menu to our last visit, only 6 main meals & 7 specials on menu plus side dishes. Most of the meals were between £10 - £12. Puddings £5.25 on average. My venison, port & fennel faggots with mash & peas were tasty, had to order extra veg (£2.75) separate (which is a pet hate of mine, I never understand why pubs just don’t serve you enough veg to go with your meal to start with, you seem to pay more money for less food at most pubs nowadays). My extra veg were cooked al-dente, not overly impressed as they required too much chewing. The dessert menu comes separate. Only about 7 items on it, 2 were already not in stock.I did have a lovely quintessential trifle, with a rhubarb base, cucumber cream, almond crumble, lavender cream, edible flowers & popping candy.Meal & drinks for 2 of us was £45.Apart from the slow service from ordering drinks, getting seated, waiting for food to come, the drinks & food were tasty. Next time I will have to try booking ahead at the restaurant to see if that helps. When you take an hour to get there (by car) from where you live, waiting another 1 hr 15 mins to get something to eat doesn’t sit well with me.If you put a marble on the window it rolls up the frame, I like this.Kiddies play area outside to the left hand side. The building, windows, door frames & corridors are clearly all slanted, they make for great pictures.

There is no online booking system for the restaurant so you can either email or telephone. I left two messages on the answer phone and one email over 3 days before receiving a response. The response was not very professional but got the job done. All the staff seem very young here.I booked a Friday evening 7:30 for 4 people however on arrival the car park was empty, no drinkers in the bar and only 1 table occupied in the restaurant. A table of 4 arrived later making only 3 tables in the restaurant inc us all night. I was really surprised by this as I thought this was a popular destination.I had viewed the menu online and its a nice touch to see all the food miles of some of the ingredients used. A complimentary bhaji and chilli dip came pre starter, I wish I had known this as I wouldn't have ordered starters. We didn't take advantage of the set price menu, 3 courses for £15. With 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 side dishes the food only price was £ 90 which I thought expensive. The steaks are available set price with the option to add ounces for extra money. I was disappointed that only two steaks were on the menu. Steak/ chips or steak Salad. The food was well presented with exception of the lamb kebab starter which is served in a polystyrene take away box delivered on a slate table mat. I thought it un necessary and a bit silly. A whole page of the menu is devoted to additional starters and the menu seemed unbalanced as a result. I think that the nearby Hickory's Smokehouse is having an effect on trade here and maybe the menu could reflect the popularity of their dishes ie BBQ Ribs, More cuts of steak to try to win back diners.I recommend for a drink but would not return for food.

Viewed the menu online and decided to visit here for my daughters birthday. The bar itself is lovely and quirky which was expected but the restaurant lets it down.Atmosphere was non-existent a member of staff told us there was no background music due to the Internet connection being slow but this should and could have been rectified with an old fashion radio or similar.Food .. Had better in a Wetherspoons .. I don't see the reason why you would have flavoured popcorn or scratchings on the menu ... I'd expect these in the bar.Lasagne was too garlicky and sloppy for a couple of us so was left uneaten.Menu was also confusing and very mismatched .. For a pub with a long history I would have expected a lot more traditional food. When I booked the table a couple of weeks in advance for a party of 8 I was told we could only have a table at 20.30 .. I thought wow they must be popular .. Nope we were the only table in there which left me very confused.I have no good comments about the staff unfortunately .. They seemed very nice but not into their jobs at all.I didn't and couldn't make out who was in charge either.Really disappointed :(

They absolutely loved it. The beer and cider pleased them and the food was great. Simple and wholesome without being over fussy. I have eaten in the restaurant before and the food is good. I would not call it fine dining but, again, it is wholesome and palatable. The staff were friendly, if a little scattered. Plenty of car parking space and also seating outside. It is worth a visit from the curiosity point of view. Everyone walks at an angle after a while...the place is completely weird and ABSOLUTELY worth a special trip - do it..don't hesitate, just get on with it and go there. It is also child friendly and great to see the reaction of youngsters. I'd love to know if you can look at the building without feeling sick ;) Let me know!

I took a trip up memory lane and visiting the Crooked House pub, last time I was there was over 10 years ago. It's off the main road via some very narrow winding roads, the sign posts are very good, so you should not miss this place. It a very strange place to look at, with the pub leaning, and is something I would definitely recommend to at least pass by to have a look at. Some good beers on tap, while the pub is old, it feels old, very limited modern touches around the bar and lounge area, and due to that, it starts to feel a little dirty, a bit of a clean up in the bar and lounge area definitely would not go a miss. The restaurant area was new for me, and seems are fairly recent addition to the pub, although not immediately apparent and no sign posts to indicate it's there. We decided to stop and eat there, were seated very quickly, but took over 10 minutes to get the menu, once we got the menu, we waited another 10 minutes for someone to take our order of which we still had not had anyone to take the order, at which stage we gave up, and left the restaurant area, with 2 girls rushed off their feet, 3 behind the bar having a good chat, the service has a lot to improve. Another 2 groups came in while we were waiting, and I saw at least 1 group waiting as long as us just to get the menu to look at. Would recommend you pop by for a beer, have a look around, will definitely confuse your sense of what is straight and angled, but don't expect to get any food service quickly.

I met a friend here for a mid-week evening meal which turned out to be a great experience. We decided to order a main course and dessert and while waiting for the main course we were treated to onion bhajis 'courtesy of the chef'! Our main courses were beautifully presented and were very 'winter-warming'. Equally the desserts were good sized and mine, which was an apple crumble, had a lovely 'twist' of something crunchy inside and was served with calvados custard - quite a luxury.

This is not a place you come across by accident, you have to seek it out. However, it is well worth the effort as I am convinced that you will not see another establishment quite like it. We visited on a Friday lunchtime and chose to sit in the lounge, the bar being the other room. Do not expect modern decor in either of these rooms, it is more 1940's and quite sparten. You can however sit in the modern restaurant area which has been added onto the building, but then, why have you come here if you want pristine modernity?Without doubt this is the only place that I have felt intoxicated before I have had a drink! The food we ate was good, especially the baguettes which were excellent value and reasonably priced. Not a place I would choose to regularly visit, but one that I would choose to take friends if only for the surprise value.

My sister had black Country faggots with mashed potatoes with caremelised onion and mushy pays, we asked for extra gravy which they obliged and she too thoroughly enjoyed it.and the deserts were also amazing, there was a lot more variety on the menu, seeing is believing. I read about this 'pub in an old book and decided to go and see it. Well, what a surprise. It was exactly as described in the book and made for a very interesting and worthwhile visit. My wife and I drove to the 'pub. As we approached it down a dirty old and winding lane, we both thought "What are we coming to?" Having persevered down the lane, we then came to the very aptly named 'pub. As soon as you see it, you are amazed at the very slanting and crooked angle of the building. It is a Banks/Marstons House and serves mainly their beers, which are real ales. Wines, cider and lager are also available. As soon as we walked through the door, we were taken aback by a very drunken feeling, as the door seemed to close back on itself and the floor did peculiar feelings to your senses. The floors are level, but the walls are not upright. An extraordinary building thrown wildly out of kilter (mining subsidence). A traditional pub with Mastons related ales. There is a very nice restaurant at the rear with a very good enjoyable selection of foods. It was interesting to find out that most of the food is locally sourced within about 20 miles and a lot of the vegetables and eggs are grown and provided from their own allotment. The choice of food ranges from baguettes through pub grub to gourmet meals. The waitress was extremely pleasant, efficient and helpful. The meals were very generous portions. I would recommend this pub as a very interesting place to visit, followed by very good food.

Me, my wife and my parents arrived at the crooked house for a meal on Friday to celebrate my graduation. We don't live local to the area but it fell nicely on our route home so decided to book for a meal.On arrival we were surprised how quiet the car park was for a Friday night, we entered the pub and we were the only occupied table in the restaurant at 8:15 on a Friday. We felt a little anxious and although it was nice to have the restaurant exclusively we would have probably felt more at ease with a restaurant full of customers. The waitress was so pleasant and immediately made us feel so welcoming, we ordered our drinks and decided not to order a starter but instead to get started with some breads and appetisers. To our surprise the waitress arrived back with four starters, three small portions of melt in the mouth pork with crackling and a small mustard mash scoop and for my mum whose a vegetarian a courgette risotto. She explained that they were tasters and compliments of the chef. To say it set the scene for the evening was an understatement we soon felt at ease and as though they were genuinely pleased to have us.The breads arrived, individually baked to perfection and presented in a mini bread bin for a unique gimmick. My wife and dad had beef dripping which they said was great. The mains were equally satisfying and the steak was cooked to perfection. The food was good the drink was good, the service was excellent and the price was acceptable. Overall a very enjoyable evening and we will return if we are in the area. I had to ask this one girl for a menu 3 times, 3 TIMES!!! The menu was so average and completely over priced. I intended on having a quick Sunday lunch before heading to the cinema, but it took 3 hours to receive a starter, main and a pudding which I think is a stupid amount of time to be waiting. I wouldn't mind but there were like 6 members of staff and only 3 tables in the entire restaurant. That says a lot about the place when it was prime time on a Sunday afternoon.
